Has anybody else gone through a period of time where they thought the game of golf was fading out of your life? or perhaps your life has changed and golf was no longer gonna be fitting in whether it be physical issues or even just losing the itch?
I've been dealing with many of those emotions this year. The last 3 or 4 summers id play twice a week or more all summer long. But this year I never got the itch to get out there in the spring like I normally do. I just played my first 18 holes of the year and it brought all of the love back.
Played solo at 6:10 am with one group ahead of me that actually played at pace (which is becoming so incredibly rare)
The weather was perfect, the course was in good shape and I played great. No waiting on every shot. Just flow and focus. At this particular course id never even broke 80 This course treats me like its little bitch but not today.

Golf is great!

Perfect weather, perfect score (for me at least) and perfect pace.

    Definitely one you will remember.

bogey’d the first two holes and ended up shooting a +2 on the weekend after a month of very poor play including two tournaments i had been looking forward to. golf giveth.

My give and take is usually the same round
This weekend I shot 42 on the front nine – then went to shite and shot 52 on the back.
Still a good day on the golf course, but I had hopes on the 10 tee that went to a triple bogey.
I’m playing 9 tonight with my league – hope I find the 42 and not the 52😳

Years ago when I was in my 20s, I played golf all the time. I practiced multiple times a week, played rounds several times a week. I got to the point where I was breaking par on a regular basis, but always shooting in the low 70s. I had my swing wired.

And then one day I was playing a round and I just felt the golf bug leave me. I don’t remember the exact hole, but I remember the course. I don’t think I picked up a golf club again for probably 10 years. Now I might play one round a year just for fun. I still have my clubs – an old set of Wilson blades and some McGregor persimmons I’m basically just conversation pieces now

    I still don’t know why that happened….

Not really. I’ve been playing for pretty much 35 years since I was 5/6.

I’ve had cycles where I’ve played 150-175 rounds for a few years and cycles where I’ve played 35-50. I’m good for a couple a month at minimum. If I don’t play, my wife notices a shift in my mood if I’ve gone 10-12 days without hitting golf balls.

I have noticed that I view it differently from time to time. I still go and play or practice but I’m doing it almost out of habit because I know I like it deep down. I can’t think of a time where I’ve turned it down if offered but I have toned it down if my swing is really off. But, that usually only lasts a week or two.

Currently, I’m on a major upswing. I’ve been fairly frustrated since covid-ish time frame as my game slowly disintegrated and I didn’t know why. I had a couple lessons two months back and have focused on some pretty basic setup/swing thoughts. The game and the joy has come back. I’m playing a couple times a week and going to the range a few times.

Being able to string together multiple rounds or multiple range days where the swing feels solid has been great. Handicap is finally trending down below 5 again, so that’s good. Goal is to be under 2 next year.

Nice. I would play at 6:10 am but by the time the sun comes up I feel like I should be getting to bed.

2 rounds ago I could barely hit the ball and I got nailed in the face with a ball. Last round I broke 90 and had one of my best rounds in years.

  13. You might have to make that the last round too… A round that fast and well scoring is some pretty good giveth. The taketh could be a 6 hour round and you shoot a 107.

Congrats! To celebrate, I bought new mizuno irons. Happy for ya!
