Thursday’s round was nothing short of spectacular, featuring a birdies and an eagle. All thanks to what Senson described as the best putting performance of his life. But here’s where it gets controversial. Friday’s round was a stark contrast. Senson managed only one birdie accompanied by three bogeies and a double bogey on the par 4 second hole. His sole birdie came midway through his round at the watery par 51 18th after starting on the 10th hole. Despite the rough day, his 36th hole score of seven under par 135 was just enough to make the cut, placing him alongside notable players like Ricky Fowler and US Open champion Gary Woodland. Former champions Jonathan Vegas and Cameron Champ also made the cut, but just barely. And this is the part most people miss. Several high-profile players didn’t make the minus 5 cut line, including former 3M Open champ Tony Fenol, Howong Lee, Web Simpson, Keith Mitchell, Zack Johnson, Sahit The Gala, Seiwim, Maverick McNeely, and former 3M Open champ Lee Hodgeges. Frankie Kapan withdraws. North Oaks Frankie Capanda Third had to withdraw from the tournament due to a wrist injury after shooting a 7 over 78 in the first round on Thursday. Other Minnesota connected players had mixed results. Carson Herren, son of Tim Herren, shot 72 and 70, but missed the cut while playing on a sponsor’s exemption. Fargo’s Tom Hog shot 74 and 78, finishing last among those who completed the tournament. Former Gopher Eric Venroyan improved on Friday, but his 75 and 68 wasn’t enough to make the cut. Round of the day, Sweden’s Alex Norin had an impressive round, shooting a 9 under 62 with nine birdies, an eagle, and two bogeies.
