In the opening round of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open, Viktor Hovland turned in a bogey-free 4-under 66, placing him two strokes off the lead heading into Friday.
The PGA TOUR heads across the pond for the Genesis Scottish Open. The event, co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, is set to boast a field consisting of many of the world’s top players including FedExCup and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, back in action for the first time since the Travelers Championship. Scheffler will be joined by 2022 champion Xander Schauffele and fellow two-time major champion Collin Morikawa. Recent U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun is also in the field, meaning all four reigning major champions will tee it up this week. Robert MacIntyre returns to defend his home country’s open, which he won in dramatic fashion in 2024, and is attempting to become the first to go back-to-back in tournament history. Rory McIlroy, a previous winner at the Genesis, will be looking to regain form before The Open is played in his native Northern Ireland the following week.

and Victor misses just off to the left there. Didn’t love it, but sent that high in the air. sometimes high in the air can get eaten up. Oh, what a shot. That is fantastic from Victor Hoffen. That is the type of player we are always waiting on the edge of our seat to see return to form. So, even a short putt like this will snap hard on Vic. Has to commit to the lineup. It’s scrambling to start. [Applause] That’ll end up in the right rough. Those two birdies on this hole today. Ludvig Oberg and Joel Damon. That’s a really good place to land the golf ball. Middle of the green again. Not going to get all the way back there from the rough. Battling back to some fine form. Green and two at the second. Pouring it in. 600 yards, but when the wind direction is correct on a but yes, you’re right. This is a great angle for Havlin to come in even though he’s welled back compared to Shaveley and Maroy. That is spectacular. Hang on. That might just push off the back of this green, but still down into that goalie. That is a great place to be in two for Victor Hofflin on this par five third. Made a 50-footer on the last hole. And that one just stalled as it was making its way up that hill. It’s just a little bobble right off the putter face. [Applause] And that’s why there are no pictures on the scorecard. He gave that one a big lash. Let’s let me just chase him down the right hand side. Ooh, 52 yds here for Victor. That’s more like it. That is delightful. Victor has worked so hard from inside of a 100 yards. Victor’s been waiting a while for his birdie putt after Xander and Rory both made five here. And to under he goes. [Applause] Oh, son’s going to need to stay left and hustle a little bit. Oh, and that’s what I was talking about. He landed that probably 10, 12 yards away from the bunker. It will absolutely change the perspective as this is just we’ve seen a few shots out of this bunker here that is just spectacular from Victor. You can see I mean he he had legs a really wide stance very quiet with that lower base and just he I don’t know less than 12 13 yards from the from the hole. And you can see the size of his back swing there. flips the hands, generates as much loft as he can to get that ball straight up in the air. Yeah, this hole used to be played as a par five. So, at 497 yards, it is still rather treacherous. We’ve got bunkers that the players need to avoid off the T line. So, as you said. Okay, we’re out. It’s no different from if you just took a little sandwich and just popped it out. It’s fine. Oh my goodness. All right, so tell me this, Christina. You would you you could be in some other golf courses in different regions of the world. Third here for Havland from 113 yards out. And a good shot there. He’ll have that left for Paul. [Applause] Drive. Now, which banks are you going to hit? A down slope or an ups slope? Uhoh. A bit of a down slope. Galloping away. Makes a huge difference if you can find a down slope. So, the green I think will be in range. Okay. But it’s not an easy green to find. A good line. Yeah, that’s very a little unlucky, but a high high quality shot. There’s hardly a flat spot up there for the screen. So, to keep it from just absolutely moving uh straight left when it lands. A little latte van. A new addition to this championship. As I walk to the next position, I might get one of those double shot two sweeteners, please. So Holland and Shley moving on up three under Mroy. Nice. Yep. Fourth easiest hole on the course today. He’s not confident hitting the fade right now. Both players long enough to take the bunkers out of play down the right hand side. 182 yds trying to nudge a six. You couldn’t have the the wind in a better direction to get at this flag today. It’s begging to be stiffed. back. We had a great idea. What? Just not a not a gimme. It is now. We’ve seen enough today to know his partner’s best. Thanks for watching the PJ tour on YouTube. For more, click here. And to subscribe, click here.
