This Dart Chooses my Next Round of Golf

I’m going to throw a dart at a map of the United States and I’m going to play the nearest golf course to wherever it lands. The twist is I won’t know the final destination until I get there. If I could have drawn up what I wanted this experience to be, this is it.
All you ever see online are bucket list courses and private golf clubs. I want to see what the most random course in America is really like. This dart decides his fate. Are you ready, Keer?
Is it time? One time Keer and I were in Oregon and someone asked if he was my son. So that was
You ready, Pops? This dark could change my life forever.
He might not even come back from wherever he’s going.
Hey, do you guys want to watch Keer select his uh final destination? Next destination.
I’m actually This might be the most nervous I’ve ever been on camera.
I’ll tell you. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. All right, I’m going to spin you around here. Okay, I can go right here. There you go.
Right here.
Yeah.
Straight that way.
Yeah. Is it in like is it It’s not the ocean, is it?
It’s actually kind of a good spot.
I mean, is it in the United States?
Yes. Then we go, right? That’s fine. Yeah. I guess I guess we’re going. Oh,
he can’t know. He doesn’t know until he get
Oh, I was about to tell him. Oh, you don’t get to know.
I don’t get to know until I’m there.
I totally forgot that you won’t even know until you get there.
Right. We are at the airport. I have no idea where we’re going. Still, you might be wondering how I’m going to get to my destination without knowing where I’m going. And that’s where this tape and these glasses come into play. I will have to keep the headphones on just like on noise cancelling mode and blaring music. Yeah, this is giving nothing away. Let’s rock and roll. Imagine going to the airport without a destination in mind. I won’t lie, I’m starting to feel the nerves. Tell me when we’re getting close to the gate. Then I’ll throw the glasses on and then you’ve got to kind of have to leave me. I just keep my keep my head down. Are we getting close to the gate or can I keep Okay. [Music] Chicago. I recognize the Chicago airport, but our journey is far from over. We have a drive ahead of us.
We got that free upgrade.
All right. Well, we have 3 hours and 2 minutes left on our journey today. Basically, we got coordinates from Eric from where I threw the dart. Jojo put it into the navigation system and we are heading there. And the idea is that we are going to find the closest golf course to where we are and go straight there. They don’t know we’re coming. So, I don’t know. I just hope that they’re fine with us filming. I’m uh I’m excited. I’m excited for the unknown. First mission, our first little side quest, if you will, is to find a good place to eat. You know, we’re in the Midwest. Maybe some cheese curds.
Cheese curts.
Yeah.
Welcome to Clover. We make French for you. Welcome. Mustard, ketchup, pickles, onions. Standard standard stuff. It’s buttery. And these these are cheese curds. So, we are in a very rural area of Wisconsin. I honestly have no idea what part of the state we’re in. Whoa. Whoa. That came out of nowhere. Okay, so we’re going north. That’s on the east side. So, we’re East Wisconsin. We’re either on the thumb or on the left side of the thumb. Traveling by dark kind of is sick. Yeah, there it is right there. That’s the That’s it. Wa! Holy hell. Where did we end up? I think that car also threw a dart. All right, we’ve made it to Algoma, Wisconsin. And I am finally going to be able to pull up my map and see exactly where we are. I I don’t know why. I’m kind of nervous to like actually see where we are. [Laughter] Holy. We’re on the thumb. That’s crazy, dude. That’s great. I mean, like I I I almost got all the way to the tip top of this thing. What a cool place to land. I think I did great. So, we have three things that we need to do right off the bat. First, find the nearest golf course. Two, find somebody to play golf with. And three, find somewhere to sleep tonight. Al, I see no golf courses on the map. Alaskan Golf Club. So, Alaskan Golf Club is 5.2 miles away. Look at these guys. They’re having a great time. I’m excited, man. Dude, look at these photos. Hey, the people in Alaska have fun. I don’t think we’re going to have any problem finding someone to play with. So, we are one minute away from the golf course right now. I’m excited. I’m excited to meet these guys. I uh I don’t know how they’re going to react to us rolling in with cameras. Pepper from John
