to match her full set of irons and wedges and she said she’s been getting more spin because of it boy will you need it now straight down wind she wants to land this 80 yards have it run to the 90 [Music] respecting it we saw Bream fly through yeah but to be fair to Helen Bream I mean took a big bounce and just I mean yeah but Bream’s been struggling with spin this week she’s been working on getting more spin i was thinking more spin with your height i thought it would be totally the opposite houston’s made for this type of shot she’ll just flight it down like a pitch and run she’s only had one par today Alice Houston and even she’s befuddled by that that wind is pumping out there well yesterday on the back n Helen Breen started Birdie Eagle she could do with something similar today although this is going a long way right well that’s the bail isn’t it back into a stiff wind there’s water all the way down the left which she nearly went into yesterday i think that might have been on her mind there just dropped a shot at 12 Cara Bernat but inside the top 10 impressive performance from the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion first time playing on the L outside of Spain and she is the best ranked player from the wrong side of the draw there is a distinct difference her and Bronty Law are really the only ones that are inside in fact Bronty’s just inside the top 20 now
oh my goodness well there’s Bright and there’s where Calfman has just gone late early was not the place to be this week anna Foster Q school graduate putting together a very nice round of golf she’s a fourth place now without birdie at 134 under par nice way to warm up for your national open she’s not had a top 10 yet on the Eddie T Foster so bit few holes coming up for her [Music] nice play it’s stamped down at the back of that ninth green from a few of the fans so we saw Bream with a a lush light and Houston was stamped down there well they haven’t got the crowds necessarily within this uh final group although there are plenty of spectators around but nothing like the crowds you’re seeing for Esa Henselide and the group with Calfman and Bream in it local support for the German players but Shannon is in a totally commanding position here on the bottom of the step here this flag is 32 on that first third of the putt’s quite steep but then it’s downhill downwind as it gets on top even with that UPS slope you want to imagine that this is a flat put little push there she’s hold out brilliantly so far today shannon Tad Garvey now tied for second with the four iron going for the par five in two here on the 11th 474 yds need a bounce that’s one impressive performance from her so far today just the one birdie no drop shots from the Kiwi just need some good vibes something to take to the back nine anna screen it’s been a miserable day so far so hard to get settled because the wind is coming into her back now and this is a right to left put but you wonder will the wind affect it or not straight left there yeah you were saying Green Monster has been rather sleepy the first three days but it’s more than woken up on Sunday just south of Hamburg caught the Green Lobster by rock legend Alice Cooper of all people out in 43 worst nightmares that she could have envisaged really and a streak feel in the final group there’s one person that falls away and you just don’t want it to be you and it’s understandable you know she’s playing alongside Alice Houston that’s won a couple of times and Alice hasn’t been in great form but she’s all right in this position and Shannon Tan week in week out that she’s there and then you add to that
well he just he’s just seen the scorecard of Anna the screen hasn’t he you add to that the situation and then this wind i mean not even this puts easy for Tam pushed it again
well there you go first mistake from the leader it’s hardly damaging it’s a five shot lead down to four but after single putting more than half the greens on this front nine she throws in a three putt right at the end just to throw a few doubts into the mind those strokes will throw some doubts into your mind
maybe it’s I’m on the green now i’ll just two put this one and she’s been a bit careless with it mentioned how many times she’s had to get up and down that one almost felt like oh this is an easy par let’s move on to the 10th it’s not turned out that way level path for the day Esther Henselite she showed last week in Texas tough conditions tough golf course she’s up for the challenge that is a hard pin to get close to landed on a down slope and downwind yeah you want to smile about that one alice Houston and Shannon Town have got something in common haven’t they yes they both won their first ever Ladies European tour event both in Africa
both in Africa south Africa for Alice Houston and then Kenya for Shannon Tan out in 40 look at that runner bogeies there she probably doesn’t feel like she’s done that much wrong eden B into 10 she’s got a P a day to hang on to your hats and a day to hang on to your score fair to say there’s been carnage at Green Eagle for this final round of the Amundi German Masters so many players struggling one or two progressing anna Foster putting together a fabulous round the Irish woman looking for her first le top 10 tan’s lead is now four [Music] and it looks like Lean Pa has got used to the uh the old clubs returning yeah the first two days no clothes no clubs no problems and then ne yesterday she shot over par but back to it today lean Pace
and Vanie Kapoor you saw her name there on the first page she’s won four times this year on the Indian tour hasn’t yet teed it up on the le come over top 10 there’s Cara Bernat yeah we’ve mentioned this is not a golf course to try and find your game it requires ball striking off the tea into the greens you’re not going to hit all the greens so then you got to get your short game on song [Music] it is actually Kapor’s third start of the season but she has missed two cuts in the last couple of weeks here’s Calfman who was in the thick grass it see managed to get it into the bunker well he said third shot but I’ve got to question that well it looks tame enough from up here doesn’t it looks like a lovely summer’s sunny day it’s It is windy out there and And it’s Well it’s not come out of nowhere cuz that’s This is what we should have had every single day but you arrive at the golf course you’re warming up it should be a crosswind on the practice ground there was nothing you
guys need to move no issue and then you turn up on that first te it’s like “Oh hang on a minute.” Simon getting the traffic organized northern Irishman on the bag of Shannon Tan is actually cing for Hannah Green
last season this tea box down the left which kind of brings into your ey line those trees there can’t feel the wind as much it’s into from the left hand side but it can easily push you out to the right which is why I think we’ve seen some players go down there 326 yds so the women will be carrying the water with their T-OT or if the guy’s laid up oh there’s water left get down it has into the hazard she knew straight away there
oh dear player who has hit more fairways than any other player on tour this season has missed that one by a long way let’s just see this start line here drops it slightly under and then it starts left of the TV tower in the distance and it’s curling left thought yesterday she she missed a couple to the right
maybe that’s on a mind also when you’re trying to keep the ball down into the wind even with a driver you can smother it a bit you can close that face and that’s what Shannon Tan did there well that’s the safe side to go although I think that might have hit the car path i’ve just seen it bounce
okay that’s all right
just
that’s it the the carry over the water if you push it is
it’s like 225 but it’s into she’s still getting treatment hannah screen’s getting some treatment we understand so uh she’s not even on the tea yet just to add
well Amelia Garve has got this for Eagle shannon Town with problems behind and I think that secures birdie number two of the day so the lead now is down to three and Shannon with some issues at the par five there’s hensite for birdie on 12 good solid putt there gets the four under part well at at the beginning when we came on air Sophie I said the history of the Amundi German Masters has taught us to expect the unexpected i think we’re getting a little bit more of that thrown in today meets no it’s the easiest hole on the golf course it’s I need to make birdie because I’m not going to have much more opportunity out there especially because of how hard it is she stays at level par and a screen has been getting some treatment but ready now to tee off at this par five she manages a a lower back issue constantly does Hannah so might have been that just keep it right of that TV tower another one down that right flag another one who just about clears the trouble but do you think on the the first few days they could hit Threewood overall that they were even thinking about the water here’s Carla Bernat at the par three 14 pole there’s a touch
that’s unbelievable from long left there mark’s out of 10 for that one
10
yeah talent there is some real talent well the media Garvey has tapped in one would assume then if she’s got to eight under to get within three
yeah she has tapped in [Music] that one to go down the slope [Music] yeah big holes for the likes of Anna Foster Theresa Mallet for Foster it would mean you know you can go into your national championship next week pretty much with your tour calm for next season secure for Mleta a chance to win your basically win your full playing rights if she can finish top five and going into next week for Anna we saw it with Lauren Walsh last year missing the court there’s there’s a lot to do people are asking for passes sometime you’re playing Dublin isn’t it
yeah exactly that
I think Hannah’s screen might even be staying with Anna Foster next week
imagine going there thinking well my job’s secure
i can kind of enjoy this bit now
12th T box Garvey with a fairway wood just needs to carry the bunker on the right hand side here at 225 it’s all downwind well she’s the one at the moment who is amongst the leaders putting the round of the day together
and she’s got this two iron and four iron that she can hit and really flight it so it’s not affected as much by the wind what i don’t think I can director how can they see a splash they said he saw the middle the water i mean if I’m only going off what well we saw it didn’t we
yeah they’re just seeing where it went in where did it cross over the line in there okay thank you
um what’s the option
i’ll come back
so she’s got to go back to the tea
yeah cuz she’s not carried it has she cuz the long lonely walk back to the tea just to confirm what we saw and what the decision was because the the cardi Simon Cory was always asking did it bounce and then go in cuz if it had bounced outside of the red lines then she wouldn’t have had to drop it that she could possibly drop it on this tea box instead of going all the way back to the tea meanwhile on the green Helen Bream at uh 10 for Birdie and she makes a par she won’t be aware probably of what’s going on just behind Shannon going to be playing three off well not three off the tea but going to be playing three from the drop spot there I get her about yeah about 180 front so it’ll be 200 pin [Music] 57 that’s meters so she wants 187 for fivewood
