I’m not here to inspire somebody else to be the best player in the world because what’s the point, you know? This is not a fulfilling life. It’s it’s fulfilling from the sense of accomplishment, but it’s not fulfilling from a sense of like the deepest, you know, places of your heart. You know, there’s a lot of people that make it to what they thought was going to fulfill them in life, and then you get there and all of a sudden you get to number one in the world and they’re like, “What’s the point?” And, you know, I I really do believe that because, you know, what is the point? You’re like, “What? Why do I want to win this tournament so bad? That’s something that I wrestle with on a daily basis. It’s like showing up at the Masters every year. It’s like, why do I want to win this golf tournament so badly? Why do I want to win the open championship so badly? I don’t know. Because if I win, it’s going to be awesome for about 2 minutes and then we’re going to get to the next week and it’s going to be like, “Hey, you won two majors this year. How important is it for you to win the FedEx Cup playoffs?” And it’s just like we’re we’re back here again, you know? Um, so we really do, we work so hard for such little moments and um, you know, I’m kind of a sicko. I I love putting in the work. I love being able to practice. I love getting out to live out my dreams, but at the end of the day, sometimes I just don’t understand the point, you know, because I I don’t know if I’m making any sense or not, but um, am I not? It’s just it’s just one of those deals, you know? I I love the challenge. I love being able to play this game for a living. It’s it’s one of the greatest joys of my life. But does it fill the deepest, you know, wants and desires of my heart? Absolutely not. You know, that’s why I talk about family being my priority because it really is. You know, I’m blessed to be able to come out here and play golf, but if my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or with my son, you know, that’s going to be the last day that I play out here for a living. You know, this is not the beall end all. This is not the most important thing in my life. And that’s why I wrestle with why is this so important to me? because, you know, I would much rather be a great father than I would be a great golfer. You know, that at the end of the day, that that’s what’s more important to me. Yeah. I mean, I could not care any less about being the favorite or not being the favorite. We all start at even par and um tournament starts on Thursday. That’s pretty much all that matters. Um and in terms of Lynx golf, I I love the style of golf. I think it’s a ton of fun. I think you have to be creative. Um you have to hit a lot of really good shots. Um, and there’s, you know, there’s a challenge to it, but I think it’s a lot of fun. And, you know, we’ll see how the weather turns out this week. Weather has a pretty, uh, dramatic effect on how the golf course is going to play. And so, you know, you can play your practice rounds and prepare, but ultimately I think when you step on the team on Thursday, um, whatever the weather presents is going to be probably the strongest part of the test. It doesn’t really change yearbyear. You know, I don’t I don’t look at at wins and losses or stuff like that. I don’t I don’t sit down at the beginning of the year and say, I want to win x number of times. I want to win this many majors. I want to win this many tour events. That’s that’s not something that I do. That’s not something that works for me. You know, I have some dreams and aspirations that I’m always striving towards, but at the end of the day, I I try to stay present. I try to practice hard each and every day. And um I feel like for me, when I start looking too far into the future, I I think I’m a bit of a procrastinator. That’s how I always was in school. And so if it’s like if I wanted to look at my career and say I want to win let’s say five majors, you know, I I think sometimes when you’re a human, you just have that invincibility where you’re like, I’m just going to play professional golf my whole life. Like this stage is never going to end. But, you know, ultimately it’s not. And I’m only going to be doing this for a finite amount of time. And so what works best for me is just to stay present, continue to put in the work, which I would argue is probably the most fun part for me. I love I love being able to practice and um that’s what I enjoy doing. And um you know, just trying to get the most out of myself each day. Well, yeah. I think the rankings are being number one in the world is is a great accomplishment. I think as a golfer, I think as a professional to be ranked as as the best in the world, I think is a is a huge career accomplishment. I don’t think that it should be taken lightly. But you don’t become number one in the world by thinking about rankings. You don’t stay number one in the world thinking about rankings. You know, each tournament is its own challenge. And um you know, it’s funny. It’s like the look at this week for example. What’s the best case scenario is I win this golf tournament and then I’m going to show up in Memphis and it’s like, okay, listen, you know, you won two majors this year. What are you going to do this week? That that’s the question you’re going to get asked. And if I come in second this week or if I finish dead last, it’s no matter what happens, we’re always on to the next week. And so that’s one of the beautiful things about golf and it’s also one of the frustrating things because you can have such great accomplishments, but you know, the show goes on and um that’s just how it is. You know, it’s it’s great to to win tournaments. It’s a lot of fun. Um sometimes the feeling only lasts about 2 minutes it seems like, you know, when you’re celebrating and then it’s like, okay, now you got to go do all this other stuff. And um which is great, but you know, sometimes the feeling of winning only lasts a few seconds. and um you know it’s pretty uh exciting and fun, but it just doesn’t last that long. Yeah, I think I think having the ability to rank all the golfers in the world is really important. I think when you have guys always playing a different schedule, it can be very hard to rank player versus player. That was always difficult for us, I would say, in amateur golf because you have so many different tournaments and guys aren’t playing against each other every week. um that it’s really hard to rank, you know, a guy that plays, you know, junior golf on the west coast versus a guy that plays junior golf on the east coast. You know, they may only play together two or three times a year. It can be very difficult to rank who is the best player when it’s like that. And so, in terms of the world ranking points, I think the more often we can get the best players in the world playing together, I think the better. And that’ll only be better for the rankings as

Scottie has it figured out. Everything in life is fleeting. We try to fill a God-shaped hole within ourselves with everything that isn’t God. Nothing we can acquire gives us lasting feelings. Only a daily relationship with God lasts because that’s how He wired us. Guns N Roses said it best: “I used to do a little bit a little wouldn’t do it so a little got more and more.” Nothing permanently satisfies but a relationship with our Creator.
