I’m looking at the summer ross golf package and it says $1600 per person plus $280 for no. 2, but i recently seen someone comment somewhere that no. 2 alone costs $700 after caddy and gratuity. Can anyone tell me if i’m gonna get hit for a lot more than just $1600+$280 before i pay for this trip?

  1. Upfront costs is what is listed. Caddie and tips are extra

It is my understanding that the double occupancy $1659 would include 4 rounds of golf with the lodging at 2 people per room. If you want one of those rounds to be No. 2 then you will play the $250 upcharge. If you are playing an additional round to those 4 original rounds, then you get the $280 upcharge and will be playing 5 rounds total.

It definitely saves some money on the rounds if you are staying on property.

I haven’t been personally but I was pricing out a trip last summer.

That price listed is the total price or price per night?

Don’t forget resort fees which are about 20%. That said, there really aren’t any hidden costs outside of paying/tipping a caddie

So 2000 for three nights, 4 rounds( probably closer to 2600 with caddies and tips). Enjoy the sport, but never going to like it enough to spend this much when you can get a flight and accomodations for a week in paris for a good bit less

I just booked a pinehurst trip and the secret is to play as much golf as possible on the unlimited play plan to make it worth it. 2 and 10 are included in there and we’re doing a 2 night stay, playing 6 rounds over those 2 night stays. 2310 total

  7. Doesn’t look that bad for a Pinehurst type course. 4 rounds, accommodation, breakfast and dinner? Went to Arizona for a buddies bachelor trip a couple years ago and there were courses out there charging $400+ alone for a round

I went earlier in the spring and played 2, 4, and 10. Also played the Cradle. Ate lunch / dinner on our own outside any package. Stayed at Carolina. We had a suite with like a living room and two queen beds. I rented clubs because i was busy at work and couldn’t get back to get my clubs the week I went. Bought a lot of t shirts and shit. Feel like with airfare it was around $10,000 or $11,000 for the two of us all in with tips, caddies, everything.

That’s actually not a bad deal, many top tier troon courses are ~$400 a round. Bfast, hotel, and dinner included!? What is the catch… are manhattans $30 a pop!?

  10. I paid mid $2,000s and thought the value was well worth it. Everything pre planned and taken care of. The coolest part is how you can choose any restaurant to dine at and the meal is taken care of. Aside from tips, booze, and merch it was freeing to know everything had already been decided on pre trip.

Not to mention the golf memories I’ll cherish forever at a world renowned property.

Did you miss the 17% taxes and fees?

You’re actually starting at $2K. Caddie is usually around $100, plus another $100 tip.

So, to play #2 one time, with a caddie, you’re looking at around $2500.

$2k per player to play in the hellish heat we get in NC in late June? No thanks.

  13. 1, 3 and 5 skip. They shouldn’t even be called pinehurst courses.
If you have not played #2 go ahead and splurge but you will enjoy 4, 8, 9 and 10 more.

I’ve been to pinehurst in June and July. It is very hot and humid there then so be prepared. The ideal time is either spring or fall. I went again in early November a couple years ago and it was lovely.

  15. VintageClassics

17% service charge! Good gawd. Not used to this as an Australian (yet!)

  16. hnglmkrnglbrry

I went first week of November a few years ago and 4 rounds including No. 2 was $1,500 for winter rates. Absolute steal. Weather was 70 and sunny and the Bermuda was still bright green.

We go pretty much every year. Stay at the Holly or Carolina. This year we stayed four nights and played eight rounds. All in cost for stay and golf (without caddies) was about $3,600.

  18. Time_Needleworker869

The caddy is $80 a bag plus tip. If you play 2 twice, the second round is $595 + tax. I just went in May feel free to DM me.

I’ve played resorts including Pinehurst. One problem I’ve found is the constant upsell to get you to spend more money.

For a great experience I recommend pulling whatever strings you have to get on a classic private course. Then play 3-4 other courses in the area. You’re with friends, having a great time and will always have the memory of that one famous course.

This is not bad imo. Use them Delta SkyMiles to get that plane ticket boys!

  21. Grizzly_Addams

Or, you could be like Dechambeau and get paid $4.3 mil to play #2 four days in a row.

  22. teamaa104

Looking at my folio from 2 weeks ago from the same package with 2, 10 added. Caddies on both of those. I was single occupancy and it totaled out to $3049.00

  23. Mobile_Spinach_1980

$2k for four rounds, lodging, food, is pretty good! I added $100 tip per round

  24. Sad_Cover2632

Pinehurst is great if you want to pay a fortune to play golf courses with almost no grass and maddening greens. I’d rather pay a fraction of the price to play something fun that’s in much better condition and doesn’t require caddies, which are antiquated and not a good value unless you’re filthy rich. This comment will aggravate a lot of people, and I don’t care.

Went last year and stayed at the manor. Played 6 rounds in 3 days. Spend about $2200 once it was all said and done.

Edit: didn’t have a caddie on any course and don’t really think it mattered. Most of the holes out there are relatively straight forward, it’s just a matter of execution.

  26. Pound for pound, it’s the cheapest high-end bucket course(s) golf trip you can take when all is said and done. We have done 8 trips to all the big name spots and PH on top of being the cheapest, was also our favorite all-around experience.

  27. Plan to spend like 2500 all in for 2, 4, X and X plus 2 rounds at Cradle.

  28. East-Message9402

Literally just got back from this exact trip and rates. I think after the drink or six per round that I like to enjoy and nightly beverages my total cost just on resort for stay and play was $2800 on my CC. Played 8, 10, 7, the cradle and 2 the last morning. On top of that I tipped $100 for each caddie on 2 and 10 plus flight and rental car for the week it ended up being around $4000 total trip. Extremely hot in June but I would definitely go back and plan to after a few other golf trips are crossed off the bucket list. It’s cheaper in June but if you can afford it I’d recommend April or October for better weather.

  29. jmc0027au

I just did this trip last weekend. Played 2,3,6,10 and the cradle in 3 days. All in cost with some room charges was $2300 plus $80 for caddies on 2 & 10.

Breakfast at the Carolina Inn was included and great. We also had dinner included at the brewery, tavern, and deuce. It was nice to not have to worry about spending any money once we got there other than lunch, caddies, and swag.

I stayed double occupancy at the Manor which was great too.

  30. MinuteScientist7254

There better be a complimentary hand job for that price

I’ll never understand this caddie culture at US courses. Easily the biggest load of shit there is in golf tourism.
