i love Brian Harmon at 3 and a half% this week [Music] all right we are back this episode of Inside Golf Podcast is brought to you of course as always by Inside Sports Network big announcement we’ve got Wimbledon starting on Monday um and I believe at isn we have the best tennis community in the game led of course by the great Rishi who will be coming on this podcast tomorrow for a quick little 20 minute segment previewing Wimbledon of course as always the lion share of the best information and his plays you’re going to need to be in the Discord for um but he’s going to come on the pod and preview a little bit of Wimbledon and what you can expect at ISN with our tennis content so now is a great time to sign up keep in mind if you sign up for Inside Sports Network right now there’s not a separate price for any of our tennis content so you get all of the golf stuff all of my course previews the best ownership in the game of course access to our premium show on Wednesday night which is really where the magic happens this free podcast is supposed to be kind of an intro to what you get behind the scenes at Inside Sports Network um but really I think the best stuff that we do is in that Discord channel and of course our Wednesday night premium show where we really run through our player pools you get me Kyle and Rishi and I think uh for most subscribers the case is if you are able to kind of combine the best things from me the best things from Kyle the best things from Rishi you are always going to be set up with in a great position to win and we um last week at the Travelers this week for me at least I think Kyle and Rish are doing better than me this week at the Rocket Mortgage particularly Kyle I know was massively massively on Potguer and I have no exposure to Potguider whatsoever um but a Travelers was our our first real week where we kind of just swept the board and all had Keegan together plus Core Jason Day and I had a ton of Tommy Fleetwood and Russell Henley as well uh so that premium show on Wednesday is really where the magic happens although this week at the Rocket Borgage my picks were kind of lacking to be totally honest in fairness to me I took the week off last week i went down to South Carolina played a ton of new golf courses i had a phenomenal week and I’m going to for those who care there has been a lot of requests for a um South Carolina golf trip recap and my thoughts on all of the new golf courses that I played if you don’t care about that stuff totally understand as well it’s it’s not everyone’s bag i know the vast majority of people that listen to Inside Golf podcast every week are like “Okay we want the course preview we want the picks.” Don’t worry you’re getting all of that in this podcast we’re going to talk about John Deere for the vast majority of this podcast i’m just giving a little schedule and life update um but so on the podcast feed tomorrow I’m going to do kind of a a two-part episode part one is going to be Rishi coming on to give his Wimbledon preview and then the second part of the episode we’ll put after the Wimbledon preview so you can choose whether you want to stick around for it or not um where I’ll just come back solo and give like a full recap talking through all of the golf courses that I played my recommendations um for Kiwa if you’re you know if you’re it it’s a very popular big American resort that I would highly recommend if you are the type of person that has um trying to visit and see all of the best resorts in America and you maybe you’ve you’ve done Pinehurst maybe you’ve done Bandon Dunes maybe you’ve done Sand Valley or Stream Song um I’ve done pretty much all of them now except Sand Valley um so I would love to talk a little bit about how Kiwa in my opinion stacks up to a uh Pinehurst or you know a B you know it’s it’s it’s a definitely a little bit different than like the experience that you would get at Abandoned Dunes but it is a great resort and publicly accessible and um there are some really great golf public golf courses in the area um of Kiwa as well that you can combine into one trip so for example I would recommend personally if you’re going down to Kiwa Island to play the ocean course Charleston Mun um which I really liked i know some people think it’s overrated i can talk about why I like Charleston Union why I think there should be more public golf courses like that in more cities in America um that’s a very short drive from where you would be staying at Kiwa Island so that’s a very easy golf course that could provide a nice change up or a little bit of an off-speed pitch if you’re used to getting your butt kicked at the ocean course a couple times and some of the other golf courses at Kiw which are quite hard as well um so anyway I will talk about those golf courses in in South Carolina that I got an opportunity to see um on the Monday podcast today we’re going to talk mainly about John Deere i don’t have much to say about the Rocket i kind of jumped in on Wednesday um without really a ton of research i just wanted to come on the premium show and give like a baseline player pool and a halfass outright card and I mean I have Davis Thompson with a shot today i did get a four of four core through the cutline but it may be the most gutless uh core to make the cut in terms of like EVR i was very