Is it really though or is he just talking the truth that most people don’t usually share. I think the depth of what he is saying is so powerful. It’s a thing he love and enjoys but it’s not his identity. Which I think allows him to perform at such a high level so consistently. At the end of the day being the best version of yourself is the goal, he knows if he does that the rest will follow. Absolutely love this and so glad he shared this. Very powerful statement. Make your own journey and don’t be defined but one thing. But yourself and the rest is just an extension of that.
Spoken like a man with $100 million in the bank.
Find God brother
Its easy to get philosophical and speak about whats really important when yer born in a country club and filthy rich
Because your name goes on the Claret Jug for all time.. Ask Calc.
I thought he was boring…
He’s deep.
Working so hard for little moments is an eye opening perspective
It would have been awesome if he suddenly switched to imitating the voice of Bill Murray's character in Caddyshack, would have totally fit and been hilarious.
Easy to aay after he's made millions.
Tiger caught a stray.
Scottie hitting his existential phase, gonna be a menace at future French Opens!
bro has made $200m in 5 years..
Theres literally no point to any game or sport 😂 we just do them to keep busy in this journey called life that we don’t even know the point of
Each human being, each athlete, is driven in different ways by success and failure. He’s unusual answer here. He’s unlike most. but it’s that simple.
Once you have a family, everything else just loses more and more of their importance in your life. It’s great to have great hobbies or a great job and to go live life to the fullest but your family is #1 by a mile.
Because we are told why. But it’s not actually why. Our true thoughts are hidden from the repetitive media and voices used to control us and our thoughts
Sounds like Scottie is not playing for legacy, maybe he’s more suited then to LIV? Only problem is that he’d have to play outside of the US more than twice a year
Hahaha legend
Bro just wants to play golf and that’s it, makes perfect sense
Some families live with not much money at all. Why wine about your life.
Tiger had a different view
Having enough money to never have to do anything ever again makes it easy to say .
Nice to be able to afford having this view but 99% of people have to prioritize work to allow the family to eat and have a place to live. Sacrifices most parents are very familiar with. Rich golfer can play less and spend more.
Its his competitive spirit clashing with maturity. Good man there
Big fan of Scottie
Can't take anything seriously from someone with religious beliefs
Becoming a father is a BIG deal. He’s still fairly new to it. If one is paying attention, one grows up pretty fast. He clearly is. Nicklaus said this stuff back in the day, too, but back then society wasn’t driven by narcissistic excess, so it didn’t seem special or strange.
Don’t see anything wrong with what he said. He’s a real man who knows his priorities. God, Family, then maybe golf.
What’s the point…….I think the guy needs to see a shrink.
He still needs a paycheck though.. and why not pro golf?
The point is to have fun, every day, forever. Sad people are social criminals. Being depressed, forcing problems onto people not being paid to help sad people is a social crime. But a golfer is allowed a mental breakdown. Being scared to wear the crown is ok. But try not to train A.I. to be evil. Apps should only improve people. An app that doesn't is to be avoided
You can be a great father and a great golfer. It's not like you have to suck at golf to be a great father, nor do you have to be a great gofler to be a dead beat dad.
So important to have your faith! Love Scottie for this
Tru christian man family over mammon
He said he loves the game and loves to practice. He just loves his family more. No drama, just honest answers.
He has it right. Golf secondary to family and joy of life.
What an absolute legend! In the longer team it’s a game and a job ❤
