all right guys mr short hitter here
you don’t look like a short hitter to me today I got my man Paul out we’re going to do a little what’s in the bag you guys know I’ve been playing Well I’ve been playing with Paul way before this channel how long have we been playing together for
52 hours so 18 years
18 years so 18 years in any event we’re going to do a little what’s in the bag so we’re going to start out with the ball so what kind of ball are you playing now Paul
i’m playing the uh the Callaway Warbird i’ve been playing it now probably a good seven eight years it’s just a good average ball it doesn’t spin a lot i don’t need a lot of spin it helps me keep it a little bit straighter in the fairway i might lose a little on distance but it doesn’t spin as much and it’s been a good overall ball i’ve also been using the vice distance it’s similar performance to this ball so kind of interchanging but pretty much just sticking with the this one i know the ball the ball knows me
there you go there you go okay so let’s go your putter
putter it’s interesting story this is a Ping B60 now these have been around quite a long time as a matter of fact I got this at a thrift store for $35 about 10 years ago
okay
and uh it’s been in the bag ever since i just put a soft stroke i like the thicker grip little flat sole grip on there but this came out of a thrift store a ping putter it looks good it sets good and it’s been in the bag good 10 years now
okay i have quite a few putters ping putters Odyssey putters that I’ve picked up at thrift stores so you guys let me know in the comments if you want to see that cuz I’ve got at least 10 putters that I’ve picked up anytime if I go in a thrift store and I see a Odyssey or a Ping or anything like that I have to pick it up especially at $3 right
right
so the wedge or wedges
well uh the standard wedge I’m using is from the set it’s just a a tailor made burner i think these were probably about 15 years ago and it’s the match set about 10 years ago or so I went to graphite just because I’m getting older the swing speed isn’t as good and so the next progression was into a a graphite shaft 65 g regular flex that’s all through the bag right now
okay so you got the tailor-made burners and you have those in what pitch and wedge through five it looks like
right pitching wedge through five i used to have a four iron in there but decided that it’s better just to hit the hybrids from now on
so the only wedge you have besides the set the pitching wedge set is this 56°
yeah i mean I I’m pretty much old school that way i don’t hit it far enough to carry four or five wedges these two get it done this is a ray cook it’s called a blue goose nice sand wedge 56 degree i like it because it’s uh you kind of just get kind of steep with it it’ll pop it up every time the thing at this point in my life is just get it out of the sand trap so this this club will do it
and I get lucky once in a while and get some up and downs but I’m pretty confident just getting it out of the bunker with with this club
okay so you use that mainly out of the bunker because one thing about Paul that I noticed in the 18 years that we’ve been playing
is around the greens chipping you’re normally chipping with like a nine iron or a pitching wedge
paul doesn’t chip with a gap wedge or a or a sand wedge really almost never
i might take a sand wedge if it’s really bad thick rough and the ball’s buried and I have to play an explosion like a bunker shot
right okay now hybrids well hybrids uh kind of the same way but there’s still another club that probably goes back 15 years they’re called Cleveland Halo i I carry an 18 a 22 and a 25 it’s still got their original their high angle off they’ll call Halo shaft 65 g again okay regular regular flex all right
regular flex and I just like the way the club looks when I set it down i got confidence with it and actually I don’t even carry a 3-wood in the bag anymore i use the 18° hit it about as far as I used to hit the 3-wood okay okay
with more confidence so that’s that’s a really big thing it looks good give you some confidence when you swing it
that’s that’s important thing
so those are all three the same
all three the same right all halo
uh all my grips are midsize they say it’s a little bit better as you get older you get a little arthritis in your hands get a little stiffer go to a little bit thicker grip so then after your hybrids you got a driver what’s that
right the driver is a Callaway also this is the uh the XR Speed what I like about it is it just sets real good i’ve had real good control with this driver i feel confident with it like what I one thing I did do with my with my drivers is I shortened them up i I chopped an inch off off my drivers
okay
and that’s only because my swing has gotten shorter and it’s probably more of a 3-wood length than the 43 so it’s probably somewhere in the 42 and a half range what for my arm length for my swing when I did that a few years back made a big difference
a hazardous it looks like a hazardous shaft
hazardous shaft right once again uh same way uh
I’ve got that shaft in some clothes
55 g
okay
uh so you know it’s all about feel once again the grip is the midsize like the wraps i’m not much into the uh cord grips and things like that i like my wrap and that’s what I’ve had my whole life so why change now it’s
a lot of feel going on well guys there you have it thanks Paul appreciate you coming out and showing everybody the what’s in the bag and I think we’ll have to get out there and play a few holes now since you’re all the way out here and uh I appreciate it and I hope you guys enjoyed the video uh leave any comments questions down in the comments section till next time Mr short hitter out just play 13

Intresting! makes me think about some of my buyings! just wanting a new club and it was not the clubs fault!