heavy on EVR this week and EVR made the cut on the number and has done nothing he’s in like 80th place ouay was a core play for me aay made the cut on the number has done absolutely nothing over the weekend he’s in like T50 not going to do anything for me can’t um I do think playing Kentlay and Morawa at the top was the right decision and obviously Morawa was having a great week and I have you know 50 Collins in 55% of my lineups canlay’s in 55% of my lineups i just I kind of looked at the top of the board and I said I I think there’s a real um you’re getting the two most talented players in the field well Hideki I’d also put in that category to to be fair but um I was quite heavy on Morawa and Klay this week often playing them together in the same lineup and um fine you know I don’t think either of those guys are going to win me big big money this week and then I played a I faded Ben Griffin and played quite a bit of Cameron Young and if I had the opportunity to do that over again I would have played the Ben Griffin chalk and faded the Cam Young chalk um it seems like Ben Griffin is going to outpace Cameron Young not by a tremendous amount um I think you still win a lot of money this week being on Cam Young but my plays at the bottom just weren’t good enough you know right like I I was quite heavy on um Patrick Fishburn and Danny Walker both missed the cut um I think the the best guy that I have at the bottom is Mark Huard who has a real chance to win i you know in fair I got some I I did have get some good things right this week but it’s just going to be one of those weeks where not enough was right to win big money i mean I played a lot of Hubard i played a lot of Thor i played a lot of Doug Gim those were all good plays but you just needed more luke Clanton was a big disappointment for me as well i mean Luke Clanton was in prime position I felt like to make a run at this golf tournament through 36 holes he shoots a 77 on Saturday um so you know I kind of got what I deserved at the Rocket travelers was one of my absolute best weeks of the season both in DFS with all the Fleetwood and Henley and Keegan and Core Jason Day and then obviously the big outright on Keegan i gave a decent amount of it back at the Rocket Mortgage um and so hopefully we can rebound at the John Deere uh because I had a great John Deere last year hit Davis Thompson obviously but these three golf courses that we have in a row TPC River Highlands Detroit Golf Club and TPC Deer Run they are by far the most similar three golf courses that you are going to see in a row i mean realistically the question that all three of these golf courses is asking are very very similar there are some little nuances that are going to differentiate the golf courses for from each other like if I was telling you straight up the difference between Detroit Golf Club and TPC Deer Run in terms of how I’m modeling it at TPC Deer Run this week and taking a little bit of the weight that I had at Detroit Golf Club off of putting detroit Golf Club in my mind is a little bit more of a pure putting contest and putting that a little bit more off of accuracy off the tea at TBC Deer Run whether you know whereas if you hit the fairway at TPC Deer Run and being able to play out of the fairway at TPC Deer Run it’s a little bit more important at a golf course like TPC Deer Run than it was at a golf course like Rocket Mortgage where whether you hit the you could you could be fairly loose off the tea there’s a little bit more of a missed fairway penalty at TBC or run but for the most part all three of these golf courses in a row the modeling the questions being asked is extremely similar all three of the golf courses have very similar scoring conditions so you know if all things are equal and you get what I would call normal weather all three of these golf tournaments are going to be won at around 20 to 25 under the proximity buckets are very very similar right so again if all things are equal in terms of the receptiveness and the firmness of the golf course you’re going to be hitting a lot of shots on all three of these golf courses between 100 and 150 yards and so you know the tricky thing about some of these golf courses is and it seems like I’m kind of like one for two thus far so the John Deere will define for me whether this was a successful or unsuccessful stretch where Travelers was an amazing week for me and Rocket Mortgage was a bad week for me um but these golf courses where you have a greens in regulation percentage in the 70 you know 70 plus percent so much of the strokes gained pie is putting you know we’re talking well over 30% of the strokes game pie is putting because you have such a high grins and regulation percentage and putting is just a very very difficult metric to predict always has been always will be you look at the leaders in putting this week at the Rocket Mortgage andrew Putnham Max Graaserman are one and two in fairness that that’s actually kind of predictable putinham and Greaserman both did have very very solid putting stats coming in but then it is Matt McCarti Matthew Reedell Thor Jornson who I did play Peter Malady Dominic Clemens Chandler Phillips Jackson Suber Harry Hall Nico Echavaria Sammy Valamaki Gordon Sergeant Nick Hardy Thorb Jordan Olison Chad Remy Noah Goodwin Michael Kim again it you