Check out the best shots of the day from Round 1 of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open, featuring Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Sepp Straka.
The PGA TOUR heads across the pond for the Genesis Scottish Open. The event, co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, is set to boast a field consisting of many of the world’s top players including FedExCup and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, back in action for the first time since the Travelers Championship. Scheffler will be joined by 2022 champion Xander Schauffele and fellow two-time major champion Collin Morikawa. Recent U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun is also in the field, meaning all four reigning major champions will tee it up this week. Robert MacIntyre returns to defend his home country’s open, which he won in dramatic fashion in 2024, and is attempting to become the first to go back-to-back in tournament history. Rory McIlroy, a previous winner at the Genesis, will be looking to regain form before The Open is played in his native Northern Ireland the following week.

on the PGA tour delicate with this Christina. Yeah, again this was one of the was probably one of the best places to try and get up and down from because you have diagonally the should hold its line early this and then go right to left halfway this one for Sheffller. What a start. Good morning Scotland. That was just magnificent. An eagle at the 10. He’s going to go a nice little low ball flight. F feet up the back of the screen. Ah, this is absolutely delightful. And he has that slight back stop beyond the flag. You see? Oh yeah. A brilliant drive down the right half. Just staring this flag right down and saying, “Have me.” It really is. Oh, I’m the best out of the three. Yes, that’s his first birdie today. So, he’s off and running. That’s some amazing finishes, including Bobby Mack last year, as you mentioned. That’s pretty delicate by Sep. Really showing some strong play right now around the green. Not strong wind from the right and hurting. like it maybe has made his way onto the surface. There we go. Now the sweet swing inberg big shot. Ah, beauty to join the leading pack. Started over the bunk and just let it drift in. Very comfortable hitting the ball right to left, which is a fade for Bob. That’s another absolute cracker. Getting better and better. Local knowledge, but this is a sucker pin. Got to play past it. Oh, great shot by Straa. Stop. So played safe there. Co-leader Sept Straa. Chance for the outright lead once again. Well, the eyes are going up and down. Normally a good sign. Yeah, lovely stuff from Sheffl. Potter has been pretty good. He’s drawn a nice line. A bit of grass against him, but loads of acres of space of green to work with. Coming up over a little brown go on. That is how you come back to make a birdie. Seth Straa judge it. Oh, what about this one? A real Scottish shot there. What about this one, Sony? There you go, Jamie. That’s how they do it. That was magnificent. Oh, yeah. Gave it the most pace of anyone in the group. And Vic still, he’s shaking his head. Even the good shots, he can’t believe at this point. 52 yards here for Victor. That’s more like it. That is delightful. Victor has worked so hard inside of a 100 yards and hitting a smart shot. And the fans out here know like Rory’s trying to play a little bit of a a saw off cut there. He’s a dangerous man. [Applause] found a par five in two. One of the six multiple winners on the PGA tour in 2025. And Foxy knocking it in from downtown. Ryan Fox, remember, down the right hand side of 10. Second shot still on the right. Up and over you go. Oh jeez. Did the key thing. He carried the slope. Carried it onto the flat of the green. happened to hit on a little ups slope. So, a good line. Yeah, that’s very a little unlucky, but high high quality shot. There’s hardly a flat spot up there from the screen. So, to keep it from just absolutely moving uh straight left when it lands. A little latte van, a new addition to this championship. As I walk to the next position, I might get one of those double shot. Two sweetness, please. So, Holland and Shley moving on up three under Mroy top of the hill. 12. Ryan Fox pouring it in. Couple of big putts from Brian Fox today. Left hand side of the par five 16. That’s very well thought out from [Music] Ryan Fox. Not much left here. Can he get this second shot all the way back there? Trying to throw it right off that slope and gain some momentum instead of trying to land it all the way back there. Let the ground do the work for him. That is very well played. Playing downhill back into the breeze. Clubbing up a little bit. Got to flight it. Can miss this a little left and it will camber nicely towards the flag. Great one. and to be able to land that soft at this. Every time I watch Ryan Fox now, I I think of the three wood that he hit when his second event on the PGA tour. One of the best finishes we’ve had throughout the course of the year. A sensational shirt there and one in his own words as was probably the best he’s hit in these careers. Turn on the left. It’s pretty good. Never in doubt. Pours it in the front door. It’s four birdies in the last five holes for Vector Perez. No stranger to Scotland. You do not want that kick to kick right down there in a nasty dark little dell over there on the right hand side and short some side yourself. Go. [Music] What a lovely bounce. Come on. Done well. Three or four yards to the right and you’re in that dingly dell that Radar was talking about. Well, this is just what you want. A nice little eagle on this hole. Instead, it looks like it’ll be a birdie, but it should move Rory back to even par. Yeah, maybe gave it a little too much respect. And Rory obviously hit a beautiful shot out of the first cut to get down there. But the spot where Xander, the line where Xander got to is a little bit more manageable. Big bird. Big birds and a lovely birdies there for Rory Mroy. You’ll fancy this one. Uh stay stay. [Applause] It’s all good now. Slightly out of his left. A quite remarkable finish from the grand slam champion. And what a difference these frozen holes make for Thanks for watching the PJ tour on YouTube. For more, click here.
