The rivalry between former UFC lightweight contender Nate Diaz and ex-heavyweight Brendan Schaub took a dramatic turn when Diaz took to social media to mock Schaub. Schaub, who was visibly emotional during his podcast, had been discussing the ongoing UFC antitrust lawsuit and the hardships faced by former fighters like Shane Carwin. Diaz’s tweet, in which he called Schaub “Brendan the big ol’ wimp Schaub,” seemed to mock Schaub’s vulnerable moment. Schaub fired back on his podcast, challenging Diaz to a grappling match, and confidently pointed out that their size difference—Schaub having fought as a heavyweight—would make it an easy win for him. #UFC308 #BrendanSchaub #UFC
The history of bad blood between Diaz and Schaub isn’t new. Their first heated interaction took place during the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight in 2017, where a backstage incident reportedly sparked their mutual animosity. Now, with Schaub having transitioned into a career as a comedian and podcaster, he isn’t holding back. On his podcast, Schaub criticized Diaz, claiming that the former UFC star is clinging to a “tough guy” image that Schaub believes is far from genuine.
Schaub went on to express his opinion that Diaz’s online behavior is part of an attempt to stay relevant, especially following Diaz’s recent loss to Jake Paul in their much-publicized boxing match. Schaub didn’t mince words, asserting that if a real-life altercation were to happen, he would have no trouble defeating Diaz, emphasizing his size advantage and past heavyweight training as deciding factors.
Among this back-and-forth, Diaz’s simple five-word response—“I think you’d be surprised”—struck a nerve. For fans, it echoed a famous moment in MMA history involving Schaub himself. Years ago, Schaub had said those exact words while discussing how he might fare against Cain Velasquez in a wrestling match, only for Joe Rogan to famously throw it back at him during a podcast, leading to one of the most memorable confrontations in MMA podcasting history and eventually contributing to Schaub’s decision to retire from MMA.
While Schaub’s podcast rants maintain a tough exterior, Diaz’s witty and minimalist retort has left fans buzzing. In his characteristically unbothered style, Diaz has shown that he’s more interested in letting his legacy and quick comebacks do the talking, while Schaub continues to engage in a war of words on his platform. For now, the back-and-forth keeps fans entertained and speculating on what might happen if the two fighters ever do face off in real life.

Ain’t this the pc of sheet that snaked his way towards Bobby Lee girlfriend? Nah your that snake in tall grass the hood taught us about , u are the definition of deterioration ; freaking lame
Hes got a point
he is not wrong both of them sounds like thugs with a lot of fentanyl inside their bodies
I honestly don't know if Brendan Schaub would win in a fight against either Diaz brother. Their skill levels are so far ahead of his that the weight difference only matters if he connects first, and Brendan Schaub was never fast enough nor intelligent enough to land a punch on the better heavyweights so how the hell is he catching a welter or lightweight.
diaz type people don't care if they'll get beaten. they're gonn a do it anyway. but for real. brendan's not a pussy. he's goofy in lots of ways, but he really was a top 10 heavyweight fighter with hands. he's not the greatest or anything, but he was better than most people. people forget that and just treat him like he's a bitch because he's kind of dumb or whatever. he's not a bitch.
he likes them. they just crossed the line. up until that moment, you would have called brendan a diaz fan. nate was disrespectful to him several times over the years and it boiled over.
Brendan is whack af. Nate would have a hard time with him.
Schaubb doing the same exact smack talk ONLY because he’s in Austin now. He’d never do that while living in LA. Putz!
Anyone who has ever met Nate will tell you the same thing that he's hella cool. He will take a picture with you and even entertain small talk. IF Nate doesn't like you, you best believe its because you disrespected him or who he's with. Brendan on the other hand is a D bag who use to charge to do a meet an greet with him. Nate is the guy Schaub wishes he could be. Also, never a top 10 HW, Shane says they're not friends.
Up close you didn't say crap to nate!!😂😂
Another has been acting up 😢😅
No man says. I see how the sausage is made🤨
The commenters that dont like Brendan saying Nate would deatroy him.
1 on 1 Brandan would rag doll Nate. It wouldn't be a fair fight for Nate at ALL. Lol
Mista Shawb is such a moron. He shouldn't be getting into any fights with anybody else wether it's at a bar or especially a UFC fighter at any size. One punch to that cerebrally mushed head of his could easily drop him and clear the few brain cells he has left… Permanently! What an idiot…
Would both beat Brendans azz
Nate needed a Compton slap from Schaub. Right on ear. Nate is acting tougher than he is.
Nate doesn't like many people and has several sociopathic traits but not the evil ones. I don't think he enjoys inflicting pain and injuring other pro fighters but he wouldn't lose sleep over it. He's not a bully and truly doesn't care what other people think about him at all… zero and that requires natural confidence, and a lack of fear.. he has envious characteristics when it comes to his fighting spirit, and if he didn't smoke weed, he would be truly out of control
Brendon Brendon Brendon… smh
Schaub is two steps from Down syndrome….go to Stockton and pull that dance!….sssssssSLAP!!
LODI CA!!
