Taxpayers will reportedly be footing a staggering $600,000 bill for Secret Service agents to be able to use golf carts and portable toilets at Donald Trump’s private country club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The Secret Service signed a pair of contracts with Associates Golf Car Service of Poughkeepsie, New York, and Restroom Resources LLC of Wrightstown, New Jersey, on June 3, according to federal records reviewed by The Independent. The first contract is for “Golf Car Rental and Transportation Services,” and is worth a potential $550,930, the outlet reports.

The agreement has reportedly been put in place until June 2, 2026. Meanwhile, the contract with Restroom Resources is for “portable restroom rentals and services” and worth up to $80,385. It is set to run through May 31, 2026. It comes as Trump’s New Jersey golf course is slammed with 18 food violations and ‘lowest in US’ rating.

The latter contract also comes with a three-year renewal option for another fee of $333,801.

Secret Service agents usually ride in golf carts several holes ahead of Trump during his regular golf games in order to protect the president. Agents were rumored to be banned from using the restrooms at the sprawling Washington DC mansion Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner rented during the first Trump administration.

However, a Secret Service spokesperson has insisted this is not the case at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, which charges a $125,000 initiation fee, The Wall Street Journal reports. Instead, they claimed that the portable toilets are merely for the convenience of agents on the property.

“The U.S. Secret Service has contracts in place for portable restrooms and golf cart rentals to support protective operations in Bedminster, New Jersey,” the spokesperson told The Independent in an email on Monday. They added: “The golf carts are used by personnel to move around club property.

“Secret Service personnel have access to restrooms in club facilities; however, additional restrooms are needed to support the number of personnel onsite. These rentals also allow for restroom access in additional locations on club property and when club facilities are closed such as after business hours.”

Back in 2019, the Secret Service allocated a $95,250 to rent golf carts for Bedminster from Associates Golf Car Service over a six-month period. It’s so far unclear whether the new $550,930 budget is for a larger fleet of golf carts or if the prices have more than doubled since.

According to Associates Golf Car Service’s website, rental fees for their golf carts range from $1,000 to $1,400 a month. The $550,930 budget works out at $45,910 a month.

This suggests that if the Secret Service were renting the highest-price six-passenger golf cart, they would be renting at least 32 of them each month, which could seat 192 Secret Service agents. Restroom Resources’ website does not detail their pricing but says they aim to “provide the most luxurious portable restroom experience, ensuring comfort, sophistication, and convenience at every event.
