It has been 100 years since a
repeat champion has taken the
crown in the NFC. Maybe not that long, but it’s been a long time
and we’re going to have the same
conversation we’ve had in the last 20 or so years. Who can
knock off the defending champion
Eagles in the NFC East? Mark Ross will be along to join us to
talk about that. He worked for
two NFC East teams in his time. The Texans have won the AFC
South back to back years, but
the Titans and the Jaguars they’re coming. They’re
announcing their presence. We’re
going to talk about the progress for cam Ward Travis Hunter and
those two teams down there in
the AFC South. And the greatest gift in the history of the
insiders. Ravens linebacker Kyle
Van Noy going to join us. We’ll explain why it’s such a great
game. It’s actually pretty
fitting. Hang in there. You’ll see that coming up shortly.
Welcome inside with the
insiders. Mike Garafolo here taking you through another
surprisingly busy day in the
NFL. Even though nobody is in minicamp and we’re still a
couple of weeks away from
training camp, it just never stops, folks. And that’s why we
have invited Stacey Dales, Sarah
Walsh, Cam Wolff and the aforementioned Mike Ross and
Kyle Van Noy to join us. Travis
Hunter just talked about the Jaguars just a couple of seconds
ago. This one we thought might
go down to the wire and maybe a little holdout, perhaps leading
into the start. No deal done on
Sunday. Four years $46 million. That’s fully guaranteed for
Travis Hunter. You see only two
more first round picks yet to sign. The hope is that J.D.
Barron and Shemar Stewart will
get those deals done before the start of camp. We’re confident
on Barron. We’ll see about
Stewart. That’s been a little bit of a tug and pull along the
way. Meanwhile, Anthony
Richardson, speaking to 247 sports 24 over seven to those
that know him well, saying yeah,
I’ll be ready for training camp. I’m all good. He said, quote,
not really even a bump in the
road. I feel like I tripped, I fell, just got to get back up
and hit the ground running
again. He better hit the ground running because Daniel Jones is
ready to take that job from him
if he is not ready. Cooper Dejean, he’s still running on
that pick six from the Super
Bowl and rubbing it in a little bit at the Fanatics Fest over
the weekend. Signing a patch. I
don’t know if you’re allowed to do, like, should you really be
doing this? I don’t know, Cooper
Dejean. If you’re a Super Bowl champion, you do what you want.
Signing a Patrick Mahomes card
saying go birds. I mean, you know Patrick Mahomes. You know
the Chiefs. You know what
they’re going to be thinking that might that one might
already be up on the bulletin
board there in Kansas City. But we talked about the Eagles and
who might be coming for them if
they don’t defend their crown. It could be because they lost
all these guys here. I mean,
this is what happens when you win the Super Bowl and also when
you don’t have a quarterback on
a rookie deal. You’ve got to make tough decisions across the
roster. So look at all that
defensive line help that went out the building, including
Milton Williams who got a ton of
money to head up to New England. With that, I bring in Stacey
Dales and Mark Ross. We’re going
to talk about teams that could potentially stop the Eagles from
repeating as NFC East champions.
It was 2005. If I remember correctly, the last time we had
a repeat champion in the NFC
East. So Mark, I want to start with you. And let’s start with
the commanders because that’s
the hot team. That’s the one everybody’s talking about. How
can the Washington commanders
challenge the Eagles this upcoming season. The schedule
season we thought nice little
team. But they just went on that run across Detroit and then got
crushed themselves. And we love
the offseason additions there with star power. They got Laremy
Tunsil. They got Deebo Samuel
who Deebo and Terry McLaurin together with another year of
Jayden Daniels. I really like
their chances to say, you know what, we’ve made strategic moves
and we have gotten a lot better.
I am a little bit worried about the pass rush on the other side.