threw a dart at a map of the United States and landed here in Alaska, Wisconsin. So, crazy of all places. Yeah. Yeah. I’m Keer. It’s good to meet you.
Yeah, good to meet you. Where are you all from?
We’re from Texas. Austin, Texas. Austin, Texas. Yes, sir.
Welcome to Wisco. I want something to drink. Go-kart.
Sure. Yeah.
Don’t try to keep up with the locals.
Oh, I I I wouldn’t even I couldn’t I wouldn’t imagine. Well, so far so good. Everyone is very welcoming. Nobody’s upset about the cameras, and the nerves are finally starting to ease. Now I just need someone to play with.
Might as well try a 32 with Alaska.
Alaska tradition.
I’ll I’ll take what you recommend.
Have you already played around today?
We did. Yes.
You don’t want to go back out for another one.
I wish we could.
Okay.
His daughter has a baseball game in my You’ll play. Okay. Right on.
Barefoot, too.
Barefoot.
Oh, yeah. I’m grounded. One with Earth, you know.
Totally. Well, I’ll be barefoot as long as you’re barefoot.
All right. You’re going to brave that one?
I’ll give it a go, man. We’re We’re here to like experience local customs, you know. Okay. As far as tour guides, I I’m your huckleberry.
All right. That’s my son.
Hey, how’s it going? Good. Good to meet you.
Nice to meet you as well.
Beautiful thing they do here at Alaska is that uh it’s family run, but like they make all their members feel like family.
You can immediately tell it’s a pretty tight-knit group around here.
And a busy place. Very busy place. uh the Alaskan’s great. This is awesome. You want to You want to show us around? I mean, I I can if you like.
Yeah. Yeah. I’d love to check out the spot.
He’s more of a talk. I’m more of a behind the scenes kind of guy.
You seem like a on the camera kind of guy to me. Can you tell me what’s in this drink? The Alaskan.
The Alaskan is a uh mix of Sprite, cranberry, orange juice, and lemonade. It’s specialty out here. We’re a thirsty bunch. If you don’t know that about the Midwest and Kiwani specifically,
I’m slowly finding out. Yeah.
Can you tell me why this place is called Alaska?
I would love to tell you why. Um I have no idea. It’s just weekdays, nine holes, $17. 18 holes. Wow. This is a an affordable place. Yeah,
this place is an absolute vibe. This is Man, what a spot. These are some of the most welcoming people I’ve ever They’re so psyched. They’re so psyched that we’re here and doing this. I feel like that’s how they are with every new person that like comes onto the golf course. They’re just like, “We are so happy you’re here. Have a 32 oz drink.” I said it. Ied up.
Oh, you up so bad. Look. Look. I told you I play barefoot. Well, you don’t have to honor it, but I respect I’m going to honor it at least at least for a hole. I’m going to honor it.
You got a little just straight par4. You know the rules. No practice swings off the drive.
Wait, wait. No practice swings on the first te.
Well, no, that’s just my rule.
I know. I I love that. I’m I’m going to follow every rule you have. What a ball.
What a ball.
It looks a little straight down the middle. Might be slightly left, but I’m not going to complain. Maybe 207 y. So that would leave us 101 yards to the pin. First first golf shot in Alaska, Wisconsin. All right. That’s perfect.
Come back. That is money. Hey Jack, you need to put up a sign. No practice swings.
It’s called trusting your gut. And if people do that more often, they would have a better life. 103. Oh,
dude. You were two yards off of what you said. I can’t see it. Birdie put potential. Oh, that’ll play, Cody.
That’ll play, Code.
Oh, good. I love it. Get right. Get right. Get right.
Sit down.
Oh, no.
You guys might laugh at my putting style, but it’s Happy Gilmore. T. Yeah, that that is a good birdie putt right there.
People are too focused on certain things in life. Like be different or be yourself at the most. Like if I got to be a little whack, like I’ll be a little whack.
Oh, I like it. I like it.
Simmer. Simmer. Okay. I not mad at that at all. Boom.
Par save.
Par save. All right.
We love that. Great.
We can Hey, I like it. We can do a 345 here. Hopefully. Second bogey on this hole today.
So Jack has a birdie putt here. Barefoot. Oh no. Do you Do you always fight like that? Yeah. Nice. Okay. Should I try and adopt his putting style for the
You got to do everything Jack does.
Okay. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I love that. So what’s your what’s your personal best out here?
Probably like a 39.
39. Three over.
