Tommy Fleetwood shares his raw emotions after a heartbreaking finish, coming just one shot short of his first PGA TOUR victory. The Englishman reflects on a rollercoaster final round, missed chances at 16 and 18, and what it means to lead for 71 holes and still walk away without the win. With humility, perspective, and determination, Fleetwood explains how he’ll use this experience to keep pushing forward.

tell me if you could replay one which uh don’t know there’d be a couple really um you know pro you know may probably maybe the second shot on the last maybe the put you know it’s not like I mean Keegan made birdie so fair play to him but um still feel like from where I was should at least be in a playoff so um yeah it’s a crappy way to finish you know like 16 and 18 just uh you know disappointing in sort of hitting pretty decent shots really that uh left myself with work to do and didn’t clean it up um e either of those really there was a number of them
yesterday it seemed like there was so much flow to your game you obviously hit all those fairways today were you ever able to get in that gains it seemed like the round was sort of back and forth for you all day
well it was it was tough yeah a very different day conditionwise and um felt like it was very similar to Friday uh I felt like I scr well but there was a there was a period where I felt like I got a a grip of um like you know two three puts early on on three and four where you’re like you know I good shot into four out the rough there three again feel got that win wrong a little bit end up having a lot of work to do and three put so there was there was that bit of it i I didn’t really feel like I was playing too poorly i felt like I was hitting a lot of good shots and then if you look at I really feel like from seven onwards the shots I was hitting 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 I was very much in control and playing very well i just you know in the jaws on 12 and 14 I could have done with rolling that one in and yeah you know then you get to the end and obviously I didn’t really feel like I hit that many bad shots execution wise just sort of couple of bad decisions and and didn’t clean them up which was pretty poor and things that I have to work on
obviously there were a lot of people out there you know rooting for Keegan but didn’t feel like they were against you necessarily that that we could sort of hear did you feel that there were people that were definitely out there supporting you wanting you to get your first win
yeah it was great i always feel like have amazing support if there’s one guy you know around here that you’re going to go against obviously Keegan’s going to get uh the majority of the support um but I I felt like the crowd were great with me all week i always feel like I’m very lucky with uh with how the people are with me and and how they warm to me uh and I enjoy playing you know it was a great atmosphere to play and it really was i I enjoyed that side of it
and how do you process this one what do you sort of take away from this one
well I’ve been in this situation for a while you know I’m uh I I I think um you know when when it sort of calms down um you know I’m upset now I’m gutted uh I’m angry um when it calms down look at the things that I did well look at the things that I can learn from i I said yesterday I’m I haven’t been in this position all year um so it’s been a while felt like I did a lot of good things um but there was things that I you know definitely can do better and I have to do better so um you know I um I did I did plenty of things well enough this week to uh to win and I didn’t do that it hurts um but you know when it when it calms down uh the you know the most stupid thing to do and the worst thing to do would be make this make a week like this a hindrance to what you do going forwards i obviously played great i put myself in a great position i was leading the tournament of 71 holes um I just want to you know make sure that I can put myself in this position as soon you know as soon as possible again and and try and correct what I did this time but like I say you know um you know right now I would love to uh you know just go and sulk somewhere and maybe I will do but I um there’s just no point making it a negative for the for the future really and take the positives and move on
tommy so many close calls you know and now you’re still looking for that first win you know what is kind of the the burden of of trying to get that first PGA tour win feel like um obviously there’s a lot of chat about it i I think um I would have loved to have done it today um search goes on i guess when it happens it’ll be very very sweet um you know I um I I I don’t know really i I haven’t like I I said yesterday I know I keep saying it but I haven’t really been in a position where I’ve been in contention to really worry about you know when my win might come uh today was one of those days like for 71 holes and it didn’t happen but um you know I uh like in my mind yeah I’ve won loads of PJ tour events i just haven’t done it in reality and uh I’m sure that time will come if I keep working and with the uh yeah both times I was you know I had a good chance down the last um yeah probably um probably as close as I’ve came you know there’s been a handful of times where you know um coming down last with a chance um but yeah this this was a very close one this is the longest I’ve led a tournament I think so um yeah this is probably the closest
thanks guys thanks

Was pulling for him to get his 1st victory on pga tour. Genuinely good guy.
When you see Keegan drain about 1000feet of putts you kind of knew, it was his day. Tommy you are a LEGEND! 👍🇬🇧
Class act talking to the media. Rory would have been in his car.
Always liked Tommy and still do!!! Great example of a true Sportsman and one who should be copied by all of us!!! He will win and I'll be standing up pumpimg my arms !!!!
Tommy go win the Open!
Feel bad for him. I've been wanting him to win for a long time. His putting usually does him in. Keegan Bradley has never been my favorite, but he really made some great shots and putts. He drives me nuts the way he twirls his clubs. Hoping Tommy learns from this and will win in the future.
T Fleet is to be commended. It'll happen for him very soon.
He'll learn from those mistakes and be better for it. Won't be long now for that first PGA win.
Some players fall into to journeyman and not about wins.
Hope he wins eventually…..especially a major. (History and a 72 ft putt killed him at the 2023 Canadian Open….)
Total class act!
