Go behind the scenes with Genesis Magma Racing driver Jamie Chadwick as she takes on the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open Pro-Am.

Welcomed with true Korean ‘Son Nim’ hospitality – treating every guest like family – Jamie arrived to find her own locker beside recent career Grand Slam winner Rory McIlroy’s in the players’ locker room. After signing in at the Genesis Hospitality Lounge, she warmed up on the driving range, chatting with major winners JJ Spaun and Matt Fitzpatrick and PGA TOUR winner Thomas Detry for some final tips.

A quick refuel at the Genesis Player Café set her up for her first nine holes alongside seven-time DP World Tour winner Tommy Fleetwood before changing at the turn to play with local favourite Calum Hill. Throughout the day, Jamie reflected on the parallels between racing and golf – from the precision, focus, and mental resilience both demand, to the physical challenges unique to each.

[Music] I’ve actually never been to Scotland for golf and I’ve never been to the Renaissance Club. So yeah, this is very special indeed. I’ve done one program before and I was incredibly nervous I remember in the buildup and so definitely already I’m feeling a bit better, but I’m super excited honestly. It’s going to be such an epic day for any golf fan. I’m playing with Tommy Fleetwood on the first nine. Um, which is for me as good as it gets. I love his playing style, his character, everything. Um, and then the back now we’ve got a Scottish player, Callum Hill, so that’s also quite cool. I think maybe a bit of local knowledge might help. The rough looks tough and the greens look tough and it all kind of just looks tough. So, yeah, I’m not setting myself any expectations. Morning, guys. Morning. It’s so funny, isn’t it? It’s like you can do a sport and you can think that you know how to manage mentally certain situations, but then you try something new and it’s a completely different kettle of fish. I’m Sam. Welcome to Been here before. Would you like to come over? Oh, wow. Definitely definitely no stars next to my name. That’s wow. I’m obviously competitive. I think everyone is uh anyone in sport. Um but I think there’s a certain degree of kind of calmness and focus and I think that’s kind of what I like in golf as well. It’s that kind of crossover that that we have. Um but yeah, it’s a very different pace sport. I think the kind of aggression required and the kind of character that’s required in motorsport is quite different to what you have in golf, which is why I enjoy it so much. Photographic engine. Thank you. Yeah, lovely. Thank you. When I was in America, um, a few of my teammates played, so that was quite nice cuz in between races, we would always play. Now, I know a lot of the F1 drivers went through a phase of playing quite a lot. Uh, I think Lando still plays. Carlos is very good from what I can see. Yeah, I think there’s definitely like a bit of a culture where racing drivers seem to love golf, which is cool. Hey, Jamie. Lovely to meet you. You, too. Be patient with me. As well, so don’t worry. It’s never going to be your fault. Don’t worry. Morning. How you doing? All right. Oh jeez. this is doing. I need to like hide all the We have a bit of a code word. If I hit a bad shot, they’re going to say they need to film it again for filming purposes. So, I’m going to hit another shot and it’s going to be perfect. Two out of three ratio at the moment of good shots to bad shots. Jamie, how are you? You okay? You fine, mate. Uh Tommy in the morning. Oh, and then I think Callum. Oh, okay. Yeah, Callum’s a really nice kid. Yeah, he’s a nice guy. Nice swing. Well, no, no, it’s a very for a while, right? Yeah. Yeah. This is the pro tour, right? Yeah, exactly. Nice. Nice to meet you. You, too. I think when you’re younger, I used to put so much pressure on myself. I had to do everything perfectly. Now, I’m a bit more relaxed. So, I always try and do as much as I can in the buildup to an event so that when I get to a race, I know I’m prepared and I don’t have to worry so much. If I could say the same about golf, that would help. But there’s a lot more variables, it seems, with golf than than in racing sometimes. Hey, how are you? Good. How are you? I’m Thomas. Lovely to meet you. Yeah, good. You got a great target today. Yes, I do. I’ve got no excuses on that front. It should be good. Right. Yes. Yeah. Amazing. When