You got a really good stop. The
Eagles offense last year, I don’t think they did a ton
Stacy, to really upgrade that
position. Got some veterans in there, but nobody really on the
defensive side. But this offense
should be humming. They should be in every game and they should
be challenging Philly just
because of they got an MVP candidate right there. Jayden
Daniels to go along with a lot
of playmakers on offense. Yeah, Mark and Mike. They should
definitely be humming. By the
way Cooper Dejean. Did he dunk on Patrick Mahomes by signing
his card I think I think he may
have. That’s pretty brazen as he goes into his second year but I
brazen. That’s a good word for
Jayden Daniels because of the way he played last season. He
was remarkable. I mean, you’re
talking about the seventh total offense in the National Football
League. They were fifth scoring
best offense, third in rushing. So what does this mean? It means
your staff comes back. It’s
culture, culture, culture there in Washington fellas. With Kliff
Kingsbury who marries back up
with Jayden Daniels. Listen, I expect to see after what we saw
Daniels do on the ground last
season. 891 rushing yards for this young man. He was
impeccable on the road. So he
looked wise beyond his years. I expect the tempo to go up with
Kliff Kingsbury system. They can
be very multiple offensively. You mentioned McLaurin. They’ve
got a bunch of weapons, a bevy
of weapons, a really good backfield, and I like what
they’ve done with their
offensive line. When you bring Laremy Tunsil into the mix, who
enters his 10th season, and then
you draft a young man in the first round and Josh Connolly
out of Oregon, 29th overall. And
you have Laremy Tunsil lauding this guy because of his
potential. That shows promise
for a quarterback that got sacked 47 times last season.
Terry McLaurin and the
commanders locked into a bit of a stare down here when it comes
to the contract. So we’re going
to have to see how that goes in the training camp. McLaurin
hasn’t been shy about making a
statement. We also know what he means to that organization and
that team. So we shall see if
that one gets done before the start of training camp. Let’s
move on to the Cowboys. And I
know a lot of folks love to have their jokes. And they look at
Brian Schottenheimer and say,
you went and hired a coach that nobody else was really after.
But Cowboys believe they got
themselves a guy that’s maybe a lot more ready to be a head
coach now than he was when he
was a head coaching candidate 15 years ago or so. How did the
Cowboys challenge the Eagles?
Schottenheimer to the outside, I might have been an
unconventional choice, but as
long as the players in the locker room believe in the guy
and they feel as if we’re going
to go play for him, you know it’s going to work for them now.
If he’s good enough, that
remains to be seen. If the talent is good enough, it
remains to be seen if that
belief is there in the organization in him. That’s step
one. You know, now we’re talking
about the concerns where I think Washington is ready. Washington
is there to go take Philly down.
But Dallas, I still think there’s a lot of question marks
on both sides of the ball.
Number one will Dak stay healthy. You know the guy’s been
hurt over the last few years.
Will he be on the field. Will he be available I know the George
Pickens signing. But the Dallas
offensive line catered off of the run game for so many years.
That’s what they were known for.
Question marks at the running back position there. And then on
the defensive side, they really
have a mix of kind of reclamation projects or free
agents with the Karelians and
Kenneth Murray’s of the world. And, you know, Diggs is coming
back off of an injury over Sean,
coming back off an injury, two of their key players. So, you
know, they do have a lot of
question marks there. Dallas will always be competitive.
They’ll be in the mix Stacy. But
do they have that championship DNA to say we are better than
Philly. We can take a step up to
beat Philly, to beat Washington, to beat the top contenders.
That’s been the huge question
mark here. Yeah, it has been. And they’ve had a really good
attendance rate here through the
offseason. I think you typically see that in the NFL with new
regimes right guys? I mean we’ve
seen that over the years. Everybody’s want to wants to get
to camp to make sure that coach
sees them. But I feel like just based on conversations that I’ve
had with folks in Dallas, it’s
been a seamless transition, as it can be for a new head coach
in the National Football League
and Brian Schottenheimer, and there’s carryover. I mean, he
was the offensive coordinator.
