Yes, thank you. This LRA edition is the fourth edition of the LRA ladies group uh open uh all the clubs in Uganda has lady sections and we are governed by the Uganda ladies golf union and we are asked always every year to organize a ladies open. So this year is our fourth edition. We are organizing uh for the the ladies open champion. Yeah, this tournament is for girls. The elite growth mostly is the thing and then they are also subsidiary but the elite growth grows is the ladies and then also their gross men also playing. Uh we have the defending champion which is Pis Kasa. She’s around. I’m glad she has come to defend what defending herself in L. Yeah. And some others have come like Chongisha Meron. Yeah. Martha also is around. Yeah. We have quite a number of them. And then we also have the men elite girls who have come also. Yes. And they are playing for money. So we have put 4 million for the lady lead gross ladies and 2 million for the lead gross men. Then the subsidiaries also um they will take things like trophies. Yes. And maybe some coupons. Yeah. Uh it is to put ladies together to showcase their talents into golf. Yes. And it brings us together, the ladies together, you know, I say golf, we are like a family. Yeah. So, it’s a good thing to do that. We had challenges. Yes. But I want to thank the LRA golf uh club team from the captain, treasurer, mean secretary, you know, those executive team for the hard work they have done. Even the artisans what they have done to make this course what it is. Even the greens I’m I’m so excited the greens are coming up. They have really worked hard to make sure in especially the greens are their player. Yeah. Every July is little ladies open. Everybody knows about that. So next year July we are on again you know like I’m a lady captain. I’m a mama so I would want everything to be right. So I had to go to companies, you know, corporate companies to ask for sponsorship and I want to thank them for hearing my cry and especially NBS being here and now we are joined with QFM, our local uh radio station. They have also the TV. I’m so grateful for them to partner with us and I hope you will continue. they will continue helping us. Tomorrow I’m going to play for the seniors. These days now I I’m in a senior category you know now they are put in golf there is the girls the net players and uh now the seniors they have a category we play as seniors. Yeah, like I I told you before, it is the cost mainly is the cost. Golf is played on a cost. So you need to cut the cost. You need to work on the greens well and uh that is money and I told you we are very few members here. So it keeps on coming from our pockets to make sure the cost is right. So that’s why I I I want corporates if they could come in and help us you know to maintain the cost actually the cost maintenance is the is our problem. Yes. Yeah. We are mentoring a lot of uh we are starting from youth from five up to like 17. Those are youth. We are mentoring them during school vacations. they come and then we train them both here and recently also in the during the international women’s day I organized a a competition here and many new ladies came and they are very excited to join the golf yes we are working so hard to make sure the young ones come in to join golf for continuity when we are now not playing they will continue to play the golf we are it was almost going the little golf course. Uh like I said before, some seniors came in and then they rescued the force. Now we have a land title of 49 years. And recently we had already put a chain link on the little hotel side. Some thieves came and cut off all the chain link. So those are the challenges also we are having. If the city can uh give us that would be good because uh the golf course now in the city is the heart of the city because the golf course is the green belt. So it is the heart of the city. The city is breathing well because of the golf course being green. Yeah. We are still we have to still wait from the city. If they give us a go ahead, we’ll thank them because it’s for the good. We need to have a green belt around the city. The first best go that I made in golf that was an eagle. I got an eagle when we went to play golf in Egypt in 2010. I’ve got now four allin ones. Yes, I all I got them all from Yogana Golf Club. Of course, Tiger Woods in MRO for now. He’s just calm, you know. He takes things easy. I watch him last time when he played. Oh, I had a lot of stress, but eventually won. He’s a calm guy. Cool. Yeah, I would love to get another hole in one. I’m facing Cruz where the home is the home of golf. golf started in St. Andrews. Yes. When I was young, I was in net golf. Yes. Oh, and uh I was