then let’s go a 12 [Music] oh she’s on the green that’s the good news that’s where the good news stops not much good news today either for Cal could be for four could be for five unfortunately I can’t confirm it’s good part great P that looked like a pass fish didn’t it just looked like a T-shot went into the long grass didn’t it but we couldn’t be sure through the fairway here on 12 garvey 125 yds front left pin downwind good luck yeah that angle as well front pins downwind they are hard to find he can’t land it short and she’ll be in that bunker oh five shot lead what was it when we came on air for Shannon Tad she made some great pass today this will top the line if she walked off with a four here well they’ve used the yardage book to work out the number that she wants for a fivewood back into the wind this is not a fivewood green Richard this is tiny and her mind’s got to be racing now the short P missed the three putt at nine then the T-shot to sort of compound the error here at 10
well it’s almost those opening few holes they weren’t Shannon like but she was getting up and down she’s probably assuming that well I’ll go back to norm in a minute and it’s not it’s actually got worse she’s missed more fairways and more greens well what we’re hearing is indecisiveness you know we saw or heard Simon saying “We’re going to drop here or we’ll just have a fivewood distance.” And that was a couple of minutes ago and then suddenly she’s asking questions and like you say your head’s spinning
and she’s never really I mean this is a player who before this week had hit 91.24% of all fairways this season by far the number one driver on tour but to miss the fairway by that much here is a real shock to the system it’s there that she’s not even got looks like she’s got hybrid and this has got to be ripped into the wind from the left it’s a 11:00 wind front edge on the carry of the bunker is 172 yds into the teeth of it good swing even better goal shot how about that for a recovery from Shannon Tam just what she needed to settle things down saw Anna Foster chip up here this third par so third bogey of the day she has had four birdies like missing the green here on 13 delicate missed a landing spot there by a yard needed to carry it that much further there 90 yards to the front edge 110 pin oh that was thick just grabbed the huzzle and turned it over there even reached its 90 yds there for Houston and look at the difference and well maybe Hannah screen needs a bit of look she’s avoided that rough and she’s in that first second cut well the graphic is going to say birdie putt here isn’t it yes [Applause] two ps of rug 35 yds deep that green and had most of it there back bunkers are in play here for Green going for it in two sit [Applause] up a hole garvey [Music] lengthy birdie look how far back she had to hit that and was overdone it caddy Jamie was right behind that just checking the line as it went past the hole it’s going to affect every single shot that you hit out there even on these short puts call up for par on 14 would be some up and down
brilliant going to be a real talent she told me early this week she is going to turn pro after the AIG Women’s Open she’s got an invite to the Canadian Open on the LPGA tour another [Music] bogey unfortunately for Esther Henselite so back to level power for the day at 13 ellen Sudo one of our leaders in the first few days level par at the moment not anymore rolls that one in for Birdie man on the bag again for her every puck really counts given her position outside the top 80 on the rankings been too lucky with their lies in the last couple of holes here for Houston well after round one we had 38 players under par
we’ve now got 17 i wonder where we’ll finish could be single figures and it’s got to stay at four under [Music] that’s a couple isn’t it that she’s been down on her horn she’s just thinking “Oh one more roll it’s tiring out there.” Yeah it’s a long walk
so physically a walk between Greens and TE’s and then mentally it’s testing the players big time just ask from the right hand side of the fairway it wedge into here downhill left to right for a three [Music] she’s got to say to herself I am one of those that are under par now and sometimes the refresh of the back nine can help this is an important put for Garvey it was a good part but it’s going to be a drop shot first of the day so the lead is back to four shots for Shannan albeit the Singaporean has got a fairly lengthy par of her own to come at 10 and here it is [Music] there’s confirmation that drop shot from Garvey back alongside Bream or whether Bream’s got an eagle chip to come at 11 there could be a lot of changing going on here throughout the afternoon well judging by the opening three holes of this back nine you’re right there’s going to be some variation this one’s slow moving from right to left see that clean golf ball that she looks at no spots on it no line just the bright white dimples shining back at her a cup from right to left and hit it well a great attempt to try and save par but it’s back to back bogeies for Shannon Tan the lead will be back to three albeit head bream will be eyeing up a birdie at 11 you talk about in this position it’s trying to stay in the moment and stay calm and not have any of those situations where you’re startled your heart rate races and the push put on nine and then that t-shirt on 10 you suddenly start questioning yourself still leading still with a nice little cushion at the top at 10 under although that might be a little tighter in a moment [Music] no 60 lip out well I wonder what a difference that will make at the end of the day
mark that one down i wouldn’t want to be on the end of that hay maker there she was ready to fist pump that one that’s incredible houston for her part at 10 [Applause] couple [Applause] of PS to start the back n it was a pass save at the last half for calman out of the running as far as uh local hopes of winning this Mundy German Masters title but you can’t say the same about her compatriate Helen Bream who is not long ago five shots of drift of Shannon Tan now just two back the teenage talent from Germany lurking it’s going to be a fun ride isn’t it this back n around Green Eagle [Music] when I say fun ride Sophie I meant I meant for us as opposed to for the players
a bumpy ride imagine lose this for all four days i don’t think I’ve ever seen Shannon Tan lose a golf ball before
no can Hang’s 69 getting better by the minute tied 49th at the start of the day 16 years of age the rookie from Canada name to keep an eye out for played the US Women’s Open a few weeks ago this is straight down wind garvey’s got driver high draw oh my word that’s front edge we understand that was uh the provisional T-shot for Amelia Garvey but they think they found the first so she won’t need that one alice Houston may well be hitting a provisional here as well she’s into the thick stuff that’s a penalty area and it bounced so that would be a drop up there
did it bounce
if it Yeah I think it did
i mean as in terms of where the line is
yeah the line’s very close to the high reads i’ve been down there
okay remember this a par five played the easiest hole on the course this week 306 yds runs out to that waist bunker that’s right as well and wet just doesn’t look like screen can get through the golf ball off that right hand side onto a left she did have some treatment we heard after nine holes yeah not a day where you need any kind of uh injury to hamper you it’s tough enough as it is 474 yds par five water right dog leg from right to left driver for Tab [Music] that’s going down that right side but that’s very nice back on track have to hit the fairway on 12 if you’re going to stop it by that front pin need as much height and spin as possible downwind with that second shot
we’re in the uh northern part of Germany here just south of Hamburg new venue for the Ladies European tour so yes the T-shot that we saw from Garvey was her provisional this is where her original T-shot finished [Music] one of the rookies on tour but does have plenty of experience behind her
she does she came second in the women’s amateur at Royal County down she’s played on the Epson tour for many years foster the rookie on the le birdie here [Music] that was on 15 there downhill left to right [Applause] she was saying when she came through QC score one of eight Irish players now on tour there was a homecoming party for her after she qualified she said she felt like a celebrity the welcome she got and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of those people at Carton House next week [Music] just needed a bounce to the left and that would have released to the cup there on 13 well there’s been good crowds here all week even on Thursday morning when the rain was coming down they were there for Esther Henelite who’s a bit of a local celebrity herself shannon Tan’s a big deal in Singapore she has broken through the barriers as far as women’s golf in that part of Asia is concerned the first player from Singapore to win on the ladies European tour and this is how she did it [Music] smooth as silk by Tam [Music] excellent for really is [Music] history maker trailblazer ladies European tour winner Shannon Tan and Singapore have arrived on the le it’s tantastic for Shannon and that was on her very first start on the ladies European tour she followed that win last season with a second and three other top 10s she finished sixth on the order and she’s right back in sixth place on the standings again albeit she has yet to lift another trophy since that victory back in February 2024 [Music] [Applause] oh yeah [Applause] so she’s taking the drop alice Houston it’s
been a quiet start to the year for Alice Houston
it has yeah she got married at the end of last year to her husband Steven and finishing like she moved back to the UK back to the northwest so she normally lives in the middle of England so she has to find herself a new golf course etc etc there’s a lot going on off the course really this is a chopped down fivewood see how close to the front edge you can get that’s left boom so close to making eagle at 11 second day in a row had to settle for Birdie now at 12
can she stop it that’s good everybody that’s gone after that pin seems to be long helen Bream thought “No I’m going to take it right a bit leave it on the bottom level.” This hybrid served the well on 10 shannon from 211 needs to draw take that from there helen Green Country garvey to bounce back from the drop at the last [Music] had a couple of rookie winners this year mimi Roads three titles garvey’s now good friend Darcy Harry picking up the Hulen court women’s open [Applause] rookies tend to do well on the ladies European tour in recent years tambellini the latest last year to win the rankings and this is a player that makes you stop in your tracks on the practice ground ball speeds of 160 made a great save at 14 bernat trying to do the same here at 15 just couldn’t should have been representing Europe in the Vagliano trophy this week in Netherlands they took on GBNI gbni won so maybe the uh European team needed her 20 years since GBNI last won the Vagian trophy they had a good team 20 years ago didn’t they
they had a great team
who was in that team years ago uh me
you were in there by the way that was a birdie putt that Carla Bernette had so it wasn’t a drop shot that was uh to pick up one
and we’ll see a few of those players next week won’t we over in Ireland lotty W will be teeing up as well carla on Donigan will play in it uh amongst a few others as well 100yard bunker shot for Hannah screen caught it well just moving across this screen it’s a diagonally sitting green you can’t play up it which makes it easy to just take it down that right hand side that we saw screen and Shannon Tan do that was a fourth for Hannah Green this is the second for Calfman coming from the rough no chance there well even downwind’s proving hard now good despair you know this is your birdie hole
well she’s struggling to make par now well she’s played four hasn’t she so
the whole They’ll be busy today won’t they the referees with all these drops
don’t move off that car but fair play to Jamie Canel their tournament director you know one or two may be saying “Well the course a little too short at times but this is the kind of weather they’re expecting and this is the kind of damage the green monster can do.”
