Mimi Rose 337. When you’re hot, you’re hot. Beim Rose on me. Turn. Oh, yes. Maline Sax. What an eagle. And Ireland has a winner on the ladies European tour and it had to be Leona Maguire. The setting, the crowds, the field, the layout. No wonder the KPMG Women’s Irish Open has established itself as one of the most popular events on the Ladies European tour. For the second year in a row, we’re back at the Omira course at Carton House Fairmont in County Kildair, just west of the capital city of Dublin. Designed by the former Masters and Open Champion Marco Mirror along with Tim Lob. It’s a Parkland layout playing today at just under 6,400 yd par 73. The weather, well, it started warm, sunny, clouded over, had a bit of rain. Some’s come back out again. And I think it’s going to be sun and showers along the way. I’m Richard Kaufman. Alongside me is former Ladies European Tour player Sophie Walker. Sophie, how good is the vibe at this event?
It makes me want to get my clubs out, Richard. This was voted the best tournament of the year on the Ladies European tour for 2024. The crowd come out in force to support their own and all of the players here. And it’s a cracking golf course. It’s got a an amen corner just like Augusta National. It plays as good as it looks. I mean this all these pictures just say welcome to Ireland. Yeah, it’s lovely to be here and plenty of golf already out on the course today. Before we get to that, let’s just check out the Rolex World Rankings. No change at the top at all. Actually in the top 10 cord is still at number one. Although the gap at the top has narrowed over Gino Titan, the year’s major winners, Maya Siggo, Maya Stark, Mjidi, all inside the top 10. And Charlie Hull, the best ranked player in the field this week. She’s 19th in the world and living up to the billing so far. She’s out this afternoon. More on her in a moment. But as I said, we’ve been underway since 8:00 this morning. The Morning Wave have finished their day and that includes Ireland’s finest Lea Maguire.
The 30-year-old went out in level par. She birded her first hole, got up and down here for a par of eight. So that gets her at one under. Yeah, she was saying after a round she had chances on almost every hole on this back nine for her. And here was a good example of an opportunity missed. So just the one under today, 72, but not too far back. Searching for a bit of form. It looks like it’s come away the last few weeks. She was playing with Ana Donigan, Irish amateur star.
Three under through four holes. She was two bogus. This was a birdie put on the fourth. She’d finish at minus 271. Anna Foster, the Irish woman, top five last week in Germany. actually got into a share of the lead with that part of the fourth, but she followed it with three straight bogeies. Two under. She had to settle with
Hannah screenshot 83 on Sunday, but she’s put that to the back of her mind with a bogey free 67. That was her birdie pot on nine. She would tap it in minus five. Great comeback. Yeah, 68 also for Lisa Pison with a closing par at the ninth there. Lost in a playoff at Dramodan Castle a couple of years ago. So, she loves playing in Ireland. Maline Sack’s first time she won the match play on the LPGA. She was six under through 10 holes. This was her second into the fourth, a par five with metal in her hand and she’ll be tapping that one in. And here it is to go to eight under par. And looked like she was going to shoot something stupidly low, but she followed it with a triple bogey at the next. Had to settle for five under.
Three times winner on the ladies European tour this season. Mimi Rose, she was out in one underpar. Birded the third. This was her approach shot from the bunker on the fourth. That par five. Yeah. Played the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. been back in Bath since then tidying up her game and it looks in good order. 5 under 68 from her as well. Not a drop shot. This was her birdie at the eighth. All departments in the game looking good for this year’s number one on the order of merit. But last year’s number one putting together a tidy round herself. Birdie put on her final hole for Kiara Tambolini. She went out in five under. Shoots six. Yeah. 730 birdie and a 67 there. And this was just a moment or two ago amongst the afternoon starters. Lotty W the world number one amateur bird two of the par fives. Finished the front nine with that three there. So she’s three under which is only three shots off the lead. So, a lot for you to take in there, I know, but we’ll look at the leaderboard here and just confirmation, it is Kiara Tambellini at the top. She closed with a 66 last year to finish top five. Took her to the top of the rankings. We know she didn’t relinquish that lead. It’s a 67 from her. There’s Sax Pison Screen and Mimi Roads at 500 park. Brilliant performance from the 20year-old Irish amateur Emma Fleming. for the third time teeing it up at the KPMG women’s PJ one of nine Irish amateurs in the field 69 from her four under par you’ll see the name of Charlie Hull there she birded four of the first five holes and Brianna Navarosa has just had a hole in one at the par 3 second so she is also on that mark at four under par you see next to lotty word there Micah Hoger six mis cuts in a row she’s come out of the traps flying four under are already. And there’s some of the other names we’ve seen. Former champion Smeila Sonibu, one of those in with a 71. Nice to see the Suns back out. This is Georgia Hall. She had a couple of birdies early on, then made double and has got it back to underpar playing alongside her best friend Charlie Hall. You saw the mini celebration there by Charlie. Georgia was beginning to think that we were keeping them apart. She said we never play golf together on tournaments just practice rounds and back home at Wentworth. One under there for Georgia Hall. This is Brianna Navarosa who I mentioned just a moment ago had the hole in one of the second. So this is at the third. It’s pretty breezy out there. Player who is a rookie on tour from America. You can see gone off the traps nicely. Birdie at 10. And that really has pushed her up the leaderboard. 18th on the rankings. Big week for her because she’s one of those trying to push for a place at the AIG Women’s Open. Flags are being battered a little bit, Sophie. It’s pretty breezy out there. First pokey of the day for Charlie Hall. That gets her back to three under par. It is. It comes through like gusting and it can bring some rain. As these players were warming up, there was a lot of rain coming through. You can see it there. It’s whipping across the 18th hole. It’s kind of into from the left, which is a southwesterly wind. So, it’s not a cold wind. Playing alongside Brianna Navarosa is the player from I suppose the US if you like but the US Virgin Islands a long way from where Navarosa is from in California. She’s also making a a good fist of things early on. Three birdies no drop shots. So there are scores to be had. It is a golf course where if you get on a run you can make a lot of birdies.
It’s playing a lot softer than when we were here last year. We came later and now the fairways are softer. The ball might not be traveling as far, but into the greens it’s considerably softer. So, you can access a few hole locations.
Great to see an Irish name there in the top 10. Emma Fleming certainly be in the spotlight, I would think, with the Irish media here after her opening round 69. Look, it’s something you don’t see very often. We had five or six reporters waiting to interview players. This is the final hole of the front line. Playing 334 yds now to carry those bunkers on the left hand side. That’s no issue whatsoever. It’s 200 yds to do that. And then you’re playing up to a green which sits from back to front. Flag 28 on seven from the right. Well, birdie for Georgia Hall taking her under part. A left to right wind here on nine. Driver for Georgia. Finished tie 15th here last year. So, not the first time she’s been to Carton House. As you say, best of buddies Charlie and Georgia and hopefully not playing Goobury, but also in this three ball is one of the Irish pros in the field. Seven Irish pros this year, Sarah Burn. One of the stars of the Curtis Cup team that beat the Americans at Sunningale last year.
No birdies yet today. Just a one drop shot. We hit drive, didn’t we?
Yeah. Wind into see this is a big day. It’s kind of the draw she wanted. Sarah, she idolizes Charlie Hull. 271.
So she might be fangirling a little bit on her way around some kind of wedge. Got to leave you 75.
Try and hit this.
It’s down whim left to right. 8:00. Where’s
my light? Straight over the right half of this bunk. The voice of Adam Woodward. Long-term caddy of Charlie Hall. She’s opting for the 3-wood. Taking over the line of that left bunker down the left side. It’s 195 to carry. No issue at all for Charlie. 3-wood. Can’t hit this club. That’s way right from Charlie. Don’t think that club will be coming out the bag much. You heard us say I can’t hit this one. Adam and somebody that draws the ball quite naturally. That ninth hole should set up well for Navarosa to stay at four under. Well, from the heady heights of the ace at the previous hole, the third hole, she drops one. The number one in the amateur game. Lossy W. Doing it in style on the professional ranks as well.
She’s not here to make up the numbers, is she?
No. I spoke to her coach, Luke Bone, and she said if it wasn’t for the odd shot here or there, a bad bounce at the US Open, she would have to top 10. He said, “Don’t get me wrong, top 30 is very good, but this is where they’re looking.” Yeah, she just looks so comfortable whichever stage she plays on Liy Woke. So, she gets to four under par, which at the moment leaves her in a share of sixth place. Day 67 here. early days, but obviously you’re currently in the lead, so what’s your reaction?
Um, yeah, I’m very happy with how I played today. I had an incredible group and it’s, um, playing with Lauren and Madlin. And I think on the front line, Meline and I had a bit of a birdie feast as well. So, we kept just going, which was really cool. It was really motivating to, you know, um, just be birdies all around really. But, um, played really, really solid on the front nine. Um, still decent on the back nine, but just didn’t really make much more. Um, no, happy with the game. And the wind did pick up on a few of those holes out there, didn’t it?
Yeah, it really picked up on the last what, five or six holes. Um, so yeah, it’s probably going to be difficult this afternoon, but I think the forecast is to be the same tomorrow, so I think it’ll be pretty much the same for everybody by the time the weekend comes.
It’s a it’s a really hectic time of year. You were playing pretty well on the LE up to Tenneref, then obviously you went over to the States. You were playing very well on the L up to then. So you must have felt your game is in pretty good pretty good shape coming here.
Yeah, for sure. I feel like I’ve had a couple good finishes on L. I’ve had a really good finish at US Open which was very encouraging. Um so I think you know I’m very excited about the next couple events as well. Some some of the majors now coming up in Europe and I think this is a really good test as well. You know there’s a lot of LPJ girls here this week. Um so it’s really cool to kind of measure my game against some of them already um in yeah looking forward to next week as well.
And of course the SHA Cup captain’s here this week as well. So always a good week to play well.
That’s right. Yeah, I saw on the range this morning, but you know, obviously that is one of one of my goals um for next year, but still a lot of golf until then. So, I’m just trying to to get better every day and we’ll see what happens.
Well done. Good stuff.
Thank you very much. Yeah, really nicely done. This is thick grass where Charlie Hull finds herself. Did well to find it and dig it out.
It’s a good job she’s taking a crowd with her cuz anyone else might have struggled to find that. Freewood is not her friend. Kiara Tambellini just heard from there chatting with Ed Morse. She she’s a class act, isn’t she? And she’s, you know, she showed us last year what she can do on the L. She’s now shown herself what she can do playing a major in America. It feels like she’s taking the next step.
It does. And and what she needs to know is Anna Anna’s really good friend is Meline Sagstrom. And uh Meline is very talkative and will get on very well with Kiara Tambolini. So I am sure they’ll be having dinner tonight and she will be telling Anna all about her. 103 yds left here into the ninth. Crosswind from left to right. Here’s a stunner from Sarah Burn. Opportunity for the player from Cork to start her birdie account. Yeah, we’ve kind of joined Charlie Hall in opportune moment, haven’t we? Seen him miss a short putt,
then a T-shot right now having to play a third into this par four. That flag 28 on the green length is 37. We’ll see how much See how much the ball stops at the flag cuz it’s sat from back to front this green. Well, came flying out of the blocks. Charlie Hall. It just feels like the handbrake has just come on hopefully only momentarily. But Georgia Hall in prime position here to strike again with a well-known bagman to her right.
Oh, I think he’s slightly better than that. Paul Dunn nearly won the open championship at St. Andrews. Boyfriend before Caddy, I would say wedge for Georgia around that 100 yardd number. Ball slightly below her feet. So it’ll want to move from left to right. Some wind there as well. Good shot. Held that into a left to right win. Well, yeah, he’s got to carry the the GB golf bag as Paul and he also had the umbrella up. So, team GB and I said, “Oh, did you lose a bet or something in Ireland?” He says, “Don’t worry, it’ll stop raining soon.” One of the rookies, the growing amount of rookies on tour is Cannie Screen. This is at 18. this to go out into Oh, what a shame. Just have to say how well she’s been going in this opening round. Emma Fleming, the top Irish player, as things stand. Now, we got a little story about Blanca Fernandez. We’ll come back to that in a moment. Spanish player, big talent, isn’t she, Sophie?
She is. Pair of sisters from Spain. She’s actually minus three at the minute. So inside the top 20 going really well. She’s got about as long. Oh, I mean wasn’t best of luck coming up with Charlie Hull’s punt. Have you just seen Kenise there three putt for a double bogey? Player who made her ladies European tour debut only a couple of months ago in the Netherlands. So this for par to avoid drop shots at the end of the front nine for Charlie Hull. Well, she can blame the T-shot lost it down the right with the 3-wood.