His system stays in place, and he has looked as poised at the
podium as a new head coach that
I’ve seen in my time. Covering his last presser, he gave us
about 35 minutes, which is
pretty substantial as they headed into the break prior to
training camp. I’m really
fascinated by their offensive line. I think it’s a young
group. I think it’s growing and
it’s the three. Tyler’s right, the three first rounders. Tyler
Guyton can he take a step up the
Blind side protector or rather on the opposite side of Dak
Prescott. And right beside him
Tyler Smith and then Tyler Booker, their first rounder
who’s absolutely nasty nasty out
of Alabama, the 12th overall pick for them. And certainly
Cooper Beebe in the middle, who
I know Brian Schottenheimer has a lot of faith in at that center
spot. Such an important position
because they touch the ball on every play. And so I think that
might be a little bit of a
hidden gem for the Cowboys, Mike, as they get ready for
2025. That offensive line,
another NFC East team that is looking at a guy looking at a
contract extension, just like
Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders. You got
Micah Parsons in that deal with
the Cowboys. He was there for minicamp, even participated a
little bit. But to participate
in training camp, he’s made it clear need to get that deal
done. So a lot of work still
left to be done there and a lot of work still left to be done
for the Giants, period. We know
that, right? Like I’m not even going to ask like, can they
challenge the Eagles? I just
don’t think that’s realistic. But what can they do during a
rebuild to maybe announce their
presence a little bit in the NFC East? Mark. Let’s rephrase it a
little bit that way. Yeah the
best scenario. Is Dexter Lawrence the secondary. They
just go destroy people and hold
them down to 15 points a game while you scrap and call the
offense. Makes a huge couple
huge plays a game with Russell Wilson on the deep balls. But
then what you’re really is about
Jaxson Dart. At what point does he get in there. What point do
you say, well, do we take the
whole year off as they said for next year? I don’t think that’s
realistic. This is about Jaxson
Dart and the development there of Stacy. Yeah I mean he’s
promising this is real simple
for me. Can they actually score points. They were in the red the
Giants and they look different
now in almost every offensive category. Is Russell Wilson
going to stretch the field. And
can they use their playmakers to create explosives. And then can
the defense be the explosive
group that it should be this this group up front now for
these New York Giants. They are
going to be fast off the ball as as they rush the quarterback
across the league as you get.
And so you know when you add Abdul Carter into the mix move
him around. Make him a weapon
like a chess piece. I think that Shane Bowden, the defensive
coordinator, can do a lot with
this group. Yeah. You see that right there. Abdul Carter
posting the game film from. Are
you allowed to do that? I mean like we can’t even describe
plays in the spring here. You
got guys posting cutups here of the film. But you see the threat
with three guys coming at the
quarterback. It’s going to have to be a lot of that for the
Giants to really, like I said,
announce their presence in the NFC East. I know what this draft
class they wanted, guys that had
a little bit of swag, a little chip on the shoulder. If the
team across the board can start
to play that way and not be a team that the rest of the NFC
East is laughing at, I think
that that is a positive year for the Giants. Mark Stacy, don’t go
anywhere. You are with us
throughout the program tonight, including you, Mark. Because in
a little bit you’re going to
tell us about some players guaranteed to improve in 2025.
We guarantee you Mark Ross’s
audio is going to improve for that segment. I don’t know why
I’m saying that, but I feel
confident in our folks in the control room. And then you got
the Baltimore Ravens. There are
a lot of people that make this one go. We’re probably not
giving Kyle Van Noy enough love
for what he has done. The Baltimore pass rusher, who
somehow has found the fountain
of youth this late in his career, will join us next for
the first time on The Insiders.
Chose the Capital One Spark Cash for emergencies. Pocket
collapsing and he is sacked.
Kyle Van Noy wrapped up and dropped by Kyle Van Noy. He’s
been a player this year for the
Ravens. Hello Kyle Van Noy guy is an old school mentality
football player 11 years from
BYU. How sweet it is baby. Move it. Ladies and gentlemen, Stacey
Dales. Let’s tell you what kind
of get. This is for the insiders right here. Because back in
September of 2023, the insiders
just barely on the air at NFL network, had Kyle Van Noy booked
to be on the program. He had to
cancel on us. We then discovered later that he was canceling
because he was going to visit
the Ravens. 21.5 sacks later, a Pro Bowl appearance later, a
couple of playoff runs later,
Kyle Van Noy is joining the program for the first time,
joining the insiders. We are so
glad to have you, dude. You’re out in Saint George, Utah. Tell
the folks what you’re doing out
there and welcome Stacey. Mike, thank you guys for having me on
the show. I’m not I’m not
leaving. Sure. I’m here with you guys. I’m enjoying the moment.
Thanks for having me. We did it.
I am out here in Saint George, Utah. I’m having my golf
tournament. The Van Noy Valor
Foundation. If you guys want to donate, if you want to help out,
you can go to Van Noy Valor
Foundation.org. It’s awesome. We give back to foster care. My
wife and I started a charity
about ten years ago because I’m adopted. My wife’s brother and
dad are adopted, so it hits home
for us and we like to give back. And we’re grateful to help out
the young kids in foster care.
Kyle, I just I feel like you’re just this ball of energy. I
mean, if you’re not following
this guy on social media, folks, you’ve got to. You’re
everywhere. And outside of
football, like, I’m kind of curious. Are you going to do
another water fast? Because a
guy at like six, three, 255. Take us through that process. As
you got ready for minicamp, how
many times have you done it and what kind of difference does it
make to the mind and the body?
