PGA Tour standout Harry Hall capped off a whirlwind week with a career milestone, securing a spot in his first ever Open Championship after a composed and classy showing at final qualifying at Burnham and Barrow. Fresh off a T13 finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit just days earlier. The 27-year-old Englishman flew straight to the UK with little time to rest or prepare. But Hall, who has become a consistent name on the PGA Tour since capturing his maiden title at the 2023 ISCO Championship, thrived under pressure. Despite the tight turnaround, Hall delivered back-to-back 400par 67s on Tuesday in the 36-hole qualifier. A performance that earned him a share of second place and one of five coveted invitations to the Open at Royal Portrait, which begins July 17th in Northern Ireland. I played the Rocket Mortgage last week, flew into Heathrow yesterday. Morning. Came here and walked a couple of holes, hit a few balls, and then went and played. Hall told Mirror Sports US, “I’m super happy with the result. I had a great feeling about qualifying, and I did it.” Hall’s opening round featured seven birdies and an eagle, putting him in prime position heading into the second round. He showed poise on the closing stretch with a bogey-free threeunderback nine, securing his place in the field for golf’s oldest major. Currently ranked world number 73, Hall has already made waves this season with four top 10 finishes in 19 starts, including an impressive T19 finish at the PGA Championship in May. Now he’s skipping the upcoming John Deere Classic to focus on Link’s preparation at next week’s Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club as he gears up for his Open debut. It’s massive to qualify. I think it would be even bigger if it was on a course I knew in England, but Ireland isn’t far away. He said, “Portrish is a great spot and I’m sure the fans will be incredible. I’m super excited to play. I turned up today and playing Burnham. I was feeling so comfortable on the golf course. I think my game is in a really good spot and hopefully I can play well at the Scottish Open next week and Portish as well. Hall finished one shot behind medalist Justin Walters at Burnham and Barrow. The other qualifiers to earn open spots from this venue were Jacob Scov Olison Fraser Jones and OJ Frell who join Hall in heading to Royal Portrush to chase the cleric jug.