Tommy is a stand up guy. His time will come. I am certain of it. He is a great player and it is nice to see him handle this with dignity. You will not see him throwing a fit on the course or tearing up locker rooms. That says a lot for him compared to some of his fellow competitors. It was a tough loss and I was really sad to see it finish out the way it did. I can only imagine the let down it was for him.
To be honest, he can't yet finish a tourament. I know he has won but question his mentally at the end when it's tight.
You're my favorite player Tommy. Never give up you'll win on PGA for sure. A french amirer.
Rooting for him all the way. The last few holes were slipping away tho. Bummer
Who cares Tommy. You are still the nicest guy on tour with the crappiest Haircut😂. Your Win will come.
Good attitude wise advice …." the worst thing to do is to make a week like this a hindrance to what you do going forward" perfect!
He choked, moment too big for him. All these pity comments, he just needs to get out his own head
Great job Tommy!!
Sorry about our Media
If only!
I wish he had not changed his club for his second shot on 18..
He Desperately needs to go see Brad Faxon.
His putting stroke is a nightmare.
And the claw grip almost always ends up short.
Hang in there Tom love your attitude and the way you play, it’s only around the corner . Yes your right to feel frustrated, but don’t do negatives , concentrate on the positives you played great golf. The only people asking about winning in America is the media. BELIEVE.
I am so sad about Tommy not taking it…
I was really pulling for him…I want him to get that win in the USA under his belt…
Fleetwood is still young, he’ll have more opportunities
Tommy is a legend.
Enough of the “learn from it” mess. He has learned enough. Go win it or stop trying to act like wins matter and just collect the millions for making cuts
I know how you feel Tommy. I was 3 up with 4 to play in my local C Grade club champs matchplay. Put tee shots OB on 15, 16 and 17 and completely fucked it. Lost 1DN
Really gutted for Tommy….Keep going when you do win it's going to feel sweet 👍
Chocked simple as that ..was there to be taken you could see it
Keep hitting those balls Tommy!
Hope he does it at the British Open next month. In reality, every win needs just a bit of good fortune on the course, and he just didn't get the break yet but it will come. He's one of the greats.
As a PGA of America club professional, everyone in the world knows Tommy hits it great and has a great move. He however is just awful with the flat stick compared to those winning. Scheffler would not have 3 putted those holes he did in the final round that is fact. He putts just well enough to be top 15 in the world. My advice, hit balls half as much, find something, anything to make a few more.
Great player with good golf management skills. Come on Tommy you can get a PGA win shortly
Have to keep knocking on the door Tommy! Great to be in the shop window for a tourney, as you say you’re not there enough
Now go get there consistently and the wins will drop
You have your Wyndham Clarks and your Tommy Fleetwoods. Your whining babies and your mature gentleman who actually respects the game.
Tommy is a very good bloke, one of the best mannered on tour ,always courteous to all.Watching that final round in my local golf club in kildare, everyone in the clubhouse was rooting for Tommy it shows how much is respected here in Ireland. Everyone was gutted for him.Keep the head up Tommy your going to win in the USA,when you do it will be all the sweeter.from Larry and all you fans here in kildare and Ireland 🇮🇪
If you’ve ever seen a role model!
Keep in there Tommy!!
You can’t keep a good man down!
Everyone loves Tommy hence why we all want him to win big BUT, not sure he has quite what it takes to get over the line.
When i see something like this I always think of Teddy Roosevelts speech "Man in the Arena" BTW, Keagan is also in the arena
That’s why we all love Tommy!
A true gentleman
Brutal mate. What a head F
Love Fleetwood..love the mullet..Quality individual..
REALLY CLASSY GUY to own up to losing the tournament that was his to win or lose ! But the fact is he DID LOSE this opportunity. Bad decisions and poor execution on his part… I feel really bad for him. 😊
I felt very sorry for him, what a way to lose a tournament, bradley is a machine, you won't beat him in a scenario like that. To be honest Fleetwood's last shot was woeful…he gave the tournament away, does he believe he can win a PGA tour event one has to ask oneself…I personally would have ran off the course screaming myself with that totally partisan crowd, I don't know how golfers play in environments like that, a lot of the best players don't make it because of anxiety issues, it's an unnatural scene…there should be more respect shown but the Americans are probably all juiced up on Trumps free beer, they were all drinking beer out of upside down umbrellas I heard and Tommy Fleetwood will do well to recover from it with your man thinking he's superman at the end, all he was short of was a pair of red underpants over his trousers, I wouldn't play in front of rowdiness like that…rejoin the European tour and don't put yourself through the stress of it, I'd say to him, he seems like a humble lad unlike his opponent who is obviously a total egomaniac …
I wonder has a golfer ever left the course for an early bath while hiding behind an umbrella if he was having a sinking feeling like he'd bottle a tournament, his caddie could maybe start singing american trilogy by Elvis at the top of his lungs and he could be allowed leave the grounds off the course in a blacked out limo to his private pink jetaplane to get the flock out of media dodge ….any suggestions Brandel??? IC25
Guy is great. Many people say how great a life they have, but these pro's put themselves out for the world to see them play (win or lose or otherwise) and critique their every move. I applaud him as a winner.
Tommy is still a winner for me.
Such a classy dude. Would root for him every time!