But when she started with four birdies in the first five holes, you wondered how low she might go. But this of course has bitten back late on the front nine got our Irish green on today as Charlie popular wherever she goes around the world. Charlie Hull. So she ends the front nine with backto- back bogeies. Charlie Hull disappointed, but Georgia Hall has this to end the front line with backto- back birdies. Should peel its way from left to right. The green kind of slopes. The high side is right where she stood now. So, this will also be downhill for Georgia. Left edge. That’s where she hit. It actually broke a touch more outside the top 100 in the world at the moment. Georgia. Yeah, the first time since 2017 that that has happened. Fed out of the top 100 a few weeks ago. not in the major next week at Evian. Didn’t get into the US Women’s Open. It just feels strange. I was looking for Georgia Hall’s name on the entry list at the Evian Championship and she wasn’t there. Thought it must have been a mistake, but she hasn’t qualified. Naturally will be at Royal Fourth Call as a former champion at the AIG Women’s Open. Now, she’s left the crowd waiting for her first birdie of the day. Hopefully it’s coming here for Sarah Burton. Well, a pro now. She was one of the players who couldn’t play in this event last year because there was a small matter of the Curtis Cup at Sunningale going on the same week. Solid enough. One under part. Remember six under is leading thanks to Kiara Tambellini. Now we were chatting to Theresa Macan the ladies European tour commercial director early on. She played in the proam yesterday with Blanca Fernandez and gave us some tips about her putting that if she missed one she had to have a certain song in her mind. Wasn’t it
a Taylor Swift song? She said shake it off. Just move on to the next hole. Maybe that positivity there from Trees. She said, “Oh man, she was put in so well. It just didn’t go in.” And having that in your mind. And hey, Lilia Vu won the women’s open singing Taylor Swift the whole way round at Walton Heath. This could be the key, you know. Well, Blanca Fernandez is actually that was a birdie p that we just saw her pop in. So that was the fifth birdie of the day. Not much to shake off, is there? She moves into a share of sixth place at four and a two behind Kiara Tambberellini, the early leader. Day one of this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Good scoring, mixed weather. Saw Patrice Makova up there last week. Just had a poor last day as did one or two others. You can see this from many parts of the golf course. This is the Tier Connell Tower named after the Earl of Tier Connell. It was built in the 17th century. Can be viewed from 11 holes. Start of the back nine downhill par four. Oh, plays a good 15 yds downhill this one. And it’s downwind. Let fly. Don’t leak it right though. There is a bunker in that landing zone there. Now, it is a gorgeous setting, isn’t it? It’s got four bunkers down the left hand side. They carry over all of them to the fairway. It’s 256 yds, but it’s downhill and downwind. That’s the line Hall will be taking. Got to say, you’ve been practicing, haven’t you? Your holes and holes. I’m very impressed. So far, I know it’s, you know, you you might slip now and again, but so far so good, Sophie. Well done.
Down patronizingly. Let’s grab the left edge of the fairway. So, who have we got next on the tea here?
Charlie Hull. Is that right? That’s good enough.
Yeah, I mean I think she’s that well known and we can call her Charlie. She’ll be hitting driver same line as Georgia.
Smashing it over those bunkers with a draw. So we are scampers down there. Over 300 yard drive there by Charlie. Yeah, it’s fairly pleasant afternoon. This is actually the 19th edition of the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, but the fourth since the the event came back. We had more than a decade away. Well, this will play the easiest hole on the golf course today. Downwind five. That was Swain there chipping up. So looking to escape with a par when so many people are making birdies. You can see how downwind it is.
And playing with Navarosa just as you know 18th on the order of merit. The player who’s in the final position, and this is the last counting event, who’s in the final position on the rankings right now is Luna Sabbron Galves, who’s 14th on the ranking. So, she’s not far away. Navarosa playing with Alexandra Swain. So birdie for Swain four under well there was some June on the ladies European tour. Had some great moments and some great champions along the way. Plenty of memories too. And now you got your chance to vote for June’s player of the month on the LE. In May, Alexander was forced to stop playing in the form of her life. Momentum stopped by an anterior crucet ligament injury. Somehow she returned at the beginning of June. A second round 64 at the Czech Ladies Open was followed by an incredible 62 concluded in the most dramatic manner with that chipin eagle at the last. As far as breakthrough wins go, they don’t come much better than the South Africans at Raw Boon. Singapore’s top golfer ended her tune on a high, claiming a brilliant victory at the Amundi German Masters. She conquered the formidable green monster in Hamburg, securing her second ladies European tour title. A composed performance under pressure and a fitting way to close out a strong dune. The rookie from Cardiff celebrated her 22nd birthday on the day of the third round and got the ultimate present the following day. In just her eighth ladies European tour start, she walked away with a trophy. But it wasn’t just the win that meant so much, but the fact that with it came a place at the AIG Women’s Open at her home course of Raw Port Call. Zara Kuska made it backto-back victories in style with her latest triumph at the stunning Abama Golf Resort in Tenneref. The Czech star held her nerve in a nail-biting finish to win by one shot. The victory propelled Kuska to second on the Ladies European tour, Order of Merit, and a careerhigh ranking of 113th in the world. Yeah. So, if you go to the Ladies European Tour website, you can actually cast your vote there and they tell you how the votes going. So, I can actually tell you how it stands right now. And leading the way with almost half of the votes is Singapore’s finest Shannon Tan. So if you want to get your favorite player to win or who you feel should win, you can go to the LE website, ladiesuropeanour.com. And these are the players now who are fighting it out for July’s player of the month. Sarah Burn from 100 yards. Quite striking it well there. Pins on 10. Downwind from the left here for Hall. Trying to land this just on the green. Try and get it to roll back there. Something like that. Well, certainly out of position at nine. You can’t say the same at 10 for Charlie Hall. 55 front. So you can take this further down that green. That’s a delightful strike. Three quarter shots downwind to get it to spin that much. First time playing as a pro in Ireland for Charlie Hull. playing the Junior Soulheim Cup over a decade ago now. It’s hard to believe that she’s still in her 20ies. Had a world amateur championship here as well, the Aspirto Des Santo in 2018. That was won by the American team of Jennifer Cupcho and Lily Vu. Kirsten Gilman also in that lineup. and uh some of the players who played in that in the field this week like Aleandra Finalei, Amelia Garby who had a good day today 69 from the Kiwi. Yeah, Charlie and George playing together. I mean they are the best of buddies. I mean it’s not often that players mix together off the course as well as on it.
I know I spoke to Sarah actually before she went out and uh said she’s looking forward to it. She’s like this is what I want. I want to be in the feature group in Ireland. And she said, I know I’m gonna be playing Goopring. I said, you know, they’ll probably chat amongst themselves and I might try and chat every now and again. She’s like I said, oh, do you want to be best friends by the end of your two days together? She’s like, well, that would be a result. Like she she kind of knows her place. She’s happy. It’s not like they they won’t be speaking to her. They just won’t be speaking to her as much as they will be to each other.
Well, it’s a treat for her. And as we’ve mentioned already, it’s over a decade, I think, since Charlie and George are actually put together in the first two rounds of a tournament. So, a treat for them, too. Sarah, one of the the rookies on tour. Tidly done. A second shot for Luna Sabbron. Across wind to the ninth hole. 100 yards. Come back. Yeah. George Hall was saying that, you know, they know each other so well and their personalities that she knows when Charlie’s upset before even Charlie does. She’s said she’s counseledled her on occasions. She’s always there to listen to her best friend. met on a putting green at age 13 for Birdie. Well, she started the front nine in style and more of the same to start the back nine. Much needed after the drop shots at 8 and nine.
Her putting coach Nick Sto has been out here for the last couple of days with her. just working on getting the stroke more level, more 50/50, so it’ll be shorter on the way through than it has been in the past. Nice little reset for Charlie in terms of putting on that birdie there.
Well, she doesn’t need to shake anything off after holding a pad on the last screen for birdie, Blanca Fernandez. We’ve been waiting for Blanca. She finished fifth in Australia at the New South Wales Open, but we’re waiting for her to really challenge in Europe. This wind really gusting up. It could affect the put here for Georgia Hall. This one, another left to right put, left edge. Well done. Charlie and Georgia actually played together in golf sixes and they beat Ireland on the way and Paul Dunn was one of the Irish players playing for Ireland. Paul done by the way George’s boyfriend and Caddy which is why she knows this course really well. She comes here a lot over the last six months. There is Paul DP World Tour winner on the British Masters. Do you think she reminds Paul about that once or twice?
Yes, she’s very competitive. It wouldn’t have been the last time that Georgia beat Paul at golf, I don’t think. Good up and down. She must have been nervous as well as excited.
Yeah. But she’s got this character. A lot of them on that Curtis Cup team have. She’s got a little bit of Mimi Roads about her where it’s it’s encouragement. It’s the excitement. I want to be there.
Joanna Wrigley gets herself to level Park. Had a little chat with Joanna yesterday and she’s saying that she’s lost a little bit of zest for the game and is contemplating maybe what to do next. We’ll watch that. Of course, a player who a couple of years ago finished second on the order of merit was voted players player of the year. Gets herself back to level par with that birdie at the 13th. Yeah, new time slot for this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. We uh were late August, early September last year, now early July. expecting crowds of maybe even up to 40,000 for the week. I mean, the weekend they expect to get really busy. Well, of all the holes to play when the wind is feeling like it’s its strongest, it’s the 11th. 385 yds. Straight back into some wind here. Yeah, the yardage is the same
as 10,
but yeah, it’s uphill this one, not downhill. It’s total opposite.
It’s complete opposite. Plays are probably about 40 yards, 50 yards longer.
Get down the left hand side here. tip for you at home watching. You see how she teed the ball lower there and actually nudged it towards the uh the hole almost at an angle to keep the golf ball down. So par for Blanca Fernandez remains four under. Just run through the fairway there. All depends on the light. Yeah,
the dough bird’s nine gets herself to two under part back on the 11th T.
Yeah, good one. Great swing.
Was a good swing. Very free free flowing swing. Incredible to think when we first came to this event in 2022, there were just three Irish players in the field, 16 this time around. Mocha Kabori playing with Nado gets herself to one under part. Nice way to end the power run. Living Mafy off to a great start. Eagle the first. Unfortunately, it’s gone a little wrong for her since then. That was almost chipping though.
Well, she pulled out of Germany last week with a a bad back which meant she came to Carton House early. Something to look out for there. But Luna abroad gets under par as well. Up and down day, but out in 36. It’s a par 37. in the front nine. P 36 back, past 73 in total. Well, this is how things look on the order of merit right now coming into this 14th event of the ladies European tour season. The number one back in action this week and amongst the leaders early as we’ve seen at five under par given Kuskver and last week’s winner Shannon Tan are not in Ireland. Maybe a chance for the English rookie to stretch a lead. Five of the top 10 in action in this week, including the other rookie winner this season, Darcy Harry, who I believe will be joining us in commentary in a very short while. And as I’ve mentioned as well, this is the last week for the cutoff point. Five players will book their place in the AIG Women’s Open who haven’t yet qualified. And at the moment it goes down to number 14. Luna Sabbrongas who we just saw go to one under par. But Amelia Garvey finishing at four under is right on her tail. And we’ve seen Brianna Narosa holding one today at 18. They’re also going fairly smartly so far. It’s a busy time of year. Mr. Green left swaying on the fifth pitching back into some breeze. It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the halfway point of the season. Sophie, it’s good to be back in Europe, though, isn’t it? It took me an hour to get here on the on the plane. Just jumped across the water. Pin 16 on nine from the left. It says 32 in depth, but on the line of that pin, there’s only another 12 y over it. Back into the wind. Georgia took the words right out of my mouth. She wants to know what’s beyond it because this green sits from back to front. 156 yds, but playing more like 170 here. That’s a good shout. Thankfully avoided all the fans over there. Left herself an awkward little up and down. Hopefully a decent lie for Georgia Hall. 150 yds left here for Charlie trying to hack one out of the semi- rough. The rough’s a little bit longer this year. Never juicier.
It Yeah, definitely juicier. It was It was wispy, wasn’t it? Last year it was a drier time of year, but I think Charlie’s just shown with the the t-shirt on nine and 11 that you really don’t want to be missing these fairways. A cracker from Burn. She’s only got 126 yds to the pin. She flew all those bunkers down the right hand side back into the wind trying to thump a nine iron on the walk. Didn’t like it. That’s why such a good drive as well. It’s interesting watching her in Belgium. She got right in the mix at the Hoolen Court Women’s Open and then when it just started to unravel a little bit, she got very hot under the collar visibly. Walking quick now, isn’t it?
