Patrick Reed is finally a champion on LIV Golf, having emerged victorious from a four-way playoff in Dallas.
Reed’s caddie helped him win LIV Golf Dallas, where the Houston-area resident won his first professional tournament in his native state.
He finished his three rounds at Maridoe Golf Club on six-under, level with Louis Oosthuizen, Jinichiro Kozuma and Paul Casey.
But a 16½ foot birdie putt on the 18th green saw Reed secure his first LIV Golf individual win from 41 attempts.
Reed impressed Harold Varner III at LIV Golf Dallas, where Crushers GC claimed the team title for a third consecutive tournament.

But after Reed’s LIV Golf Dallas win, the American’s potential involvement in the Ryder Cup team has now taken another twist.
Sharing his verdict on the matter, Ryan Lavner said on the Golf Channel Podcast with Rex & Lav: “Patrick Reed did finish third at The Masters. Had another top 25 finish at the US Open.

“He has played well on LIV. I was surprised to see this was the first time he has got it across the line and won a golf tournament.
“I think it’s really going to come down to The Open Championship. If he has another good major championship performance there I would certainly want a Patrick Reed on the team over Brooks Koepka, who appears all out of sorts.
“Withdrew due to ‘illness’ and was also smashing up a tee marker. What is up with these guys? Destroying public property, not good at all.”
Where is Patrick Reed ranked in the US Ryder Cup team rankings?
Unlike Reed, Koepka certainly didn’t have a LIV Golf Dallas event to remember, withdrawing shortly after his outburst on the tee box.
It definitely wasn’t a good look for the five-time major champion, the tournament or LIV Golf itself, although fortunately it seemed no fans were injured during the incident.

He won’t have done his 2025 Ryder Cup hopes any favours, but former Masters champion Reed certainly has.
The 34-year-old has just picked up his first win in Texas since junior golf, but more importantly has to be putting himself in contention for Bethpage Black.
It remains to be seen what decision American captain Keegan Bradley takes with the major winner, but Reed does seem like he would represent a popular pick.
PGA Tour players dominate the USA team rankings at this moment in time, with Bryson DeChambeau the highest-ranked LIV Golf player.

He occupies fifth spot in the qualification standings, compared to the likes of Reed in 35th and Koepka in 67th.
On the European side, Tyrrell Hatton is ranked in third place, with his fellow LIV Golf star Jon Rahm in 17th.
