MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – Thousands of dollars are headed to western North Carolina to help the golf and hospitality industries impacted by Hurricane Helene nearly a year ago.
Play Golf Myrtle Beach raised $20,000 to help those still recovering and rebuilding from the storm.
Play Golf Myrtle Beach hosted an auction with Golf Tourism Solutions members to raise money.
Golf Tourism Solutions members donated over 60 experiences, ranging from rounds of golf to beachfront stays for the auction that ran through June 1.
All the proceeds from the auction were donated to Carolinas Golf Course Superintendents Association Hurricane Disaster Relief Fund, NC Hospitality Workers Relief Fund and National Golf Course Owners Association.
“On behalf of the National Golf Course Owners Association (NGCOA), I want to express our heartfelt thanks to the Myrtle Beach golf community for the success of the recent auction,” said Jay Karen, NGCOA’s CEO. “This industry is incredible. The funds raised through this initiative will provide vital support to golf courses in North Carolina who were severely impacted by Hurricane Helene.”