Yeah. Well, that’s a stroke of luck for Navarosa. That was traveling. She’s had a hole in one and now she’s had a chip in. What a day she’s having.
You don’t like that? She doesn’t like the putter. Hey, great line. It was traveling. I mean, that’s going 20 ft past.
That’s a stroke of luck for Navarosa. That was traveling. That’s what I said. Yeah. And now she’s had a chip in.
So good. I said it twice. Alice Houston was one of up up there in the final round of the Amundi German Masters. One of those who suffered in the very windy final round conditions currently at one over park. And well, we mentioned Navarosa’s had a hole in one. She’s not the only Sophie Bringer with a birdie there. Or I actually believe that was for a par at 18. Had a hole in one over at the 16th. The beautiful 16th hole. Oh, that is one for the collection over the Ry River. Okay. Nice way to take yourself back to level par. So Sophie bringing level par. Two holes in one in one day. We had that, didn’t we, in Tenneref a couple of weeks ago. There’d only been four holes in one on the ladies European tour season. Then we had four in a week in Tenneref. We’ve had two in the opening day here. Now, how about this one for Georgia Hall? Well, you can hear it, can’t you? Listen to this. She has to keep that speed up through impact. Got nine yards of green that she needs to land this on. If she leaves this one short, it’ll be in the bunker. She has to play longer this flag. Just jammed it into the back of the ball and it came out hot. Just the friction there of the rough, it just stops the club and keeps it square. So problems for Georgia Hall little more straightforward, but we haven’t seen the lie. There it is for Sarah Burn
with wet sand. This will come out lower and release more. willing her on, aren’t they? I mean, the Irish have so much support for their local talent. And they play to the crowd, don’t they? She’s in her green. It’s like, I know I know what to do here. It’s been a good week already with Padre Harrington winning a major championships on the seniors last week.
Yeah, Portug actually met with Sarah and a couple of the other Irish rookies when
there was the LA Mariam Cup at the start of the year. They had the senior tour event in Morocco as well. And he took them out for dinner, gave them some advice, which was warmly greeted and received from Sarah and some of the other players. Has been losing shots around the green this season. Georgia Hall losing half a shot. They’ve done that already. Hitting through. This one’s easier. More green to work with. hitting into a slope and the wind can be bold, but it wasn’t
well. She started so nicely, had a couple of other bird early birdies, and then threw in a double bogey over at the fifth. She’s now picked up another couple of birdies since, and looks like she might chuck back another double bogey at the scorecard.
Yeah, I mean, it’s not it’s not been a great season for Georgia. She’s had six miscuts already. hoping to play alongside Charlie. I think would spark something for a summer. Yeah, she loves being back in Europe. Georgia Hall says it’s uh just something about it that brings out the best in her. Loves the weather, loves the conditions, the courses, the grass. This one gets slow around the hole. We’ll try and fall off from left to right. Gave it a thumb. Really good effort from Charlie Hul. Putting a lot of work in this week. Coach Matt Belcham’s here. I already mentioned a putting coach. Often you see a player without a cap. Blanka Fernandez, fabulous. Uh maybe a little longer than she hoped. Somebody sponsor her. Get a logo on her cap.
Now here’s Roshin Scanland, another of the Irish amateurs. I’ve seen this go. No. stays four over. Played with the eventual champion the first two days last year. Played with Annabelle Dimmick. And if you’re wondering why Annabelle’s not in the field this week, Sophia got other things going on in her life. Yeah, she’s pregnant with a little girl, but we will be hearing from her this weekend. She’s going to come and be an ambassador for the event to avoid a second double bogey of the week. So, back to level par. Had theself in a horrible spot with the second and frustrating. One step forward, two steps back. Yeah, you’re hoping look you you come back to Europe GB and I where you mentioned how much she loves it and you think oh maybe this will be the change and throwing in two doubles already looked good for so long but that is a drop shot for Burn Yeah, feisty character. Sarah Bur played a big part in that win for Katrina Matthews team in Sunnyale last year.
She was undefeated. Charlie Hill won her Curtis Cup at Na Golf Club up on the east coast of Scotland. You were there recently for the women’s amateur. Charlie Hall remains within three shots of the lead.
That’s like a little bit of slip. Five birdies already today from the best placed player in the world rankings in the field. Starts the week 19th. Well, last year’s number one on the ladies European tour, Kiara Tambellini setting the pace with a a birdie finish for opening round of 67. Hannah screen half Irish. Her mom is from Gway. She’s one of those a stroke behind. How cosmopolitan does that page look? I know there’s a couple of Swedes there, but Morocco and Poland, Switzerland leading the way. Well, it’s the women’s Euros at football, isn’t it? Just started Switzerland’s first game last night. We’ve got that here on the ladies European tour with a sprinkling of the rest of the world and that leaderboard. Yeah. Madison Hinson Tolchard and Amelia Garvey, couple of the rookies. Kinson Tolard from Australia, Garvey from New Zealand, although she was born in Manchester. Lotty W going along superbly well. Four under par. It’s going to be exciting to see how she plays here. Ona Donigan who was with Lotty last week winning the Vaglana Trophy. Kapalanda. Mah Hogab slipping back to two under now. She got off to a good start. Mentioned that Darcy Harry will be joining us shortly. She’s finished at one under bar. Same as Leona Maguire. Mention lot. Well, here she is. Front right pin there. Ball was way below her feet. That one shot off. from right to left. Optin for the hybrid down the left hand side to avoid the two fairway bunkers also because she doesn’t like the 3-wood. I can’t or the hybrid should get a good view of the Tonnell tower. Last player in the field, Esme Hamilton got in after the withdrawal of Lean Pace, runner up last month in Belgium. Fairway narrows in at 234 yds. That’s why these players are opting for a fairway wood. 346 yds. Bottleneck severely just before the green. There’s a corpse of trees both left and right. Teeing it down once again. Georgia Hall’s opting for the driver. This really does bring the fairway bunkers right into play. Into the thick grass again for Georgia Hall. She will have to come over the trees short left of this green. That is going to be interesting. Blanka Fernandez this to get within one of the lead. The older sister was the one that we first came across. She actually uh lost to Lotty W in the British girls final Katia.
Yeah, it’s been a it’s a golden generation, isn’t it? in terms of uh the young Spaniards, although Carlos Zaganda showed a few weeks ago that she’s determined to keep hold of the mantle of the best player right now from Spain. But Blanca part of a a really top rookie bunch on the ladies European tour this year and delighted to say another one of those rookies joins us in the commentary box right now. Dy Rose Birdie P just misses Darcy Harry with us. Darcy, afternoon. Thanks so much for coming in.
No problem. No problem.
I know you’ve just you been just been doing a clinic.
Yeah, I just did a clinic for some of the young girls and young boys in Ireland which was really nice.
Yeah, they are so enthusiastic. I mean, good crowds today and the youngsters, they love golf.
It’s crazy how many youngsters they do have here. I mean, and it’s so lovely to see how many girls they’ve also got really interested in golf. And I had lots of the girls asking questions and yeah, watching my watching me hit some shots on the range, which is really good because you don’t see that a lot much anymore.
What was the best question you got asked?
Can I have a golf ball?
Yeah, lots of that. But actually, a lot of the girls wanted to know what I was wearing. I think I should say you got a very nice pink outfit on today. I hope you got enough pink saved up for tomorrow.
Oh yeah, lots. Pink Friday tomorrow for I think the girls are more interested in the look of the golf than actual play. Absolutely.
Well, we’ve got Charlie Hull here who’s also got the look. I think same outfitter as you.
Yeah, we both wear the same brand which is nice. She’s definitely one of my idols I’ve always looked up to. So, it’s really nice to see her out here as well.
Have you met her this week yet?
Yeah, I did actually. We were sat in a restaurant just us two last night and we got chatting which was nice. So, I was trying not to fan girl too much, but yeah, it’s really nice to see her playing in this event. She’s playing the 12th here. You can hear it chatting with Adam. It’s an interesting hole, Darcy, isn’t it? Depending where you put your T-shot, how far you lay back.
Yeah, you can two options here. You can either lay up to the fairway or you can try and get a drive down there. You can hit the slope and kind of get down quite close for a wedge or less than that. Firing it through the branches there, Charlie with a wedge pin high. Well, you’re going to see Charlie a few times, aren’t you, over the next few weeks? Evianne, fourth call.
Yeah, I’m looking forward to it.
Did she ask you for any tips about Royal Fourth Call? No, she I think she’s played it a few times. She said Wales is one of her favorite countries. So that was quite nice.
She goes walking a lot in Wales. Yeah. She says she loves it. So it’s going to come up shy from Alexander. She said she went to Dublin on on Monday night.
Oh, did you?
Went into town. Yeah.
Oh, nice. There’s lots to do around here. I think that’s another great thing about Ireland is there’s so many things to do and the people here are so lovely.
They really are. They really are. place full of history as you can see from the corner tower that is in view from many of the holes. Sarah Burn has 77 yds across wind from right to left. That flag 17 on eight from the right. So, pretty much in the center of this green from Sarah. Bert. When you went out this morning, was it as windy as it is now? It was. Yes. I think when I came in, it feels quite like the wind has dropped on the range cuz when we were warming up this morning, it was quite a lot of wind. But I think in certain holes it’s blowing a lot harder than it is on others because then you’d come to a few holes and there was no wind at all. Good luck. Go try and go over that tree. Georgia Hall. Oh, that’s a brilliant shot. You’ve only been a pro a matter of months, Darcy. I mean, what is it like playing with a major champion like Georgia Hall? You’re in the same field as Charlie Hull as well. I mean, is it a kind of pitch me moment for you? Definitely. I think I really want to play in a group with one of those. I think it’d be really nice to see the games, compare them, and yeah, see how they play, which would be nice.
Should have asked Charlie for a practice round in Evian next week.
Yeah. Six par fives on the course here. There were six last week in in Germany. You you didn’t play in the German masters. You were back in Wales. There’s Bronty Law three over par today. This is her second into 13. A player that got the wrong side of the draw last week. There was a a big difference if you went out early. Was it no late early, wasn’t it? Was the
She finished 10th and she was the best place player on in the field who were on that side of the draw. I mean, gorgeous views. I don’t know how much you take them in when you’re walking around the golf course.
I definitely think that hole there with the tower and and hole 10 as well. That’s really nice. I don’t think you can appreciate how far you can actually see from up there on those holes.
Yeah, this the miracles. There is a Montgomery course here as well where they played the the men’s uh Irish Open back in the day.
Thomas Bejorn and Paul Casey amongst
those calling Montgomery course. It’s lots of left to right dog legs because this course has plenty of right to left. They they build them to suit themselves, don’t they?
They do. And I should say a Welshman won on the other course. Steven Dodd won the Irish Open.
Oh wow.
Here. So they are
maybe some good luck for the Welsh this week.
Fingers crossed.
Having shot one under today. How did you how how did you feel your round went?
Yeah, I played really solid. Just fairways, greens, but I had four three putts today, which was disappointing, but they were all long. They were all long putts. Uh I think it’s tricky the long ones on the greens. They’re running different paces. Sometimes they’re super super slow. Uh and other times they kind of somehow shoot off. So, it’s quite difficult to pace the long ones. Do you know what this part will do? I wasn’t that side of the green. I was the other side of the hole. But left Yeah. left, right? When Georgia won the AIG Women’s Open. That must have been prime for you, the youngster. Did you Did you watch it? Yeah, it was. I did. I watched the last hole. I always remember her jumping into a caddy’s arms. I think that was Yeah, it was great cuz she was quite young at the time as well when she won.
Yeah, that Caddyy was her dad who uh watch Navar Ro who for good luck didn’t wash his socks all week.
Yeah, they were the lucky socks, weren’t they?
They must have been the smelly socks as well.
Oh, they must Yeah,
you know, walking around Royal Li and Stans for 4 days. But it worked. They were the lucky socks. And Charlie could be a bit like that. If she’s in an outfit and it’s going well, she will stay stay in that outfit. Say it’s waterproof, she’ll keep them on. And today on the ranger, Caddy Adam was like, “Do you want to put your waterproofs on?” She’s like, “No, I’m absolutely fine.”
Do you have any uh strange superstitions, Darcy?
If I’m passing, well, I keep the same marker. Same with the golf ball as well.
Okay. Downhill, right to left here. Pity, but going along nicely. Three under par. Only three shots behind Kiara Tambellini. Par 360. We’ve had a hole in one here today. Sophie Brnner. Lovely hold this.
Yeah, it is. Oh,
nearly had another hole in one.
Esme Hamilton, who was one of those chasing you, wasn’t she, when you uh I know she was up there in the Czech. Yeah, in the Czech Republic where you also were very much in the mix.