even the the the team leader. Yes. But that was in primary. Yes. Definitely. Man, you because we lived in Manchester and we shared the same wall fence with all Traford and we would watch it from our bedroom balcony. So we became man. you up to now? Yes, I watch it. Oh wow. And what’s your But anyway, not much now. Not much now. I don’t even know many the names of the teams now. Those days I used to know all of them. But when you when it as a Manu fan, what’s your best memory when it comes to Manu? When did it last make you happy? Oh, when did it when did Manu make you extremely happy? Extremely happy. There was a time day one. Okay. It’s sometime when it was Rooney. Yeah. When Rooney was there or it was my time. Yeah. I loved it that time when Rooney was there. I think that was the last time I was always, you know, making sure I I watch. Yeah. So, yeah. Golf is very good. It’s a mind game. It helps you mentally, you know. They should join golf. It’s good to be in some spot. So, I would prefer they join golf because golf you can join any time. Yeah. It keeps you going. Exercise, mental game, you know, you socialize, you become a family. Like at my age, 65, I can I’m a lady captain. I can come to the golf club. I can be with my family. Then I go back home. I’m okay. But at 65, I cannot go to clubs like Anenua or Vintage. They will look at me and say, “Ah, what is, you know, this old lady doing?” But at the golf club, it’s my family, my second home. They should join golf. You know, it’s like a family. you socialize and you network. I mean those who haven’t been at club, what advice would you give them or please call them to come not to miss out on the next one on the next edition of the Yeah, they they are missing out. They should come and see what happens. Yeah, they should come and see what happens. They’re missing a lot. Thank you so much. Um I’m called Aayaka Emily. Uh I’m a new recruit at Rav Club. Um the lady captain had a program. Uh it was about like the international women golf day. So we were recruited actually about 30 people. So I’m representing I’m standing for the 30 of us. Yeah. We were recruited and like yeah I I got to love golf. I got inspired actually by her cuz like she’s elderly and she’s playing golf. So I got taken. Yeah, it is beneficial cuz first of all healthwise you’re able to exercise actually like moving this course all around. It’s a it’s a very good exercise cuz someone like me I don’t really have time to go to the gym. I don’t have time to walk around the town. So the only time I get to exercise actually it’s at the golf course coast. And then also networking like I’ve got to network with people who are corporate since I’m a business person actually it has helped my business. Yeah. So I’m able to get clients who are corporate. Uh I really want to go very far with playing golf through the extent of being actually actually let me say I’m aiming to be the best in Uganda as a lady. Uh I joined golf actually last month. I’m a golfer. I started playing golf in 1990 since Uganda golf club. I played for a very long time and even from 1990 up to today I’m still playing golf and I really thank God for that that I can still manage to play golf. I’ve won so many trophies and my best moment, okay, when I played in South Africa in the Gary Club, I made a a surprise score there. My ball went and hit a but a rock in the water and went to the green and I got a a bar. Everybody was just celebrating that was sometimes when I was dealing with young sport it is unhealthy you know golf is a game of mine so if your mind is disturbed you can’t play but it’s a healthy game and I really love it because at my age now I’m I’m going to be 76 in August so you can see that golf has kept me fit And I also got a hole in one way back in 1993. I’ve been won a ladies championship 1998 in Campala. I’ve been a lady captain in Campala 2000 up to 2002 and I was secretary to the union again from 204 to 206 I think. Then I came back to LA in 2012. So I’ve been a lady captain in LA from 2013 up to last year when I had the captainship and I’ve been training children. I started training children in Campala during holidays and in LRA here we do the same during holidays. So really I think my journey to I love it because they have kept me going. I thank my family especially my children and my grandchildren. They support me a lot in golf and my late brother-in-law and late sister-in-law are the ones Ben and Florence are the ones who introduce me to golf otherwise I didn’t think I would play golf. So I really thank them may they race in peace and now that I’m in LRA I’m still training children during holidays. Thank you very much APS for always being there for us Yes.
