from female players doing the absolute unthinkable to explosive golf drama in the ladies locker room these are the 20 most controversial moments where women shocked the golf world and first we start at number 20 we’re at the 2025 US Women’s Open at Aaron Hills and Charlie Hull is about to pull something that absolutely nobody saw coming so here’s the deal it’s day one of the tournament right everything’s being filmed everyone’s watching and it should just be normal professional golf but Charlie oh she’s known for playing fast like really fast and major championships these are the complete opposite slow as molasses charlie just wrapped up the eighth hole her playing partner Lexi Thompson is still on the green finishing up her stuff normal golf etiquette says you wait you watch you show respect but Charlie she just walks away not kidding she walks straight to the next tea and plops down just sits there like she’s waiting for a bus while Thompson is still putting behind her the golf world lost its mind social media went absolutely crazy people were calling her rude and unprofessional others told her to grow up and do you know what’s the worst part of it she was actually playing decent golf even Parr sitting just four shots back tied for 34th place but nobody was talking about her golf anymore instead you’ve got one of the biggest tournaments in women’s golf cameras everywhere and there’s Charlie just chilling on the tea while her playing partner is trying to finish the previous hole was she tired of waiting we don’t know but this definitely isn’t a rookie mistake this is a seasoned pro who should know better way better so what was she thinking at number 19 we’re at the 2025 Black Desert Championship and Pine Delicor is having the kind of week that dreams are made of a stunning 60 in the second round that had everyone losing their minds she’s right there in contention sitting pretty at seven shots back going into Saturday but then the 18th hole happens now Delicor is out there playing her third round and something goes wrong something she doesn’t even realize at first she’s working on her shot trying to get the ball in a better position and boom she crosses a line she didn’t mean to cross and here’s where it gets wild though the round ends she walks off the course could have just headed to the clubhouse signed her card and nobody would have been the wiser but that’s not what happens instead Delicor does something that’ll blow your mind she marches straight to the officials and basically says “Hey I think I messed up back there on 18.” Can you believe that she turns herself in the officials look into it and sure enough rule 8.1 violation she improved her lie which is a big no in professional golf two-stroke penalty just like that her par becomes a double bogey and her decent round of one over turns into a brutal three over 75 this completely tanks her position remember she was in striking distance after that incredible 60 well now she’s tied for 58th going into Sunday her chances of winning her first LPGA Tour title gone just like that and talking about the right thing we’re at number 18 with Carlo Saig and there’s something about her that’s been driving the golf world absolutely insane it’s not her swing no it’s something way more controversial 2023 Evian Championship one of golf’s biggest majors saganda is out there playing her second round when something happens that nobody saw coming she gets hit with a slow play penalty the kind of thing that’s clearly in the rule book and usually handled without drama but Saganda she’s not having it she marches into the officials tent and basically tells them “I’m not accepting this.” The officials look at her like she’s lost her mind they explain the rules they stand their ground but Saganda digs in her heels then comes the moment they hand her the scorecard with the penalty on it and she just refuses to sign it the officials are like “Look if you walk out of here without signing the correct card you’re done disqualified.” And you know what she does she walks out anyway gone from a major championship because she wouldn’t accept a slow play penalty but wait don’t leave yet because this is just where this story gets started we’re talking about a pattern that gets so bad fans start calling for her to be banned from the sport entirely fast forward to 2024 and here’s a viral video that has the entire golf world losing their minds someone films her during a tournament and when you see what she does you’ll understand why people are absolutely furious she’s on the 15th hole final round and she’s got an approach shot to hit simple enough right well someone starts timing her from the moment it’s her turn to play the clock starts ticking 40 seconds go by the recommended time limit but she’s still standing over the ball 1 minute still not ready she keeps going through practice swings adjusting hesitating finally at 1 minute and 24 seconds she pulls the trigger that’s more than double the time she’s supposed to take she won