Yeah, I was chasing her that way,
yes, she was in the final group. Left edge. Oh, just back to level. Well, can’t hear the crowd, but they’re cheering, I promise you. Back to level par. Lovely bounce back from Sarah. Enjoying it. That’s what you got to do, is it? Play to the crowd. Will you be like that at fourth call when you’re you’re the local goal?
I’ll definitely be nervous, that’s for sure. But it’s going to be nice to have people out there supporting and it’s going to be great for whales in the area. Really hopefully it’ll inspire lots of not just golf but lots of different spectators, different sports. How many times did people ask you, are you qualified yet? Are you qualified yet? Was it getting a little bit much? So many people. I think every event everyone was always asking, so how did you get into it? Uh, you know, where’s the qualifier and all that? Now I finally qualified. Everyone’s kind of knows I’m qualified and no one really asks now.
It’s just how are you looking forward to it?
So now they’re asking can I get a ticket?
I haven’t had anyone actually ask yet. So it’s coming. This wind could be affecting the puts right now. It is gusting. That’s the 12th green.
Georgia Hall stays at level park. Darcy Harry with us in commentary here at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open on the Omira course at Carton House Fairmont. Congested leader ball. Plenty of rounds in the 60s. None better though than that 67 from Kiara Tambellini. Blanka Fernandez in the sunshine at 16. She went to university at Texas A&M, so this wind will be helpful for her. Maybe not quite the heat being from Spain and going to Texas. She’d like it a bit warmer this Irish summer, but look at that view. downhill par 4 13th now last year Darcy this hole played downwind.
Yeah.
This year it’s f.
Yeah. So tell us
nearly into
Yeah. So tell us the difference from when it plays into I know you weren’t here last year but we we can see there which bunkers are in play now.
So actually the left ones are in play whereas yesterday the wind was downwind for the practice round. So everyone could carry the left bunker. So it made it a lot shorter hole. But today the line are the two bunkers down there. Maybe not Driver. I think Driver brings them into play. So it’s more of a smaller wood. Well, Charlie Hill isn’t keen on hitting the fairway woods. She’s hitting a four iron there. And big news, she switched the blade out. Thought I mean I wouldn’t call it a cavity, but there’s a bit of help there. So she says it goes higher and it goes further. So the the butter knife has been dispatched driver for Georgia. Try and smash it at those bunkers on the right hand side. Play 250 run out with it being into the wind. hopefully just hang on to the fairway there. Not much left in.
Yeah, I think that wind’s changed. It’s a crosswind now. That’s a big drive.
I know you’ve you made friends with a lot of the the rookies on tour. Is Brianna one of them? Yeah, she’s one of my close friends on tour now. So, we’re both rookies in the same year, which is good. She’s from California, but based in France. She was desperate to get into the FVN championship because I think her boyfriend, he actually uh works for the championship after that wonderful T-shot. Hamilton for the two. slammed it in. That is a great two on the signature hole. Who’s inside the top 30? It’s a two under part. Now, I haven’t brought it up yet cuz I knew we were going to look at a little bit of the action from Belgium a few weeks ago, the Hulen Court Women’s Open. Have you watched it back at all yet?
I have actually uh last week when I took my week off and it was really nice to watch. watch the highlights were lovely and
I mean you hold some good parts.
I did. It was really nice to watch.
Tell us I mean this was certainly one of the high points of the day, wasn’t it? This is Is this the point where you thought what was it 13 or 14?
I think this was I can’t remember whether it was on my second round or whether that was on my third. I can’t remember. I think it’s but the last day I patted really really well. I’d probably say putting now is one of my strong points. So it’s quite nice to see it paying off all my hard work. Yeah, you started behind Avani Pashant who we just saw there in the picture, but this was the putt I was thinking of on the on the Sunday when you rolled that in. I thought personally that that that was going to be it for you, but I suppose when you’re out there, you feel like there’s still plenty of work to be done.
Yeah, I had lots of adrenaline. Um, and putts were getting the right lines and going in that week. The greens were lovely. I play a lot better. I putt a lot better on quicker greens. I quite like rolling them into the hole instead of having to really try and hit them in. And what’s it like, you know, you’re in this position for for the first time to hit these type of shots to hold those putts when it matters? Really nerve-wracking. Yeah, for sure.
And this is at 18. You had a few putts for it. I still wanted to at least hold it or two putt it. I didn’t want to finish on a three putt. I think I was so nervous to miss a small putt like that to finish, but it was great.
And this was the winning moment and and a special one for you as well. Obviously getting the breakthrough win, what it meant that it got you a place at the AIG Women’s Open and a first trophy of hopefully many for you on the ladies European tour and worldwide.
Yeah, it was lovely and the trophy was really lovely. Apparently, it was a handcrafted owl of
Yeah. I think it was bronze because they had something like 250 species of owls on the course there hen court which is why they uh had the owl trophy. It’s a special for you as well. And you had your boyfriend on the bag as well. And more good news, you’re in the women’s open. He’s now in the men’s open. Is that right?
Yes. I’m going to go and watch. It’s actually on our week off. So going to see how the men do it and then hopefully get some inspiration to do.
Don’t caddy. You just I did offer Caddy said he hasn’t walked 36 holes.
We should mention
to not to not caddy in the open.
We should mention his name as well cuz we didn’t and it was my fault. Jakob Scovison.
Yeah.
So his second open in a row as well because he qualified last year as the as the amateur champion but first time as a pro. Sarah Burns to fly. But these are such exciting times, aren’t they, for you?
Yeah, definitely. It’s moved so quick for me, which I mean, it’s a whirlwind and I’ll probably look back at the end of the year and won’t be able to believe how far how far I’ve come this year, which is really nice
because that event in Belgium was only your eighth on the Ladies European tour. Eighth as a a pro. So you’re just about into double figures into events and now you got two majors to play in the next few weeks. It’s easy this rookie. Yeah. Great drive like I said by Georgia Hall. 280 yards. It leaves a 34 front and the pins 10 on. Missed a landing zone there by a yard or two. Just took the sting out of it in that fairway. Navarosa for her birdie. What’s she like as a player then? Navarosa. I’ve not actually played with her in competitions. We’ve only ever played nine holes in Australia on our week off. So, we’ve not done practice rounds together either. So, I’m not too sure.
Okay, fair enough. for par for Blanca Fernandez. Stays at four under playing with Navarosa and also going along really well Alexandra Swain. Well, that’s five birdies and no bogeies. Moves into second spot. tight for second, I should say. Have you been to this golf course before?
No, never.
What do you make of the layout then?
I think it’s great. Course conditions lovely. The fairways are really nice to hit shots off, which is really nice. It’s a great setup this week. It’s nice to have the hotel on site as well. Yeah, many of the players are staying in the uh the Cart House Fairmont Hotel, which you uh can see when we look at 18, the big paladonian building. Great history there. It was built by the Earl of Lster back originally back in the uh 17th century. How much do you I mean the scores are running down. How much do you look at those scores Darcy after you finish? Are you one of those that we’ll have a peak to see how everyone else is going or do you just leave it to yourself? I do enjoy looking at the scores, but the thing is with four round events a bit like back in check uh with um the winner. She was 93rd
Cassandra. Yeah, Cassandra. So, it was crazy. You know, I think it’s very hard on a four round event to really judge.
Well, that was nicely judged.
Georgia Hall gets a fifth birdie of this round and back under par. Much needed. What do you make of this stretch coming up next? 14, 15, and 16. The only holes with water on them.
It’s a tricky path three. It’s not playing too long, but still it’s a long iron for a lot of girls. Um, the green is quite big, but it’s a scary T- shot. I think
we’re talking about 14, but I mean just that stretch in in total is Yeah, the stretch stretch at the end’s a tricky one. The par five isn’t really reachable. Isn’t really reachable today and two. Um then again, you got the par three and then you got another par five and the tricky I think the 18th is a really tricky finishing hole. Georgia and Charlie Paul and Hull matching each other with the birdie threes here at 13. Hull now back to four under made some good up and downs. Sarah Bert. She’s also a big Charlie Hall fan. So, they make their way to the par 314th, which uh Darcy and I were just chatting about. Start of the Amen corner around this stretch, which Sophie had a look at. The 14th hole, par three. This tea box is so tranquil, surrounded by the trees. It looks pretty. However, you can’t feel the wind direction here. The hole plays downhill. It’s about a club downhill as well. Also, missing the green can be quite easy, especially on that right hand side. Here will be a common spot. Why? Because there’s water looping around this green and right is dry. But as you can see, it’s not an easy chip. Can’t see the bottom of the pin. This is the start of Amen Corner, the 14th hole. And quite honestly, you take a par. Former champion there, Clara Davidson Spila up on the green chipping up. She won at Dramolan Castle where we played the first couple of years on the tournament’s return, famously taking her shoes and socks off on the penultimate hole with a fabulous up and down. We’ve had some action, haven’t we, at these Irish Opens. We had a couple of playoffs when Sonibu beat Vanam and then Annabelle Dimmick last year. Flag’s on 20 yards. So, this is a simple chip and run here for Mafey. Yeah. Member at Royal County Down. Now, I know Royal Pall’s great, but that’s not a bad one either. Event. I can’t remember what events were there as an amateur. might be the Irish women’s also. It’s always a great event. Little bit of waiting back on the tea for the group behind. Georgia and Charlie, as Sophie has mentioned, knowing each other since what, they were 11, 12, 13 years of age. You’re the first Welsh winner on tour since Amy Balden.
Yes. I actually remember watching her win, which was very inspirational.
That was in Switzerland. Yeah. What’s that? Been a tough day for Bronty Law. No birdies on the card so far. One last year. Laamearium Cup down in Morocco. One of the first events of the season. Also a winner around Centurion Club which is where we are going back to part of the PAF Global Series in August. Hanging around. Time for a snack. Charlie Hull. One of those just a couple of shots behind the
leader Kiara Tambellini. Um I don’t know that a packet packet about a double no longer the only two-time winner from the Czech Republic Clara Davidson Spila after Sar Kuska’s success in recent months. It’s a shame cuz that was another chip up there. And Sara going back to back in Jabra Tenneref. Oh, miles above her feet here on eight. Back into the wind having to hit a wood into eight. No problem. Oh, a shame. I mean that hole’s 355. So into the wind when you’re watching
these holes televisually can you learn anything watching like this at all? I think it’s actually looking out at some of the like some of the holes now blowing because I’ve now played them. I know how to play them. So, watching them, they’re all kind of making similar mistakes to what people were making to making when I was out this morning. So, a drop shot for Clara Davidson spillover. I think you take some off it. I mean it should be planned,
right?
Yeah. Yeah. I like 34. 2/3 of the way on this pin. 20 on 10 from the left hand side. Wind should be down but from right to left.
Apologies for a little bit of break up. Sebine for Charlie Hall. This one plays a club down the hill. Safely on board. What sort of club were you hitting in here today?
I hit a grip down six iron today. First half of the green is quite steep. It comes back into your face. So if you can hit that portion, it should take the sting out of it. Even with it being downwind and helping impressive T-OT from Georgia So, Darcy, we going to let you go after Sarah hits a T-shot here at 14. Um, been great to have you on tour and it’s it’s been some start for you and looking forward to seeing what you do over the next few weeks.
Yeah, thank you. Thanks for having me.
Absolute pleasure. And your hopes for the rest of this week? Just carry on hitting fairways, hitting greens, and
holding some parts. Yeah. Well, listen, thank you so much for coming in. Also, you know, best of luck with I know what’s going to be a big deal for you playing a major championship on your home course at Royal Pore.
Yeah. Thank you very much. Darcy Harry with us here on day one of this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. She’s at one under park. Five shots behind the leader Kiara Tambellini on what is a blustery afternoon. Esme Hamilton 17. Nicely played from the player from Nottingham from the ups slope here. Navarosa down wind chip. That’s good. Four under in this afternoon wind is a stellar effort.
Yeah, Fernandez with more of the same really. Although this is to get within one of the lead and she’s hold it. Well, I’ll tell you what. The Ladies European Tours commercial director, Theresa Macan’s going to take some credit for this Blanca Fernandez round. If you didn’t hear us saying earlier, played with her in the prow yesterday and gave her some tips about when to what to think and how to act if she missed a puddle too.
Yeah. She said, “Look, you’re putting well, girl. You just need to be more like Taylor Swift and shake it off. hit a good point, it doesn’t go in, you move on to the next hole and you wonder if that song has now got stuck in her head like it probably has everyone else’s now I’ve just said it.
Yeah.
On the television.
