Jakenap is soaking up the full Scottish golf experience ahead of his debut at the Genesis Scottish Open, and he’s doing it in style. The 31-year-old PGA Tour winner joined several fellow pros this week in honoring a beloved tradition playing around at the legendary North Barrett Golf Club before the co-sanction tournament at the Renaissance Club Te’s off. Nap, who arrived in Scotland fresh off a T-21 finish at the John Deere Classic, wasted no time embracing the local Lynx culture. Landing in the country on Monday morning, he quickly took up Ricky Fowler’s recommendation to play North Barrack, calling the experience pretty amazing. There’s so much history there, Nap told Bunker to see UK. We experienced all kinds of weather, plenty of wind, a little rain, and it cleared up and was just perfect on the back nine. Nap made the trip to the course with his father, who also serves as his caddy. The pair landed around 10:00 a.m., settled into their accommodation, and hit the fairways by late afternoon. It’s my first time in Scotland, and North Barrack was our first stop, he said. Everyone was telling me it was a mustplay. Ricky Fowler told me that I had to go, so I figured it was a great way to kick off the week. The Genesis Scottish Open marks Knap’s first appearance in the Rolex Series event, but he’s already planning ahead. If he earns a return trip in 2026 when the tournament is once again scheduled at the Renaissance Club, Nap says a second visit to North Barrack will definitely be on the cards as for other courses on his bucket list. One iconic open championship venue stands out. I’d love to play Mirfield. Nap said it’s probably not going to happen this week, but hopefully one day, maybe even in the open itself. For Nap, the Lynx golf experience is as much about adaptation as it is appreciation. You just don’t get this kind of golf in the States. He said it’s a completely different style. You can use the slopes, play the ball low or high. It really lets you be creative. Sure, you can hit the range and fine-tune your swing, but the best preparation is just getting out there and hitting shots on real links courses. Knap wasn’t the only PGA Tour player to take on North Barrack this week. Daniel Burgerer, Michael Kim, and Ryan Fox also made the pilgrimage to the famed seaside layout, continuing a timehonored tradition that shows no signs of fading.
