A TRIO of opticians have raised huge funds for Prostate Cancer UK by taking part in a golf challenge for the eighth year in a row, writes Jeanna Karcz.
Alan Richards from Specsavers Worcester, Dean Taylor from Specsavers Malvern and Mike Walker from Specsavers Bromsgrove, called themselves ‘The Ryder Rejects’ as they participated in the golf challenge for roughly 15 hours to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

The team began at dawn at Ravensmeadow Golf Club in Hindlip and finished at 7.30pm that evening, having raised £1,600.

Mr Richards said: “We’d like to thank you for all the donations which helped us raise such an amazing amount for Prostate Cancer UK and to Ravensmeadow Golf Club for kindly covering the green fees for the day.

“As a team, we have loved taking part in the Big Golf Race over the years, but this was our swansong.

“Having raised around £10,000 across all eight times taking part, it feels like a good time to hang up our clubs”.