you could give people a thousand tries to try and predict strokes gain putting at these golf courses and you’re still going to have a very very difficult time um so you know with the John Deere Classic it’s another one of those weeks where just at the end of the day you’re going to have to be quite cautious about it doesn’t mean that it’s a tournament where you can’t make money off of obviously I had a great John Deere last year but there always is the potential at these golf courses like don’t be surprised if you we get a weird strokes gain putting week where the guys that go off with their putter are not necessarily the most predictable players that’s always going to be in play at these types of golf courses um so anyway let’s talk a little bit of John Deere um I apologize as well by the way i have a new sound mixer coming i’m recording this right now off my MacBook speakers without my microphone i am in New York right now and um will be in New York for a while so you know the the benefits of me being in New York is I’m back on East Coast time so a lot of my stuff for the folks at Inside Sports Network in terms of like my ownership some of my podcasts a lot of that stuff’s going to come out earlier on the East Coast because I’m not anymore on the West Coast waking up at 7 or 8 a.m on a Sunday morning doing a little bit of research in the morning starting my day and stuff and then recording this podcast that I’m recording right now at like 10 or 11 a.m pacific time aka it comes out at 2 or 3 Eastern time i’m recording this right now at 11:00 a.m eastern on Sunday morning so hopefully some of my content should be out a little bit earlier for you over these next two months that I will be in New York but I’m also playing a lot more golf and doing a lot of traveling while I’m in New York as well which is not what I was doing when I was on the East Coast or on the West Coast but big John Deere week for us i don’t have any golf scheduled this week i’m going to be very locked in from now all the way through the Open Championship because I really want to have a huge awesome open championship it’s our final major of the year at Inside Sports Network it’s kind of our last big big week of the year to kind of show people what we can do and what we can provide before you know kind of an off season where you know we dabble into launching our best product and and dive more into our tennis product and our NFL product and we kind of put our golf content a little bit to the side and grow in different ways and expand into different sports which is something I’m incredibly excited to share with all of you guys in the upcoming weeks um and months our team’s been working very hard at that but yeah John Deere for me um we’re giving our guy Twitterless Steve and Kapper the week off steve was very generous to pick up a lot of the slack for me last week at the Rocket Mortgage when I was away so I said “Okay I’m back in the mix for the John Deere i will be super locked into the John Deere for all of our subscribers thanks for helping me out last week you could take a week off if you need it so um this will be at isn your primary course breakdown for the John Deere no hold the green this week so let’s without further ado let’s dive right into it okay so John Deere Classic uh this tournament has been uh a staple of the PGA Tour since the early 1970s it was previously known as the Quad Cities Open before John Deere took over as the main sponsor in 1999 uh and since then we have been going to TPC Deer Run uh for the last 20 years pretty much I would put it in the bottom 10 golf courses on the PGA Tour in terms of the architecture and interest of the golf course I would say compared to Detroit Golf Club it’s a little bit more of an interesting test from Ted Green there’s some more elevation changes it’s on a better piece of land it has a little better topography but the greens are a total nothing burger it was designed in 1999 by DA Wybring the PGA Tour came in and did a bit of a redesign in 2006 2007 just like a place like TPC River Highlands and uh Detroit Golf Club it is long overdue for an update i mean the current version of TPC Deer Run barely tests pros in any way shape or form the biggest push back and difficulty of the golf course is that the rough is kind of long but the fairways are wide and very generous so it’s not typically all that difficult to hit the fairways at TPC Deer Run but if you are extremely inaccurate and you spray the ball um you’re definitely going to have a harder time scoring than those who are consistently playing from the fairway and so it is a golf course where um accuracy is a part of my model i think you get a huge advantage if you are able to consistently play from the fairway at TPC deer run there are still obviously going to be some paths to victory if you’re not really hitting too many fairways at all but it’s more of an accuracy over distance golf course it’s not the driver usage percentage at this golf course is right around tour average it’s the type of golf course where if you want to hit a million drivers and you have the ability to be long and straight you can definitely gain an advantage but it’s such a short golf course with a lot of short to medium length par4s that if you are short and inaccurate you’re not going to get totally screwed here um