ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.
I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver
and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing
now there’s a lot of advice out there showing you how to hit driver longer the problem is most of it focuses on club head speed now that’s fine if you’re tall athletic and have already have a brilliantly solid golf swing but for many of my students what they find when they start to chase club head speed they start spraying the ball everywhere so instead and if you’re a regular to my channel you’ve probably seen me unlock 20 30 40 yards of distance with many of my students without even touching club head speed in the beginning better how did that one feel
wowza and in this video what I want to do is I want to focus on three things that I want you to look at in your golf swing that can make a big difference to the how far you’re hitting it without having to sacrifice any accuracy whatsoever super excited to share it with you before I do though look if you’re new to the channel one of your first videos of mine please consider subscribing i release lessons like this every single week to try and help you improve your game plus as always you never have to remember a thing everything we do here I’ll put into a free downloadable practice guide in the description box below so the very first thing that’s going to make a big difference to your distance is likely to be setups the first place I go to with all of my students most of them don’t realize it but they’re robbing themselves of so much yardage before they even swing a golf club so let me explain so when you’re setting up to it the very first thing I want to look at is look at your feet make sure they’re not pointed too straight make sure they’re slightly flared outward here and the other thing really simply is this make sure this trail arm well both arms for that matter are very soft nice and relaxed particularly this trail arm because having the feet slightly pointing outwards and this trail arm nice and soft it allows you to create look more mobility in your lower body and more of an arc if this arm is soft here it’s allowing the club to swing much more on an arc and what does an arc help you do it helps you to look swing and catapult this golf club well I find with too many golfers and this was a situation for Adam this week one of my students everything was a bit too straight on there was no arc to his golf swing everything went too straight up here and you can hit it reasonably straight sometimes did that but there is no power whatsoever so stage number one make sure you’ve got some mobility by flaring those feet out soften your arms nice and relaxed to provide the arc the second thing is you need to be able to make uh to hit the ball at the bottom of the ark or even maybe hit the ball as the club is heading upwards it’s a real key for distance to do that just take a look at where the middle of uh your chest is here and the middle of your pelvis most of my students who are struggling with power they tend to have this upper part of their chest here too far ahead of the lower part and what this does you can see here look it just simply creates an attack on the golf ball that’s coming down that dels the club hits very very low shots won’t go um very far sometimes even worse they come the ball can come off the top of the club when you do that and pops up in the air it’s an absolute disaster so what you do instead is make sure the ball’s just inside your lead heel and see my head here look I’m going to swap them around i’m going to make sure my head is right in the middle of my stance and I’m going to feel that my pelvis is just a little bit ahead of that there and all this is doing is helping me now to create a bottom of the swing which is basically in a sense level with a ball or maybe even behind the golf ball so I’m going to hit the ball up those are the first things two things to look at and they’re so common but they’ll make a massive difference to the next stage to increase your distance so now you’ve set up for distance the next thing is to kind of figure out how do you move your body in a way that’s going to promote a much more consistent strike so you hit the ball further a lot of times when my students have been trying to hit the ball longer you start to see all kinds of things you start to see them moving all over the place they start to almost lunge at the golf ball too much they’re trying very very hard but not getting any extra power whatsoever so the drill that I gave uh Adam actually recently once he got him set up well was simply this grab a football and stick it against a wall of some a flat wall and what you’re going to do here is this is once you set up here in position I am simply going to make a movement now and you can can you see here my lead hip is staying on that wall it’s pushing against that ball and he’s pivoting what this is doing here is it’s giving me a much more centered pivot if I have a more of a centered pivot why do you think that could help well it does two things it helps me swing the club look on an arc but is it going to help me when I come back down absolutely imagine if I’ve got something like this first of all there’s no arc going on here i’ve moved to linear i’ve then suddenly got to find my way back here that becomes a lot more complicated and with complication comes inconsistency of contact and a huge loss of power in fact you spend most of your trying time trying to kind of coordinate that swing which again is ruining the effortlessness so once you’ve done that what you’ve got to do is once you’ve got that sensation and I suggest you can any football can do this you can do this indoors once you’ve got that sensation of a a lovely kind of pivot from that left hip here the next thing I want you to do is picture these two lines on the ground a friend of mine Andreas Kelly showed me this and it’s absolutely brilliant once you set up here you’ve got your hip look against the line here your head’s in the middle of your stance all you need to imagine is the hands and the club this is your hand line and that’s your club line and you’re working them on a beautiful arc around the body from here this is a lot more repeatable than a swing that’s sliding off over here and then coming down here but what I love about this visual is