Yeah. Yeah. And how many times would you say that you’ve played this golf course?
Got to be close to a thousand, you know?
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Like just like
or just Well, it’s hard to say like flow rounds cuz sometimes you just jump around and play whatever you can and avoid the other golfers. But it might be a free golf ball right there. Prov. All right. Try and put this close. I’d love a birdie ear. Oh, that looks sit sit sit so hard. Sit. Oh my goodness.
Simmer down.
Holy moly.
Show me the the putting stance. How like like how you would putt this. Yeah. I just I don’t know. I I just bend a little bit to my right, I guess, so I’m opened up and I just feel like I’m But I’m looking at the ball the whole time. So then I’m not topping it. Then I tr just trust myself that leg.
Trust yourself. Okay.
And then just bam. Hey, not bad butt. Hell yeah.
Yes, sir. This year, I’m even even bar at that Alaskan golf club.
Your your family owns this place. Well, my grandparents own it. Uh my grandpa’s out here most of his time. My grandma used to weed and do some flower pots here all the time. But it’s just like growing up as a grandchild, you’re like you just hit the jackpot cuz it’s like with the family aspect of it, we know just like you just watch over it where you just want to do the best work. You feel proud of yourself. It is just an extended family. It’s just a place for them to let loose, be themselves, enjoy nature, enjoy golf, enjoy themselves.
Yeah.
Like you can’t beat that.
We’re playing a few holes with Jack right now and we’ll see the rest of the golf course tomorrow morning. [Music] I commented on his hat that I really liked his hat and apparently that there’s a limited supply, very few in the world that exist of these Alaskan assassin hats. And I I think he’s he’s pulling some out right now.
These are a couple of the protoypes. Once you’re in the Alaskan family, it’s like the mafia. You can’t get out.
I don’t want to get out.
It’s complicated cuz assassins don’t smile now.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Serious face. Assassins don’t smile. Boom. Sass don’t smile.
If I would have drawn up what I wanted this experience to be, this is it. As soon as we walked in, I was a bit overstimulated by how positive everyone was to have us in there and just wanted to like ask what we were doing, like ask about our travels. It’s just super cool. It’s it’s it’s so cool. Let’s go find a hotel. Assassins don’t smile. [Music] Hey, how’s it going?
Good. What can I do for you guys?
Hoping to get a room or two for the night.
Okay. Yeah, come on in.
All right.
So, over here, small room runs 85. Little bigger room 95. Over there, it’ be 115. and I threw a dart at the United States and landed on Alaska, Wisconsin. And this has been phenomenal. Everybody here is amazing. The town seems great. It’s just it’s just been a blast. It’s just a beautiful part of the world, beautiful people, beautiful place. I couldn’t have got luckier with where I threw my dart. So, where did this small town get its name? It turns out that the local post office was established the same year the United States acquired Alaska from Russia. The town followed and then the golf course. The sun is setting, but according to Steve, the night is still young. It’s not tourist season, so we’re going out with the locals.
You know what we say? It go to the bucket. Uh to the bucket.
Get a bucket. Welcome to the bucket. Now I’m going to take a bite. that rush for a pocket burner five. Um, so we’re doing towers right now. This is a game that I’ve never heard of.
You roll the dice. If you land on a six, you take whatever’s next. I just I think I just had the first like tough one and then it’s like it’s it gets dark after that. Six.
Oh.
Oh, another one.
Okay. That was too good to one more bite. [Music] Old park, brother. This
Oh, what’s that? This guy wants me to get I want to get the last one.
You want to get the last six? Lunch bucket. Lunch bucket gets weird. Two pepper roads. All right. Give me the damn lunch. So that is the tower. I may or may not have a couple more drinks. I’m drunk. [Music] Wrestlemania. [Music] [Music] This is great. [Music] So, we’re 24 hours into the challenge now, and I’ve learned three things. One, no practice swings. Two, the weather is crazy. And three, don’t try and keep up with the locals. That’s why I drink Long Drink, the most refreshing beverage on time we got back to the hotel. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t get up at sunrise to get this B-roll. So, please enjoy it. [Music] Some of the members play the golf course every morning and I got the invite to join.