Stacy, I love that you brought that up. It’s something that
I’ve taken on now. It’s my third
time that I’ve done it. This time it was a little bit easier,
but at the same time it got a
little bit harder because the last hour, you know, you’re
about to eat and you’re so
hungry, but the what it does to your mind, you get, you just
regain control of the mind. And
it’s an amazing opportunity to get that spiritual, mental and
physical aspect, all of those
things. You can even shed a couple pounds if that’s what
you’re trying to do. But
ultimately you get that regain and that restructure of the
mind. You win the mind, you win
that battle. You can win a lot of things. So I think it’s
awesome. I think everybody
should try to do it and start small, though. Let’s start with
like 24 hours and then 48. Let’s
build ourselves up. Yeah I’m going to try to get to, I don’t
know, two hours without eating.
And then we’ll see if we can get the 24 Kyle. But listen I
mentioned 21.5 sacks over your
last two seasons. You’re tied for 10th in the NFL. In that
span. You’re at 33 years old.
You’re coming all of a sudden up as a lethal pass rusher now.
Right. And really like you’ve
been used in different roles over your career. What’s the
secret sauce for a guy like you
to be getting better in that department at this age? You hear
that? We have a little
construction going on. Distractions, distractions
everywhere. We got to focus, and
that’s what I feel like I’ve been able to do. I’ve been able
to focus on one job. I used to
do a lot of things in Detroit and then in New England. I was
playing here, I was playing
there, still making plays, and then with the Ravens, I’ve been
able to just focus on one job
that’s getting after the passer. I’ve been doing it. I feel like
I’ve been one of the best in the
NFL at doing so the last two seasons. And, you know, I just
want to continue to shine and
continue to make game changing plays and continue to get back
into the playoffs and get to
that last game. That’s our team goal that we want to do. But for
me, I’m just going to continue
to try to be a game changer. It doesn’t matter. I don’t worry
about the age. I know teams, you
know, worry about that. I don’t. It’s something that I’ve kind of
swatted away the last two
seasons. I’m 21 at heart. As Stacy said, I’m a ball of
energy. I still got plenty. You
absolutely do. I mean, you were the oldest player though. I
mean, come on, Kyle, you were
the oldest player with ten plus sacks in the NFL last season,
but experience. Stacy.
Experience. You segwayed me perfectly, my friend. Because
like, I’m looking at you guys,
I’m looking at oh, I’m looking at some of your new additions.
You know, when I think of on the
back end, Awuzie and Jaire Alexander and those rookies,
Malachi Starks, obviously Mike
green out of Marshall’s going to be a good player in this league.
What, what how do these guys fit
into this Zach or scheme given what you guys how fierce you can
be going into 2025. You know you
said it right. Fit in because we already have what we have. We’re
we’re not starting from ground
zero. We’re starting from where we’ve been where we finished
last year. And we’re going to
build on that. I think the chip on the shoulder from everybody
on the defensive side of the
ball wasn’t up to our standards, and it wasn’t up to my standards
either. As a player, personally,
I could always get better and continue to be a better mentor,
be a better player when I’m on
the field and you know they’re going to have to fit in with
what we got going on, because
what Zach is trying to do and the places he’s trying to go is
to the top, and he’s a really
good coordinator. He relates to players. He’s been an all pro.
Not many coaches are able to say
that and stand on that. He’s able to do that and to be able
to have that, stepping into a
room at the front is amazing. And you know, one thing that I’m
super proud to, you know, be as
friend watching from afar because being able to battle
what he went through for the
first ten weeks of the season and not giving up and, you know,
staying the course and believing
in what he’s preaching and then standing ten toes down. It was
impressive to see the change in
him leading the room, but our way of looking at what he’s
teaching and his ability to get
the most out of us. I was proud of him, you know, as a as a
friend and as a coach, seeing
that improvement in just one year and the sky’s the limit for
him. He’s going to be a head
coach one day. And you can bookmark it right now because he
he is all about football. Yeah.
