come on come on holy moly i think that’s the fastest I’ve ever swung a golf club all right golfers so today I’m going to be showing you a fun and effective way to train your club head speed hit the ball further and get some real real results guys thanks for joining me today my name is Danny Malcin we’re here at the Perth Golf Center studio we’ve got Trackmen to be able to see some club speed numbers let’s dive right in so the fun game is called the three strike drill now before you do this just be sure that you’re warmed up so I’ve already had a little warm-up session i’ve used my massage gun here on my old hips and shoulders and got myself plenty warmed up so make sure you do that first and then before you do any speed training ensure your body is ready for it ensure you’ve you know you prepped your body you don’t go getting injured or anything crazy like that so there’s a little disclaimer before we start i’ve never really done speed training in all my professional career i’ve been a PJ professional since I was 20 I think 19 20 i’m now 40 and so this is really the first time I’m going to train it properly and really try and give it some few injuries in the last few years so my speed’s definitely slowed down so be interested to see where we go today all right the first thing step one is to get your cruising baseline speed so your playing speed when when you’re out on a golf course as you saw there at the start of the video 105 I know is typically my cruising speed at the moment so I’m just going to hit a couple more shots and just see what the averages are of that and then we’re just going to make a note of that first speed so here we are shot number two 103.5 105 so those three numbers there as you’ll see on the top left of the screen 105 103 105 so we’ll split the difference there and we’ll say let’s say 105 because I know that’s pretty much my speed so what what you want to do there guys once you’ve got your baseline your cruising speed there grab a piece of paper and we’ll note down your before speed which here is we’ll just go 105 miles per hour all right so there’s the baseline now step two the game begins now we start stepping things up now guys when you start to train speed you want to have very little disregard for where the ball’s going really we just need to make contact this is just going all out it’s speed training it’s not trying to find find a fairway it’s just trying to hit it hard so I’m just going to step things up a little bit now and see if we can just get it above the 105 marker so there we go we’re at 109 already now the game is the three strike drill you’ve got to get above now 109.1 or the same and you keep going if I get below 109.1 miles an hour then that’s one strike and I’ve got three strikes then I’m out so the rule is rest and reit so 60 seconds rest between each shot and then we go again that allows your nervous system just time to reset and recover all right guys shot number two recovered there got to be 109 all out and again no regard for where this thing goes 10 10.6 another 60c rest and we go again all right guys shot number three 110.6 to beat 111.6 no strikes yet come on 111.6 to beat 112 112.9 come on 112.9 mph to beat here 114.7 haven’t gone after it like this for a long while so really intrigued to see where this can be 114.7 m now to beat three strikes left beat it by 0.1 i’ll take that 114.8 speed go then you get that arm speed going up come on arm chop power come on yes 115.6 six even though I’m going all out here I still think I’m leaving a little bit on the table a little bit concerned about where it’s going i’m going to forget where this is going here and just really go crazy come on let’s start to crank this up where this goes doesn’t matter we’re just training speed Danny just just got to make contact all right i’m way pushing a bit more come on fire this thing on 15.6 to beat oh yes all right that’s one strike i was 0.1 off there 0.1 okay going to take my 60C rest a couple of years ago prior to my hip injury I used to be 160 mph here so we’re not looking purposely here at ball speed that’s for another time when we’re testing that we’re going to look purely at club speed just get moving the club quicker here all right 115.6 to beat now come on two strikes left come on Danny you got this forget where this goes just hit it hit it hard come on come on 116.5 who cares if that slice 50 yards right this is it get the get pumped up feel like Bryson there feel like Bryson come on 116.5 i’ve been doing a bit of fitness training guys a new fitness program over the last 3 months and some work on injuries prior to that i’m actually feeling good here with the body so yeah just be sure that you get your body right before you start doing this i’ve personally not done speed training i might actually start to do some over speed training if this is feeling good later today might start doing that over the next few weeks and forward this is quite exciting all right come on 116.5 to beat two strikes left come on hit it hit it hard come on have it 116.5 to beat oh gee man that was straight one strike left guys one strike left that was point 2 off oh man I feel like I’ve got more in the tank here i feel like my body can do more i just don’t think it knows how to move quick here that’s where some over speed training might come in i’ve never ever ever used speed sticks ever in my life i’ve had clients use them and get some really good results and man I feel like my body can handle more than that i feel like it can so that’s where obviously that training will need to come in i feel like I could get more than that body’s feeling good but it just doesn’t want to move quick there you go all right come on 116.5 to beat come on come on you got this forget where this goes yes get in there 117.8 come on not swinging that fast for a long long time i don’t think ever it’s quite exciting to think what’s potential here if I do do a bit of speed training here okay guys one strike left i need to get above 117.8 getting really into this here come on come on feel like a Olympian when they’re trying to do a high jump or something or a long jump trying to beat the the last score all right 17.8 come on everything you got jump out your skin come on come on yes 118.7 holy moly i think that’s the fastest I’ve ever swung a golf club adrenaline all right 118.7 to beat this is massive this is huge for me here come on everything you got Danny forget where this goes doesn’t matter just smack it come on 118.5 point 2 off the last one that’s huge that’s huge so guys from that first one 10 5 mph distance that’s like a 25 that’s a 40 plus yard increase that’s a 40 plus yard increase massive body feels good man the hips some modifications I’ve made feels good there all right guys so that was step three getting into the speed game i can barely see the camera all right so step four now is to test your new baseline test your new baseline so that was my cruising speed at 105 now I’m just going to feel what I feel is a comfortable playing speed hit a shot and just see what numbers come up here from a club speed perspective so let’s just cruise one down there that felt pretty cruisy oh wow 111 that didn’t feel like much effort wow 112 okay big jump that didn’t feel like much more effort at all from prior so guys what I do then that’s a big jump of seven miles an hour so then the cruising speed after that training 122 miles hour that’s a plus seven miles per hour gain in one training session so guys there you go the three strike drill for club speed give it a go give it a go that is the first time I’ve really done that properly so maybe like with the gym gains you might see some initial gains early that’s that’s a lot i don’t