But I tell you something, Lilia Vu sang Taylor Swift all the way round while playing with Georgia Hall while shooting 66 to win at Walton Heath at AIG Women’s Open. So there’s something in that some little motto sometimes just sticks with you. Yeah. Thank you. Back here at the path 31 14th part of the golf course where water comes into play here at 14 15 and 16 the the river rye as you can see it there sweeps around the 14th green. You have your own quiet moment there cuz the the fans don’t walk they walk across the river but then they’ll go back up down 15 the par five. So you just get left in your own ampitheater here on the 14th hole. First to go island Sarah Burn from Douglas Golf Club in Cork. This one down wind. Now when we had Darcy Harry in earlier, she said it was hard to judge some of the paces of the greens. And this one will be up the hill, but it’s downwind. So do you play it flat? There’s not a whole lot of break in it. Yeah, nicely judged. Man remains at level par. Well, Navarosa was part of her junior solime cup winning American side alongside Rose Zang. She had a very good college career at USC. Burning for par. Yeah, she uh was part of the junior Soheim Cup team that that won and she held the winning putt against a certain Mimi Roads who’s uh the rookie on top of the rankings right now. Mimi at five under.
All are welcome on the ladies European tour. Even Americans that whole pot. She’s been chewing her way around, hasn’t she? Charlie Hull throughout this opening route.
I’ve been looking at stats and thinking, you know, why is she now world number 19? And the only one I can really get a grip off because strokes gained is all pretty similar is that when in 2023 when she was at her best she had nearly half her rounds were in the 60s. Well, this year she’s only had eight out of 33 rounds in the 60s. So she’s she’s good at playing well and maybe not quite converting all those chances.
Yeah. Looking for her first win of 2025. Had a couple of top 10s on the LPJ tour. One on the ladies European tour in Riyad. It’s been an eventful day really. Four birdies in the first five holes. Off to a flyer. Then a poor finish to the front nine but it’s clawed away back to minus four. No.
Yeah.
Brings in Paul Dunn. A little bit of help with the read here. Georgia Hall can hit this one firm on that right edge. Just not quite enough pace in it from Georgia Hall. You mentioned, you know, a song ahead or a mantra. Darcy Harry who was just with us in commentary. What worked for her was going to the same Italian restaurant every night in Belgium and eating the same meal. Well, she had past the bolognese every night. What wo still going well and it comes as no surprise does it?
Oh, for a golfer being superstitious both. Both I suppose. Yeah.
Winner of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. And this is a course designed by uh Mast’s champion in Mark. Yeah. 1998 Omira won the Masters the same year that he won the the Open Championship as well. So Charlie Hall, Georgia Hall, Sarah Burn move off to 15 and we can take a closer look at it courtesy of Sophie. If Augusta has Raise Creek at Carton House, we have Rise River the 15th pole at par five. What else? from left to right. If the tea boxes move forward, players might be going for it in two. Off the tea, avoid the bunkers. And then your layup zone is between 100 and 75 yards to the front in order to avoid this river. As you can see, the green is very narrow and there is a slope from back to front. So, if you’re pitching in, you really need to control your spin in order to access that hole location. It’s a beautiful golf hole, but don’t get lost looking around. 15 is a birdie chance. Perfect. And that wind
wind direction should be if anything a hair left right 11:00. It’s playing long today. 518 yds back into a stiff wind. Charlie Hall teing it down. Trying to keep the ball flight down on this driver. Loves it. What that does is it encourages you to hit more down on it. Should be fine there. I’m not sure of a bunker 251. So, it encourages you to hit down on the golf ball, gets your loft a tad lower, it gets the launch angle down. What the manufacturers say that these days that you can tear it up high and it won’t be affected in the in the wind as much. You can see Sarah Burns. She’s going with the a driver at the conventional height. This is a club that is one of her favorites. Can reach the bunkers right, can’t reach them left.
Yeah, good job. Very good. Thank you. I mean, to get it over the path onto the onto the the fairway cuz there’s a split, it’s 210 yards. which would be nothing normally. Same play for Georgia as it was for Charlie. These holes 14, 15, and 16 we saw from last year, they can kind of make or break around, can’t they? I’ll be interested to see if this one does get pushed forward um to make it reachable today. It’s a three shooter. It’s really solid, but you’ve got two par threes either side where you can bring the water into play. It’s it’s a great finish around this carton house. Yeah, some good scoring today and interesting to see the names up there. Meline Sagstrom very much been a part over the years of the Soulheim Cup team under both Katrina Matthew and Suzanne Pison. She had a triple bogey on the card. Still a round of 68 that leaves her one shot behind. Blanka Fernandez and Alexander Swain playing out on the course right now on either side of the course. Fernandez playing it the right way round. They’re one back. There’s M Hamilton up at 18. Just avoids the bunker. Good break there and he’s out of Hollingwell Golf Club in Nottinghamshire. Navar Roa the Frenchbased Californian. Also a crosswind on the ninth from left to right. Just half a club out there is loving her time over on the ladies European tour traveling the world. Good drive by Fernandez. Shining the last year join Tambellini at the top and every chance that could happen even with a little bit of zip from 100 yards. She’s got that left for Birdie.
Same story for Alexander Swain who did actually lead the KPMG Women’s Irish Open in its first edition back in 2022. Shot seven under. Oh my goodness. Hits the flag. She could have had seven under here as well.
Yeah, the radar is on today.
And I think that hit the flag fairly low down as well. So, a little unlucky. It’s uh been a terrific opening round from Alexander Swain again 3 years on. Well, enjoying uh watching George Hall and Charlie Hull to veterans if you like storewalks of European golf and also seeing some of the new faces here this week because Lotty W last week was in the Netherlands amongst others as well who are in the field this week winning the Vaglano Trophy. First time that GBNI had won against Europe since Sophie Walker’s days 20 years ago. It’s the first time they’ve held the Curtis Cup as GBNI and the Vaglano trophy. Lotty playing with Beth Cout who’s in the course on Donagan. Lorna McCleman was in that Curtis Cup team as well, but Beth Coutter and Ona Donigan were in the team last week. They had an Irish captain as well. Maria Dunn
wants to play golf with Maria. layup for Georgia. The driving iron out. Yeah, the difference of a a Katrina Matthew and a Karen Stuppples that came into the team at Sunningale. So Katrina Matthew will captain the Curtis Cup again over at Bair Golf Club in LA. Sarah was in the Curtis company, turned pro after that. Yeah, she was the one, wasn’t she? She was undefeated. Played in that turn pro, played in the some road events and then tried to get a tour card out in America. Didn’t quite do that, but it’s got it in Europe. Yeah. What I mean, she has played some Epson tour golf. It’s not easy being a rookie on the LD and traveling back and forth from America. It’s not easy anyway.
No, she’s with two people there that she can speak to about. Georgia and Charlie know all about it. But yes, it’s a lot lot of travel. Good leap here by Lotty. Keeping it below the pin. Settle. Maybe the gust of wind just got that one. It’ll be interested to see when Lotty W decides to turn pro at the world number one amateur. Hamilton to try and close out with a birdie. Changed her whole season. The runnerup spot in the Czech Ladies Open. Pretty much got her in the field here as first reserve for Birdie. And that was to join the pack at five under part. Fernandez to match Tambellini with a round of 67. Fantastic Fernandez to the top. The Spaniard co-leader in this opening round in Ireland. And I don’t think we’re going to hear the last of it
from our commercial director here, Theresa Macan, at the ladies European tour. She played some part in that as well.
The odd potting tip. Blanca Fernandez Garcia Pagio as her full name which every now and again we can throw in there. Well played this afternoon condition. Let’s see what Swain can do. Can she finish off with a birdie?
Yeah, so unlucky with that second shot. is to make it a three-way tie. Just needed hitting. 79th on the order of error. Alexandra Swain doesn’t have a full playing right. So, a real opportunity after that opening round. She’s led laid the foundation of going a long way to making sure she has those full rights for 2026. Winner of the South African Women’s Open. Fin 90 yards to a front pin on 17. Has a back stop. Doesn’t need it. Yeah. What do you make of that round from Blanca Fernandez? We’ve been talking about her, haven’t we? Sort of between ourselves. You know, when’s she going to emerge?
What do you make of that round today from her six under? It’s the start, isn’t it? Especially when you are a rookie. it. You don’t want to put yourself behind an eightball and then be fighting to make a cut. It be great to get that low round in and then start keep pushing on pushing on. But absolutely correct. We’ve we’ve said that she’s almost been steady, hasn’t she? And
yeah, she’s in the top 50 of the rankings. It’s not been a bad
No, it’s not been a bad year. It was like when’s she going to get herself amongst it? And obviously it’s only the first day, but I want to see her in that position now because I believe like from watching the sister and herself that there’s something in those sisters to be excited about.
Yeah. Cayatana her sister also went to Texas. Oh, is still at Texas. 12 yds on. Needs to land it beyond the pin and try and fizz it back. Use the slope. And I suppose for Blanca as well without laboring the point she would have seen what you know Paula Martin did at women’s amateur what Cara Bernat did at the Augusta national women’s amateur and it’s got to boost all those young Spanish players. I think Carl Otto winning as well on the LPGA tour would have certainly have done that. That’s their heroin. This will spin nicely controlled there into 15. This hole the wind is really pumping into from left to right. looked like a mid iron that Char uh Georgia Hall hit in there earlier in the day. People were just pitching it on holding her own in distance here. Burn inside 100 yards. As I say, pitch it beyond that 12 of the flag. Don’t bring the water into play. What an exciting day for Sarah Burn playing on home saw company of Georgia Hall. Charlie Hall little steamy with the first pup. nonchettly wrapped home with the second. We saw that a few times last year when she went and won in Augusta National. Hopefully final shot of an excellent round 69 from Brianna Nervarosa and the American alongside Alexander Sway today played superbly well.
The highlight an ace on the second hole. Yeah, one of two holes in one on day one of this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. And both those players are very much inside the top 10. But Tambellini’s got company at the top. And it’s come from Blanca Fernandez. Fabulous round today from the Spaniard. So six under par is the mark. Like Tambellini, Fernandez with seven B birdies in just the one drop shot. They’re one ahead of a handful of players at five underpart. It includes Maline Sagstrom, Soheim Cup star, and Mimi Rose, the current number one on the Ladies European Tour rankings. Mimi, very well played out there. Five under, one off the league currently. What are your thoughts?
Um, yeah, it was really solid golf out there. I mean the first the first nine was really slow to be honest. I wasn’t holding many putts and yeah they weren’t they weren’t dropping but I loosened up a bit on the back nine and uh I hold yeah a few good putts uh few 20footers and yeah just um gave me a really good boost until the end and yeah I was just consistent out there.
What do you make of this course? I mean it’s a it’s quite a long course to walk around but what’s it like to play?
Yeah I love it honestly. Um yeah it’s great. um love playing on a parkland and um the you got to be pretty straight off the tea. Um and once you’re straight off the tea, it’s pretty short into the greens, so you can kind of go straight out the pins, which I which I enjoy. And um yeah, if you’re aggressive, then um you can go really low.
You certainly can go low on this course. Obviously, you gone low three times this season already to to take the trophy. It’s a really really good field though here this week. So, I guess if you’re going to do week do well any week, this is the week to really show your stuff, isn’t it?
Yeah. Uh, 100%. I mean, yeah, there’s a few obviously LPGA players out here and yeah, I think it’s just um a good test to kind of compare our games to theirs and um not kind of get it into our head, but um kind of just play our own game out there and um see where it gets us in the leaderboard.
So far so good.
Yeah, thank you.
Well done.
Yeah, three wins already this year. Sophie, she’s made it clear she’s she’s not happy to settle for three.
What was it? Five five minimum now for the for the record. She’s been asking our interviewer there, Edgar, like what is the record for a rookie wins on tour? So,
yeah, four. Tambberina managed four last year. Also, Caroline Edwull got four when she was rookie of the year. So, target is five. I I mentioned to her that, you know, I said, “Have you spoken to Adam Norquest at all?” or she goes, “No.” I said, “Oh, she mentioned you in the press conference.” She said, “Did she?” I said, “Yeah.” She said, “You’ve been killing it.” Her her face lit up as I said that. She, “Oh, I’m a big fan of Anna.” Tambellini as well will be one of those. I mean, she’s leading the Soulheim Cup points list at the moment. Kiara Tambellini. I just think, you know, we saw Alban Valenzuela get in as the first Swiss player and then we’ve got another one coming through and we’re looking now on the 15th green of I know to us they’re young. They’re under 30 these two, Georgia and Charlie, but the next generation is just the green ahead in Lotty W. And there’s just so many countries that can get excited about what’s coming through. And you know, Mimi Roads is part of the same management group of these two. And you imagine just being like, let’s get a practice round together. Lotty played a practice round with Charlie this week to get four or five hours with them, asking them a couple of questions and and the the Sol Cup team in Europe especially. There will be a changing of the guard. Anna Norquist will be there, but she won’t be playing I assume. Um, you thought the same maybe about Colossus Sagander until she won. But there’s a couple of spots and when you’re in Europe, a captain is more likely to come. They’ll always go for more LPJ experience, but you might get the odd one that they think, “Yeah, it’s in Europe. Let’s give them a go.” Well, Tambellini was kind of being thought about last year a little bit given the way she’d started the year. And she had a good result in a major. And then you think about Helen Bream. She’s got her first two majors coming up. You know she can make a mark there. She certainly
I’ll take Helen now.