Double breaker here for Calfman [Music] [Applause] from where Houston was she had the most narrowest of landing points now has got two thirds of this to carry over the sand then to the pin with it being back into the wind that will help her that’s a great shot of what she’s got left there just couldn’t get the height there are a few players being blown away here in this last day in Germany amongst them a
nine bogey for inchite back to back chipping for park [Applause] there she is in page she must be tempted to walk in hannah screen no no way green for birdie close again one of those days you just got to hang around alan Broom’s doing that pretty well so far short game’s been very tidy so far today in general an anxious sit you will listen she’s got that for Birdie and it will be a welcome one look at this puff of the cheeks there
well yet to have a birdie in this final round it’s been her lack of bogeies this week that have been so impressive well
she’d only had three before today she’s had two in the last two holes those ice creams look nice didn’t they yeah vanilla please if anyone’s listening poor Houston zigzagged her way down this hole right off the tea and it was wet left with a third right with a fourth called it army golf then [Music] go well it’s the easiest hole on the golf course it’s a bogey but it ends up looking like quite a good one there for Houston but she falls back another shot two under look at that run can’t get off the bogey train one or two need to pull their finger out here and make a push down this back nine get those points on the board garvey opted to go long there you feel sad don’t you really just you know her golf over the last month deserves more than this in the spotlight it does and you know back pain for golfers is a a common thing there’s been a lot of traveling recently important pup for Shannon Tan it’s been 10 holes of grinding and suddenly a golden chance for a first birdie of the day solid great bounce back there that’s the area of the game that she’s been working hard on trying to get her eyes more over the ball last week was many hours spent doing that and when it comes good when you need it it’s worth it great birdie there on 11 well no one has picked up the hole in one prize on offer here at 14 not yet at least
with this pin good luck
yeah safe only 55% of the field have hit the green on 14 it’s a slither
well Lean Pace had to play two rounds of golf this week without her clothes well she played with clothes but not her clothes without her clubs it hasn’t stopped her sitting in fourth position on the leaderboard here putting together one of the rounds of the day four under par good enough for fourth on her own [Music] ella Breen three back now of Shannon Tan 13th T just a hybrid needed push the T forward here every day at this dog leg right to left and that is position A don’t have much in from there well there you go look at this since she turned professional last July we’ve hardly seen her outside the top five on the Ladies European Tour more than 50% of her starts a couple of them as an amateur have been in the top five of the Ladies European Tour this is her 15th start it will be her ninth top five should she finish where she is right now although she’d love to go one better just Shannon Tan above her on the leaderboard and Singaporean is a whole further back at 12 [Music] okay that’s sitting okay another fairway missed i was just not used to doing that [Music] you see this hole sweeps from left to right those bunkers 217 past the one on the right so should be comfortably past it for Houston they’re not really the problem let’s have a look at uh this swing of Alice Houston they’ve now got 14 garvey down the slope [Music] she’s played such steady golf the last couple of days yesterday just one birdie one bogey today two birdies and just the one bogey great shot there to a back pin by Foster it’s on the 16th par five similar equation for Melet she would have learned a little from that puck from Garvey [Music] so good about this hole is you think well I can’t be short on 14 i’ll be wet if you go through the back they could have easily have shaved down you know made it almost fairway so you could spin it back down the bank but they’re like “No no there is literally nine yards of green to land it in there.” Our first look today at Dig Shidagger all the way back now at one under par two over par for her round today this is her third into 15 so the 15th is a par five 16 and 18 using the bank there theresa Malinska she said actually after yesterday’s round she was looking forward to to a battle she was expecting a tough battle this week and that’s what she was prepared for and she shown her fighting qualities today hasn’t she hanging tough boyfriend on the bag there Thomas bernat is level part from right to left here on 16 to get to this back left pin sit great shot anything holding a back pin there is some strike
she’s pro ready isn’t she Carla Bernette
yeah yeah she is she’s uh one of those young talents that are coming from Spain
whereas like Helen Bream you know didn’t expect to turn professional as early as she did in fact I was reading an article today where she said she hadn’t actually watched golf on television before last year so she’s missed years of us Sophie chatting away
not a bad thing they watch it on Instagram now television isn’t a thing i’m sure she’s looked at some sort she’s more into the the winter sports big uh skiing fan bia fan this pin has been at the back of this green all week and it has been a hard one to get close to 55% of the field have hit this green and that’s why you’re chipping onto a down slope and it’s downwind and from 50 yards rooms missed it lyn Grant was similar wasn’t she she didn’t watch golf she was equestrian that she was into
yeah Ling Grant still doesn’t watch golf that’s my problem i watch too much
you love it you love it driver
don’t be too frightened of us okay there’s a lot of room okay you can’t reach the counter that’s just the one we’re hitting okay okay the wind from the northwest today off the tea on 15 which means that bunker that Garb is aiming at is 286 y run out into some wind swing it over 110 miles per hour though really good that’ll do you
yeah i mean this is the green monster but I keep saying she’s the ball speed monsterite in green just avoided the tree there this her third shot at the park 51 15th trying to chase one up one executed 90 y in there landed that 65 okay
off the right tree
yeah correct not sure flew this one yesterday pitched it too far got herself a flyer has to play away from a front left pin take it over the right edge of the bunker away from the tree trying to get some spin on this wedge oh does what a strike that is nobody has done that from the semi- rough except for Shannon Tan
we’ve seen some struggle to do that from the fairway she keeps going on about these new shafts in her wedges i’ve got them shafts in my wedges and that doesn’t happen that and this would be quite a nice comparison I suppose to see Houston from the fairway bit closer still got the wedge pins nine on seven from the left in that front quarter oh she lands it in the front and it stops think she’s landed it in the ups slope on the fringe there that’s a good lead chuckle there to a caddy Rory but nobody’s finished there before lovely shot in from Anna Foster try and complete the job here at 16 brilliant up to a share of fourth place now by the Irish woman
yeah it’s part of a a nineplayer team that is receiving funding from Irish government €33,000 they’re getting per year [Applause] there little bit of work still to do for her part missed a couple of good birdie looks hasn’t she of three successive ladies European tour event playing in Ireland next week and then at the Evian Championship of the AIG Women’s Open as well to come might be this windy at Royal Pool This is a gentle breeze down in South Wales just hope it’s not like the Men Senior’s open
well that wasn’t just the wind that was brutal rain as well make this a beautiful blue sky out there just stepped out it’s a warm but it’s gusty it’s blowing and then there’s gusts that are coming as well those flats getting plenty of action what happens is it dries the golf course out as well so the greens start firming up yeah they’re hoping the Ryder Cup might come here in a few years time 2035 they’re going to make a bid they’re building a new course we’re on the north course they’re building the south course right now being built by Jeremy Sleser at European Golf Design uh alongside the owner of Green Eagle Michael Blesh he reckons there could be they could fit in not that I’m saying they’ll have this many but they could fit in 150,000 spectators around that course such as the room i don’t think you you want that many people following four groups yeah you do to get to three under stayed straight on her it’s been the hardest hole on the golf course this week 12 so Pal’s not too bad there for Houston [Applause] well she’s brought about some of the biggest cheers of the week test the hens tonight nothing given there though washi bogid nine and 10 birded 11 and this for another birdie on 12 to get back to level park shannon this for a five shot lead [Music] [Applause] this is stage 11 under B closest challenger at minus eight one of the Germans that was in contention at the start of the Carolyn Calfman [Applause] been working with Marijan Mustach coach for the past year and see their game improve dramatically from that new relationship well every birdie is warmly greeted dagger gets one there to get to two under her third of the day
that’s excellent she was three over through five holes she’s now back to one over for the day inside the top 10 a day where the green monster has certainly bitten back and Helen Bream with work to do to make sure of her part well done well when we came on air we said it was a three-way battle and there’s been nothing so far that changes that but all credit to Leanne Pace clubs didn’t arrive clothes didn’t arrive at the start of the week she’s just posted a final round 70 matching her finish if she finishes in fourth that she pulled off in Korea a month or so ago had a top 10 recently on the LPGA tour as well augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion Carla Bernat sitting inside the top 10 but right at the top it’s Shannon Tan by three from Helen Bream with rookie from New Zealand Amelia Garvey just a stroke further behind word or two as well for Vanny Kaport first cut made this season on the LE looks like it’s going to result in a top 10 heat [Music] heat [Music] new Zealand’s Amelia Garvey just trying to control this shot down into 15 laying up keeping it down the left hand side it’s probably driver wedge wedge for her $50,000 worth of luxury designer furniture for a hole in one here spin with that pin you should credit it for hitting the green that 14th hole is scary [Music] our leader Shannon Tan trying to draw around this 13th hole she leads by four ideal there she’ll be hoping that the the adventures have ended now and she’ll go back to that boring golf that she’s been talking about for the past two years shantel try and stay out of all of this water 17 holes around the green eagle carry water the first dozen i was like “Oh this is an okay start.” There’s three fur trees top left of our screen that’s the line here for Houston wind down off the right [Music] [Applause] day to test your patience but Houston despite all the bogeies still very much inside the top 10 [Music] pretty [Applause] good T-shotss there [Music] oh we’re now down to 14 players under part for this championship here’s one anna Foster 17th hole here 14 on five from the right front right pin straight back into the wind that’s fine [Music] the first time the ladies European tour have been here where close to the north sea the Ela River runs through the city [Music] crosswind here on 15 there’s a slope you can use to the right of the pin to bring it back oh he’s going to go straight after it throwing darts there Garvey she’s got that left for Birdie well she is very much in it amelia Garvey just played the par 314th and earlier this week the defending champion got to play it a few times in the Seb world challenge [Music] green Eagle Golf Club Mastersity yeah kids [Music] driver okay yeah [Music] okay okay [Music] [Applause] sit sit sit sit yeah they’re passing yeah and now [Music] Morish store the uh from Seb world there who got to choose the clubs for seat version it’s a hard enough hole using the right club never mind having to go with a driver and the like