that tournament by one stroke if officials had penalized her for slow play like they’re supposed to she wouldn’t have won at all pretty unfair right if Charlie Hull had been on the green that day she probably would have walked off again and honestly who could blame her in the meantime let’s see what’s going on at number 17 may 2025 US Women’s Open at Aaron Hills the USGA is putting on what should be the crown jewel of women’s golf the best players in the world are there the cameras are rolling and everyone’s expecting to see incredible golf but something’s not right from the very first day the players start hitting their approach shots and weird stuff starts happening good shots shots that should stick on the green are bouncing like they hit concrete and rolling 20 yards away chips that should stop near the pin are flying across the green and into bunkers on the other side what’s going on well the USGAA decided to crank up the green speeds to almost 14 on the stimp meter to put that in perspective that’s the fastest greens ever used in women’s professional golf ever players are standing over putts looking completely lost maya Stark ends up spending 20 minutes on the final hole trying to figure out how to get her ball to stop somewhere near the cup and it turns into a triple bogey even Nelly Corda one of the best players in the world hits what looks like a perfect approach shot that bounces through the green and rolls 15 yards past the flag and Saturday’s round 6 hours six freaking hours you know how long a normal round of golf takes about 4 hours max these women were out there for 6 hours because nobody could figure out how to play these greens every putt became a 5-minute strategy session every chip shot was a potential disaster the USGAA had basically turned golf’s biggest women’s championship into a circus where skill didn’t matter anymore it was just about who could survive the chaos they created moving on to number 16 what happens when a star athlete tries their hand at another sport sometimes it’s fun sometimes it’s impressive and sometimes it’s a total disaster june 2025 the Anakah ProAm caitlyn Clark college basketball legend turned WNBA star is out on the golf course for a fun round with other celebrities and pros it’s all smiles casual vibes what could possibly go wrong well a lot apparently clark steps up to the tea probably thinking “How hard can this be?” She takes a couple practice swings lines up and then boom she lets it rip and that’s when things go sideways literally the ball doesn’t go down the fairway it rockets off in the wrong direction and smacks a spectator right in the crowd you can see the horror on her face the moment it happens she turns around apologizes immediately and gives that awkward oops I’m so sorry look while everyone else is caught between laughing and ducking for cover that poor fan just wanted to enjoy a day of golf and instead got front row seats to Caitlyn Clark’s accidental driveby let’s just say her golf game might need a little more practice now we’re at number 15 may 2025 NIA Women’s Golf National Championship in Ipsellante Michigan we’re at Eagle Crest Golf Club for what should be the biggest moment of these college golfers careers this is their chance to shine on the national stage but someone’s about to make a decision so mindnumbingly stupid that it’ll turn this prestigious championship into a complete joke the par 5 fifth hole has this massive green that’s described on the course’s own website as having many challenging hole locations fair enough but the tournament officials look at this green they see all the possible pin positions and they make a choice that nobody saw coming these college women start walking up to the green feeling confident they’ve hit decent approach shots they’re looking at what should be makeable putts for birdie or par everything looks normal then the putting starts one player lines up a 20ft putt that looks completely reasonable she strikes it perfectly good pace good line heading right for the cup the ball gets to the hole lips out and then starts rolling all the way back to her feet she literally puted it right back to where she started but that’s just the beginning this same nightmare starts happening to player after player 90 players out of 156 make double bogey or worse on this single hole the NIA had to issue a formal public apology for completely destroying their own national championship all because of where they decided to put one little pin and that brings us to number 14 because there’s nothing worse than when your biggest opportunity gets ruined by someone else’s mistake and we’re about to see exactly how devastating that can be july 2023 US Women’s Open at Pebble Beach we’ve got Nataka Vongab a 20-year-old rookie from Thailand making her debut at one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments she’s been having an incredible year runnerup finish in Thailand another top six finish right after that this is her moment her first US Women’s Open at