now time for golf getaways featuring the best golf destinations in North America it should come as no surprise to those who’ve tackled the Doug Carrick design musoka Bay Club that the Course located in Ontario’s Cottage Country close to many other golfing gyms has rocketed into Canada’s top 10 just 6 years into its existence it’s been getting rave reviews since the first te- balls were struck back in July of 2006 and those reviews are well warranted Carrick and then associate Ian Andrew carved a Fant fantastic design out of Rocky marshy mccoa terrain without a single misstep the front side comprised of a magnificent mix of holes banded by dramatic par fors is one of the best Nines in the country and while the backside is a more demanding nerve testing challenge it’s fantastic finishing Duo though tough overrides any builtup tension well the golf course is challenging from all of these I think you need to you know obviously keep it pretty straight uh it’s very forgiving there’s lots of room on either side of the Fairway you know in case you sprayed a little bit so it’s very fair that’s what I like about the golf course and I think that’s what our guests like is that you can play have fun you’re not going to lose a lot of golf balls and uh as long as you keep it on play you’re going to have a great day the musoka bay club’s story began in 2003 when Toronto real estate developer Peter freed looked to build a community outside of Toronto for the baby boomer generation freed recognized the Moka site as a gateway to the region and spent two years developing a master plan for construction after hiring Doug Carrick the team began working on a course in 2005 and it opened the following year since then musoka Bay Club has been a huge hit taking home score golf Awards such as the 2007 second best new course in Canada the 2008 best condition course in Canada and in 2011 both the best public course and the best condition course in Ontario make no mistake though this is a tough course with wonderful elevation changes can play to as much as 7,367 yards although it’s friendlier from the forward te options PGA tour pro in Branford Ontario native David Hearn shares the course record with 71 it’s spectacular in every sense as the holes are framed beautifully from the tea boxes there are so many amazing holes in this layout that finding a true signature hole is difficult but the par 4 ninth tole known as The Narrows is truly one of the most unique and beautiful holes designed in Canada playing over 400 yd from the back te’s golfers face a t- shot that crosses over Wetlands into an uphill Fairway it doesn’t get any easier as their second shot needs to carry through a 10 foot gap between two very large Rock Oak crops just to get to the green well nice is challenging hole you really you really don’t need to hit a driver where I think a lot of the uh you higher handicappers pull up that driver and Blast away you know you want to you just trying to get it around the 150 yard marker you’re playing the blue T’s you know you’re going to hit a Hybrid or a three-wood and it’s going to get you in a perfect position to hit that uh little seven or eight iron uh kind of over the rocks on top of the hill there the par 31 17th hole known as waterl is a majestic design that requires golfers to hit a shot over nearly 150 yards of water onto the green spectacular hole 17 my favorite hole in the golf course beautiful par three over water and you know you really got to trust the club it usually plays a little downwind so uh it might be not as long as you think but uh if you miss it you’re going to be in the a little short in the water many who come to Moka Bay also choose to make it their home the houses town houses and Villas work as a destination for those who love musoka and can be a source of income for those who only want to visit on their time well there are three types of real estate product that we have are uh The Lofts uh they’re a new product they’re they’re very modern they’re contemporary they’re they’re real breath of fresh air in Moka our Villas which tend to be a little bit larger two three and four bedroom they can range up to 2200 or 2500 square ft uh and then we have our Custom Homes on the Villas and The Lofts we’ve got a really unique luxury accommodations program at the club uh it’s an owner-based program everybody that buys one of our Lofts or our homes as a member at the club but if they want to uh lease it out and get some extra Revenue while they’re not at the property they can there’s no minimum weeks or anything like that it’s just a an owner based program with breathtaking views in over 177,000 Square ft the clifftop clubhouse and panoramic Terrace provides a perfect setting to host a golf tournament corporate outing or wedding Moka Bay Club play it once and you’ll want to play it forever