well she did hit the green with a driver just to stay on it this is the 13th a downwind pitch shot for Houston it’s caused their trouble pitching downwind today another one through the back flumxed [Music] 35 on 14 from the left see how she’s just aiming left with her feet there trying to fade this one in that’s thin get down is it not the clicking going well shannon Tan she won’t even know she’s doing it won’t even know she’s clicking [Applause] well here is that 14th up on top carolyn Calfman come on superb that back edge where that pin is cut there is only 12 yds six short six long of it foster just off the green butting for birdie here at 16 [Applause] five birdies today for two under that’s a cracking score in this wind as with this t-shirt was absolutely pure boged it yesterday tried ever so hard to birdie it there yesterday on 13 and 14 she came unstuck you saw a fourshot swing on those two holes between her and Shannon Tan so a couple of good pars there by Bream this is Theresa Mletka [Music] playing with Amelia Garvey who is very much still in this cal to try and complete the up and down here at 14 another shot goes one of those who has struggled today no birdie six over for the round now and it’s Houston another one in that cab she’s six over for the day as well this is to try and claw one back back in the stance see how she could drive it through there because of the wind the wind’s even affecting the chips right now [Music] saying this a lot power up down at 13th green you can see the 14th there was beyond yesterday she held one from the back edge with a putter now she’s got the wedge out well she’s got up and down so well in general this week but at the wrong moment just gets tangled up there at the back of 13 here’s her closest challenger Helen Bream well if Garvey couldn’t hit that bunker at 290 I don’t think Bream will be either these are the two longer hitters on the ladies European court well she needed a break down there looks like she might have caught one
yeah just short of those thistles slightly healed there stayed down that left hand side it’ll only be a layup garvey to join Bream at 8 under par she’s closing in remember three bat tan with work to do behind lusher than she thought with that chip there from Shannon Tan and this is woefully short here’s the flat stick to help her out here [Music] not to be a drop shot so the lead is back to two but it’s from two in other words both Helen Bream and Amelia Garvey breathing down her neck and it’s funny isn’t it i mean I know Shantan has and I think you’ve picked up on it increased in length but she’s a very different golfer to the likes of Bream and Garvey
well that’s why this golf course is setting up so good because you’ve got the two longest hitters on tour tied for second then you’ve got the precision golfers in Shannon Tan Lean Pace either side of that even Vani Kapoor suits anybody that’s striking the ball well it’s not just about how far it’s going woohoo
beautiful there by Esther Henselite well it looks like we’re going to be in for a tense finish green Eagle Shannon Tan has been leading the way all day at one point after eight holes her lead was five the narrowest it’s got is two shots which is where we stand right now her third bogey has taken her back to 10 under garvey with the birdie at 15 alongside Helen Bream eight under and then they’re playing for places aren’t they really anna Hang just inside the top 50 at the start of the day now firmly inside the top 20 [Music] [Music] charlotte back with an excellent performance two amateurs making the cut the German from Arizona State with a closing 71 one of the best rounds of the day another disappointing weekend you have to say for Sophia Kibscore nielson right up there at halfway just slipping back over the weekend vani Pashant Teenage Indian with a closing level par round of 73 [Music] leader in the clubhouse is Leanne Pace Sophie and this is how she finished up at 18 pin hanging off the left hand side here pace using the contours looking to try and bring it back yeah at this point she’d had an eagle and three birdies on the card couple of drop shots as well but this was for a round of 69 which would have equaled the best of the day for Anna Huang but at the age of 44 she’s looking as good as ever even if she doesn’t even have her own clubs
well this would be her 56 top 10 on the Ladies European tour and just nothing seems to bother her at the moment she is a very happy woman both on and off the golf course and other than the hiccup yesterday of that 76 look at that 7270 with a rental set the driver was going left the hybrids were going right the irons were weren’t graphite shafts they were too upright for her i mean and then we go on about how hard this golf course is that is some effort there by Lean B right back to the final group and this hole starting with two right away
two right away perfect 149 yds but the direct route to the pin you have to carry it 144 y to get over the water downwind and if you turn it over there like Houston did that adds another five yards of length onto it popular spot through the back there it’s the lesser of two evils it’s one of those holes where if you can walk off with four threes this week you are doing very well [Music] that’s a great visual of it it’s like a caterpillar that just weaves around that lake actually if you’re long and right of this flag that’s a good spot to be but it would mean feeling like you’re going to push it and if you push it it normally comes up short look at that 29 on the green’s 37 so 157 to the back edge [Music] yeah that’s what I said that’s all right there impressive play for a man of screen kind of in the nothing to lose category right now whereas for Shannon Tan it’s very much all on the line
it’s not easy to judge this wind she won’t be able to feel it with the advertising boards behind her but it’s a lockdown wind so 149 getting late into the evening in her homeland of Singapore and I think everyone’s staying up for this in for a tense finish three bogeies in those last five holes good shot can’t see that when you miss the green yeah I don’t know and now it’s firming up i don’t know how you hold it i think she was in between clubs and maybe went for a smash nine iron just to make sure rather than try and feel one in there and hit it where she wanted to catch up again with Esther Henike pity ranked 21st in the world now esther she’s finished in the top 25 in all three majors this year had a couple of top 10s on last year at every Soheim Cup Olympic Silver player who is rising the rankings his 15th hole 499 yards layup hole water all the way down the right hand side in it covers the front edge as well can use the wind here though that left to right for this third shot just have it moving from that left to right to a front right pin controlled that one well one of those days where even though you’re a bundle over par just pick up a shot or two you’ll rise quickly she doesn’t waste time does she Helen Broom she’s already hit [Applause] coming back into birdie territory everything you want in a golfer takes it a long way and is quick
but she walks so slowly yet once she gets the ball patricia was saying that to us yesterday wasn’t she patricia Schmidt when she came into the box and we were saying about how there’s a Suzanne Pettisonish look about Amelia Garvey isn’t there there is there’s the the ice blue eyes isn’t there and then the the blonde ponytail carla Bernat coming towards the end of her le debut outside of Spain pin way left here on stop back to 40 good strike there it’s just one of those days when it’s so windy no shot gets close enough you feel like you’re always grinding only half the field hits this green all week and I bet it’s less than half with this pin position downwind pin thinking I don’t want to be short in the water so a popular spot for Tan here duff one on the last really she could almost play a bit of a duffing run here lob wedge look how steep that slope is just have it land on the front edge and then trickle down towards the pin keep that weight on the left side [Music] very good [Applause] yeah so many things for Shannon Tan to achieve naturally a second tour title topic events coming up evian AIG Women’s Open and they uh let’s go up to 18 again anna Foster looking to put the finishing pieces to a wonderful round of golf
inside 100 yards back into the wind come on down [Music] chipped it to here and screen so remains two over two over par right now is good enough for a share of 26th place just the 15 players under part there could be 10 by the time we finish houston’s got this for her part right to left [Music] feels like she just can’t catch a break you can hit good shots in these conditions and you won’t be rewarded opportunity here for Garvey just couldn’t hold that back edge the leader for Park lovely up and down particularly given what had happened at the last a really good three at 14 for Shannon Tan maintains her twosot lead shaman Tan is under par for the 14th hole [Music] for Birdie Helen Bream on the 15th [Music] well there are some opportunities being missed here by Helen Broom that could prove to be very expensive finished runner up in Tenneref a few weeks ago she was leading at the halfway stage in Belgium couldn’t see it through there