and that’s why it’s not a golf course which I where I would weigh distance at the golf courses where you really want to weigh distance are the golf courses where if you are short and inaccurate you’re kind of screwed and hitting a bunch of long irons and TPC Deer Run is not that it is just short enough with enough proximity buckets you know there’s a lot of shots on this golf course between 100 and 150 yards um so again it’s you know a little bit more of an accuracy over distance golf course but for the most part the two main things that you want to focus on the same way at TBC River Highlands and the same way at Detroit Golf Club is that over accuracy off the tea over distance off the tea over short game i’m still taking on this golf course at the end of the day wedges and putting wedges and putting are the name of the game at these three golf courses above everything else is number one you want great wedge play and number two you want great putting and so Davis Thompson won this tournament last year at 28 under par over my guy Thorb Json and Clanton uh Thompson was 25 to1 on average i think I bet him at 33 uh the scoring average is minus 2.33 which is even low for TPC deer run prior year seep straa JT Poston my guy Lucas Glover who I like quite a bit this week and Dylan Fertelli with an average scoring a winning score of around 21 under par and a scoring average that usually plays around a stroke and a half underpar um and it is in terms of the aronomy and length par 71 7,289 yards uh bankrass fairways uh measuring around 36 yards wide so pretty wide fairways rough is Kentucky blueg grass with fine fescue measuring 4 in greens are 5,500 square ft with uh this beautifully pure strain of L93 bank grass that run 12 on the stem so no POA in these grains would be a a slight other difference that makes it easier on this golf course to hold putts and that’s why you’ll see quite a bit of poor putters be able to gain a bunch of strokes putting on this golf course lucas Glover being a prime example of that because the greens are just so easy um and again it’s just another perfect like if if I was giving the dictionary definition of a bent grass birdie fest it would be TPC deer run um and again we’ve kind of seen just as many bombers as we’ve seen shorter hitters succeed here um like I said the kind of biggest difference between the two is that TBC when talking about Detroit Golf Club and what we saw last week Detroit Golf Club has harder greens than TPC Deer Run and TPC Deer Run is a little bit more of a challenge off the tea but my models incredibly similar for both golf courses um and I mean Michael Kim kind of explained the formula at TPC Dear Run very well after his 2018 victory and I quote “Guys like Zack Johnson Jordan Speed this is a Michael Kim quote by the way zack Johnson Jordan Speed Steve Stricker guys that don’t necessarily bomb the ball but with a good wedge game in putting that’s the key they can do well so kind of along the same mold greens are great they’re soft they’re rolling true and they’re bank grains so you’ve just got to hit your line and it is a golf course where you can kind of like randomly come out of nowhere and totally just spike with your putter and win the golf tournament like we saw Michael Kim do in 2018 but in fairness you know the the the last couple of years um the winner in at least the last four years have been in that 30 to 50 to1 range thompson was 30 to1 straa was 50 to1 poston was around 50 to1 and Glover was around 50 to1 so you know I don’t necessarily think it’s like totally the week where I’m looking to invest a lot of money at the top of the board by the way this might be the worst field that we have all season i mean truly Ben Griffin is going to be the favorite at this golf tournament ben Griffin is the best player in this field and then I think number two on the odds board a player I actually like quite a bit this week and it feels like the perfect opportunity if this guy’s ever going to get his win on the PGA Tour i couldn’t think of a more perfect spot for him i just don’t know if I’m going to end up betting him because I think we could wake up on Monday morning and he’s literally at 16 to1 but Denny McCarthy Danny McCarthy might be like the second or third best course fit in the field then you have Sunjm who can’t hit an iron to save his life i mean I I don’t think you could play Sunj right now i tried to play him at the Travelers based on the fact that even though he’s turned into like the worst iron player on the PGA Tour he’s still you know has one of the best short games in the field he’s been driving the ball great for the most part the putter’s kind of come and gone but at TPC Deer Run on a golf course where wedge play and putting is so important and the two things that Sunj is doing well right now are driving in short game i think Sunj is a bad play i don’t think you could do it maybe one of these weeks his iron play is going to turn back in the right direction but sitting and waiting and wishing and hoping on that i’ve tried with Sunj plenty of times this season and he just is on the worst iron run of his career truly the worst iron run that I have seen from a good player in the entire time that I’ve been doing this um and each of the last 10 years TPC Deer Run has played as one of the 10 easiest golf courses