Jacob Bridgeman after day 3 Valspar Championship
all right Jacob um co-leader into Sunday is it more fun or more stressful as you navigate the course out there oh it’s fun i I had a lot of fun today i I was navigating a lot of the course um I seem to find some spots that um I’d never seen before so that was fun i I scrambled well but How did the um course did it get trickier as the afternoon progressed scoring wise it seemed like it was slowing down and people were moving more backwards right uh the wind was just swirling i think with started the day we were at northwest and then it went more towards west so it was kind of tough to to trust that it was northwest and that it might be moving to west there was just some uncertainty there I think is what maybe created the the mistakes late for a lot of guys and then the greens were getting a little bit crusty but um yeah other than that it was just about the same your strokes game putting stats are incredible this week do you feel that do you feel like you’re putting awesome yeah I feel very comfortable when I get around the hole um I’m reading the ball i’m reading the greens well i’m I’m hitting my putts where I’m looking i struggled a little bit late with the speed kind of with the with the shadows um coming down over the green but yeah I I feel very comfortable over the ball i was I remember a couple years ago we talked about how like in college you enjoyed talking to your teammates about putting and kind of leading some why is does that date back to childhood and why do you think it is that putting is something you’ve just always kind of taken to yeah I don’t know i I guess it’s the it’s the part of the game where you get the ball in the hole it’s the great equalizer if you’re hitting it terrible like I did today you can still putt good and and put up a good number um so I guess I’ve liked that side it can get you out of trouble and I kind of grew up hitting it crooked and having to get out of trouble so I like that and then I’m just curious on how other people um read greens read putts hit their putts imagine all that kind of stuff i’ I’ve always been curious with that so I’m trying to learn as best I can from you know everybody is there anyone out here you’ve like picked their brain on putting at all any other tour pros um I’ve a lot of the guys that I know well um like I play at home with like Ben Martin and Carson Young we talk a lot about putting and um I stay with this week I’m staying with Chris Gdder up Cumins and Chandler Phillips chandler and I are playing Zurich together again and we kind of read putts the same way we’ve talked about it we see um we don’t use a line or anything we we kind of envision the ball rolling towards the hole and we kind of pick out a couple points that we’re trying to roll it over um and I I don’t haven’t talked to Speed about it but I think he does the same thing or at least he finds a high point and rolls it over that so yeah love it is there any selft talk caddyy conversation anything as you made that turn because you went on a run right after that yeah no um I was just head down and grinding the best I could i wasn’t hitting it great i wasn’t flustered i wasn’t really freaking out but um I knew if I could just get the ball on the fair I’d be fine i made birdie on one and my caddy kind of slapped me in the butt and said “Let’s go.” Um and then I kept it up so other than that no it was just trying to keep doing the same thing and um you’ll be in the final group tomorrow um what I guess what is that obviously 18 hopes to go but what does that mean to you and what past experiences do you think you’ll lean on as you get ready to enter that limelight yeah past experience I don’t know i haven’t haven’t done that before but I won a lot in college so maybe I’ll look back on that and um some of the ways that coach Bird and Coach Penley would walk with me and kind of talk me through that when I was trying to win for the first couple times but um as experiences go this is going to be a cool one never done it never really been in I don’t know if I’ve ever been in the final group at all so to do it back toback days will be fun um I look forward to the challenge what’s your favorite win of your life so far um ACC championship my senior year i won that in a playoff that one was pretty cool where was that it was in Panama City I think florida Sharks Tooth course nice florida State was hosting okay and then do you think like kind of as you go tonight and tomorrow what’s your routine going to be in ter is there anything you want to hone in on or get super specific with or is it going to be I guess your normal routine it’s going to be a normal thing i think um three of the four guys are still at the house i’m going to hang out with them probably watch some basketball after I go hit some balls i need to figure out a couple things but yeah it’s just going to be the same thing relax and then sleep in in the morning try to take it easy easy as I can cool thanks Jake appreciate you