it’s it doesn’t require much thought when you’re out playing you can imagine this simple image on the ground you get yourself set here feel a ball next to that lead hip working my hands inwards and around my body here and then I’m going to come back into that golf ball so let me hit a real nice gentle one to start with get myself set head in the middle really soft arms let’s have a look so that was a lovely smooth shot and if you look at that there look my club head speed there look isn’t as fast as it normally would be and that’s my point but we probably this is a 261 yard carry drive now for a lot of people they’re going to really accept that right now what I want you to recognize is this it’s far more important before we start figuring out how to increase this that we build a repeatable swing and once you’ve done that once you start to control this arc and like I said this was massive for Adam keeping that on here and allowing that to pivot here so that rather than just picking it up he could actually create a beautiful arc around his body he stored power this was huge for him the other factor being able now to control the bottom of his swing so he wasn’t chopping down on it again all things that effortlessly increase your yardage without even touching the speed now once you’ve done these two things and I say once you’ve done them right make sure you do these then you can work on to tip three which is things to work on to start to increase that club head speed let’s do that now so once you’ve got your body working your engine of your golf swing directing those arms and supporting the arms and the hands going back on the way through you are you’re a long way there to start to generate some real power now the final piece is the final piece of the swing which is where the hands are right we’ve got to let those hands let them flow they should be releasing that energy that you’ve basically stored there into the back of the golf ball now for Adam he wasn’t doing that you’ll see in a in a in a shot here when he’s swinging he’s almost in a sense the arms and the club are almost in this kind of straight line he’s almost pushing the in a sense the the the ball down the fairway almost too controlled and we need to allow this club to release but there’s a way to release it okay and the simplest thing and this all we gave Adam is is the noise that he created the and the extra club speed he got from doing this drill was instant right
there
made a sound look at that one that was a good one
that is absolute rocket ship dead straight brilliant
that was a good one
brilliant all you got to do is this you get yourself set put the club out in front of you here do this with me now it’s a really good feeling leaving the butt alone all I do watch this i’m going to lift the club up just picked the club up there so it hinges over my trail shoulder not over here just right in the middle of those shoulders and I’ve left the butt alone here i haven’t lifted it up very very important now what this is showing you here is this is what the wrists do on the way back so they’re folding and that’s roughly your three quarterback position from here we need to somehow figure out how to release it which brings on to the next bit hinge it over your trail shoulder drop hinge it over your lead shoulder drop and this here is look at this position here this is where the club is going to release to not this right so now you’ve got an idea of how the wrists are working you can now gently start to kind of get the feeling of the wrists hinging and unhinging and start to apply it to that motion you have just created and can you hear the noise we start to create so we don’t want to jump this up from 105 to 120 what we’re going to do is we’re going to gradually build it up so we get ourselves set here get oursel motion and start to get the feeling of this motion and really let that club release through with this sensation so I might go one two just to kind of rehearse this motion and then away we go so there we go look just a little bit of extra club but not a lot but what it does is it gives you a little bit of extra carry so the first and the most important thing is is start with setup there’s your easy win very few people can increase their distance when ultimately they’re not set up to do so right so start with setup then start to create your arc whilst maintaining the bottom of your swing if you can just imagine having a more of a centered pivot to start with then you’re more likely to get more consistent contact of course there are ways to even ramp this up even further and and push this to 120 mph i might start to raise my arms i might start to really push into the side and really start to launch it up but all those things come once you’ve started to perfect the strike and the consistency of your shots you then have the permission to start to ramp it up and start to do what tour players do but until then start hitting fairways and start getting yardage in a much much easier way hope you enjoyed the video if you did give a thumbs up maybe share it with one of your friends and of course look if you’re new to the channel press that subscribe button and the bell if you’d like to see or how to increase the distance with your irions check this video out right here and remember there’s a free practice plan in the description box below but until next week have a wonderful golfing

Inability to pronounce the letter T. Example: “imporaghant.” Whew! Please learn to enunciate.
I'll try these out right away, although I might use a soccer ball instead of a football 🙂
Really great tips – having a real shocker with the driver at the moment so will be starting back with this video and set up! Thanks for sharing
Been struggling with not getting any whip in my swing. The very first swinging try I g this was night and day different. Center of the face an extra 40-60 yards and dead straight. Not to mention a lot less effort.
Excellently explained as usual. Thanks as always and have a great weekend
Thank you for your usual excellent advice.
I have been working on my wrists and involving them more. I have noticed that over time my wrists have lost there flexibility (due to oldage😢) but have gained a bit more flexibility recently and it shows
The over right shoulder/over left shoulder is a very helpful thought. Can't wait to try it out. Thanks.