on the PGA Tour so it’s about as birdief festy as it gets and it generally ranks somewhere between the third and tenth easiest golf course on the PGA Tour depending on how much rainfall the course receives during tournament week last year the golf course played extremely soft and we saw our lowest scoring average and winning score in the last 10 years when Davis Thompson won at 28 underpar um this year I would expect a little bit of positive regression in terms of scoring i would expect the golf course to play a little bit more difficult than last year as there is not a ton of rain in the forecast leading into the start of the tournament we’re going to get some scattered showers on Friday and Saturday but the golf course is not going to be soaked by any means and there’s even a fair amount of wind scheduled for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning so you know I think maybe this year we get back to a winning score of 21 to 23 underpar and a scoring average of minus1.75 underpar as opposed to the 28 under and minus 2.3 scoring average last year that we saw when the golf course was completely soaked and there was barely any wind at all but you know we’ll go through the model right now it’s time to spin the wheel once again and hope our players can catch fire on the greens as this week my main two things as it has been the last two weeks elite wedge players with a high spike putting percentage who consistently raise their baseline and easy scoring conditions um what was I going to say last week too um or the past or the past couple of weeks with TPC or TPC uh River Highlands and Detroit Golf Club you know if you’ve been playing well on these style of golf courses this is the type of little stretch where you can catch fire and make quite a bit of money on these three week on this three-w weekek stretch if you are a great wedge player and a great putter now is your time to cash in so I looked at overall I think this is a good um two more points and then we’ll run through the model actually um I looked at how players have performed at uh those two extra golf courses outside of TPC Deer Run and the other thing that I will say about TPC Deer Run that I found interesting in terms of all of the regular golf courses that we see every single year on the PGA Tour and this is another reason why you know this golf tournament’s a little bit harder to predict because the greens and regulation percentage is so high at TPC Deer Run and maybe this will surprise some people because it is a golf course where you know there are a few players that just play well here every single year like Zack Johnson Steve Stricker but compared to other PGA Tour courses overall it has maybe the lowest correlation of course history on the entire PGA Tour in terms of course history being predictive for each other year after year it’s just a very straightforward easy golf course with not a lot of strategy not a lot of nuance to the green so if there’s any golf course where I wouldn’t really care too much about prior performance or even if you’ve seen the golf course at all this is the golf course to do it on right it’s an incredibly easy golf course to show up on your first appearance and contend immediately last year Luke Clinton Ben Griffin both showed up top five in their first appearance prior three years Levig Aaron Ry Kevin U Cameron Young Christian Bizaden Chris Godrub they all finished top seven and contended as first timers jt Poston’s course history before winning here in 2022 terrible dylan Fertelli and Shawn O’Hare both won at this golf course in the last decade as first timers so point being this is among my lowest course history weight of the season but I do care about how you’ve performed in easy scoring conditions how you perform at uh TPC River Highlands and Detroit Golf Club and so if you combine TPC River Highlands and Detroit Golf Club the best players overall at both these golf courses that have popped these are some names to look out for number one Kevin Ker who cares about him he’s unplayable he’s not a serious golfer anymore but Tom Kim Sunjm Jason Day I don’t know how I feel about Jason Day this week he’s going to get a massive price bump over what we got him at at the Travelers where he was a huge piece for us in a great week rico Hoey gosh that did not work out this past week he might be the worst putter right now on the entire PGA Tour chris Kirk who’s playing great at Rocket Mortgage right now eric Cole i don’t really know what to do with Eric Cole because I think this is a phenomenal golf course for Eric Cole but I don’t really know where the state of his game is at he withdrew from the Travelers and actually boned a really nice lineup for me and then he was originally supposed to be in the field at the Rocket Mortgage and he withdrew from that golf tournament as well so I don’t know if Eric Cole is like fully fully healthy at the moment but if he was I would think this would be a perfect golf course from Davis Thompson Sheamus Power obviously those are guys that have performed great at all these Ben Grass Birdie Fest and obviously have great course history at TBC Deer Run as well so let’s take a quick break and then we will finish up with the model and a few early leans okay top 20 number one Lucas Glover former champion obviously at John Deere for