BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – CASA of South Central Kentucky hosted its first ever mini golf fundraiser Tuesday, and there was plenty of fun to be had.
“It’s a great opportunity for people to come out and learn about CASA, play miniature golf and participate in the dunking booth,” executive director Melinda Hill said.
The donations benefit CASA and the work they do for children here in the community.
“This fundraiser focuses on the entire family. Our big fundraiser, Boogie Down Bourbon Street, is for adults only… so we thought this would be a great way for the entire family to come out, learn about CASA and have fun and support The Shack,” Hill said.
That work is incredibly important as they help out kids in the foster care and family court systems in our area.
“They help the most vulnerable in our community. As a former social worker and current attorney, I think what they do is just everything for the community… so we are out here enjoying ourselves, trying to raise money for the kids,” board member Aquesha Daniels said.
The main thing they’re in need of is volunteers to dedicate time to help those kids that need it most.
“You are the person who is their guide, their confidant, the person who checks on them and makes sure that they are going through the right processes. We need people who just want to help and a lot of times it’s just being an ear. It’s somebody to just listen because they are, again, going through the darkest time of their life in a lot of these cases,” incoming board president Ashley Badgett said.