legendary Pebble Beach no less she starts her round on the back nine and things are going perfectly she makes a birdie makes a bogey sitting even par through five holes for a rookie in her first major at this level that’s exactly where you want to be but then something happens that has absolutely nothing to do with her golf swing her caddy Jinsup Kim is doing what caddies do helping with distances reading the course supporting his player seems normal enough right but he makes a decision that’s about to end their week before it even gets started so he pulls out a rangefinder at most LPGA Tour events totally fine but at the US Women’s Open it is absolutely forbidden first time two-stroke penalty not great but manageable the second time though the officials walked over and delivered news that nobody wants to hear vongilap goes from playing solid golf in her major championship debut to packing her bags and heading home all because her caddy pulled out the wrong piece of equipment at the wrong tournament number 13 takes us to November 2024 the Anakah tournament at Pelican Golf Club in Florida to when one of golf’s biggest stars finally reaches her breaking point so the whole sport pays attention charlie Hull again and she is having a solid week sitting pretty going into the weekend but something’s been building all day long and it’s got nothing to do with her scorecard she’s out there with Nelly Corda two of the fastest players on tour playing as a tusome should be a quick smooth round right perfect conditions no weather delays just pure golf but as the hours tick by something’s going very wrong they start their round at a normal time but as they get deeper into the back nine the sun starts getting lower and lower by the time they reach the 18th hole they’re basically playing in the dark 5 hours and 38 minutes later they finally finish their round for a tusome in perfect weather and why because of the slow play hall walks off that green absolutely steaming mad she doesn’t just complain about slow play she proposes a solution so extreme that it would literally end careers we’re talking about a punishment so harsh that players would lose everything they’ve worked for and some of the biggest names in golf actually agree with her now we’re at the number 12 it is 2013 and this girl is in the middle of the biggest tournament of her career one of golf’s most prestigious majors and something goes so wrong that she has to make a decision no professional golfer ever wants to make it’s the US Women’s Open at Sebanac Golf Club jessica Corda is out there trying to contend in one of the sport’s biggest events she’s 20 years old this is her moment to shine on the world stage but as she makes the turn after nine holes tensions are reaching a boiling point disagreements arguments and a working relationship that’s completely falling apart in real time the conditions are brutal high winds tough pin placements players struggling all over the course only one player in the entire field is under par everyone’s on edge everyone’s frustrated so Corda looks around spots her boyfriend Johnny Delprit in the gallery following her round and says five words that change everything johnny grab the bag let’s go just like that her caddy Jason Gilroy who she’d been working with for about a year is out of a job fired mid round at a major championship in front of thousands of spectators and TV cameras and hate to say it but it actually works ca shoots 40 on the front nine with her regular caddy then comes back and shoots 36 on the back nine with her boyfriend carrying the bag rolling into number 11 what happens when a 15-year-old kid gets offered more money than most professional athletes will see in their entire careers well you’re about to find out we’re in the early 2000s and there’s this teenager from Hawaii who’s been absolutely destroying amateur golf tournaments she’s tall she’s powerful and she’s doing things on the golf course that nobody her age should be able to do but footnote she hasn’t won a single professional tournament yet not one she’s still technically an amateur still in high school still living with her parents then the phone starts ringing nike calls Sony calls the William Morris Agency wants to represent her they’re talking about life-changing money like generational wealth kind of money then in October 2005 just before her 16th birthday Michelle Wi sits down and makes an announcement that sends shock waves through the entire sports world she’s turning professional and she’s signing deals worth more than $10 million a year to put that in perspective she instantly becomes the highest paid female golfer on the planet before playing her first professional tournament before earning a single dollar in prize money the Nike deal alone is reportedly worth 20 million over four years it sounds great if you’re only thinking about money but all that comes with expectations that no 16-year-old should ever have to carry and it nearly broke her the pressure was so intense the