my money I think he’s probably the best wedge player in the field not a great putter by any means but he has shown the ability to putt very well on these greens he’s very accurate off the tea you know that Lucas Glover is always going to be playing from the fairway and this is a golf course TPC deer run where certain players they kind of figure it out and it’s very easy for them to win multiple times i don’t think Lucas Glover’s skill set and what he does is very dissimilar from a Zack Johnson or a Steve Stricker so do I believe that this is the type of golf course that Lucas Glover could stack multiple victories at particularly the way that he’s playing right now he was my favorite play in the $6,000 range at the Travelers Championship and he finished ninth gaining significantly off the tea and on approach so Glover is hitting the absolute piss out of the ball right now he’s just straight flushing um and this is a very very comfortable golf course for him i could easily see Lucas Glover stacking another victory at the John Deere there’s a very high likelihood that he will be on my betting card as one of my picks to win number two Ben Griffin the guy’s just playing phenomenal golf right now i mean what more is there to say he was incredible chalk at the Rocket Mortgage i faded I faded him there and doesn’t look like he’s going to win the golf tournament but he’s certainly a relevant player that continues to just play amazing golf and any time you’re going to a golf he finished fifth at this event last year and has become a much better player he’s picked up distance you know he’s driving the ball great he’s a phenomenal wedge player and he can make a bunch of putts so there’s no reason to believe that Ben Griffin wouldn’t just keep playing great golf if he is less owned than he was last week I would consider playing Ben Griffin with a little bit more seriousness number three Eric Cole we already talked about him a little bit i think it’s a phenomenal golf course for Eric Cole if he’s healthy and playing well but I just don’t know the total status of his current game coming off the fact that he’s technically withdrawn from his last two events number four my guy Davis Thompson it’s hard to go back to back players have gone backto back at the John Deere in fact Steve Stricker won it three years in a row davis Thompson having another great week at the Rocket Mortgage in fact I think he has even an outside chance to win the Rocket Mortgage or at least finish top five probably not going to bet him to go back to back but no reason to Yeah no reason to believe that Davis Thompson isn’t going to continue to stack cash at these Pentrass Birdie Fest number five Rico Hoey and I expect that rank to go a little bit downhill after the two rounds that he put up at Rocket Mortgage where he actually hit the ball really well like he gained over a stroke and a half off the tea and on the on approach in two rounds at the Rocket Mortgage rico Hoey lost six strokes putting okay and he pretty much ranks in that key range of five to 15 feet where you’re going to need to to win the John Deere Classic no matter what you do you’re going to need to make a million putts from 5 to 15 ft there’s a chance that Rico Hoy might be the worst putter in this entire field at least right now from 5 to 15 ft so doesn’t really matter how well he continues to hit the ball he’s very just good overall driver of the ball he has great distance and accuracy and he is a great overall approach player whether it be wedges or long irons he’s a great iron player throughout the bag the disparity I can’t imagine how frustrating this is for the guy right now because the disparity between Rico Hoe’s ball striking and putting is probably the biggest on the PGA Tour right now so I believe in the ball striking so much and I think these are very very easy greens for bad putters to kind of find it and regain some semblance of confidence i’m going to play Rico again because I believe in the ball striking upside but in terms of like a pick to win he is so far lost with his putter that I think like his upside this week is regaining a little bit of confidence with his putter maybe getting back to a neutral putter this week and I think finishing top 10 or top 20 but I don’t trust him to make enough putts to win a golf tournament right now he’s just too far gone luke Clinton number six played well at the John Deere last year disappointing week at the Rocket Mortgage i had pretty high hopes for Luke Clinton at the Rocket Mortgage i bet him to win i thought it was a great spot for him to get his first breakthrough victory and he had a 77 on Saturday that’s not going to cut it number seven Denny McCarthy we already talked about um I think this is a phenomenal spot for him to get his first PGA Tour victory i couldn’t think of a worse field and a better course fit for Denny McCarthy obviously he’s one of if not the best putter on the field and he’s having a pretty good approach season like I would trust Danny McCarthy’s wedges right now for him to gain enough strokes on approach to actually win this golf tournament eight Alex Smallley another guy kind of like Rico Hoey where my numbers are just too high on him i mean it it’s a flaw in my personal modeling that because Alex Smallley can put up duds all the time and he’s had a really