2025 Open featured players
With the amount of talent found in pro golf, truly anyone in the Open Championship field could win this week. But there are two players who could win the season by claiming the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush.
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and World No. 2 Rory McIlroy have matched each other blow-for-blow in 2025. Both have multiple Tour victories on the year, and both have already captured a major title this season, McIlroy at the Masters and Scheffler at the PGA.
Scheffler: ‘The feeling of winning only lasts a few seconds’
If either one is able to triumph this week, they’ll separate themsleves as the best golfer of the year. But there are plenty of other pros, like Bryson DeChambeau and Xander Schauffele, who will try to stop them.