scrutiny so overwhelming that it took her years to live up to the hype she struggled to win tournaments dealt with injuries and faced constant criticism about whether she deserved it or not next up at number 10 we’re shifting to a more heartwarming moment because this girl showed the world exactly how to rise to the occasion it’s January 2019 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open and we’re heading to the iconic 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale gary Woodland and Matt Cooer are on the tea two of the top pros in the game but today someone truly special is joining them her name is Amy Bockerstat a 20-year-old golfer with Down syndrome and she’s been invited to play the hole as part of a Special Olympics event so Amy steps up to the tea and you can see she’s not intimidated by the crowds or the cameras or the fact that she’s playing with two PGA Tour pros she hits her T-shot and it goes straight into the greenside bunker and yeah bunker shots are tough especially with thousands of people watching woodland starts walking toward the bunker like he’s going to help her out but Amy looks at him and says just three legendary words i got this she grabs her sand wedge steps into that bunker and splashes it out perfectly onto the green then she’s got a 12-oot putt for par woodland later said he was more nervous watching her putt than he’d ever been for his own shots amy lines it up and once again tells everyone “I got this.” She drains the putt the crowd absolutely erupts and a moment that was supposed to be just a nice gesture becomes something way bigger now here we are at number nine and what we’re about to talk about hadn’t been attempted in over half a century may 2003 anakas Surinstam this Swedish golfer who’s been absolutely dominating women’s golf for years she has won 43 LPGA tournaments broken records left and right and is basically untouchable in her sport but she’s got this crazy idea brewing in her head something that no woman has even tried to do since 1945 the Bank of America Colonial in Texas a regular PGA Tour event where the world’s best male golfers compete and somehow she gets a sponsor exemption to play in it when the news breaks the golf world goes completely insane sports media doesn’t know how to handle it some people are calling it a publicity stunt others are saying she’s going to embarrass herself and all of women’s golf the pressure is absolutely suffocating but Anaka Surinstam shows up at Colonial Country Club anyway first round she steps up to the tea on the 10th hole she makes two bogeies gets one birdie on the par 313th and shoots 71 one overpar on the first day the second round gets tougher five bogeies one birdie and she finishes with a 74 when the dust settles she misses the cut by just a few shots tying for 96th place but the numbers don’t matter that much when you’re showing that a woman could step onto a PGA Tour Course and hold her own against the best male golfers in the world and speaking of earning your place in tournaments here’s number eight and you’re about to see how brutal the golf world can be to someone who doesn’t fit their traditional mold 2015 Dubai Ladies Masters paige Spirinac is a 22-year-old golfer who’s about to make her professional debut she’s been posting some golf content online nothing too crazy just sharing her love for the game but her posts start getting attention for reasons that have nothing to do with her swing and everything to do with how she looks she goes from 500 followers to 100,000 followers almost overnight and that’s when she gets a sponsor’s invite to play in Dubai well let the nightmare begin the golf world takes one look at her and immediately decides she doesn’t belong she’s too different too flashy too everything that traditional golf isn’t used to and they make sure she knows it paige Spirinac shows up at the tournament and she immediately knows something’s wrong other players won’t even stand near her on the practice range when she walks up to hit balls they literally scatter like she’s got some kind of disease then she starts hearing the vicious horrible rumors about how she got her invitation to play the worst one is one that says that she performed sexual favors to get into the tournament she later called it the worst moment of her life the mental pressure was so intense that she shot 77 to 79 and missed the cut badly fortunately she fought back and became one of the biggest names in golf proving that sometimes the best revenge is massive success at number seven we’re once again dealing with someone who just had to make it onto this list today is 2024 and Charlie Hall is having another solid year on tour she’s ranked 11th in the world she’s contending in majors everything’s going well but then people start noticing something unusual about her between shots and what is it hull is smoking cigarettes on the course not hiding it not being secretive about it just casually lighting up between holes like it’s the most normal thing in the world