the Pittsburgh Steelers off season of change continues now of course earlier this month they signed Aaron Rodgers he’s now the starting quarterback who knows what you’re going to get out of an offense after trading away George Pickins which came after acquiring DK Metaf so a new look offense but today the Pittsburgh Steelers ship Mika Fitzpatrick to the Miami Dolphins for Jaylen Ramsay in a move that raises some question marks because had you been able to pair Fitzpatrick with Jaylen Ramsay with Joey Porter Jr with Darius Slay you would inarguably have one of the top two secondaries in the NFL but when you look at what this defense is going to look like moving forward of course they have an allp pro and TJ Watt they have an allp pro in Cam Hayward up front how the pieces fit on the back end of the secondary is going to be really compelling because I spoke to some people inside the NFL over the last couple of weeks who suggested at this stage of his career Jaylen Ramsay profiles more as a safety than he does as a cornerback so who knows what the Steelers see in Jaylen Ramsay at safety at this stage of his career it’s obviously something that they believe is an upgrade over what they were getting out of Ma Fitzpatrick the last couple of years pro Football Focus list Jaylen Ramsey as the number 11 ranked corner last year in the NFL ma Fitzpatrick the number 44 ranked safety in the NFL so if Ramsay in fact makes the transition to safety and it’s a smooth one then all of a sudden this defense is going to be even more difficult on opposing offenses even more difficult on opposing quarterbacks in a gauntlet in the AFC that includes the likes of Patrick Mahomes Lamar Jackson Josh Allen Joe Burrow and on and on and on the Steelers they’ve always won with defense and they’re all in this year on trying to upgrade that group going into 2025