You captain Sophie Walk is taking Brie. Yeah. Georgia Hall with her birdie here at 15. Keep going. Oh, super. Well, she’s responded well to that second double bogey on the car. Georgia Hall.
It’s not been an easy year for her. It’s not, but she’s a fighter. Wled that one in downhill from left to right. She’s desperate to make something happen with her game. And you see, like you said, she’s got the birdie. She’s just got some double bogeies in there. Yeah, six birdies on the card. It’s just those two big mistakes. We saw the one over at 12. Same put here for Sarah Burn down the hill outside left. Came in the end, didn’t it?
Yeah, just asked a little bit too much of it. But it’s great to see the Irish contingent swelling on the ladies European tour. mentioned earlier, first year we had the return of this tournament, there were only three Irish players in the field, only one pro, which was the only Maguire. There are 16 this year, seven professionals, nine amateurs, and they’re getting backed 33,000 euro a year as part of a Irish golf scheme. Still old fashioned plum bobber, Charlie Hull. It’s the only thing that is oldfashioned about Charlie. Just working on keeping that stroke slightly shorter through impact and keeping the head low. This one cut from left to right for a birdie. Great try. Stays four under. I say her jaw’s going to ache by the end of today though. The amount of chewing gum she’s had. A lot of players do that though, don’t they? to calm nerves or just to
Oh, yeah. Take the tension out. Yeah.
Yeah.
Here’s another of the super rookies on tour this year. Kaiser Arafel from Sweden. Winner of the Axis Series rankings last year. Not one yet, but has had a a fair few top 10s. Three under par today. She’s had three birdies in four holes around the turn. Tied for 19th. Well, it’s been a very enjoyable day, hasn’t it? Around Carton House Fairmont. Day one of this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Big Irish presence. Terrific crowds, lovely buzz, and some terrific performances. None other than from their Irish amateur there, the 20-year-old Emma Fleming. Round of 69, which leaves her a couple behind the co-leaders now, Blanca Fernandez and Kiara Tambellini. Not often you shoot five under par with a triple bogey on the card either. Maline Saxram today with an eventful couple of holes on that front nine. Do you know what? When you’re Meline Sagum, you do cuz she has got the talent. You go watch her on the driving range. That swing. Teach me. Actually, I’d love to be as taller tall as her as well. Not wo par 570. Slight dog leg from right to left up to a nice spot there. The world number one amateur. Talking of nice spots. Par 360. You could sit here all day, couldn’t you? And just watch the traffic go by. Got Shell Cottage just to the left hand side which is another part of the history. The more recent history
here at this golf course. It’s called that because there’s a room inside where the walls are filled with seashells. It was built in the 18th century, but it’s where Marianne Faithful lived for 7 years when MC Jagger was on tour with the Rolling Stones. She had the likes of uh Princess Grace of Monaco, Peter Cers, and Julia Andrews stay there. There was some good nights there.
I bet there was. Don’t think they played the par 316 though cuz it wasn’t around in those days. 144 yds. A crosswind from left to right here for Georgia Hall. Back right pin. Not sure where that finish from Georgia. There a few little gasp. There is Shell Cottage. I mean, it’s it is such a lovely part to the golf course. This it’s your quiet zone, isn’t it?
But it’s a tough far three.
It is with this wind because you’re sheltered in those trees. You shoot out over the water and then it just bangs it from left to right. in between clubs really for these players. Nine Iron Charlie hit there. Didn’t want to hit eight and have the back edge in play. You can see why it’s known as Carton houses aiming corner around here. 14, 15, and 16. Burn next to strike. 144 yds. A heavy crosswind from left to right and a back right pin to find. One of the first we’ve seen on the correct level. They’re in County Kildair in the town of Mayith. There’s that Shell cottage that I was mentioning before. Had a bit of everything today. When the sun’s out like it is now, it’s lovely and warm, but then it clouds over, the rain comes down, and you need three layers on.
Yeah. It’s like it’s summer and then it’s autumn, isn’t it?
Yeah. But no complaints.
Yeah. I think the players that have been out on the LPJ tour in America, they’re glad for some cooler weather. Well, I was talking to Maha Adivi who’s from Morocco and she says she she prefers this weather. Yeah. Yeah. This is good golfing. I mean that’s probably a bit too breezy, but in terms of the the temperature and it’s great, isn’t it? This tournament has always had a really good feel to it. But this year with the change of date, you know, Charlie Hall’s here, Maline Sax’s here, Ana Norquist is here, Georgia Hall’s back. It’s not just all about Leona Magguire, is it? In terms of the Soulheim Cup names. Well, I think Leona Magcguire has gone through her phone book and just picked out her best friends and said, “Come on, Evian’s next week. Let’s get acclimatized in Europe with the time difference and get yourself here.”
And Ly W, world number one amateur. And a chance for another birdie coming up. It’s not her first regular ladies European tour event. You remember she played in the Madrid Open when Anna Palai Trevino won.
And do you know why she played in that? because she didn’t get picked for a
It was in March. So, what would it have been?
Oh, there was No, it was she must have played another one because she was in reserve for a Curtis Cup.
Yes.
Imagine now a few years later thinking, “Oh, we didn’t pick her.”
She finished 13th as well in that Madrid Open. First look today at Olivia Coward.
Downhill from right to left. She’s two over part. Not anymore. Finally,
first birdie of this opening round for Cowan. Doesn’t look quite in the mood to celebrate. There you go. She is in the mood to celebrate after all. It’s almost like she heard me. We could quite see where the T-shot from uh Georgia Hall finished
short left. So, it’s dry. Bit of a a miscalculation there. This flag’s 23 yds on. So, she’s got a 25 yd chip up a steep bank, one of the steepest that you’ll find at Carton House. And keep this one down the left hand side as well. caught in two minds. Went for the high option and needed to land it there, not finish it there.
She’s with Paul D there on the back. He She says that he’s still one of the best players of chip shots that she’s ever seen. She said he’s a wizard around the Greek. She wishes at times if she was out here this week that he could chip for certainly would be after that effort. It’s an area of a game that has has slipped looking at stats of of why she’s fallen outside the top 100 and a a short game around the greens have just gradually gone backwards and then today I suppose we’ve seen her miss it left with her approach shots you would only two holes from her today.
Yeah. I mean, apart from that, she’s actually played
very nicely. The levels that Georgia wants to be
Yes. back to,
those are the type of you miss a green, you get up and down. If you miss it left, you don’t want to be taking double. That’s fair point. Got to come up the tier here, Charlie Holtz. It’s uh judging the weight of this pup, putting together a very fine opening day. Yeah, nicely done. And you you always know with Charlie Hull, especially when we see her on the Ladies European tour, I know it’s not always the way on the LPGA tour, but
you know she’s not going to finish outside the top 10.
Tell me the record. It’s insane, isn’t it? Oh, you doubt. I thought you were going to tell me. It’s an amazing record.
It is. Lotty wo to get within one. She’s very close to getting her LPGA tour card for Lotty Wo. We’ll talk about that more in a moment. That’s a bit heavyhanded from Sarah Burn.
That back edge has caught so many players out. That’s why the Charlie Hall was so good. She’s trying to force the issue at the minute, Burns, which is understandable considering she’s at home in Ireland. She’s in that featured group, desperate to get under park. I’ll tell you the Charlie stat. 93 events on the ladies European tour and 43 top 10 finishes.
So almost one and two. Yeah, it was one and two until just recently couple of events that she’s played. Well, Emma Fleming has led the way today for the Irish players in the field. The 20-year-old amateur who won in Australia only a couple of weeks ago, finishing at four under par. Sarah Burn has this to stay at level park. Couple players in at two under part. Anna Foster who played well in Germany last week and on your Donigan. Two slips to one over par. This is the fourth hole. Par five downwind. fourth shot uh third shot sorry Philipsson who’s hadn’t finished in the top 20 yet this year so players like uh important to try and put together a really good week because I mentioned to almost at the halfway stage of the season Now chip to here Georgia Hall to avoid a drop shot. Well, just a few errors out there today costing Georgia Hall what would have been a a very decent score, but back to one under now. It’s only day one, 85 off the lead. Afternoon rounds like wind’s certainly gotten up today and it’s not anything under par this afternoon. She’s got a par five to come. It won’t be reachable. It’ll be back into the wind.
Yeah, the forecast suggesting weather similar tomorrow and there may be a bit of rain around over the weekend. The last two holes 17 and 18 will be straight back into a a left to right hurting wind. Did see him miss a short one over at eight. Keeps the flag in even for these short ones. Charlie Hull.
Okay. I find that, you know, obviously it doesn’t distract her, but when the winds like this and the flag is moving around a little that it could be distracting. Well, there was a fair few players that decided to to keep it in, wasn’t there? And then gradually, everyone started to go back to taking the flag out. Even the likes of Bryson Des. But it’s very rare that you see Adam Woodward having to pull the flag. Dane gets herself to four under. No drop shots on the cart. Another one. That’s just a couple back. Four under par is any good enough to just get you inside the top 20. It’s been that kind of day. It is a scorable course. We saw that last year. 19 under par got you into the playoff last year. Annabelle Dimmick with Pauline Rousan Bush. Alice Houston just coming up down that right hand side for her birdie to overpar the Houston today. Yeah, just to remind those of you who weren’t with us earlier, we we mentioned Annabelle Dimmick not playing this week. She hasn’t played all season. She is pregnant. She will be on site though as an ambassador and will hopefully join us for a bit of commentary winner last year. Now and Houston with an opening round of 75 there. Couple over par work to do tomorrow to make the weekend. 19th edition of this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Some great champions over the early years. The likes of Katrina Matthew, Laura Davis winning a couple of times. last year’s number one Kiara Tambellini Blanca Fernandez setting the target so far in this opening round. Yeah, Suzanne Pison another one who won around here as in this Women’s Irish Open. Colleen Castle did season with where they had the Soulheim Cup. Leon Harm some really encouraging form from her and Eleanor Sudo as well. Remember she played really nicely last week in Germany. So both those players in that group at four under par off the back of her first Bernie of the day. Cowan now at 18. Front left bunker in play in 15 on five from the left and you have to start it over that bunker. Seven iron for Cowan. Well, she’s got that to get back to level par and everything will be rosy. Look at that wind. It’s southwesterly. We’ve got it all Thursday and Friday. There’s Annabelle Wilson down the right hand side. She’s got 125 yards to the front. Pins on 15. It’s a lie that she’s going to have to dig down into this. And powerful player Wilson to UCLA University going down the grip trying to drive this one out of the second cut. Just coming up short. Player came through Cuscoll. Another of the Irish contingent on tour. Made her pro debut here last year. Pro debut in Ireland for Charlie Hull. Getting a little bit of run out of that. Next up, her best friend Georgia wants to try and hit a draw off these bunkers on the right hand side. 244 to them. That’s perfect. Five 17th wind from left to right. It’s 511 yds. The bunker on the right hand side is 250 run out. Well, such a big day for her. She’s attached to this golf course. I pick a punch. She was attached to Dramod Castle where we had the hour show previously. 125 yds left into the last for W. Stunning golf shot. Over on the other side of the course looking to close out with a birdie is Chloe Williams. Well, she started the day with a birdie and she’s ended it with a birdie. Couple of bogeies in between three of them. So, one over par day for the Welsh woman. Back to 80. opting to put this one. It’ll be slow. Maybe coming back into the winch, you thought, right, well, best thing to do is keep it on the ground, but I’d have liked to see a gap wedge or a pitching wedge there to try and keep the flight down. Annabelle Wilson from the Belfast area. You mentioned uh Suzanne Pison and Kellen Castle. Annabelle actually went to watch when she was a child that tournament in 2012. And then there was a gap, wasn’t there, for 10 years without a KPMG Women’s Irish Open. It’s so good to have it back on the calendar and now it’s one of the
must be at events of the year.
