[Music] Hi, I’m Thomas Aken, player on the DP World Tour and I’m here in Scottsdale, Arizona at the Truepec facility to test out the new TC 2022 mirror irons. Yeah, the reason why I’ve always enjoyed mura clubs is actually a few reasons really. One is I’ve always been a lover of a of a forged blade. The feeling you get when you hit it is just uncomparable to anything else. But the second thing is very much the profile of the clubs. I’m used to looking at the huzzle and seeing the leading edge just elongate from the huzzle to the toe and and seeing almost a a straight line. So, it makes it very easy to to aim the blade. That was really the original reason why I got into the mirrors was for the look of them. But then when you start hitting them, you start feeling the feel. And um once you go mirror, it’s very hard to go back. Got the 202 for you to hit here. Now, it’s a little different animal than the 101 for reasons. The story there was a vertical CG placement. So that’s what they did here. Low center of gravity on the long irons. And I know that you were talking a lot about the long irons not being able to get up in the air. Really more of a consistent ball flight, which I think is a lot of the stuff that we talked about and what you want to what you want out of a club. Yeah. [Music] So, first impressions, I was very surprised how soft that felt. When we hit so many balls as pros, we get so used to the feel of an iron that you don’t want it to feel miles away from where you’ve been at. I’m not being funny, that almost felt softer than the one in one. Okay. the triple forging that we do, the three strikes, that third strike is where the magic happens. And that’s why the mirror feels the way it feels. You certainly notice the difference between the feel of the mirror and and the feel of another another golf club. Yeah. And now aesthetically when you look at that with that with that tea bar, I know that’s a little bit different, but kind of kind of describe what you’re looking at. What’s great is, you know, you’ve still got your forged look. There’s nothing that’s been added on or welded on after the fact. you you you have your entire block here, which I’m a big believer in not having things stuck onto clubs or or weight put in one specific spot on a club like where guys can screw weight in. This this is this is designed into each head at the height that it needs to be. So, like you said earlier, the shorter the iron, the higher this T- bar is going to be to to keep ball flight down cuz you want to move the CG up on the face. Yep. And the longer the iron goes, the the the the tea bar gets moved down almost into the sole plate to get the ball up. I think it’s a a really smart way of doing it. What I like about it is the weight is spread evenly across the whole face. It’s not all clumped in the heel, all clumped in the toe, or all clumped in the middle. It’s it’s distributed. Um and distribution is really important because you don’t want a club to be a draw bias club or a fade bias club. You you want a club, especially at our level, to be a neutral golf club. Yeah. Just a stock cut. That’s going to scare it. Yeah. Real good. In certain turf conditions, I mean, we play I play in Europe. Um, so we play on all different types of turf and we’ll play Bermuda, Paspalum, Ry, Bent, Zoya, Lynx, um, you name it. So, we need something that works on everything. And I can see on this sole, they’ve already put pre-wear on the leading edge to counter that. Y grind we call that, which if you look at my clubs, I’ve worn that on my from from hitting it so many times. Yeah. You have your own little grind. [Music] Mhm. Nice low cut. That’s not an easy shot to hit. It is for you, though. The big thing is you I I need to be able to hold the ball against the wind. Yeah. You learn to shape the ball into the wind rather than playing with it. Because when the ball hits the ground, it doesn’t go very far, right? So, if it’s if you’re playing with it and hits the green, it’s going to run away from your target. Yeah. So, you’re really trying to hold it like a parachute into the wind to get the ball to stop. Yep. Uh, back to the the artistry of golf. And you got to have the right instrument, right? Got to have the right paint brush. That one was in the center. Yeah, that was good audio. Well, it seems like this is doing pretty much everything you want it to do. Yeah, I would agree with that. I’m very happy with what I felt today. Like the biggest thing was, is it going to feel the same as what I’m using, if not better, right? And I think it feels better. It feels better because you haven’t lost any of the softness at all. Good. And I’m definitely feel feeling a little bit more forgiveness. Awesome. That’s pretty much everything we we set out to do, right? I’m really excited to try and hit some of these on on some grabby turf and and and and out of the bunker. Yeah. I mean, the the way that that leading edge is ground, um, all the all the attention to detail when it comes to that stuff, I think I think that’s going to that’s going to work for you. Test went pretty much how how I thought it would. Uh, probably a little bit better, actually. I really didn’t expect the 202s to have as soft a feel as as as my 101’s. The big thing for me was the 202s have just as much workability as the 101’s. Um, I didn’t struggle to draw, fade, hit it low, hit it high. Um, if not, it was easier to actually do all of the above. very pleased with the way the fitting went. Um, as I’m sure you guys are well aware, Mirror is a great product and they’ve been doing great forged iron for many years. I’m really excited. I think these 202s are are going to be a huge breakthrough for for the Mura brand. Yes, we do like playing with pretty clubs, but first and foremost, we want to play with clubs that are easy to hit and look great, and you know, Mura ticks both of those boxes. [Music]

  1. Loveeeee my Miura’s Y grind Lefty. Just wish I had more options to update my older set. Everyone said as a newbie and 15hc I couldn’t hit them but they are insanely good and I strike so well they truly forced me to level up.