good season i mean Alex Smallley has had a lot of really really good weeks for me this year where I’ve had a lot of instances where Alex Smallley has made me a lot of money this year but he will also put up duds all the time and we got another complete dud for him at the Rocket Mortgage i think it’s a good fault spot i think he will rebound this week at the John Deere and play well at the John Deere and then we go nine Bud Collie i have a long history with Bud Collie i play him quite a bit he had another strong week at the Travelers um he continues to hit his irons well i don’t think I’m gonna bet him to win the golf tournament but I think he’s very viable as a DFS play number 10 Ameliano Go amelio Grio might be a bet because Ameliano Agrio has kind of quietly become on this stretch like the best iron player in this field i mean right now in terms of this field I have Lucas Glover and Ameliano Agrio as the best current approach players in this field i mean there’s if we are talking about wedges and putting right and we say that wedges and putting are like our two biggest things here i think you could bet the best putter in the field and Denny McCarthy and then if you wanted to bet the two best wedge players in the field I would lead you towards betting Ameliano Grio and Lucas Glover who as a bonus are both very accurate off the tea as well and I think that’s what I may end up doing is like a Lucas Glover Ameliano Grio Denny McCarthy card i’m not going to bet Denny under 20 to one i can tell you that much um and so maybe Denny’s out for me as an outright bet but just ends up being a key piece for me in DFS because in a vacuum this week if we are talking about players at the top of the board for DFS and this could completely change um so obviously be sure to join is and tune tune in to our Wednesday show when I really make the real decisions of who to play in DFS and who the best plays are once I see the market settle we get more accurate weather i see the ownership for the guys but if you’re telling me just based on course fit no ownership early leans for DFS my favorite play at the top over Sunj over Ben Griffin over Jason Day um over Davis Thompson over Luke Clanton over Siu Kim i’d choose Denny over all of those guys based on the way he’s hitting his wedges and the way he’s putting and his course history right now and then we’ll go through the final 10 because they’re all kind of usual suspects that played well at the Rocket Mortgage have good course history at um TPCD or Run and are just perfect wedges and putting guys every single one of these players has either been just like a menace in easy scoring conditions is a great wedge player is a great putter or both and so you have Jason Day Sew Kim Andrew Putnham Keith Mitchell my guy Doug Gim having a great week for us at the Rocket Mortgage again JT Poston Chris Kirk Thorb Jordan Olsen Sheamus Power and Rio hits a lot of the usual suspects here but for me as I mentioned I think my strongest early leans just based on let’s oversimplify this thing at a macro level and identify the straightup best wedge players in this field and the straightup best putters in this field i think my three favorite kind of early leans course fits that I’m percolating around um Eric Cole if the health is all right that’s going to be a guy I’m going to take a chance on in DFS but probably don’t trust his health enough right now to win the tournament but kind of those three big early leans for me are Lucas Glover Ameliano Grio and Denny McCarthy that’s about as far as like DFS guys I’ll take chances on again in DFS eric Cole Rico Hoey Alex Smallley Bud Collie Doug Kim obviously um I like Chris Kirk Olison Sheamus Power as well sheamus Power on the bounceback after missing the cut at Rocket Mortgage i think he’ll bounce back nicely this week uh but that will do it for me um thank you as always for listening uh and subscribing to our YouTube channel if these free previews are helpful for you the best thing that you can do to keep making them free because we are thinking about and experimenting maybe should we put this stuff the course provies behind the payw wall are we doing our subscribers a disservice by am I giving too much away in the Sunday previews but it’s kind of a double-edged sword because these previews are kind of the um our biggest marketing as well it’s really the the only way that we really kind of market the company so it’s how a lot of new people will find isn in the first place but point being if these Sunday podcasts help you quite a bit um throw us a like or subscribe on our YouTube channel share it around on Twitter if you haven’t already and I will be back on this podcast feed tomorrow previewing Wimbledon and talking a little bit more about the best golf that South Carolina has to offer i I I I’ve been to South Carolina now twice um in the last seven months so I can even add in the golf courses that I saw in uh in November Tree Farm Old Barnwell and Conger and just make it a big South Carolina southeastern United States travel update um as well as what I think will be a better part of the podcast and certainly more actionable is Rishi coming on to preview Wimbledon um so best of luck with uh how your bats and DFS lineups turn out at the Rocket Mortgage and we will back be back on this podcast feed tomorrow cheers
