It has been a heck of a week for the Phillies starters including Rangers Suarez. The Phillies fans get a chance to see him pitch again here in Cincinnati. This is where he made his major league debut. Hunter has been really good on the mound. It’s just a matter of he can get the support behind him. It will be a defensive support or runs. He’s just got to go out there and continue to grind swing going to miss. He struck him out with a high fastball, triple digits and down on strikes kyle Schwarber to start the ball game, swung on and this ball is well hit to center field, but playable Thompson is back and under it to make the catch, he’ll put it away for the second out again. Greens 0 to 2 to strike three called, locked him up with triple digits on the outside corner. Great pitch from hunter Green who strikes out two and a 123 1st inning against the Phils Rangers Suarez coming off a complete game 112 pitches. That’s a lot for him, but he threw a lot of sinkers in there mixed in with curveball four seam change and cut. He was 22 years old, the first time he ever stepped on a big league mound. And it was right here in Cincinnati at Great American ballpark Rangers Suarez where he made his debut first pitch to third in and out of the back and child arrived safely. Base hit runner goes, pitches swung on and missed throw to second base is not in time, but I think spencer Steer got in the way of JT Real Muto. So the baserunner is out. So it’s going to be a strikeout throw out, double play. So now two outs here is Tyler Stevenson who hits it on one hop to be at third, the hop him up but he gloves it clean and throws to first in time to get the out. Hunter Green will go to work against brandon March Green struck out two of the three Phillies he faced as part of a 123 1st inning. Now the pitch, this ball is grounded up the middle, nice backhand pick up by Espinal jump twisting throw in time to first to get brandon Marsh. Nice play by Santiago Espinal ranging far to his right. That one smoked into left center field. A base hit for Alec ball and Alec is now hitting six consecutive games opposite way. Little floater that’s going to be a tough play that’s going to drop in a base hit ball is on his way to third it’ll be 1st and 3rd with one man down one for eight against the White Sox and he’s one for his last 14 fly ball. Right field. Bohm Tags at third. Fairchild is under it. Fairchild gets behind it. Fairchild’s throw to the plate on one hop is not in time. Heck of a slide by ball to the back of home plate and the Phillies take a 10 lead. This pitch to Clemens is ripped to right. Fairchild is back. He will reach up at the track and make the catch to end the inning but the Phillies get one and it’s in plenty of time one away that will bring up the Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion Strand popped up in front of home plate and now behind it as JT takes care of it , Suarez kicks and deals in the pitch swung on and missed. He struck him out, pulled the string on him and De La Cruz down on strike. Second strike out for Ranger underway here in the third. It’s one nothing Phillies. Rojas Swar and Turner coming up fly ball right center field. That’s going to split the gap and get past Bubba Thompson and Rojas is on his way to third and he’s going to get there. He was flying around the base path, that’s his first triple of the year and the Phillies with a good scoring opportunity here in the third inning, stepping to the dish. Now Kyle Schwarber fly ball right, center field should be deep enough to score. Rojas Thompson’s under it. It will be Rojas will take off and he’ll score easily. The Phillies have two runs on two sacrifice flies and contact is so important over to shortstop. Big hop for Trey Turner when he slings it over to Cody Clements for the first out ground ball to second to his left is Bryson ST four ground ball outs so far swing and a miss, he throws the curveball after the change up, the strikeout is recorded. Candelario who grounded out to shortstop his last time up off the hands caught out of the air by Rangers Suarez. Look at the smirk on his face after flipping a little leather , no runs, no hits one man left and Schwarber draws the first walk of the night for the Phils brings up JT pitch, ground ball fair pass third. It’s going down the line and it’s going all the way to the corner. Kyle Schwarber showing off that sprint speed. He’s coming around third. He’ll be waved home and he will score standing up on the double by JT. The Phillies lead four nothing and Rangers Suarez is allowed two baserunners. There’s a bunt up the third base side bareheaded by Bones to first in time. He is just getting better and better with each passing game. And on those plays in particular , de La Cruz goes pitch down and away Bob will got the transfer 11 steals for lie de La Cruz off the hands popped up. JT finds it thanks to the little direction from Ranger and the inning is over. No runs, one hit, one man left over at third with one away that will bring up Bryson Stutt swing and a foul tip Stevenson holds on to strike three. Stotts retired. Here’s the payoff and that is strike three called fastball at the knees from hunter Green. It’s his 1st 123 inning since the first. That is his sixth strike out of the ball game. He’s thrown 94 pitches so far today, which really isn’t that bad. He’s a guy that tends to throw a lot of pitches. It’s a high fly ball hit fairly well in the right center field. There goes Bubba Thompson to the track near the wall and makes the catch hit well, but not well enough. Not on tonight anyway, another 123 inning for Hunter Green, that’s seven in a row for the red starter. This guy just goes out there makes his pitches, doesn’t care about anything else that’s going on around them, fly ball, shallow center field, Rojas is under it and he makes the catch fly ball softly out to left center. Here comes Marsh he makes the catch coming in and there are two outs swing and a miss, he got him five strikeouts. JT flips it to first in time and the inning is over 1237 shutout innings for Ranger Su-rez Clemons has doubled. He’s one for three fly to right and a strikeout looking and a high fly ball to deep right field. It is gone three run home run for cody Clemens. Wow, what a debut for that young man. He’s just carried that spring training right here to right here to Cincinnati and Great American ballpark. Seven nothing Phillies on top line drive base hit to left field and Turner extends his hitting streak to 11 games. He does so, and what’s probably his final at bat of the night Hoffman 10th ball game? An, er, a of two Hs ready to go one ball and two strikes. The pitch checks. Did he go? Yes, he did. Dan Bolino didn’t need any help. He just twirled his finger in the air and the Phillies have shut out the Reds seven nothing. It’s a combined two hit shutout for Ranger Su-rez Gregory Soto and Jeff Hoffman.