is your next race? Uh, few weeks. So, I’ve got a little bit of time off. As a golf fan, yeah, I associate Genesis with being at the highest level of golf as well. Um, and so yeah, to see it kind of in the flesh, the level that they operate at, and then obviously bringing that into motorsports is super impressive. Thank you. Yeah, there’s a bit of a mix. We got some in there. Are all the greens the same? Yeah, it went where they did this like announcement like they would announce you onto the team and I was actually fine until that happened and then it was like hand to just started shaking. Yes, Jamie. Tommy, nice to meet you. Hey, Russell. How are you? You have been playing golf a long time? Not really. Maybe 3, four years. Yeah, I really enjoy it. It’s such a great game. I think it’s a really good distraction. Like it you can’t think of anything else so much when you’re on the golf course. And it’s a really nice way to take your mind off of the stresses of day-to-day life, which is nice. Easy. Just like that. On the tea, Jamie Chadwick. The left tree. Yeah. Got you. Okay, that went a bit better than what I was expecting. I was like, we’re off. Oh, no. Looked up. Second shot wasn’t so good, but could have been a lot worse. So, the hardest bit’s done. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Ps don’t count. Doing my well. It’s just a great game. like it’s it’s enjoyable. Even if you have a bad day, it’s still it’s never a bad day. It’s always a good day to get out on a golf course. I think it’s a nice thing to just between races have that kind of feeling of just doing something that you enjoy and be able to switch off. Oh my god, what the [Applause] two right? I didn’t hit it enough. [Music] Oh. [Applause] [Music] Every now and then I’m like, I wish I played golf professionally. And then every now and then, or most of the time, I realize this. You think it makes golf. It’s all relative, isn’t it? [Music] Oh, made up for the first one. Oh, yeah. You’re just playing the line with us, aren’t you? Yeah. Yeah, you can get rid of me now. Got much. Um, good luck with everything. It really nice play with you, too. Good luck this week. Thank you very much. See you soon. Cheers. Cheers. Nice to meet you. Good luck this week. Hey, sorry. Jamie Russell, how you doing? I think when I’m racing, um, a lot of it is shutting out noise. I My favorite bit is putting the helmet on and being in the car cuz you’re on your own and no one can talk to you. Something in golf that’s very relevant. No slice. What a um for me like that’s what makes me play golf like I’ll happily leave today forget about everything else just remember that moment and uh yeah we’ve jumped up the leaderboard as well so uh it’s going well it’s a little bit more closer to a road car kind of. Okay. Terms of like transition of technology and stuff like that. Do you have a picture of the car you drive? Yeah. Probably be easier. Let’s see. Oh, wow. Cool. So, it’s like a more like a prototype. Yeah. Yeah. Uh with a roof and things and then Yeah. Our big races. Slim on. Yeah. Wow. My god. Oh my god. What a shot. You tell me. Eight or seven. Driving for Genesis Magma Racing. Yeah, it’s the dream. The thing that Genesis do so well is they want to do everything properly and the attention to detail is always there. No, that’s left of the flag. Good effort. You know, it’s a group of people all working together to try and achieve one thing and to all be on kind of very much a similar level. And I think that resonates in golf as well. So, um, yeah, it’s a very special environment to be in. They don’t do anything by halves. they want to be um you know there with the very best in every element. As a driver it’s the dream cuz it’s it’s exactly what you want. Just pick the holes I want to play. It’s been an incredible day. Any chance to play golf is always a good day in my mind. We’re so lucky to be able to play a course like this and be treated to to watch some of the pros as well. It’s awesome. Jamie, long you too. It’s a wrap. Looking forward to hopefully coming back next year and yeah, seeing what we can do. See you.

  1. Such a good choice to have Jamie there. She's a brilliant driver, and she'll be a superb ambassador for the brand, if that's planned. It should be. 👍

  2. She comes across as really nice and plays well for only being 3 or 4 years into the game .!