yeah Belgium she had two level paths over the weekend and it’s looking like it might happen again for Bream that’s what she was yesterday that’s what she is today here’s the silver medalist 148 playing 158 today just a par promise more remains two behind Shannon Tan who’s made her way onto the tea at 15 final four holes three par fives and a par three and a lot to play for for Shannon because they announced the countries that will be playing at the international crown later this year big team event seven countries taking place plus a rest of the world team now if Shannon Tan was to win here as we watch Hannah screen tea off first if Hannah if Shannon Tam were to win here I make it she would jump a bump wailing shoe in the world rankings and put herself in the rest of the world team that there’s going to be charlie Hull Lydia Cove will probably be in that team and Shannon will have the chance to tear it up and try and win the international crown with them the cut off point when it’ll be finalized that team is after the AIG Women’s Open so not long to go and that’s the first time there has been an international team in the crown isn’t it
that’s right the first time to allow players like Lydia Co who
previously wouldn’t have had the opportunity the first bunker is the line there’s more room on the right than you think even though there is water there [Applause] 499 yards won’t be going for it nobody has today well not in these last few groups she keeps her head behind the ball there and hangs back that head and then fires the left hips i mean the lines of the tea you’ve got to take now are so different than what you’ve been doing the past few days houston having to take it down the left hand side rather than over any form of water anna Foster Birdie Ped 18 do it
great effort as you could say about those 18 holes a 71 for the Irish rookie and a first ever Ladies European Tour Top 10 what a way to warm up for next week’s Women’s Irish Open that’s a terrific performance started the week 55th on the rankings she’ll be climbing right up after that a little bit of concern edging this one a little left ellen Breen it’s all good can she get home at any of these par fives Sophie no
I just don’t think she can no that one’s nearly 600 yds this 16th hole up onto the 18th hole right to left never high enough on Bernard it down yeah the 18th is 458 yards to get within one for Garvey
yeah you can understand her being bold cara Bernat oh what a disappointing end to a fine week from her should still be just about good enough for a first top 10 on the ED we shall see she finishes at one under par look forward to seeing her over the next few weeks in some of the big events to come well that’s the state of affairs it’s three players for the Mundy German Masters tan Garvey or Helen Brie [Music] come on
oh she’s got one you know four under par mleta is way outside keeping a tour card at the minute but couple of good holes to finish he’ll be all right mr hel quick put here at 17 keep turning still secure the par three if it stays there great if it drifts a bit right
if you can go left edge of it you know it’s small start line cuz the wind’s going to affect it a little bit temple hybrid for Houston laying up the wind will take this one to the right hand side it’s into as well it’s okay it’s over the bunker Alice just trying to aim it down the the tongue down that left hand side of fairway and leave yourself a good number that’s what Shannon Tan mentioned how yesterday that’s what she was doing leaving herself good yardage is in hitting her wedges well yeah good mia Garvey for her part shadowan leading the way for Singapore golf there’s no doubt who’s been leading the way for women’s golf in New Zealand lydia Cole who Amelia has had the chance to tap into her knowledge you were saying this week that she’s started hypnotherapy something that Lydia did when she was younger she’s been meditating for a while but the hypnotherapy is is way how she can she knows now she can trick her brain into thinking more positively
so she could trick her brain that it’s a calm still day today for example
yeah it’s just a a confidence thing i do feel like a a lot of the women golfers that’s their Achilles heel like believing themselves and telling themselves how good they are we always talk about staying in the moment but Amelia said she’s just started using it and you know she can’t believe how much she can trick her brain she was holding a spoon and you know just a teaspoon and she couldn’t lift it with her hands cuz it was weighing 500 lb very interesting
yeah you train your body don’t you they’re all in the gym now training their brains
and you look at her results the last few weeks 10th in Tennere then third in Belgium right up there again this week and everyone talks about taking it a shot at the time but that’s the point you can’t look in the past or you can’t look in the future else things start to go wrong especially in this moment here for Shannon Tan keep it light keep talking he’s
doing a good job there sim Cory [Music] lovely birdie at 16 from Theresa Malletka r3 17th next for her
it’s pins 14 on five from the right hand side and the leave is just short right of it could even be two clubs of wind up there now six iron there’s the shot
turn to the left
be good be good oh she knew straight off the face she’d flush that that’s going to be quick so front 27 37 [Music] 20 on 13 from the left it says it’s 37 in depth but not on the line of the pin it’s only 25 wants to favor the left hand side here houston and that’s the issue coming out of the rough there’s already a noticeable tangible that you’ve got to deal with in the wind and then if you’re coming out of an unpredictable lie as well what she would take for being on the fairway there for her third you’re guessing a bit with the wind and then I suppose you’re guessing with the lie as well [Music] when she won in Kenya it was very hot and windy she went to college in the state of Texas shannon Tan these type of conditions look like Hannah Screen’s ball nearly went in the hole there she’s left herself 90 yards a lot today into the ninth that one came up just shy start this one 5 yds left of it [Applause] that’ll do birdie look never been caught today two shots her lead here’s one of her two closest pursuers amelia Garvey at 17
get down i’m not sure where that finished meanwhile Bream into the par five 16th well I feel like she’s worked out her wedges for the first three days and and today some have released some have stopped so when it’s windy it’s really hard to to judge them anyway but that’s maybe something that’s like it’s not quite there yet she’s only been a pro 11 months it’s hard to remember isn’t it really this time last year she played this event as an amateur finished in 11th place audo who was one of the co-leaders almost flew it straight into the hole halfway leader alongside Hela Bream you’re right about Helen Bream the expectation that I suppose that we’ve had from watching her just how great she can be
cuz her potential is frightening and and really her consistency as we see Houston threaten at 15 her consistency given the fact that she’s only into the pro game 11 months is is is pretty remarkable
it is yeah i mean sometimes you somebody comes along a young player and they fire for a couple of weeks might come first second fifth but every week no matter what got all the golf courses are new to her remember that you know the staff the players everything you mentioned how she’s still studying as well at university but this is a golf game which I mean this is so cup right now like we we said it about Esther Henselite when she came out we’re going to say it about Helen Bream team the way she hits a golf ball the way she I mean she wedges it half decent a put in we keep saying “Oh it’s not quite there.” But it’s a little bit like a Scottish Sheffler i mean if she did put and gain every time she played so with strokes gain if she gained every time she played she would win cuz Ter Green it’s just incredible same could be said for Shannon Tan this year yeah but there’s an opportunity here at 15 8 under is the score closest to her is to get 11 under for Shannon Tan was on its way
it’s a slow one that
Yeah the Soheim Cup rankings been going since last October so just after after Helen Bream had won in September at Lasa but she is in the top two spots as things stand in the Soheim Cup points list Helen Bream along with Kiara Tambellini and it’s a shame that I you’ve got to take a week off but she’s taken next week off the Irish Open which is where Anna Norquist the captain will be playing and if I was Anna I’d have been saying can you pair me with her i mean they might not see each other cuz they’ll probably be about 100 yards between the T-shots but they would see each other on T and Green
they’ll see each other in Evian good save from Alice Houston is it all right uh team sorry that actually just one that fine all right bit of a wide from Theresa Metska that’s a bit of a misjudgment media Garvey’s ball did come down so she’ll be going next she’s
where it needs to be coming from
got putter in hand [Applause] [Music] it’s going to be another par for Helen Brew one birdie one bogey today great pass save at eight made a lengthy putt there it was almost a chip in for Eagle at 11 somehow it didn’t drop if you weren’t with us it poored from Neringham in Germany which is a good 600 kilometers from here she was saying earlier this week there’s probably five ladies European tour events in other countries that are closer to her home it’s a long way from New Zealand though i can tell you that much she said on this green yesterday Sophie she hit the best putt it
of her life mean something similar in here you can see where my Caddy Jamie was pointing it is 8 yards left of this pin into that shadow there it’s cut in a bowl as well so the last quarter of the putt will dip down with speed from left to right [Music] good catch from there pretty good [Applause] well she charged one past over at 12 and that ended a
three bogey trying to avoid a similar fate here can’t afford to drop one given the way given where Shannon is ahead of her been a tough day for Anastasia not really what we expected but it seven over for the round just got caught up in the conditions she came second in her last outing too many doubles two holes to play two behind Helen Breen just three birdies this weekend so far for Breen she managed three in the first three holes on Friday
seems like she’s created so many chances though [Music] good T shot by Hannah Green seven dog legs from right to left on this golf course this 15th hole 578 yds so if you do miss the fairway it is it’s a tough one to get close to in three it’s similar to what the ninth is really bit of an easier T-shot cuz the bunker on the ninth is more in play that bunker on the left is 202 yds to carry it’s 227 to the fairway on that line as well i saw her yesterday hit it there and then hit it left towards the water with a second Wind from right to left scampers through the dog leg a little ride with the first effort just to get the one back for Mleta brilliant i mean you saw boyfriend Thomas he enjoyed that big putts these for Mleta 141st on the rankings she said she hates the thought that she’s here just to make the cut she feels she can do better than that she’s showing that this weekend
she’s coming in clutch with those ps pentelite into the last i think she’s just gone splash holding her arm as well
