SGGT is known for its unique, detailed 4, 6, 8, PW iron fittings at our flagship Edinburgh and Chesterfield studios. Where as many fitters use only 7 iron to fit an iron set, SGGT goes through the bag to find you the best fit for your game.
Recently, a customer said he thought SGGT offered the “World’s Best Iron Fitting” at our flagship Edinburgh and Chesterfield studios. He challenged us to find anywhere else in the world that offered all this in iron fittings:
• Fitting across set 4, 6, 8 irons & PW. Not just a 7 iron.
• Completely brand independent so you’re guaranteed unbiased advice
• Largest heads/shaft selection in Europe. We have the biggest matrix.
• Premium balls – ProV1s etc instead of range balls.
• Your choice of grip – We’ll put your preferred grip on the clubs you’re testing.
• An opportunity to test off mats & grass, indoor & outdoor during the fitting. It’s the only way to see the true ball flight and test turf interaction. Plus you still get the benefits of our Trackman launch monitors.
We haven’t found anywhere else yet. So, is SGGT the “World’s Best Iron Fitting?”. We’d be genuinely curious to know so please do get in touch.
Please Note: There are regional service variations offered at our Netherlands studios. Please contact them for details.
If you’d like to experience an iron fitting on this level then contact our Edinburgh or Chesterfield studios – or book online at www.sggt.co.uk

[Music] hello and welcome back to SGT Today we’ve got a strange one Aaron We’ve got a James Wilson What’s in the bag
i’ve been waiting all year for this We’ve got some demo clubs in here cuz you’ve not quite got to the stage that we’re getting built yet Is this it
this is This is the setup Yeah this is this is the setup
Where we going let’s start with wedgies Let’s work our way up the way
Vokei
you’re going to play what’s in there Vokey
Vocis I’ve played Vokis for years and years now I just really like the look of them I like the shape of them I like the feel of them Um it’s a it’s been a kind of main stay in my in my bag for really quite a long time Um three wedges so 60 So this is a 6012 D grind Okay
Um D was a bit of a surprise to me Um I’ I’d always been a I’d always been like an M grind player Um and then we did wedges blind Did it outside and and M felt terrible M M clear clearly was not was not the boy for me but DG grind D grind was really really good I really like the the crescent grind in the bottom of the sole I can play loads of different golf shots with with that one there I mean the the golf that I get to play these days I’ve got like two young two young daughters My eldest um she’s just about to turn seven and my youngest one um she’s 9 months old right now So my time my time isn’t really my own and it’s completely through choice Uh but when I do get a chance to play I just want to go and enjoy myself I’m not really particularly worried on what my score is When I do go and play golf I just want to go and have a good time
That that blind insight that I think that reflects in in my in my golf bag
That blind testing is a good insight as to kind of wedges especially Oh completely
Um just kind of there’s a lot of perceived ideas a golfer has about what they think they need and when they actually hit it and don’t know what it is
like yourself there it felt awful It’s funny It’s funny how it was a thing It was a thing that I’d used for years as well I just completely believed that I needed less bounce I made that kind of C grind Um so the C grind bit was crind bit was was really quite good but I just didn’t need as little bounce as that And going next one there So 5610s Um I play I play Vokey Raw Again played played Vokey Raw for really quite a long time I really like the look of the of the sort of raw finish wedge Um it reminds me back to like being like a junior golfer
Um going back to like the Titus oil cannon wedges Like that’s really where the like vokey love has kind of come from So
it may sound like a daff question to you What do you use in a bunker do you use 56 or 60
um it kind of depends So if I’m if I’m further away I’ll use a 56 If we bit closer I’ll I’ll use 60
Depends on the shot Just kind of on on the shot that I want to play Gap wedge is probably my is probably the most used one Um I feel that I a gap javelin like I quite like chipping with it Um so again uh this is a a 5012F Um again worked we better with having a little bit more bounce in in that one Um I feel I can kind of nip that off the ground really quite nicely Um I used to be a member through and leaving you know where you where you’re a member now Great golf course
Um brilliant brilliant fun and when I get like when I get a chance to go and play now I kind of play here there and everywhere Uh and it’s us it’s usually withh usually guys from work My sister-in-law sister-in-law is pretty handy She she plays off plus two
Pretty handy Plus two
Pretty handy Yeah I she’s a she’s a carnust Um so there’s a there’s definitely a game to be had up there
Uh my we brothers member at Cotti where I where I was a a junior member as well So I’m definitely going to play there at some stage again Um going into in fact wedge shafts Um dynamic gold S400s Um black because they’re cool
Um correct
Going up there into irons Um so I’ve always been a blade type golfer Um I just like the way they look
You’ve never been a blade type golfer
You like the look of a blade type golf club You’ve had blades
I’ll kid on that I was all right
Now it’s making sense