Won tournament of the year last year on the Ladies European tour. Olivia Cowan will break a good foot and a half from left to right for her birdie. Just turn the other way at the end. Birded 70. Yeah, I think it also won the best condition course of the year last year. John Plameumber, the head green keeper here, who was got a bit of fame this week. They uh they had the the morning TV program here on what was it Wednesday morning and John was on the one of those interviewed Leona Magguire as well and Lauren Walsh too and it it’s great isn’t it to see like in Germany last week when Esther Henselite was on you know prime time TV that uh really behind the golf tournament
I think the local Irish TV are here for the weekend as well so it would be good to get a handful of players up towards the top of the leaderboard. board at
the moment. Annabelle Wilson is one of those who’s uh fighting hard to make the cut. One over par which at the moment is in a share of 74th place. Top 60 in tide. Make the weekend back into win this par. Well struck. Hold your line. Good save. She was in the trees off the tea. Short for a second. Good up and down there by Wilson. Remember, Lochi Wo has a birdie pup to come here yet to get to five under par. We’ve already had 16 rounds in the 60s on this par 73. 264 to the front edge looking to lay up and miss the bunker. Right. Well,
she’s gone right. She’s missed the bunker there. This is playing a long way. This 17th hole across wind 511 yds. That’s a beautiful view back towards the clubhouse and she’s got driver 230 yds to the front edge. Georgia Hall having a bash. Come on, Georgia. Little bit leaky down the right. Try to turn on it. That’s all right there. It’s missed that bunker. There’s a bunker at 50 yards short of the green. Short right. That’s exactly where you don’t want to be. Oh, next missing down the right. That’s pretty good cuz it can open up that front left pin in an excellent round. Could get even better here for Lotty W. And it does an impressive performance by an impressive player. Five underpar 21 years old. I’m loving the fact she’s English. OG free ly in fabulous performance from the world number one amateur who is very much going to be amongst the runners this week in Ireland. Still a few holes to play for Cecile Fina Ipsson for her part for Cowan. Roll the birdie Past here.
Keep this one inside the hole. Yeah. He wants to wiggle away to the right. Well, it’s all about Lotty W in this group. And I don’t think in any of us, you know, going to raise our eyebrows in any kind of surprise that she’s produced this kind of performance on day one. Well, she came 31st at the US Women’s Open. She had a top 10 at the women’s AIG Open last year and she’s the next in line to this pair. Just 21 years old from the south of England. Lossy W. She might be from the south of England, but she’s from the the top of the leaderboard here.
Yeah, you can see her there alongside the likes of Hannah Screen in that group at five under park. Screamers in the first group out this morning. Alan Saxton was out there as well as the number one on the order. Mimi roads. They’re all in with those rounds of 68. W now the highest amateur not just in the world rankings but on the leaderboard as well. One shot better off than Emma Fleming. Can see half of the golf ball here for Burn. when she’s missed fairways today. She’s come up short with her approach shot. A front pin six on nine from the right, but it’s cut into a bowl. So if it does go long of this flag, the bowl lasts 15 yds. So there’s another 11 past it. I think she’s going to sign a few of these over the next decade. Lea Magcguire was talking in the press conference last year about how many autographs she signed here last year. She said, you know, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds, but there was still some that that got missed out and she got some letters from some of the parents saying, you know, my daughter missed. So, she ended up actually sending off a load of autographs in the post, even gifting some presents and memorabilia as well to some of the youngsters that didn’t quite get close enough to her to get the autograph.
She gets it, doesn’t she, Leona? And, you know, she’s got that baby face, but she’s 30 years old. She has lived Irish golf since her and Lisa, the twins, they were at the Ryder Cup at the K Club. They they got them up on stage, didn’t they? in you all the local bars, restaurants. Yeah. Yeah. Nicely done. Yeah. I was talking with Hannah Screen and her her mom is from Ireland and her granddad lives in in Gway and he doesn’t really know much about golf, particularly about women’s golf, but he says he knows who Lauren Walsh is and he knows who Leona Magguire is because they’re mentioned in the news in the sports news all the time.
Yeah, they should. Look, the men have got Rory,
you know, and and now with Irish golf, we’ve got not just Leona, got a chipping comp coming up between the two English players. Georgia went for the low option to try to chip and run down that front edge. So from closer, but we’ll char master up here. Looks like there’s some loft in her hand. Lob wedge going high. just nearly slam dunks it. Will it come back down from the slope? No, it won’t. Didn’t look the best of lies there for Charlie Hall. Yeah. Let’s see how close this was actually to going in on the uh on the fly here. Not far at all. just got off to slow starts, you have to say, in the majors this year. Charlie Hall finished 12th in both the US Open and a couple of weeks ago at the KPMG Women’s PGA. Well, this to join the leaders for the downfell in love with the line. 99th on the rankings starting the week. If you can have a good result here, if you’re if you get inside the top 10 here and you’re not already exempt, there’s two spots available for the women’s Scottish Open coming up at Donald Links. If not, you can have some time off. Yeah. The end next week, then a week off, then that Scottish, then the AIG Women’s Open. So, yeah, you’d have a a month without teeing it up. So no birdie for Charlie Howard 17. Has been a busy spell though. Speaking to Tasa Madak yesterday, she was saying she’s played eight of the last nine weeks because there have been so many events. She’s played in all of them. So one or two I think looking for a rest, although maybe not for as long as a month.
It’s been a a great schedule that’s been built together on the Ladies European tour. And the news this week that Alexandra Armas, the CEO of the Ladies European Tour, if you haven’t seen it, is going to stand down later this year. Done a great job. Had two stints at being the CEO on the Ladies European tour and is leaving it in a good spot. Just like to make that crouch here one last time. You saw it on the 12th green. They’ll be back tomorrow for you. They’re not going anywhere. You do your stand over puts thinking, “Oh, if this goes in like what’s going to happen?” You do you want it a little bit more and you can get tight over them and just have them come up short. Georgia Hall was was talking this year about trying to get out of this Poor spell she’s been in. And it’s been about the mentality as well. A mindset she admits hasn’t been good. Maybe a little bit negative. Maybe not focused on the present. She enjoys playing in America, but she loves being back in Europe. Just hoping that a positive mindset can lead to better things. this to get to two under all the way. No shortage of birdies from her today. That is a good sign. The odd blip couple of double bogeies, but look at the amount of circles on that scorecard. Got to take some positivity from that. There seven birdies today from Georgia Hall. So two under part which is only four behind the co-leaders. Blanka Fernandez just the one top 10 this season around a 67. Kiara Tambellini closed with a 66 here last year to finish in a share of fifth. At the time it took her to the top of the ladies European tour order of merit and she would never relinquish that spot winning the rankings. They lead the way. Well, it’s been great watching Sarah Burn teiered up in this opening round alongside Charlie Haron Georgia Hall. enough to get a birdie out of that last hole. Get herself back closer to the cut line. They’re off to 18 as was Sophie the other day. The par 18th hole. You need to hit it right to left off the tea. If you do find that left rough, it is quite thick. But I can tell you where you don’t want to be. Anything down this right hand side. It’s 240 yards to these beautiful trees. and it’s 140 to the front. But if you’re under them, you’re going to have to hit a low one. Up on the green, there’s contours that bring the ball in from the left and the right into the center. But be careful of long left. It seeps away to the back edge and you’ll be chipping. This is the best view to catch all the action on this 18th green. Thankfully Sophie did return from the spot over there to be back in the commentary box.
I’m getting more like Ken Brown, aren’t I?
You need to get a few little ducks or something else to take out.
He used to draw, didn’t he? Used to get his notepad out and draw some drawing. But yeah, bring the ducks out and
roll some balls and stuff like that. Yeah. Getting there. Those trees are in play more so because of this wind direction. And it’s across from left to right. So if you’re trying to hit a draw, which is what’s needed, and you hang it out to the right, the wind will just keep pushing it that way. 384 yd par4. Very nice. So this is right after left 10:00 10
15 five left Is that you you mentioned earlier how Charlie’s got you a couple of coaches with her this week. Is that is that standard for her? Would she normally do that sort of thing?
No, not really. You don’t see Matt Belchum out too often, I think. Well, Nick Sto and Matt Belt will come out to maybe a major or a local event. I would suppose Ireland is that, but I think it shows the importance of the amount of golf that’s been played and like a reset and this and what’s coming up as well. This is the reset for Evian. Don’t know if she’s playing the Scottish or not. She went Scottish AIG Women’s Open.
It’s time for her to spend with her coaches on, you know, like we’ve been saying, great condition this golf course. They’re all staying on site and a warm up from Charlie Hall is normally bump in and out 45 minutes, but she was there a good hour and a quarter before her tea time today.
Here’s Spil of a former champion of 2022. Nice and also she she often turns up to a tournament very late as well and she got here Monday into Ireland as well. Joined a little bit of Dublin. spoke of a champion in 2022 and since it’s been back on tour, well, we’ve had some real fun, haven’t we, at this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Oh, just a little cold. Course he’s done better than that. What a shot from ClariS Milka. If you’re going to get muddy, you better produce something like that. What a day it’s been in County Clair. What a week it’s been at this KPMG Women’s Irish Open. And it’s Claraara Spilova who emerges as the champion. Oh, careful. Oh no. It hasn’t happened again, has it?
She snapped a driver. Oh, 4 to three. It’s heartbreak for Anne Vanam, but it’s tears of joy for Smelia Sonu. What a remarkable day. What an extraordinary performance. It’s been relentless on this Saturday from Annabel Dimick. And the comeback is complete. Just looking at that, I think it’s all been about comebacks. First of all, the comeback of the tournament, as in it returning in 2022. Then the comeback of Smelia Sonibu in terms of she was nine shots a drift going into the final round, shot of 62 and then won in the playoff. Then the comeback from Annabelle Dimmick who had such heartbreak only what was a few weeks early trying to qualify for the AIG Women’s Open. I wonder what we got in store this year. If it’s half as good then I’m inelick coming back from a thumb injury. Sarah Burn down this left hand side got a break in the sense that it ran through the thicker cut of rough.
You want to finish? Yeah. So the pin 15 on five from the left, 36 is the depth of it. Now because she is from this left hand side, the pin on the left and then she’s got a left to right wind. In order to get this close, she has to start it over the trouble. She’s got 120 yards to the front edge, but it’s 125 to carry that bunker. The flag is 135 yds. I would be playing away from this. Well, that is in a rotten spot. Not much green. Looks like the ball’s really sitting down as well. That’s not going to be fun.
Yeah, it looked like she was aiming right. So, it loo like she was trying to draw it against that wind. Just never worked. She started it too left straight away. Georgia has 145 yards with the wind direction. This is sorry 135 yards wind direction back into it. Looking to take the trajectory down on this one. It is gusting out there. See between the flag and the fringe there, there’s eight yards. This is a two club win now for Georgia Hall. Well, these are the sort of conditions Georgia Hall relishes and she could be about to finish in terrific style. Setting up for a drop. That wind just knocked it out the sky. Well, it’s been a treat for them. They get to do it tomorrow again. Charlie Har and Georgia Hall, best of friends, playing together. They’ve known each other since they were little girls. Played together at the Dow last year. They were called the Rose and Thorn. That was their team name. Apparently Ryan Evans gave them that name. They’re a good mutual friend of them because he once described Georgia as the lovely English rose. And Charlie is the thorn. Well, he’s the one that’s got the bet with Charlie about smoking. £10,000. She bet him that she would not smoke again. And it’s going well so far.
Good.
The Thorn is leading that. It was unusual that they hadn’t played together in the Soulheim Cup before last year in America where they won, didn’t they, in the afternoon for balls. When you want to play with your friend, it’s almost like you better win. You got no other option. We saw it with Lynn Grant and Myers Stark. They had some history in the sense that they’d played amateur golf together and they’d won the Sunningale Forsomes. But both of them I felt in America needed something. Georgia and Charlie. They needed each other and it and it came off. So look out for that when we’re over in the Netherlands.
I’m sure Anna Norquist is fully aware.
Yeah.
Of uh their want.
Oh, she’s our best Forsomes player probably of all time. And
well, she had it, didn’t she, with Caroline Hedwall. There was a great partnership. Charlie and Georgia, they won. They beat Lilia Vu and Allison Corpus two up in that Saturday afternoon which gave Europe a little bit of hope going into the singles and then Charlie played some of the best golf we’ve seen in that Sunday single seeing off the world number one nearly cer also played the Sun Forums together earlier this year. So this is a toughy. This one’s now downwind. 5 yds of green to work with. Very good effort there. Yeah, very well played from Sarah Burn. Dream draw for her as well. Playing with uh one of her heroes who she idolizes in Charlie Hull. And Charlie was at Sun and Dell watching and wrote a letter of support for the Curtis Cup team that went on to win that week. Well, it’s kind of this time last year of the Women’s Irish Open, which is why Sarah didn’t play. A good 40 ft left here for Charlie. A double breaker. with that flag. Yeah.
