It’s set to be a summertime sprint for the game’s best on the PGA TOUR as the John Deere Classic returns for another year. Rickie Fowler is back at TPC Deere Run for the first time in 15 years. This year, Fowler is looking to earn some valuable FedExCup Points as he sits No. 72 in the standings. He missed the cut at the Rocket Classic last week but has three top-20 finishes in his last six weeks. Two-time winner this season Ben Griffin is set to tee it up. Griffin, who also finished runner-up at the Memorial Tournament, is playing some of the best golf of his career. Joining these two are Jason Day, Michael Kim and Lucas Glover among others looking to secure a win 5 weeks away from the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

It’ll be something certainly probably a long iron and trying to get this again around the 265 270 mark. And this is uh right right up the right side. [Applause] But he is going to try to land this four or five short of it just below the ridge and see if he can get it to release back there. That’s not a great line.
Yeah, sure. Look, good read. It’s a little tough to a back left leftish whole location. But again, should be just a a really good five iron for Max. Gosh, it has some great flow to it, doesn’t it? But when it it’s set, we don’t know what’s going on in his mind, but when it’s set and the way it rotates through, he has been getting the club stuck behind him, but got Max Helma up the hill going from his left to right. Good read there. We had a good look at it. The beautiful couple of birdies in a row and that’s a bonus making one at the 12. Talk about some letdowns for Max, but this is his range, guys. From 15 to 20 feet on tour this season, he’s 19th. Set up on the right side, the T- box setting up first cut off the left bunker.
Really good swing, Max.
Yeah, I think when Max was at his best, that’s predictably what he did. That cops up the CS up the C4. Dedicated professional.
That’s right. Well, perfect position. Ball a little above his feet, front right hole location. And that was very well judged from Max.
Chance for three in a row as well. Yeah, Max Homer having a really horrendous season. This is the kind of golf course you can turn it around on though. Three under now for the day. Max on the tea. Da with them. Well, he’s gone with the driver and uh quick T pickup. Looks like a good line. Well, so much for my prediction there, Da.
Yes, he’s a little bit far enough left. And he got a great read from Jake Knap, but you still got to borrow quite a bit from the right. And this looks like a really good effort from Max. Needs to settle. Needs to settle. Yeah, definitely huge advantage there for Maxoma to go second on that one. This is definitely moving left to right. He’s been rolling in really nice early going and he continues it here. Great start.
Time for a second now.
But again for Max, he can set up right at the center of that bunker and just hit a standard peel cut. watching it anxiously. Plenty of good things for this man. Home is second. Yeah. From position A back right whole location. Working it in there. Beauty. You get this comfort feeling in your mind when you Well, he’s been ironing it great today. Don Hill walks it in. See if he can’t get something going here. Little peeler. It’s a little longer on that right hand side. Oh, we just made it.
Oh, wow.
Wow. Go buy a lottery ticket.
Carl, you when you say just made it, I mean that
I think Ryan Burr, Matty, Carl Pollson. This is Matt. Uh this is Max Home and just this is right here where you’re like there’s no way it’s going to get through there and it sneaks into the fairway.
Yeah, right there is where you’re thinking when’s the last time it’s rained in the Quad Cities. I mean that ball flag.
Yeah, I think you can look at just the left edge of that right bunker. Should spot again that was Lance spent on the bag for the first time and I think that the the message was really clear. So they got on the page quickly and he he even thought the five line was going to be too long there. So the execution I think going to try to go left to right the first half then once it gets about 10 ft short it’s going to get the top of the hill go back down this hill needs a little more. We saw Chris go putt from this. This putt moves a lot around that hole. So, it’s like the hole is sitting on a little edge there.
He’s had really good touch with the putter today. Let’s see if he can match the line and the speed here. Yeah, this would be six birdies and 11 holes. Very nice.
Walking it in. Max playing with a lot of confidence for
he can just hit his patented shot. Little left to right cut. Eight iron. They like it.
Great line. What are we doing? Look at these two guys.
We got Max homeless straight in for yet another birdie today for Max. Here’s the textbook. We watch Max there. Everything in line on the plane.
Many drivers. We watch Home. Would it be more of a fourwood, do you think? I mean, that definitely had five fivewood ball speed, but it’s, you know, Jake Nat can take it off of it.
Yeah, I think as far as he’s hitting it, he’s not trying to hit three-wood into into any of these par five. So, yeah, it would be one, two,
threewood’s the one,
that little hole.
It picks up the golf ball
for the little pony.
It It picks up the golf ball. Ball on the way for Homer. Come on, keep coming. It really does. It’s the beauty of the putter. All it’s missing is a suction cup on the end of the grip. made a beautiful par save there at four, but then missed a very makeable opportunity at the last. This one downhill, little left to right. Snuck it in the wide edge there.
Yep. Again, very appealing T-OT to Max’s eye. Just set it up down here. Hit his little burner off these bunkers, Max.
And uh likes it.
Wider to the right out there. Yeah, good ball. Put that on a loop, Max. Whole swing looks very much in order.
And going to have superior touch here. And he had it. Da. Beautifully done. Skipped it up there. Controlled the distance and the spin. Oh, we listen to you. Good read. again. That’s
Soma
in that green side bunker at the ninth hole. Tough long bunker shot. Oh, he’s got a big ridge to contend with it. Ball’s ball’s going to hit that ridge and kick to the right. He’s going to have about 12 feet uphill for He’s been putting beautifully today. Give it a good effort. That will be his only bogey of the day with an 8 under par 63. It was uh good playing out there. I know the bogey on the last will will sting just a little bit, but you’ve got to be pretty happy with the overall game today.
Yeah, I played really nice. I don’t think I did anything um exceptionally well. Uh I drove it better than I have most of the season, so it was nice to get to get in a rhythm with my irons and made a lot of putts. So, it just felt uh felt pretty easy overall. I was going to say the putter looked pretty exceptional to me today, but let’s talk about that driver because you’ve been on record saying that it needs to get better. How do what kind of grade do you give yourself today with it?
Oh, yeah. That was a massive I have a big thank you to uh my coach John. Uh he found something late yesterday. Um it was quite hard to do, but it limited a lot of the thoughts and um yeah, I didn’t hit any crazy ones. Uh hit a lot of fairways and then even the little things just the threewoods off the tea. uh sometimes we take for granted and they haven’t been very good this year. Um three would set ones like layup holes and those were great. So um you know I know it can get a little bit more comfortable but I was uh really really stoked with uh you know where the ball was going today off the tea.
Well, great playing and go get uh go get in the AC and uh good luck the rest of the way. Thank you. Thanks for watching the PJ tour on YouTube. For more videos, click here. To subscribe, click

  1. Max has it all…long and accurate off the tee…accurate approach shots, outstanding putting! Course management skill shows as he knows when NOT to use a Driver. Even the bogey at the last hole required 2 consecutive "bad shots" that I would have been happy to copycat (sand shot and missed putt)! I think he just forgot to aim left of the hole on that tricky sand shot or he would have been close and tied with 62 rather than 63, the putt was not an easy one either!