Excellent… my buddies won’t show me what’s in their bag and they aren’t curious about my bag! But I liked this segment . Btw video Jeff, Paul and Tom commenting on you being a short hitter 😂
Really enjoyed this one but I'm "Paul" biased. He's just a great human being. Very cool to see his lineup. Most interesting was how he's played the same ball for the last 7 years. Gosh, I am always playing different balls.Nice as well to see that him and I play the same putter, but he payed WAY less for it than me…..LOL! Thanks for this one MSH
Cool! Nice setup.
Not sure why, but I love what's in the bag videos.
Nice vid. I would like to see your putter collection. 🙂
How do you and Paul find good stuff at thrift stores? Whenever I go in, the only putters that they have are beat-up Bullseye clones from 1958! Cheers!
If he knows how each club works for him, with good results….why change?
Come on Paul say "Da Bears"
Lol I had those irons and still have that putter. 1 of probably 15. But to your point of what works. All the sets of clubs I’ve purchased still come last against someone like my brother who would still be playing his ping eye irons and the first Taylormade steel head driver if I didn’t give him a set of Titleist T300’s . Sometimes it really is the swing and not the clubs. Keep hitting ‘em Paul !!
Great video! Right to the point, and that was more interesting than I expected seeing what he's playing. Great that he plays so well with clubs that he's had and loved for years. I normally don't watch many what's in the bag videos, but enjoyed it!!
Love me some thrift store putters.
Driver, 3 hybrids,5-P, 56 Putter.—-12 clubs is enough for Paul and many of us could do with fewer. My bag is similar, but I went back to lightweight steel shafts and get more consistency than my old Adams graphites.
Great comradery between you fellas. I was at the driving range earlier this evening and on the way home I decided to give myself a golf nickname. Henceforth, please call me Mr. Anemic. I have no irons in my bag. It's the ultimate "old man's bag" – got the idea after watching Boom-Boom Freddy Couples. I tried it and I liked it. The bag is a lot lighter and that's important for this 73-year-old. Paul, I think I'm going to try changing the shafts on my wedges (I carry 4 of them ).
MSH, I too have picked up some bargains and a few "what was I thinking when I bought that?" clubs at the thrifts and garage sales. The best example of the latter is a 68 degree wedge. As a lefty, the pickings are slim most of the time.
I can't close without giving you guys a virtual cigar as there's going to be a new addition to my family any day. I may be an old codger but there's still teeth left in this saw. Yes, it's true, I'm expecting the arrival of a new 9 wood any day now.
Gotcha!
Mr. Anemic
Show us the thrift store finds!
Just curious, what hcp does Paul play to?
I have the halo 19 Deg hybrid. Love it
Great to see, golfers who are relatable, TKS👍
perfect! thanks for sharing!
Several years ago i went to jumbo grips because of arthritis.. love them…
Didn't realize how similar Paul's bag is to mine. Old Ping putter, 56' wedge only, old irons (pw thru 4), 4 hybrid, 5 w,3 w, driver. Yes I am old school also. Thanks. "Hit'em straight "
I agree 100 percent, all my clubs are thrift store finds –
Titleist 983 k – 11.5 degree
Billy club 7 wood
Titlesit 822 OS – 7 iron
Cleveland rtx – 56 degree sw
791 putter ( ping knockoff)
In search of 22 or 25 degree hybrid and a Sunday golf bag, I will be good
66 years old and relearning the game ,
It could require more planning than its worth, but to answer the question you posed, I think a "thrift store clubs in the bag" episode could be interesting. Related anecdote: a few years ago, after watching a MSH video (I think…) that related to the 7-wood, I decided it was worth considering. However I didn't want to buy one without hitting at least some sort of 7-wood first, so I asked my dad if he had one in his fairly extensive garage bin-o-clubs. He had one that he paid $5 for at Goodwill a few years back. "Sun Valley TM-36". As far as I can tell, it's a knockoff of a Taylormade 300 series. It's all beat up and looks like a $5 club, but all I wanted was something to test the concept with. Turned out to be a "can't miss" club, so there's no need to shop for a newer one, right?!?. It's hiding under a generic fairway wood cover 😉 , but it's still in my bag.
I LOVE seeing WITB from guys my age! Please do a thrift shop putter video. I have a putter addiction that I'm trying to get over. But I still love seeing the deals that people find on clubs in thrift shops.
I Love Thrift Store Golf Clubs
Great video! A wonderful little set up that doesn’t focus on the latest greatest brand new stuff. That’s how it should be. I also find it interesting that you go straight from the hybrids into a driver. A lot of us can’t hit those fairway woods anymore. Great stuff! 👍👍👍
This would be a great series with more people
