there have been a lot of great baseball farewells but there is one that sticks out from the rest when a legend retires you can feel the love and sometimes the moment becomes part of the legend Mariano Rivera exiting his last game Ted Williams smashing a home run in his final at bat Derek Jeter’s final home game walk-off but nothing beats John krook’s exit krook was a three-time All-Star and a fan favorite with the Phillies in the early 1990s by 1995 Kook was with the white socks and his achy knees made it too painful for him to keep playing on July 30th he entered the game with an 0 for 15 slump that he finally broke with a first inning single but when his next at bat came around Frank Thomas pinch hit for him so what happened to Kook turns out he retired mid game after his first inning hit he got dressed left the ballpark and was home before the game was even over he then released a statement that he was retiring the best part is krook’s final hit ensured that he finished his career with a 300 batting average on the DOT

  1. I love Kruk. He is what baseball should be like. His at bat against Randy Johnson in the all star game was legendary.

  2. So, he just got up and left? Told his coach to pinch hit for him and he left his team? Did he even tell his coach? I don't know. To me it sounds like a d*ck move.

  3. Back when he and I were in San Diego (me being a regular Joe), I would often get asked if I was related to him. My physic was similar and yes, I had a mullet.

  4. Did you go to college for communications or television marketing and someone end up at the MLB making YouTube shorts? Yes, you did

  5. Kruk's name lives on at the high school baseball field at Keyser High School in western Mineral County WV. George Brett, John Kruk, Bill Mazeroski, and Steve Yeager all MLBers born in WV and two of them are HOFers!!!

  6. He was one of those guys that everybody loved – not just Philly fans, but maybe it was the way the media covered him. They all spoke highly of him and I realized that when I saw his pic on the jpg, a smile came across my face. I could him making me smile. 😄

  7. The best part was that he admitted to asking one of the guys in Baltimore to help him out, and they agreed to it.

  8. What is the A key? I guess achy starts with A… And key sort of sounds like knees??.. Not even keys but key. Pretty dumb.