Late night last night. It was really fun. Kiwani gets down, that’s for sure. Looking like it’s going to be a good day. I’m only slightly hung over. Yeah, there’s our guys right there. Oh, well. Well,
boys. How’s that for a time? We’re not done yet, man. We’re not done yet.
We got to play several holes yesterday, but we’re going to kind of like finish the round that we started yesterday and play the rest of the course.
World’s biggest, greatest car path y’all ever seen right here. Alaska, Wisconsin.
Alaska, Wisconsin. Largest car path in America. You heard it here first. We actually got Wolf Highway 42. We got a squad.
How’s it going?
I see you out here this morning already.
Yeah. Yeah, we did see out here this morning. We come out every almost every morning. Oh, yeah. And how are you doing? Good to see you.
Good. Good to see you guys. [Music] That in the field first round in the year. Wouldn’t be golfing, but I’m on the clock. Vitalist for Simmon Woods.
How long have you played them?
Oh god. Where did I get these? Back in the ‘ 90s, early 90s. So, it’s been 30 years. 35 years. One of these members has nine holes in one on the golf course. How insane would that be if we saw him today? 77 years old, owns a golf course. Think he needs to be out here country right now.
It’s my dad. That’s scary.
That’s scary.
That’s big gear.
How much golf did you play last year?
I got 545 rounds in last year. That’s one and a half rounds of golf every day of the year pretty much. Yeah.
I heard something else about you and something that, you know, not a lot of people can say, but how many holes in one do you have?
I got my ninth the other day.
Just the other day.
Yeah. Ju just actually last Wednesday I I got my ninth hole in one. Not all of them, but most of them are good shots, you know. You know, and and you just got to get lucky that it rolls in, right?
Yeah. Statistically, the highest chance of seeing a a hole in one on camera is about to happen. So, let’s go check that out. So, how many do you have on this hole? Three. Looking for number four right now. No, let me go a little bit right.
Yeah, go right. [Music] What would happen if you didn’t make it to the tea again?
I think they chop it off.
Yeah.
Yeah, I think Alaskan Golf Club eighth hole. Nice, beautiful lake. sacrifice a little ball to the lake for fun for the golf gods, you know, just have a good vibes for the day. So, here we go. Oh, you guys. Lucky me. I still got some leftover soft pretzel from the bucket. Last night me and a couple of my siblings were conceived in those sand tra that sand trap on the left and mom and dad had a quit coming to grandpa’s birthday party cuz mom kept getting pregnant. Great shot. Beautiful. Going. All right. Get in there. Boom. Such a pleasure.
Such a pleasure.
Thank you.
You bet. Been a pleasure. First full round at Alaskan Golf Club. What a what a cool spot, man. You know, and it’s like it’s like so many of these like small towns in America. It’s in the small towns across the world. It’s not like about like the golf course. The golf course really isn’t what you’re here for. It’s it’s it’s the people that you meet that like call this area home and loop this course every day. And it’s really cool. Off camera, Jack told us he’s only ever really played Alaskan Golf Club. So, I called in a favor. With a few hours before our flight, I grabbed the last tea time at Blackwolf Run, a top 20 golf course in the entire country.
Hole three, Black Wolf River Run. Dog leg right. Keep that dog in you. You might think that I got lucky that my dart landed where it did, and you’d be right. But what I’ve learned in the last few days is that there are truly random golf courses in every corner of America, maybe even in your own backyard. You don’t need to throw a dart or get on an airplane. Just grab your sticks and head to a course you’ve never heard of. Play with someone you’ve never met. You might be surprised by what you find. I guess I learned one more thing. You can take the man out of Alaska, Wisconsin, but you can’t take Alaska, Wisconsin out of the man. [Music] I’m Keer Rhodess and this is Blind Approach. Speaking of Steve, you told us a story about the bunkers on Hawaii.
Can you confirm? Those are my younger days. 1. This is the ethos of Random Golf Club! Golf is a great game that brings together the best people! Every course and every player has a story to share! Golf’s finest story tellers call RGC home! Well done!