and while it is in some places here in golf people can be pretty judgmental because of that critics are calling it unprofessional inappropriate a terrible example for young athletes here’s someone who’s supposed to be a role model and she’s smoking during competition at the highest level of women’s golf but she doesn’t care what anyone thinks she defends it as part of who she is says it relaxes her and basically tells everyone to mind their own business then comes the 2024 Olympics at Legolf National and organizers ban her from smoking on the course she says that it will affect her performance because it relaxes her and guess what happened she shot 81 in the first round one of the worst scores of her career well she was right I suppose let’s talk about a woman who shocked the golf world again at number six we’re diving into just how rigid and uptight this sport can be it is 2004 and Natalie Gulbas is building her brand getting endorsement deals and doing things that female golfers just don’t do at least not without stirring up controversy she releases a 2005 calendar now you’re probably thinking “So what?” Lots of athletes do calendars but this isn’t your typical golf calendar with pictures of her making perfect swings on beautiful courses this calendar has her in swimsuits the golf world doesn’t know how to handle it here’s a professional athlete who’s supposed to represent the sport and she’s posing in bikinis for a calendar that’s being sold at tournaments traditional golf fans are absolutely losing their minds then comes the 2004 US Women’s Open and Gulbas is scheduled to do an autograph signing for her calendar at the merchandise tent everything’s set up fans are excited and then tournament officials get a look at what she’s actually going to be signing the USGA takes one look at those swimsuit photos and completely panics they cancel the entire event just shut it down their explanation is that the calendar doesn’t fit with golf’s decorum and it’s not appropriate for a major championship meanwhile she’s also posing for FHM magazine around the same time doing photo shoots that make the calendar look tame by comparison gulbas doesn’t back down though she embraces being called a sex symbol and says she enjoys the attention even if people are focused more on her looks than her golf game and what can I say that’s female empowerment and here we are at number five what’s the worst way to fire someone who’s been working their tail off for you this is one of them august 2006 Women’s British Open at Royal Litham in Saint Ans michelle Wi still just 16 years old but already a professional with massive expectations finishes tied for 26th not her best week but not terrible either considering how tough the course was playing her caddy Greg Johnston has been with her since she turned pro but this guy isn’t some random bag carrier he won four major championships with Julie Inkster over 12 years he knows what he’s doing and he’s been helping we have an incredible year seven top five finishes in eight LPGA events almost $720,000 contended in all three major championships this partnership is working or so we thought monday morning after the tournament Johnston is heading to Manchester Airport to fly home he’s probably thinking about the next tournament maybe reflecting on what they need to work on then his phone rings it’s Michelle’s agent and the conversation goes something like this greg you’re fired that’s it no explanation from Michelle herself no facetoface meeting no thank you for the incredible year just a phone call from an agent while he’s standing at the airport gate like this is how you treat someone who’s been busting their butt to help you succeed by having your people call their people uh but anyway we reach number four and it’s worse yes this is something so embarrassing that it makes everything else on this list look like minor inconveniences 2023 LPGA’s Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club this is the season opener featuring 29 of the tour’s recent champions these are the absolute best players in women’s golf the ones who’ve earned their way into this exclusive field but when they arrive at the clubhouse they discover something so shocking so unbelievably insulting that it becomes a social media firestorm within hours there’s no locker room for them none zero the men’s locker room oh that’s being kept open for public restroom use and hospitality guests because apparently random VIPs need access to facilities more than the actual competitors do players are literally changing clothes in parking lots at a championship tournament in 2023 jessica Corda points out that the exact same thing happened in 2022 meaning this wasn’t some one-time mistake it was a pattern matilda Castron says “You can’t imagine something like this playing out on the PGA Tour.” And she’s absolutely right you’d never see the Mast’s champion getting dressed next to a Prius after the backlash explodes they scramble to bring in 36 temporary lockers but by then