This is a clip we’re going to come back to and highlight
because he’s absolutely right
about that. You did mention a word there mentor. And you’ve
got these young guys these young
pass rushers. You got guys at different positions. You and
what you’ve seen throughout your
career playing in New England Miami Detroit Baltimore
Chargers. Did I miss anybody I
think I hit them all. And the coaches that you played for and
the different positions that we
talked about, like you must have a wealth that you draw upon to
help these. How does it make you
a better mentor? You know, I think you saying all those
different places just goes into
the experience that I’ve had. You know, you hear about all the
stories of the guys that have
played for one team their whole career. But, you know, there’s a
couple of us that have bounced
around and have had success. And, you know, I’m one of those
guys and I’ve been able to help
out so many young players. You know, one guy that I’m super
proud about, he just got an
extension this offseason is Andrew Van Ginkel. Was able to
hang with him at the Pro Bowl
this year. My first time in his first time, and both of us
experienced and that being kind
of my young, my young guy in the league and seeing the success
that he’s had in Minnesota,
another guy who ended up getting a huge contract was Christian
Wilkins. You know, super proud
of what he’s done in the league at the tackle position and then
growing with guys on my own
team, you know, nom de matta. Odafe ojabo. And hopefully, you
know, at some point Mike green
when we spend more time together. Kyle, you’re obviously
a two time Super Bowl champ.
You’re a Pro Bowler and you’re a sack master. But there’s a lot
of games. There’s a lot of games
I got circled on your schedule. Buffalo, Kansas City, but the
Pittsburgh Steelers I’m kind of
disappointed you don’t see them until week 14. But Aaron Rodgers
I’m well aware that’s a
quarterback you’ve never gotten to. And you think he’s one of
your top I think if I’m not
mistaken one of your top five. Give us a little glimpse into
you know your your thoughts on
that. Yeah I’ll tell you a quick Aaron Rodgers story that I’d
like to get him back. It was
actually when I was back in Detroit when I was playing
inside linebacker. For whatever
reason, the D coordinator, who’s actually the D coordinator of
the Steelers, wanted to go cover
zero all game against Aaron Rodgers. And he caught us in it
and we’re like, oh well we got
it. Run. It ended up scoring a touchdown to Jordy Nelson. But
he ended up walking by and kind
of tapped me on my butt like nice try. So I got to get him
back for that. That’s been there
for ten years. But he’s he’s a hell of a player I think. You
know last year you know
everybody looks at it from, you know, a very critiquing setting
which everyone should they’re
allowed to do that. But I looked at it in a sense of some of the
positive things he’s done. I
think he’s a couple field goals away from having a winning
record, and I still feel like
he’s slinging the ball around. He has, you know, the confidence
of anybody, especially being a
four time MVP of the league. So he’s coming into that Steelers
who are ready and primed to have
a guy at the helm, at the quarterback position to take him
where they want to go. I feel
like they have a good offensive coordinator with Arthur Smith,
who’s going to get back to that
ground and pound, and I’m excited to see Aaron Rodgers
under center to see if he likes
it or not. There you go. So you got Miles Garrett wants to put
Aaron Rodgers in his Halloween
graveyard Kyle Van Noy has got a decade long I’m trying to I’m
trying to have friendly fun. You
know I I’m not going that far. I’m just saying the breaking
news. It’s going to be
competitive in the AFC North this year. It is every single
year. It’s that kind of football
in the AFC North. But for now, enjoy some contact free golf.
Enjoy what looks like a
beautiful day behind you. You guys are doing great work with
your charity Kyle, we appreciate
you joining us here on The Insiders. My man. We made it
done Mike. Thanks, Kyle. Now
we’re good. We got it done. Kyle Van Noy looking to get after a
quarterback near you. Not this
guy though. They don’t play the Titans this year. The Ravens
don’t cam Ward off to a fast
start as a rookie in the spring. It’s about to get real Sarah
Walsh going to be joining us to
talk about cam Ward and the Titans expectations this season.
4th of July savings are at The
Home Depot. So liven up, mayhem. It’s a miracle. Can you
believe it? Get NFL RedZone now.
Oh good catch. Boy, do a lot of good balls. A lot of stuff to
work on off tape. You know, for
the quarterback position. It’s the hardest position in all
sports. You don’t know what’s
chasing you. It’s just the most wanted position in all the
sports that’s on me. That’s not
a lot of people get the opportunity to do it. So we’re
going to turn this pick in here
and make it the number one pick. How’s that sound? Good luck kid
I always had this dream of
playing in the NFL. You only get a short amount of time to play
football. People gravitate to
him because they understand how bad he wants to be a great
player. You know, 32 people in
NFL who get a chance to do it. And so, you know, I’m blessed.
