Golfweek released its annual list of 100 best public golf courses on Monday, June 30, and the state of Michigan is well represented.
Just as it was in 2024, Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California, was named the No. 1 public golf course in the country. That was followed by Pacific Dunes at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon, and Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Those three courses mirrored the top three of Golfweek’s 2024 list.
As for the Michigan courses, the list features the same six it did from the previous year in the same order, though all are placed at a lower spot on the overall list.
Here are the six Michigan public golf courses that made the top-100:
Arcadia Bluffs (Bluffs), Arcadia (No. 32)
Numerous sand dunes and deep bunkers protect the approach to the par-5 fifth hole, which features a biarritz green (a deep gully bisecting its middle) at Arcadia Bluffs Golf Club along Lake Michigan in Arcadia. The course opened in 1999, designed by Warren Henderson and Rick Smith.
Arcadia Bluffs ranked No. 31 in the 2024 list and fell just one spot on the 2025 list.
Average rating: 7.17.
Location: Arcadia.
Marquette Golf Club (Greywalls), Marquette (No. 46)
Greywalls at Marquette Golf Club fell six spots, down from No. 40 on the 2024 list.
Average rating: 6.94.

Forest Dunes (The Loop Red & Black), Roscommon (No. 50)
Early morning fog envelopes The Loop at the par-3 6th green of The Red Course/par-4 12th green of The Black Course at Tom Doak’s reversible design at Forest Dunes in Roscommon.
Smack-dab in the middle of the list is The Loop Red & Black at Forest Dunes, down three spots from its No. 47 ranking in 2024.
Average rating: 6.91.
Location: Roscommon.
Forest Dunes (Weiskopf), Roscommon (No. 78)
Speaking of Forest Dunes, its Weiskopf course dropped 10 spots from the 2024 list.
Average rating: 6.65.

Belvedere, Charlevoix (No. 99)
A look from the back of the green at Hole 16, a short par-4 with a treacherous green complex, at Belvedere Golf Club in Charlevoix.