looks discomfort there or is it just the golf shot that’s hopefully it’s just that
needs a bit of uh Mitka here does Garvey big putt for par it’s a second three putt bogey of the back nine for the Kiwi i mean when you think as that ball came down for the first put it was all left to right so that one she would have thought was right to left but the other way [Applause] absolutely delightful from Dagger [Music] almost made a one doesn’t make the two there’s only been six birdies on that 17th hole today i thought we were going to see a one there Ellena well the wind has blown and the green monster has awoken just south of Hamburg for this final round of the Amundi German Masters second bogey mean she’s saying what you were saying Sophie thinking it was going to go the other way and that might be very costly for Garvey now slips back to third place and three shots behind Shannon Tan the player from Singapore still in command her lead is two shots over Helenbury hole starting to run out [Music] just composing herself to try and visualize this golf shot here 148 yds playing into from the right hand side cailed follow through try and force it through that wind keep it down like that [Applause] that is what you call a gold shot that was top class from Helen Breen she played one in here yesterday and I was like that’s a golf shot but there just the cailed follow through stunning hybrid for Tan laying up on the par five 16th nicely done didn’t go in the water for Henselite [Music] bit of a break [Applause] got that left for a top 10 yeah that Helen Bream T-Shock it’s one of those you could watch and repeat couldn’t you for five minutes i’d love to have seen that ball fly if you’d have stood behind it water down the left hand side wind down from the right this is just a layup for position [Music] for these par fives way out of reach even for some of the big hitters like Garvey and Bream in the field shannan doing what she needs to do right now [Music] hopefully the last shot of the day for Esther Hensenite keep it down the left edge here well she had four bogeies on the back nine yesterday three today and it it’s cost her a push at the title hamburg’s finest not quite able to deliver though in front of the adoring fans this week well she just needs that club in her hand to behave over the next half an hour or so because if she can keep producing
shots like the one she hit in here to 17 she’s going to be a big danger to Shannon Tan
just look at that follow through there she’s covered it with a chest punched it through the wind came down softly i mean pin high with these conditions that shows you the talent just there penultimate hole of the championship her national championship she looks like she takes everything in a stride but she’s got to be feeling it yeah I mean they all are you can see her walking away there like taking herself away from the putt not wanting to spend too much time on it you mentioned she was a quick player she’s got two of her playing partners to go first she could have another 5 minutes before she hits that put shot it deserved round of 74 today from Dick Shadagger and that will be good enough for another top 10 finish for the Indian lefty started the week just outside the top 10 on the rankings that might push her back inside doesn’t like taking weeks off he’s got a forced week off you said he’s not got heavy and just missed out on that spot for two weeks time at the European Major channant will be there will she be there as a twotime ladies European tour champion she could have won at Evian a few weeks ago in fact she was leading by a shot with two holes to play she made a bogey kuska made a birdie and she ended up finishing in runnerup spot so she knows she needs to keep executing golf shots now try and make a birdie here on 16 that flag 34 on 11 from the left take it in with a draw aggressive play good shot yeah many of the crowds not with this final group
she might be a bit pumped up there surprised that that one went long at the pin but it stopped
adrenaline bound to be uh flowing through [Music] [Music] couple of good wedges there [Music] hasn’t had a birdie since the second hole houston lovely view towards the ferris wheel here at Green Eagle [Music] [Music] big putt for Helenbury t-shot deserves a two don’t always get what you deserve and it’s happened again and what could have been afternoon for the 19year-old German she’s missed some puts this week then it’s the important ones if you’re going to win a championship it’s those type of puts you’ve got to hold in those moments if that goes in the roar just flows down 17 back to the 16th green and it gets Shannon Tan’s attention the silence is bliss for Tan right now well it’s going to be hard to avoid that if Shannon Tan doesn’t want to look at leaderboards there’s a chance there for Bream to cut the lead to one but now Shannon Tan has this opportunity to extend the advantage to three she’s got that collar behind her if that ball was another two inches three inches closer to the hole it wouldn’t affect her so she’s going to have to alter the way that she takes the putter back and down into the ball and that’s what I mean it’s going to have to go a bit steeper she really have to worry about the speed of it but it’s how it normally comes off a bit left from that angle there first up here’s Houston this one is from right to left for our second birdie of the day [Music] yes please yeah well done it’s been a difficult day for the English player lots of bogeies but warmly greeted birdie four [Music] yeah both playing partners the English women have struggled today hannah Green also did make a birdie at the last first of the day all of this green moves down to that penalty area there so it should be downhill and from left to right here for Tan as I said it’s just that collar behind it be easy to keep that club face kind of closed to make sure that you get the right strike on it and miss it down the left hand side this is for birdie though [Applause] [Music] that dive right at the end good pop you can feel the tension in her fingertips literally with those clicks back to the 18th just the hybrid off the tea for Helen Green and that’s perfectly placed big shot there dangerous goal shot over water for Garvey into the wind with a wedge sending it right at the pin trying to bring it back [Music] well it’s out of her hands right now amelia Garvey it’s been another really good week but it looks like she’s going to come up short tough 17th hole let’s have a look at this Sophie
it’s 148 yds today and like all the par threes over water it’s hard to gauge how strong the wind is because of the trees at the back of the green and then up at that T- box it should be into from the right hand side that flag is 14 on five from the right almost to avoid that right bunker we’ve seen a few players turn it over and then the wind gets it and it goes long and left and because it’s in a bowl if you go long and left you’re not in that bowl you’re up on the high side
and you’ve got a treacherous tut yeah a bit easier the wind’s coming this way i was going to say it’s coming a little yeah yeah i
mean I know it’s a bit off the right but I still just like it left over the TV 65 swing yeah
yeah perfect me sixiron for Palace Houston another shot that’s good there cuz I mean she’s gone just left of the pit so she tried to hold a fade into a right to left wind so it comes out nice and straight all over it we won less for screen here seven iron it’s going to be a little freer now isn’t she hannah screen shannon Tanner take one of those wouldn’t she
absolutely 100% [Applause] two holes from home leading by two looking for win number two play this 162 yds wind into the right try and take the flight down [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] not sure if you can see that down there she’s not sure either problems for Theresa Mallet at 18 and this is a critical hole for her tied for fourth right now and every point rankings point that is matters for the check
that lie doesn’t sound good she’s chipping out safe here middle of the green trying to use the slope from right to left come on come on down [Music] good judgment there the situation the lie let’s get that one pin high all right
just a layup for Helen Breen [Music] well whenever there’s been life goal for Green Eagle European Open on the men’s tour here for the Mundi German Masters at Ferris will very much in view darby needs a chip in there you go go well it’ll be interested to know where that ball from Shannon Tan has gone
yeah she was looking like long and left caught that wind didn’t it we talked about the turning over of the face but she looks a bit worried well I understand it’s gone through the uh the back of the green not sure what the view is going to be like there’s the ball what’s ahead of her that’s the question miles lost
did she get a drop here if it’s line of sight then Yeah from where the ball is there’s a route all the way through to the flag get one club light she’s made some great up and downs today if you weren’t with us earlier she single putted four of the first five greens made some brilliant up and downs one at four when she had to take a drop penalty drop was a good 20 ft or so got a work cut out here
and this is over 20 yd long so she can land it around there and then there’s about eight yards before it goes down the hill but it’ll be downwind as well it’s quite unpredictable especially coming through the shadows there how firm is that green especially when there’s water beyond yeah I don’t think she’ll need to worry about that that’s a long way away it’s just leaving it you don’t want to leave it short cuz if you leave it on the top there disappointing weekend for Edenosudo such high hopes leading at halfway oh that’s a lovely way to finish for the Swede level part and that will be good enough for a top 20 finish and potentially her best ever finish on the LD at the moment tied for 14th thanks to that putt but this is where the action really is shannon Tan right you
seeing how mush it’s been on this golf course it looks quite dry and sandy and at the back there of this 17th come through the wispy grass land it 2/3 of the way and have it run the rest absolutely brilliant he’s going to run but that was a fantastic shot from Shannon Tan i don’t think she quite got a landing spot but like we were saying how firm it was at the back of that green so once it hit it just ran
ran like a put towards the hole
i was just asking that same question look at this again
well you think she wanted to land it
a little bit further yeah but look how it it scurryries on doesn’t it cuz it’s so hard at the back of that green
great shot