MP33s into MP4s
Yeah some something like that Hey there’s some TPMBBS in there at some point
Oh there’s there’s been a couple of sets of TPMBBS Y um so the way the way I hit the ball I launch it to the moon Um I’ve I’ve got like quite a lot of power but it goes up the way rather rather than forward
The neck hurts when they play with you a wee bit Yeah Trackman has to kind of get readjusted up Trackman gets readjusted up the way for my ball flight So anything I can do to just flatten that trajectory down a little bit deal me So previously you know with with it with the sort of blade heads that that I’d been using I’d had the loft taken off them but then all of it
well it it it then changed the offset of the head and it didn’t then do what I wanted it to go and do in the first place Um I previously used you know like dynamic gold X100s for a long long time uh shifting into KBS C taper 130s
I don’t need to play heavy heavy things like that anymore
Many people would say you shouldn’t have been playing a blade Well perhaps not but it was it was it was a thing that I really liked to look at
Um and then you kind of come to the realization that as soon as you don’t play as much golf I could make I could make them work Okay Yeah
Uh but as soon as you stop playing as much golf just need something that’s got a bit more life about it So Mizuno 245s they’re going to be the flavor of choice Um I’m going to go four iron down to pitching wedge with these guys I’m going to change shaft up a little bit I’ve done done like quite a bit of testing with this and I just fancy going to a graphite shaft just seeing like what what that can do Um I’m still like still quite strong you know club like club head speed still like quite fast but I just want to try something a little bit lighter than a a KBSCT for 130 Um so I’ve gone obviously way way lighter into a 115 And so Acra TZ um they just feel really good They feel really good They feel really smooth but they give me that kind of flatter ball flight that I’m actually striving for in the first place Uh Mizuno Pro 245s because it’s that hollow body head uh these guys spin a little bit less Um they’ve got a we bit stronger loft which works really quite nicely for me But looking down at the head it still gives me the feel that I’ve got my normal blade in my hand
To coin a Jimbo phrase we want something in an iron for you that’s going to go low flat forward
Low flat forward low flat forward for me is is is where it’s at Length lie on those
Um I’ve played I’ve played threequarters of an inch longer for for really quite a long time Uh I’m going down the way to half an inch longer this time because you know previously I just didn’t realize how heavy my golf clubs were Uh you kind of pl on the swing weight scale on the the first letters e that can get that right Scary there doesn’t it
yeah So make them all make them a we just a wee whisker shorter Um so we’re going to play half inch longer I played my golf clubs at one at one degree upright going up the way into rescue
the peanut the peanut Yeah
not peanut one
Um I had a had a one iron in my bag for really quite a long time believe it or not Again play like playing more golf
It was a a Mazuno MPH5 on the bottom
It was a kid It was a kid on one iron H but I I I loved it But same same sort of thing It had a really heavy shaft in it
16° or something
Just I just Well probably probably a bit stronger Just don’t need that sort of thing in my life anymore So we are going to go tightest uh tightest GT2 The three the GT3 is the one I’d kid on that I’m all right to play but I need I need the help of the two um
setting
So three A1 just just nice neutral We can have the have the heavier weight like in at the heel with this guy
Um that’s a nice looking shift Well I’m going to I’m going to take inspiration from what from what you did in and your two iron I’ve been slavering over that for quite a long time
I wonder what that water was
The Obin Koshi uh Kyoshi purple I’m going to go classic paint Not like not too reserve I think the purple color It’s just really cool But it’s a it’s a shaft that that meets what I that meets what I need it to go and do at the same time
You know you know what I’ve learned when you’ve got a shaft like that and then you hit it like I hit it at the weekend you look like a plonker We’ve all
I’ve got a black sh we’ve all flushed off a tea at some stage haven’t we boys so yep that’s that’s going to be hybrid Um 3wood me and 3wood aren’t pals again where where I used to play over in Leven I I never needed one H leavein as you know it’s kind of very much backwards and forwards So it’s a lynx type golf course and depending on which way the wind was blowing you needed everything off the tea or you needed nothing off the tea threewood never ever made sense to me Um and every time I’d pull it out and this this is definitely a me thing because I didn’t play all that often Didn’t really get that many reps in I’d look down it just wouldn’t quite give me the feeling that I wanted But a one iron or two iron no bother at all I can I can play that really quite easily Um so threewoods going to be bend Um mini driver is going to be the boy Um so R seven quad Again this goes back to I used to have a tailor made uh super quad TP TP driver This was kind of early on in my in my sort of career in golf and I absolutely loved it Yeah
