The PGA Tour this week features the 2025 British Open Championship starting on Thursday at Royal Portrush Golf Club in Portrush, Northern Ireland.
My PGA Tour field ranking for British Open Championship looks at the top 10 players in this 156-player field that brings together the best in the world for the tune-up for The Open.
The British Open Championship is back, and this is my favorite tournament in the world. Royal Portrush is incredible, and the atmosphere will be amazing. There’s a good mix of easy holes and ones that are absolutely brutal.
Just a reminder that I make my expert picks looking at all fantasy leagues and formats. Whether you’re playing in a fantasy golf leagues, betting on golf, or competing in a DFS (DraftKings, FanDuel) event, our picks highlight the top PGA Tour golfers to watch this week from our 2025 British Open Championship rankings.

2025 British Open Championship expert picks and rankings
1. Scottie Scheffler: In this odd 2025, Scheffler is still the best player in the world, though he has yet to shine out on links-style golf like he does in the States.
2. Rory McIlroy: McIlroy had another close call at The Renaissance Club, and that has to build some confidence heading back home.
3. Viktor Hovland: I have a good feeling about Hovland the next couple of weeks, with the conditions and style maybe clearing up his mind.
4. Jon Rahm: Rahm has clearly been trending in a better direction in majors, and he does love some Irish links-style golf.
5. Xander Schauffele: Xander found friendly soil and did something great with it here this week in Scotland, so does that carry over to defend this title?

6. Bryson DeChambeau: Bryson has to at least be considered, though I do think this style of golf kind of flummoxes him.
7. Tommy Fleetwood: Fleetwood with a middling T-34 in Scotland leads me to wonder if he was kind of dogging it to get ready for this week.
8. Sepp Straka: Straka had a nice performance at The Renaissance Club, and maybe that spurs him on to finish the majors season on a good note.
9. Matt Fitzpatrick: Fitz seems clearly back to me, and that’s huge for him heading into a major championship where his ballstriking should come in handy.
10. Ludvig Aberg: At some point, Ludvig has to kind of even out his wildly inconsistent performances, and he started that last week in Scotland.