Top video again danny thankyou 🙏
This is sooooo good!
Really appreciate you sharing your amazing knowledge w us!
Danny,
I don't understand how the over the shoulder drill relates to the release of the club. Thanks!
Danny, I watch this and previous videos, but fail consistently to gain speed. I'm athletic, hit 70% fairways per rnd, but consistently have a low 90s swing speed with 230 fade…… I'm at a loss these days
Luv your lessons Danny but man that’s not a football dude! Sorry thats a soccer ball😀
It's amazing how many ways he can teach the driver swing.. I suppose at least 1 or more techniques will fit or improve someone's swing.. I find it fun to understand them all… 🤔🏌️♂️
❤🏌️👍
Thank you for all your well explained, easy to follow drills… Love em..
Morning, Dan – with the ball drill are you saying just bump left hip slightly at address ? Cheers, Ken
Hi Danny, always love your videos. One question: you talk about the swing plane. Your swing plane is back and downswing the same plane. Is it not that the downswing is a lower plane / arc then the backswing. Please your opinion about that. Thanks Danny
Danny Maude is quite simply an outstanding golf instructor. I've been following his channel for years now and my game has gradually improved from being a 22 handicap to an 8.4 in about 3 years. At age 61 I can drive the ball between 240 and 260 yards and pretty much straight. What I love about Danny's instruction is that it is honest and straight forward. No tricks or whistles, just solid grounded advice. He doesn't promise you will become a Tiger woods but that you will hit the ball better for your age, size and athletic ability. What comes across is that Danny Maude is not just a great golf instructor but clearly he is a great guy as well.
1.5 M subscribers. DM, your channel keeps growing because your lessons keep getting better and more targeted in a way that average folks like me can not only understand, but see results within a few swings even. Thank you.
Hello Danny! Fantastic lesson as usual. I would like to know what kind of grips are on your clubs? They look interesting.
When you actually swing you are squishing that football flat at impact like with stack and tilt.
I’m really losing the will to live with my driver. Started over the top, which caused a slice. Fixed that, but still slicing. Then saw your video with a box between you and the ball, with the idea being to bring the shaft back square. Realised that I was driving with my hands and not releasing the club early enough. Fixed that and slice went away for a while. Now struggling with turning my hands over. Sometimes not enough and I slice the ball, sometimes too much and it’s a pull hook. Now need to figure out a way to consistently turn my hands over the right amount to get the ball down the middle. You’ve helped with the first 2 issues, any tips for the last part @DanielMaude ?
SirHow do you setup and hit the mini driver.
Super helpful. Thanks Danny!!
Danny, this is helpful! But does the back swing for an iron the same ? I've heard that iron you're suppose to go straight up?
Danny is the best !!!
Hey Danny, I have this issue w my club face coming to impact open and swinging a lil over the top. What should I do?
Great tip! The set was key!
Thanks Danny, amazing info, I'll put it to work!
Great video again Danny, I asked you on a previous post to look at wrists and hands movement, thank you for doing that, you have explained and showed it works excellently, looking forward to trying that on the course
Oops your poor yardage profile on your account, you left it on your 56 degree 😆
Great video! Danny would you do a video on how to shape shots?
Very good visuals making it easy to see.👍👍👍
I can honestly say this works, I was at the range earlier before I even seen this video I’ve noticed I’ve been trying to force power which resulted in me slicing the ball. I slowed down and just let the club do majority of the work just helping it a little bit and I was hitting roughly 240-245ish which is a gain of 20/25 yards, and hitting the ball more consistently straighter.
Danny too much theory, training gets boring please be brief and more practical.
Danny, in this video you talk about keeping "soft arms". I've seen another video with you and Pete Cowan where Pete talks about using the Towel Drill to "twist the grip" to lock up the forearms to stabilize the club face. Are my arms supposed to be "soft" or "locked". Thanks for any help you can provide.
Love that mate.🏌️♂️⛳️
Danny please you have to do a video on the release and wrist stuff you talk about at 9 min mark.
Can't understand but I really want to.
If the wrists are hinging and unhinging in a V shape, right shoulder to left shoulder, I just don't see it. How does it match with your video on firing the hands down ? (possibly the fastest way to fix your ball striking "do this for 6 minutes). The pete cowen drill.
Thank you so much! I can’t believe this is a free tutorial!❤
Great video Danny! I really like how you emphasized having your swing consistent before going for more speed and distance. This is something I neglect to do myself. Usually just go for it all the time. As always I'll take this to the course and improve. Cheers!
