It’s fair to say that Tyrrell Hatton has developed a reputation as one of the most controversial players in professional golf.
The Englishman is undoubtedly a world-class talent, evidenced most recently by his top-five finish at the 2025 US Open.
However, Hatton divides opinion for the way he behaves on the course. Some love that you never have to guess how he’s feeling, while others think his outbursts are inappropriate.
After his latest rant at the ongoing LIV event in Dallas, golf fans were generally unimpressed by his antics.

Hatton was seven under par during the second round at LIV Golf Dallas and up into fourth place when he made a poor mistake.
The 33-year-old did not quite reach the green with his second shot on the par five, and his ball rolled backward into the water.
Hatton then shouted in frustration: “Worst hole on the planet! That is f—ing bu—-it!” Commentator David Feherty hilariously replied: “He didn’t like it.”
But the majority of golf fans did not see the funny side to Hatton’s comments, largely because it was an unforced error.
One tweeted: “Lol, you hit it short into a bank and it’s somehow the hole’s fault? Layup next time.”
Another commented: “The dude pulled out a club and hit it into the water. What’s he complaining about?
“What a loser lmao. Hit a better shot,” a viewer commented. “Great player but does not exactly ooze class, does he?” said another.
A fan replied: “Continues to show why many people in the golf world consider him to be nothing more than a petulant little child.”
However, one spectator did come to Hatton’s defense. He wrote: “Kinda understand his thinking – fairway wood on par 5 over water shouldn’t be punished by rolling back – enough risk and reward.”
But whether Hatton is right or wrong about the seventh hole at Maridoe Golf Club, he could definitely voice his frustrations more respectfully.

Hatton will rise up the LIV Golf standings after the tournament concludes in Dallas, but not enough to make up for his underwhelming season to date.
Before Dallas, Hatton had only two top-10 finishes in eight starts on LIV. He has been consistent, only finishing outside the top 20 twice, but he would have expected more.
The Englishman has only one victory on the tour since making the switch from the PGA Tour. He beat countryman Sam Horsfield by six strokes in Nashville last June.
The bright side of Hatton’s 2025 campaign has been his performances in the major championships. He finished tied-for-14th at The Masters and T4 at US Open.
With the Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland coming up in a few weeks, Hatton has a decent chance to win his first major.