the damage is done here we are with the last two of the list let’s talk about the moment that turned the LPGA into the center of a heated debate it’s 2017 and the league decides to shake things up not with a new tournament but with a brand new dress code and when I say shake things up I mean stir up a storm here’s the setup the LPGA drops the hammer with a set of rules banning plunging necklines leggings and short skirts these restrictions didn’t sit well with a lot of players especially Michelle Wi who was known for her modern athletic style for Michelle this wasn’t just about clothes it was about progress she and others called the new rules outdated and sexist better suited for a 1950s country club than a global professional sport then came the backlash fans players and commentators all started asking tough questions why focus on what women wear why not celebrate their talent instead and the double standard don’t even get me started nobody was critiquing male golfers attire i mean when’s the last time you heard someone say a male golfer’s outfit was too unprofessional and here’s the reveal the debate didn’t just stop with a few tweets it sparked a full-blown conversation about sexism and body shaming in sports critics slammed the dress code for detracting from players achievements while supporters argued it was about maintaining a professional image so how did it all end over time the LPGA quietly eased up on the restrictions letting the players skills take center stage again finally number one it’s March 2001 and the sun is rising over the Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix Arizona anakah Surinstam walks to the first tea calm and focused ready for the second round of the standard register ping tournament by this point everyone knows she’s good she’s already won majors and built a reputation for her laser-like precision but today today’s about to be different very very different so what happened well the round begins like any other a solid drive a crisp iron a birdie putt that drops in the center of the cup nothing out of the ordinary yet then she birdies the next hole and the next and the next by the time she reaches the ninth she’s carded seven straight birdies and is staring down a putt to make it eight the whispers start and then she drains the putt a front 928 eight under par with eight consecutive birdies unbelievable the back nine begins and now it’s not just about playing good golf it’s about history she doesn’t let up by the time she reaches the 18th hole she’s already done the unthinkable 13 birdies zero bogeies and not a single green missed in regulation whispers have turned into full-on buzz she could shoot 59 the kind of score that seems impossible a number so rare that it’s almost mythical but there’s one problem she needs a par on the last hole to do it 10 minutes later she lines up her putt to make par and breaks 60 anakah stays cool under the pressure and sinks it the crowd erupts anakah smiles raises her fist just slightly and walks off the green as if she does this every day but she doesn’t nobody does she’s just become the first woman in LPGA history to shoot 59 in competition a feat so extraordinary it’s still referred to as the perfect round oh and now that you’re still watching we have made another great video for you here right in the middle of the screen enjoy

  1. I'm with Charlie Hull. The play was stupid slow and, as a fast player, I'd rather move on. I'm sure Lexi was too focused to notice.

  2. Paige is noy good enough to make the tour, and she opted to go for "sex sells" content. That's okay but how can other pkayers take her seriously?

  3. Video was terrible for some situations you should share more info like what actually happens to the 16 yo career not just say messed up shit and move on to the next topic

  4. Women going crazy and complaining about being told how to dress and then compare it to men. Men have to wear pants. PANTS. No shorts. Plus, they have to wear collared shirts with sleeves. Stop freaking crying unequal treatment when you have fewer restrictions on dress. Let the men play in shorts and a tank or sleeveless shirt. Every tournament you see a guy adjusting their sleeves on their shirt. It's restricting. Then go to majority of the golf courses and you'll see men in shorts. It's cooler and more comfortable. Now don't even get me state on green spots for woman.

  5. 19 is good sportsmanship after a mind lapse.

The Caitlyn Clark one… a pro-am. Tickets advise spectators about risk… you’re talking like she murdered someone. 😂

Paige … how terrible to be beautiful. Such a struggle

  6. That happens in club golf. P Harrington always advise golfers to show respect and kindness to other golfers playing with you and around the golf course.

  7. I'm a fast player to, their should be a shot clock once you get on the green like in other sports have time limits (baseball), come on man get over it, l like golf but there is some stupid stuff, we should be able to boo players also.
