Here’s Grip Stud’s web site on using Grip Stud #1000 in running shoes:

Marrkey Studs are a much much cheaper alternative I found:

Check out my latest video on the Marrkey Studs here:

I can’t tell a difference between them and Grip Studs 1000 Fat Bike Tire Studs for All Seasons, Ice & Snow for secure footing on icy surfaces which can be purchased here for nearly twice the price:

These should work way better for running on pavement this winter.

In the past, I have used Kold Kutter #8 Screws:

They are a bit long but do offer incredible grip and as long as you’re careful not to located them where they’ll stick in your foot or create pressure points. They are an alternative. Probably better for deeper hard packed trails.

I have also used Kahtoola MICROspikes:

They are best in heavier packed snow/ice conditions, would be horrible on pavement.

I also have used something that looks identical to STREAMtrekkers Traction Cleats:

and was quite happy with them.

And lastly, I’ve used YakTrax:

Even with the top strap, I find these fall off more than the other slip on devices.

Something I just found are Frogg Toggs Hard-Case Boot Studs:

They’re pretty cheap and look similar to the Kold Kutter #8’s. Haven’t tried them but might.