that was a great shot and you don’t really see the step as well that she’s had to come down once the ball is on the green to finish inside the top five for Theresa Mleta [Music] so close but what a terrific week for her it’s been much needed bogey to finish round of 74 but for her and Elena Sudo much needed form she’d have enjoyed that feeling it again feeling the good stuff trying to make her way towards the top of a leaderboard car there for Hannah screen well key moments now helen Bream coming down 18 amelia Garvey has got to finish off at 18 shannon Tan with work to do despite the excellence of that chip shot here at 17 garvey is only putting for par so she’s not going to finish better than seven under you’ll see how good Shallan’s chip is when you see this put roll down the slope from left to right for Houston here for a two [Applause] well done i think we’re going to see plenty of Amelia Garvey in the rest of this 2025 campaign it’s going to be a second top three finish in her last three starts climbing the rankings fast yeah like Anna Foster has only played 10 events on the ladies European tour so you think finding your feet but doing it quickly garvey is in the clubhouse at seven this is a put to stay at 10 under par for Shanatan remember led at the Jabra bogei 17 she’s bogeied 17 again this time in Germany well the lead was two it is now as tight at this has been all day she had a threeshot lead at the start of the day shannon Tan she stretched it to five at the eighth hole it got to two no one got closer than that and now suddenly with one hole to play it’s a fragile one
it’s tense and her usual reliability on a long game it’s just not been there today four bogeies in the last nine holes she’d only had three all week prior to that [Music] par five 18th to come nobody be going for it in two but it’s certainly a birdie chance that there’s water all around it you could easy make bogey as well well hold yeah if you look at the scores today there’s been a couple of sevens and eight down at 18 there’s been four fives and sixes a lot still to be decided before we know who is going to lift that trophy you would think though that Amelia Garvey at 7 under park is not going to be quite good enough 72 excellent performance from the Kiwi but Head and Bream and Shannon Tan now heading down the 18th hole with just a shot separating them in the closing stages of this Amundi German Masters [Music] [Music] yeah confirmation top five finish for Anna Foster another one for Leanne Pace the big shot here for Helen Breen there’s only been six birdies here at 18 all day that for seven for Helen Bream and you know Sophie you look back at today and all the putts that have been missed but the most important one is about to come up
keep saying it you’ve got to hold some clutch putts to win a trophy that’s what she faces there on 18 there was that clutch put that Tan just missed on 17 that’s opened the door for the German back to the tea box with Houston at the wheel oh dear down the right hand side half the field have missed this fairway most of them down that right hand side water all the way along the left and a couple of trees just point you down there that’s in the thick stuff for Houston
not what Shannon necessarily wants to see is it really well she’s pegged it down to try and hit it a bit lower into the wind and then you try and like get all over it to smother it and you can just leave the face open come a little bit too much on the inside don’t square it up and it flies off to the right [Applause] shannon Tan birded this hole yesterday mind that right now one under par this week for the 18th hole let’s get even tighter with the line off the tea at the middle of the ferris wheel the eye of it [Music] oh dear i think that might be in the penalty area that was scampering wasn’t it
yeah well you never know given Shannon Town’s issues this could be for the title for Helen Breen downhill left to right at least a cup [Music] and that’s been the story of her day putt after putt after putt three birdies all weekend one birdie today and that was a putt hole from about quarter of an inch when she nearly chipped in at 11 that was a good put though wasn’t it she thinks she’s lost it she doesn’t know what Shannon Tan’s done behind she’s thinking this is like Belgium level par level par over the weekend he’s saying don’t worry there’s always another chance but there could be another chance in 20 minutes
absolutely there may still yet be a playoff dependent on Shannon Tan who’s a well I think in the penalty area of the team we haven’t had confirmation of that yet disappointing day for Nastasia i mean she has been so consistent over recent months came into this week with six top 30s in a row but an 83 very unlike her there have been a few blown away a few battered by the green monster of Green Eagle it was a tough front nine for Carolyn Calfman it’s been a a much better back nine though and that’s a really good performance top 10 in her national championship for Caroline Calfman her best ever finish on the ladies European tour and to come on home soil much to be pleased about well I wonder will Helen Green be required for more is there still hope of a home winner in this Amundi German Masters level par round of 73 for Helen Breen and the clubhouse target now set at 8 under par and the news we’re getting is that Shannon Tan’s ball is not in the water couple of 73s on this pass 73 from Helen Brie really was a case of what could have been
it was she’s hit some class golf shots over the entire week especially today in the windy conditions and I felt like she hit some good putts they just did not fall the manager there with some soothing words and maybe some information that it might not be done yet go inside your scorecard and see what evolves that is where Shannon Tan’s ball has finished where’s she going to stand
yeah she’s not left-handed is she so that is I would say that those plants or vines they are dropping straight into the water so might have to come backwards well this sideways as is Alice Houston here over on the other side [Applause] just to clarify a five required here from Shannon Tan to win the title [Music] and the screen’s just going to lay up before Tan plays [Music] back into the wind just looking to lay up to a number where you can hit the 3/4 lob wedges there’s not much down there in the water she’s got 215 yards to the front edge which kind of puts this into perspective even if she chipped it out decently she’s still going to have 150 front edge okay
at least she’s grabbed a stance of some sort
i think that’s too strong a loft alis taking a drop
we’ll go that does look strong lofted that That looks like a mid iron so she’s going to try and just trap it and stab it and try and get it to run down this fairway well she was literally two steps from having nothing at least she can advance it it seems just hope it doesn’t go quick left on her cuz it could hit that tree in front par ac required for Shannon Tan play two now at this par five you think she went left off the tea on 10 she’s done that same one here on 18
i mean this is a player i mean
it’s when it’s into the wind it’s when it’s into the wind you just kind of get down after it and it just closes that face but yeah carry on with that start
no it’s a player who on tour this season has hit more than 90% of fairways but
as you mentioned the wind the pressure [Music] does this sort of thing
I think well definitely the pressure but the wind especially houston’s chipped out this will still be a layup for her 240 yds to the front edge yeah well rock legend Alice Cooper coined this golf course the Green Eagle the Green Monster and if you were watching the first three days you might have thought what’s all the fuss about but in the wind today the monster has awoken and everyone in the field has been battling hard shannon Tan starting the day with a threeshot lead down to one and work to be done look at that look at all the water she’s got to come over there is long the play then
and right i get her at least 150 to carry the water a one it’s a 170 golf shot it’s into the wind as well
well there’s one interested spectator adam Bream actually is just the other side of hospitality right now just come out of the recorder hut so she won’t be able to see this from where she is so we’re just going to pick this up she’s just asked “Do you think seven covers the front?” So it’s obviously a bit closer than what I thought 160 he’s aiming at the middle of those bunkers into the wind anything shorts wet sixiron for Shannon Tan [Music] wonderful that may be the game finisher from Shannon Town sometimes you got to stand up and hit a golf shot breathe
two putts for the title it’s out of Helen Bream’s hands
the opportunities at 17 and 18 the winner begging golden chances this has been a fight a super Sunday a struggle for Shannon Tan she’s seen where it’s landed on the green she’s smiling now [Music] [Music] yeah there was a part today Sophie where you thought you know Shannon Tan’s five clear how many is she going to win by needs to tw the last now just to win by one it it wasn’t ever a day where somebody was going to make a bunch of birdies it was always the case that the chances are that Shannon could come back to the players because of the wind conditions but then we talk about how steady a golfer she is how few bogeies she’s made but today it it’s been so hard out there the wind has been blowing
she’s caught breaks really i mean 17 the chip shot kind of caught a break the way it ran through and 18 there i mean she’s what two steps
from being in the water he need a little bit of luck to win [Music] from this angle the flag is only six yards on the green here for Houston take it right and long of it see if you can spin it back [Music] good way to finish there she need that for park [Music] well such a tough day for for Hannah screen particularly over that front nine and a horrendous start [Music] [Applause] 65 yds in was not messing around with that pin after today lovely setting isn’t it not as you’re playing
she is still breathing a sigh of relief
on this 18th hole like you said left off the team in the water screen and then having to hit a sixiron into this green with so much jeopardy elvis Houston well I know uh Dad Dear’s mom Winnie late at night in Singapore will be watching on here crossing their fingers hoping the two putts required will safely be taken by Shannon Tan helen Bream from hospitality well knows it’s out of her hands maybe heading for another runner-up finish still got a two put this it’s a good leave won’t need to worry about the speed of it because it’s down the hill breaking from right to left she’s at the top of the step spent last week in Belgium stayed on after the event there where she also had the opportunity to win and Sophie you said this is the part of the game where she’s really worked hard to improve [Music] it’s time to show it two putts to take the title for Shannon Tan [Music] [Applause] you can hear a clicking of fingers there willing it to put the brakes on not quite a done deal yet [Music] was quick wasn’t it well
