Padraig Harrington won the US Senior Open on Sunday, but golf fans are still talking about his disagreement with Roger Maltbie after his second round on Friday.

Harrington reigned supreme at Broadmoor Golf Club this week, and lifted the US Senior Open trophy after besting Stewart Cink by a solitary shot.

However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the Irishman in Colorado this week.

Harrington shared a heated exchange with Roger Maltbie on Friday afternoon, with the 53-year-old unhappy with the NBC on-course commentator for not helping him look for his ball on the 15th hole during round two.

Both men refused to back down, although some were questioning why the three-time major champion thought it was Maltbie’s responsibility to help him find his golf ball.

So what has happened since the initial disagreement on Friday afternoon?

What Padraig Harrington said to Roger Maltbie after animated spat

Harrington narrowly missed out on lifting the trophy at the Senior PGA Championship by a single shot last month, but he got his own back with a win at Broadmoor Golf Club this week.

He will be delighted after winning his second senior major championship – both of them US Opens.

However, how has he left things with Maltbie?

It seems like Harrington has taken a really mature approach to the situation.

And the Irishman has allegedly apologized to the five-time PGA Tour winner turned on-course commentator.

One of Maltbie’s fellow golf analysts – Mark Rolfing – has provided information on the current state of play between the two.

He said: “FYI , everyone, all is good! Harrington has apologized to Roger and Rog has fully accepted.“

Fair play to Harrington for doing that. In all honesty though, what he was saying to Maltbie on Friday did seem to be a little harsh.

Padraig Harrington one of golf’s greatest champions

With the controversy involving Maltbie now well and truly behind him, Harrington can celebrate his second US Open victory.

The Irishman has to be considered as one of golf’s greatest champions now, if he wasn’t already.

He has two Open Championships, a PGA Championship, two US Senior Open Championships and 42 professional wins worldwide to his name.

Harrington was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame last year, and rightly so.

He is a credit to the sport, although he proved in Colorado this week that even the best of human beings have off days sometimes.