  2. This might be one of my favourite videos ever. As a UK citizen, I love road tripping in the US. And the places off the beaten track, usually are where you have the best experiences.
Case in point, we stopped at Estes Park CO before exploring the scenic byways in Rocky Mountain National Park. The locals were all time friendly. Couldn’t do enough for me and my wife, and we had one of, if not our best evening on our 4000 mile cross country trip.

Bucket list for me is to come back to Road tripping and play a course in all 50 states. Finding places similar to Alaska Wisconsin.

  3. This was amazing. Great story, immaculate vibes, and a fantastic message. I’d love to see this be a regular series

  4. Does that guy live in a trailer down by the river? Is this the character that Chris Farley met in the mid 90s they gave him the idea of his Saturday Night Live character? I think we found him! Or is this actually Chris Farley?

  5. This is like Letterkenny x Trailer Park boys with some Happy Gilmore sprinkled in ❤ This course needs its own show

  6. This is exactly why they need different talent on the channel. For whatever it means, better or worse – EAL couldn’t provide us this content.

  7. Oh boy where do you begin with the feels, you guys made a real gem here, this better be the first of many episodes. Erik has been a little quieter this year, probably busy as all hell, Keffer has been a star on the show for a long time so lets see more. I will say apart from the actual town Keffer seemed to know where he was going, and what is really unbelievable that you accidentally just stumbled upon these made for TV characters, if this was accidental how lucky do you guys feel. One of the best towns I have ever visited is Sheboygan, I have to go up to that area for work now and again and Alaska the town and Sheboygan seem very similar. All the people were great, the town was beautiful but I didn't get happy until I found my bar, every town has a bar for me and I had to drive around 5 to find the right one and found the equivalent Bucket. Dice games in the bar and peanut shells on the floor and a deck where I can smoke if I need to. Next time I go up I am going to Alaska to visit my Huckleberry and the Barefoot Fairway Jesus! Absolutely brilliant Keffer! If I ever relocate in the USA you will find me in Sheboygan.

  8. Weirdly this is half of my golf experience running around to at least 50 courses in my upstate NY region. It’s different up here… where it snows half the year. You gotta make the most of the golf season whenever it presents itself. That might be in March, December or you first round in late May. Mother Earth keeps the score.

  9. This was an awesome video. Make blind approach a series. New Sub over here and I already shared this with 5 friends

  10. This is what we all love about RGC. I'm coincidentally wearing my flowered classic RGC hat today too!

  11. Yooo im from 30 min out from there. Thats my homie jack yall played with in the vid. Mad props wouldve never thought youtube golfers would be at a local course!!

  12. This video is the epitome of Wisconsin and Midwest living. Huge props to Jack, Steve, and everyone out there. There who made your trip worthwhile. I know firsthand that these guys are Legends, but they are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to our tiny little slice of paradise. Thanks for visiting the Wisconsin peninsula!!!

  13. Thank you for this inspiration. Life’s been tough and i think i will be doing this. This page has inspired me in so many ways over the last 8 years

  14. A fellow Kewauneean… you might end up with 350,000 views on this video. This is our home. This is why we love where we live.