she’s going to have to wait now for her playing partners to put out i mean Alice Houston and Anna Screen couldn’t stop making bogeies on the front nine and Shannon Tan just did so well to dig in her heels and keep the drop shots away until she three putted the ninth come on let’s get it back to level par downhill left to right for screen move she’s had a superb run 12th 10th 8th 9th in her last four appearances hannah Screen got herself into the final group just not to be today yeah had to get the physio out there as well some uh physical issues too and it all meant a round of 83 still good enough for a top 20 believe it or not houston was right off the tea had to chip out so this downhill left to right put to save her part first top 10 of the season for Alice Houston naturally hope for a little more coming into this final round an 80 to finish for the English player all down to this for Shannon Tan to take the title singapore’s finest has done it again shannon Tan wins her second ladies European tour title but it was some battle today in the wind in the north of Germany and some relief as well first win for this pair in Simon Cory and Shannon it wasn’t boring golf today Shannon but you can celebrate the win minus nine around the green monster and I wonder if Sophie Walker will get any credit for this title because uh a little putting tip that you said on air was picked up by team Tan
well I don’t think so
don’t be coy [Applause] it was coming wasn’t it misses consistent six on the order of merit there’s a top 10 in for fun and then getting herself in positions to win just not quite crossing the line she’s come second six 10 but now top dog Shannon number one here in Germany second ladies European tour win this is consistent
yeah won on her professional debut in Kenya and now has fed it up with victory here in the Amundi German Masters there’s a long queue forming already to get the autograph of the champion she’s got another signature that she needs to make rather promptly which is her scorecard so
don’t know if she’s going to sign all of those before then isn’t it great though to see all the girls out watching this you never know 10 15 years time it could be talking about one of those
she couldn’t take a swig of the champagne that was sprayed at her could she cuz she’s allergic to it
allergic some German beer though some pills now will be fine for the celebrations
well she’s earned it out there
she really has at one point today she led by five not often you win a title with a final round of 76 but it was that kind of day around Green Eagle just south of Hamburg helen Bream has to settle for a runnerup spot her sty continues to shine but in the end it’s Shannon Tan who takes the title the winner of the Amundi German Masters [Music] [Music] lean Pace had a a very interesting week without clubs and clothes for the first couple of days and there was a little bit of a draw bias as well we should point that out at this stage
we should yeah those players that went out late early only one of them was in that top 10 and that was Bronty Law carla Bernat the amateur the Augusta National Women’s Champion she was also on that side a level par finish what did we say on the first day 38 players were under par now we’ve only got 13 and a 69 today from Anna Huang took her from tied 49th at the start of the day into a share of 14th by the end of it that’s some leap that’s some Sunday for her out early made the most of it yeah the morning conditions weren’t as windy as this no way 25 kilometers an hour most of the time crosswinds but even downwind players were struggling to hold greens only saw 12 players shoot under par today that the only round in the 60s plenty in the 70s and fair few in the 80s as well you don’t see that too often two players in the final group shooting in the 80s these conditions were hard today but was it some exciting golf to watch still came down to the last that’s what happens here at the Hamundi German Masters it’s never over until it’s over yeah had a playoff the last couple of years haven’t we christina Napola seeing off car gainer in 2023 and last year lexi first beating Emma Spitz no playoff required this time shannon Tan grinding early on as I suppose she did much of the day this was the very first hole up and down from the sand to make par there
well this kind of set the scene she was going to be missing greens very unlike Shannon Tam onto the second t-shot went long at the par three 153 yds [Music] caught a few people out
including our producer come interviewer you’ll hear from Egors in a moment there he is driving the golf cart thankfully he didn’t run anyone over well demonstrated some gorgeous short game action yesterday and needed it there so up and down for a par so she missed the first green the second green she actually two putted for par at three then found the penalty area at four so this was for par crucial putt in the end and the same here on the par three fifth she missed the green again so that’s four greens missed in the first five holes they’re getting up and down from everywhere with Shannon Tan to save par and to stay at level park [Music] same at eight had a chip chipped up to here long par putt again and another single pass and last week all she did in that week off was chip and put practice hard and it’s coming to fruition here this one though this was a surprise hit the green in regulation and three puts from nowhere to drop a shot had a five shot lead at that stage dropped a shot it was down to four and then left off the tea at the par for 10th
left and wet she’d have to go back drop it the other side of the penalty area and hit a hybrid into a green which you’d normally be hitting wedge she did make a bogey it was a good bogey chipped to here for three at the par five 11th and this proved to be her only birdie of the day [Music] but there were some struggles coming in dropped a shot at 13 in trouble at 17 off flew the green turned it over and had this chip and run through the dry rough there and that was excellent we thought if you put this one in two shot lead going down the last no issue but she didn’t she missed it
and then look how close she was to the penalty area with her T-OT had to just dig it out fortunate though
very fortunate we thought that she’d have been dropping that she didn’t and then she hit a sixiron which was one of the best shots she’s ever hit in this circumstance into the wind right to left carrying over water she thought it wasn’t enough as it landed she didn’t know it was safe but it was on the dance floor and she’d only need two putts from there yeah at the first pass but this to confirm her as a twotime ladies European tour champion and the winner of this Amundi German Masters ellen Brie the runner up amongst those to respectfully applaud the champion and at this moment it’s almost hard for her to lift her hands up and celebrate with ecstasy because it has been such a challenge for her out there and she grabs hold of a caddy siren and that’s when the celebrations come in well she is the first player from Singapore to win on the ladies European tour the first to from golf to compete at the Olympics the first to make a cut at a major and now she’s a champion again she’s alongside Edgamorse shannon very many congratulations that was pretty close at the end
yeah definitely i mean I had to twart the last but yeah
you went out obviously in the final group and the wind was really strong out there i was watching you you were really battling well to keep par i mean the scorecard probably doesn’t show it but you play some really good golf early on to keep keep to level par early on
um I would actually admit um I missed a couple greens out there like the first the front line basically but I think the work I put in last week when I saw my coach for we did a lot of short game stuff and then of course changed my shafts my wedges but I think that paid off and um I mean yeah I was missing the greens but I was missing it in the right spots for some for most of them so that definitely does help and yeah it was quite windy out there but I mean if it’s windy for me it’s windy for everyone else so if I just went out there and just control the controllables then that’s all I could do
yeah because obviously it’s nicknamed the the green monster and it showed that today didn’t it i mean some of the winds were were pretty brutal
i mean yeah like some holes were like um winds helping but like the paint at the front so you just know that you got to cover the front but you just have to accept that if you go long you just have to accept it so but if it’s the same for me it’s the same for everyone else
now there’s not too many leaderboards out there so how aware were you of the situation as you were coming down coming down the stretch in the final holes um to be fair I only knew when I was walking up the green on 18 and I was like I just have to two putt this um that’s like the only time I’ve looked at a leaderboard
and you did two putt it it was a really good birdie putt wasn’t it i mean how were the nerves over that
i mean it definitely had a chance um hit it about two three feet past but definitely gave it a chance but yes um 11 paces downhill i mean it’s your second win on tour it’s been a narrow win but thoroughly deserved time to get your hands on the trophy well done Shannon
thank you thanks congratulations well done
thank you shannon Tan with another trophy her second on the Ladies European tour one in 2024 now one in 2025 the winner of this fourth edition of the Amundi German Marshall that was the cup that sealed the deal lovely moments i think it’s always difficult with the interview straight after you’ve played and and won because in this circumstance she shot three over she’s still very much in the process isn’t she when she’s giving that interview it’s not sunk in because it’s just been so hard for her out there today
i wonder if she thought which we didn’t get that if she thought that t-shirt had actually gone in the water as well
it’s the stress that she’s put herself under i mean like she said everybody’s struggling this win but yeah you’re struggling in it but you’re in the final group you’ve got a five shot lead all of those things that are coming together
and she said she didn’t know until 18 though that she
That’s the caddy’s job isn’t it
yeah but you know when you’re starting throwing in the bogeies you you must wonder man that it’s got to play on your mind i wonder what’s going on here
yeah i sometimes think not knowing forcing yourself not to look that adds a bit of anxiety as well
that they do it all different ways don’t they
and ultimately she was left holding the trophy well it’s delivered again hasn’t it i suppose Sophie there’s a Monday German Masters it has it’s been a great event i’ve really enjoyed coming up to Hamburg seeing this golf course on television for all of those years and now the women are playing it and there’ll be a special tree planted down the right hand side of the 18th the pine trees that I keep getting all my yardages from they are in honor of all of the winners so started with Jordan Smith in 2017 and there’ll be another one added for Shannon Tam yeah the Kefir trees a unique tradition here at Green Eagle Golf Courses in honor of the champions the Ala Deiger as it’s known the avenue of champions and Shannon Tan Street will be planted as a result of her victory a hardfought win in the wind in the north of Germany congratulations to her but we’ll be off to Ireland next on the Ladies European tour see you then [Music] heat heat [Music]