Yeah. Well, the crowds will build through the week. Sold a lot of tickets. They’d love to see an Irish player up there. four under par which is just inside the top 10 from Emma Fleming the best. Leona Magcguire we should point out who we’ll be seeing lots of tomorrow afternoon coverage. Start the day at one underpar. She had lots of good birdie looks over the what was her back night. Didn’t really make enough putts but interesting to see how she goes tomorrow. Sarah Burn to try and finish with a par and a round of 74. Right edge pot. A disappointing day. Such high hopes. Dream draw not quite performed how she would like but in with the fighter’s chance of making the cut tomorrow. Conditions stay similar. You would think it’d come around one over par. It was level par last year but uh Georgia Hall has the opportunity to make another birdie. This for an eighth of this opening round. This is a a harder read. Burns was obvious it was going to move down towards the front of the green. This isn’t as obvious. Been a difficult couple of years for Georgia Hall. Such high standards. She has set a major champion. not to be. Hopefully pop that in. Round a two under. That was one of those where she thought, well, Sarah’s come from right to left, and mine looks like it’s going to go that way, but it can’t be. But just from that angle, that two feet lower, two feet closer to the front edge, and it stayed high right on her. Well, not guaranteed par here for Charlie Hall. Was to keep this one inside the hole. came out of the block so far. She birded four of her first five holes. So it was four under really which is where she is right now as well. That’s disappointing. Dropped a couple of shots at the end of the front nine. One goes right at the end here as well. So, three under par round of 70 from one of the tournament favorites, Charlie Hull. I mentioned the lack of rounds in the 60s this season. Thought we were going to see one there from Charlie. a day with some real encouragement for Georgia Hall. Yeah, there were a couple of poor holes in there, the double bogeies at the the fifth and over at 11. But lots of good there, too. Agreed. the the fact that you’ve made all those birdies, it shows that there’s a lot of good stuff in there and it’s about building blocks. It’s trying to build rounds and then turn one round into two good rounds and get some confidence back and see, you know, the hard work that you’ve been putting in. Is it coming into fruition? Cuz golf can be hard sometimes. The harder you work, the the less the rewards. Well, these three will go back out tomorrow morning at 9:00. Charlie Har and George Hall three and four shots back respectively. Plenty of autographs to sign. Let’s look back at how the the good friends, the English duo Charlie Harland and George have all went in this opening round. That’s the new autograph, isn’t it? the uh the selfie. I’d go for the selfie. Stick it as my screen saber. So, while they signed those, it’s as I say, you look back at how these two have gone today. Charlie Hall came out of the blocks firing. Whereas at the end of the front nine, it was Georgia Hall who stepped up really.
Well, she was two under early, threw in a double and then made this. She would go out in one under park. And then a 10. Another birdie from Georgia. The downhill pile four after a lovely second shot in. We’re back under par.
The very next hole she made double then made par on 12 and birded 13 to go back under par for the day. town side of the top 100 in the world now and as we’ve just been mentioning looking to build some confidence and plenty of birdies on the scorecard. Here’s another holding some decent length putts as well.
She impressed Charlie there whereas Charlie herself had just bogeied eight and nine like Hall managed to birdie 10 after what was a brilliant start to the day. four birdies in the first five holes. Couple of pars and then she had this down the slope on 13 for birdie. Send that one home. Unfortunately, she would bogey the last hole of her day, missing a short put. She’d go round in 73 under par.
Yeah, interesting stories. I know it’s only day one and you can’t read too much in it, but Blanca Fernandez, young Spanish talent, Kiara Tambellini, last year’s number one, sitting the pace, and then you got players like Saxram, Mimi Rhodess, who’s had such a great 2025 and Lotty W up there as well, five under.
It’s everything that we want. We’ve got Solheim Cup heroes. We’ve got people wanting to get into the Solheim Cup and then some rookies. There’s always some rookies up there looking to win on the ladies European tour.
Yeah, some Soulheim Cup heroes and some Curtis Cup and Vaglani Trophy heroes as well. Well, it’s been a tricky day. Been a windy afternoon. Bit of rain around, although the sun has been out predominantly the last few hours, but it wasn’t that easy for the morning starters as well. But best round of the afternoon has come from Blanca Fernandez. A round of 67. Let’s hear from the Spaniard. Very many congratulations. Six under currently tied for the lead. Tell me about your day.
Well, it was a it was a good day. Like uh me and and Kate like were like talking through all of the shots. Uh like I was relaxed and then uh I just kept hitting the ball and then doing the plans and then everything was like going. Oh,
did you did you feel this good round was coming when you were coming into this week? I had a look at your form. It’s a little bit up and down recently, but that was pretty good stuff out there.
Well, honestly, I wasn’t feeling like that, but I mean, you you never know like in golf like you keep working and then uh like uh you never know what’s going to happen. So I had like I did some changes like last week and then like I also called Kith and then I I was like I tried to rest because we had have like six tournaments in a row and like and I think those little changes at the end like uh help to have a good round and then because the game is there just need to have the head there and in and in the in the proam you played with someone from the le and they’re claiming that they gave you some great putting advice. Just explain to me what I’m talking about. I might have to go now and and pay her for the advice. No, but yeah, she said like the she said like just get your mind out of everything and then and then we had a very fun run like pro round like sometimes you get super tense on them and then with them it was like easy and like we just kept hitting and laughing. So I think that helps also you know.
And also what about your caddy? You say he was there on the bag when you did well in Australia and is he just on the bag for this week again then?
Well, uh I think he’s going to come back like more but like right now it’s this week. So for this week he’s here. Yeah.
Well, he’s he’s watching you on you have to how is he helping you? How what difference does he make?
Well, the guys make a lot of diff difference because you are there with them. is like part of the team like in the moment, you know, like you have more team like behind but like in the moment with the pressure and like all the emotions and like all the problems and no problems. It’s like you know you have it’s you and him so it’s like it’s fun like and then but sometimes it’s also not fun. So well there’s no problems for you today. No, today is perfect.
Very good leading the way. Congratulations.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Well, it’s great to see the smile there of Blanca Fernandez. Terrific performance from her as well. H and we mentioned it earlier on Sophie, we’ve been kind of waiting for this round since she posted that good performance in Australia.
Well, she had a 65 in Australia down in Wllingong and and this is a player that is right up there in terms of the next talent coming from Spain. Has that flamboyance about her round of 67 there and clearly enjoying it. We saw it in the interview. You saw it there after she held the pad at the last. Hey, you got to enjoy the good time. Seven birdies in a bogey. You’ve got your name at the top of the leaderboard. And
and it’s a big week, isn’t it? Because, you know, we see the name of Meline Sax. We’ve just been watching Charlie Holland Georgia Hall. Last year’s number one is, you know, alongside her at the top of the leaderboard. It’s it’s one of those weeks where you, you know, we’ve seen from today lots of rounds in the 60s. You’re going to have to keep pushing your foot on the gas to really have a chance of winning.
Well, Annabel Demit won round here with 19 under par last year. So, that’s that’s the number that you’ve got to look to and maybe push a little bit further because last year the conditions were firmer. It was harder to get to the pins. Right now, it’s just throwing darts out there.
Well, at one point today, Meline Saxstrom actually got to eight under par and what was an eventful round of day. The Soheim Cup star is another who’s been chatting alongside Edgamors. Well, well played out there. 10 of two nines. The uh the first nine that you played, lots of birdies, lots of good golf. Second, a little bit more mixed, but still some very good golf in there. Yeah. No, I uh I was telling my caddyy Shane, I was like, I just had a massive brain fart here on five and I was like, what just happened? Like I was on a roll and then I’m just like fighting for my life here. But um I’m really pleased with the day. I feel that I’ve I’ve worked hard over the last few days. My coach Hollms is here and we’ve worked really hard and I’ve kind of pushed myself in situations maybe I wouldn’t put myself in before like hitting driver off nine kind of putting it a little closer to the green shots that I normally not comfortable with. I’m just trying to like challenge my game a little bit. Um both for both for the future and for playing well this week. So um really pleased with the day overall. Hit the driver really nicely. It hits a lot of really nice iron shots and um I to be honest I didn’t hold many putts cuz the birdies I made were quite close but um it was nice. It was a good day.
The Eagles were close as well. That shot in at four was spectacular. Dog ran into the green afterwards. It was uh it was a really great shot. So all the more surprising that you went on to do that at five.
Yeah. No, I was kind of surprised myself over five unfortunately. No, I had a lovely shot into um into four and I kind of had this little uphill lie and it was it was kind of shot that I have struggled a little bit with like so I also then proceeded to shank it on five after I’ve had made a bit of a mess. But like I I struggled sometimes with a little downhill eyeball below the feet and when the ball gets uphill. So very pleased that I pulled off such a lovely shot. And I mean being that close is just a bonus. But um anytime you kind of pull off the shot that you’re planning and that you’re intending to, it’s it’s always a win. According to my sources, you have an Irish Caddy on the bag this week and this is your first time to Ireland. Is that right?
Yeah, I normally try to avoid coming here so I can avoid him. No, I’m kidding. It’s um I I’ve I mean to be honest, we we travel so much for for work and it’s uh it’s kind of hard to do everything. So, I’m really happy to be here this week. It’s uh I’ve heard a lot of good things about this tournament and I have experienced it now myself. So, it’s uh it’s really nice to be here. I’ve always loved the Irish fans there. They know golf and they know when to clap and know when to not clap. So, it’s it’s lovely lovely to be here. Good start. Well done.
Thank you. Appreciate it. Thanks.
Yeah. Talking about Shane Cod there, her caddy who’s from Wexford, not far from here.
Yeah. And his wife Rebecca Cod. She used to play on the ladies European tour. So I’m sure she’ll be out bringing the kids supporting Meline. Those two are a good pair. We should get them miked up.
And we should remember she’s won this year on the LPGA tour. So always was going to be a danger coming into this week. Absolutely. She’s one of my favorite players to watch a swing, a ball flight. She won the match play. So, always good signs for the Soulheim Cup
and playing alongside Kiara Tambellini who will be very much part of our our coverage tomorrow. So, it’s going to be an exciting watch just to, you know, watch those two amongst the others.
They’ll be hitting it far, talking a lot, and hopefully making a bunch of birdies. Yeah, as you can see, a lot of scores in the 60s, the likes of Selena Aban and Cecile Finson haven’t yet quite completed their opening round. Amelia Garvey around a 69 had a second third place finish in the last three weeks last week in Germany. There’s Georgia Hall. Lorna Klyimman, another of the Curtis Cup stars from last year who settled in nicely. The Scott on the less former champion Smelia Sonibu a round of 71 from Smeila and a Foster got it to five under parath three late bogeies from her for a round of 71 ona Donigan. Looking forward to watching her play tomorrow alongside Leona Maguire as well. They’ll have big crowds following them to Irish in that three ball. But, you know, it’s lived up to its billing already, hasn’t it? Day one. It’s a way of working into the week, but it’s got a big week feel about it. This KPMG Women’s Irish Open.
It has. The setup, the driving race, the course condition. I’d encourage everybody to come down and watch the tented village and look at the look at the players. I mean, so many players under par. And I think that’s what I’ve kind of learned from this event that the likes of, you know, Blanca Fernandez at the top of the leaderboard. You’re going to feel it. You’re going to feel it early. She’s going to feel Friday, never mind at the weekend. And we see Leona Maguire there at one underpar. She’ll be out in our coverage tomorrow afternoon. Yeah. Looking around that cut line, maybe it might fall around level par as it did last year. So all these players at the moment the right side of things, Anna Abomb, the amateur who made the cut last year, her and the only Magguire the only Irish players, but you can see there was a good Irish contingent the right side of the cut line. Just running you through some of the scores here. Still players out on the course like Talia Martin who played some nice golf last week in Germany. Won a couple of times this year. One on the Axis series and also won in South Africa on the Sunshine Ladies Tour. So our cup captain Anna Norquish, she’s over plus two for her day today. Well, a new slot on the KPMG Women’s Irish Open. We’ve moved from late August to early July and great field and they have delivered for us over at Carton House Fairmont in the province of Lster. Been a breezy day, but it hasn’t stopped the birdies from falling. Blanka Fernandez and Kiara Tambellini setting the pace. We’ll see you again tomorrow. Bye-bye. Heat. Hey, Heat.