Um and I only changed because I I was given a new one Um but I it was it’s one of those drivers and I think you kind of look back to some of the older product that you liked it and why would you change it i only changed it because I was given a new one Yeah But it was one of those ones I wish I’ kind of kept a hold of it and still it still wouldn’t be in the bag but u it’s one of those things that would create nice to look back again
We seen you hit this earlier It was actually quite impressive when you got the weights forward
Well yeah I so as soon as I put the weight a little bit further forward this you know there’s the speed pocket technology so there’s a bit of life kind of we bit kind of life forward in the head Um I’m just going to play this one on a standard neck setting so I don’t need to it’s 11.5 head Um I don’t need to loft down anymore Um sticking with Obin Um so a devotion uh 7505
There’s a theme with the low spin here
Yeah let’s keep this just take it down take it down the way a little bit
Um in the driver I’ve got really well with this Um this has been
really really solid So GT2 Um I need something that launches lower but I’m not dafted that I need something that is really forward weighted that is going to kill me
Um so GT2 8° of loft Again I’m just going to just going to play it straight in at A1 Um I’ve previously used uh 8° drivers kind of lofted down the way Don’t just don’t play enough golf to really sustain that all the time but I still don’t need loft because I’m the one who imparts quite a lot that launch Um I’m going to play this guy with a Diaman white board Um I’ve used white board over the years I’ve been a kind of mixture between a white board and a blue board and white white just feels a bit more stable Um the way that I swing my path generally gets a bit more to the left Uh we more sort of across it So something that’s going to kind of calm down that left hand side um is a good thing So kind of making it you know quite stiff
Still feels quite smooth though doesn’t it
yeah Uh it still it still kind of feels quite smooth It’s not a mega mega aggressive shaft but it still is at the same time
That kind of sounds a bit daff but it’s
it’s a bit it sounds like a paradox but it’s true
A little bit Yeah Um but it just it feels it feels really it feels really solid So it gives me the ball flight that I that I like to see
Um putter the last category This is the
Which Scotty are you picking
well I collect Scotty Cameron putters I’m at 33 at last count So
I’m sure your wife’s thrilled Well she’s she doesn’t really know Cut
They’re tuck They’re tuck They’re tucked away tucked away in in one of the rooms upstairs Um if it’s Newport and it’s 35 in deal me Like that’s the that’s the that’s the bulk of my collection
Um so because I don’t play all that frequently I quite like just using different putters But essentially I’m using the same putter all I’m using the same putter all the time because they’re all a very very similar weight They’re a similar same sort of look Some have got sight lines some don’t have sight lines Um I prefer the feel of a of a thinner grip So Scotty Cameron Studio Design grip Um I I get an awful lot more feel with that one
Um the ones that tend to kind of make it into the rotation Um again it it’s older stuff Um I’ve got a Scotty Cameron milspec So this is a kind of circa 2000 Um it’s a kind of carbon steel They called it a kind of pro platinum finish That’s the one that I I really really like the look of Um I had it refinished years ago at Titlist
Um I love it It’s really really good
You got any of the GSS ones german stainless steel
yes of course I have Um so the the ones that would that would kind of go into that rotation Um the Newport Milspec Again another one This is a kind of late ’90s one Um a Newport oil can I just love the look of that It’s a it’s a sort of chocolate brown color now Um it’s kind of it’s aged really quite nicely Um again it’s got that studio design grip It’s a little bit little bit sort of slimmer No sight line on on that one Um so I just accept I’m not going to have a great putting day then But it looks good doing it Feels really nice Ah kid on kid on I know what I’m doing Um if I get a we bit adventurous I have uh an original Scotty Cameron Futura putter that can make that can make making a sort of appearance from time to time
How the hell was that ever Scott
well grand
again Really really really quite like that Um I’ve got some Terrillian putters Um I’ve I’ve got sort of inspired by David Duval which which kind of comes in as well It’s like a Newport Beach And so the the putter is the thing that’s like the revolving door I just like to I just like to play with different ones I’m going to tell your wife to check that room She’s not allowed to go into
No just keep that keep that to a side
What about golf ball
uh Prov1 used I’ve used Prov1 forever Um like the feel of it like the feel around the green I like how it putts Um so it’s again we talk about this all the time It’s the green back the way it does what I want around the green but it kind of launches and spins properly when I get back to the tea as well So
there you go Good
That’s the golf bag
We just need to get you on the golf course now
Well one day Well thank you very much to everybody watching Some of James’ tales there about his putters and his golf clubs If you want to come in for a fitting session yourself and see what clubs are going to work perfect for you in your golf bag head over to the website at sgt.co.uk And for more golfing content please like and subscribe to the channel Thanks [Music]