Cam Ward, just a matter of weeks
before he is the guy for the Titans. Even if Brian Callahan
and Tennessee haven’t officially
said that Sarah Walsh joining us. Mark Ross is back as well.
Let’s talk about the Titans.
Let’s talk about cam Ward. Sarah, what you’re hearing out
of Tennessee with how he looked
in the spring. Well, first of all, let’s start with the fact
that there is no lack of
confidence. He was asked what that confidence level is heading
into training camp now. He
didn’t even hesitate for a second. He said that confidence
level is at a ten. His teammates
can see that the leadership, the poise. Another rookie, Jim Dike,
said that he’s everything you
really expect him to be. He says. He has the presence. He’s
a good leader, he’s talented, he
says. He throws it like you would expect him to throw it.
And despite that rookie status
and you heard him talking a little bit on the video, we just
watched him not afraid to trash
talk already. You can throw that rookie status out the window
when it comes to that because
Jeffrey Simmons, who is the leader of the Titans defense, he
got into it with Ward a little
bit, got after him, and they went back and forth, which
really sort of sent a message to
the team. And Ward said he loves it. Simmons would get after him
and let him know that he is
there, ask where he believes he is improved the most so far, and
obviously it’s a very short NFL
career so far, really just an off season for cam Ward, he
said. The protections,
understanding the protections, being comfortable with those
protections. And while the
Titans and the rest of the league are going to be on a
little bit of a break right now,
Ward said he wants to get back to work immediately. So there’s
not really a time, Mark Ross
that he can shut his brain off from thinking about football.
Probably do it for a couple of
days, but he says it’s on his mind all the time, no doubt. And
that’s what the great ones do.
And I love that you mentioned his confidence, but been around
a lot of players, Scott, a lot
of players that had some false confidence. But with cam, you
can tell that’s genuine. But the
confidence is always he’s talking about the team and
getting better and making
improvements. It’s never really about himself. So that’s what I
love. That’s what great
quarterbacks exude. And I think for the Titans I think they
could just look in their own
division with the Texans and C.J. Stroud two years ago as a
rookie, no one at that point was
talking about that team, saying they’re going to go win the
division, win a playoff game,
and then give the Chiefs a lot to handle in the playoffs. So I
think they can just look at
that. Where the Titans are, where you may have some question
marks about the overall talent,
but if cam Ward is everything he looks like he can be and I
believe he can be, he can raise
the level of that whole entire organization much the way C.J.
Stroud did two years ago, much
in the same way Jayden Daniels did last year for Washington.
Same situation. Nobody is really
talking about Washington saying they’re going to make it to the
NFC Championship game. So if cam
Ward delivers on the field and off the field with his teammates
believing in him, Mike the
Titans can do some things. You guys talk about Cam Ward’s
confidence. Go back to his pro
day when in the middle of the workout, he turned right towards
the Tennessee Brass and said, I
am solidifying it today. They had gotten a sense that that was
the way that he approached
things, but for them to see it live and in person, they already
got a look at it and now seeing
it in the spring. Speaking of the spring, here comes the
summer, Sarah. Here comes
training camp. What was Brian Callahan’s message to the team
before training camp arrives? He
basically said, be ready. So if you’re a player in this league,
this isn’t really a vacation
time for you. Aside from taking a couple days off, he said, guys
need to be getting ready to ramp
back up because now is when it counts. I spoke with our former
first rounder, Peter Skowronski,
the lineman, about how does this team. When you look at the
record from last season, just
three wins, how do they get motivated? He said. That’s
exactly how they get motivated.
He said it left a sour taste in their mouth after last season.
That is motivation anytime now
that you step out onto the field. He also told me that this
is a Titans team that has a lot
to fix and that has been the theme of their offseason, he
said. It has been Callahan’s
M.O. Now. Callahan talked about sins. He said those are
self-inflicted negatives, false
starts, pre-snap penalties, things that obviously me with
this shirt on or what I would
call if I was officiating the game. He said that they have
been emphasizing getting those
down. He has seen them trending downwards this offseason. And he
said, what you emphasize is what
is going to change. And he says that they have emphasized those
things dramatically. They really
bothered him last year. And with another year of Callahan under
their belts, he said overall,
this offense understands better what he’s going to call, why
he’s calling, what he calls.
This is a Titans team. And Mark just touched on it. They
finished last in their division
the last two seasons. They are tired of that. They are ready
for change Mike G. Yeah this is
a big season for Callahan and the coaching staff to show that
they can get this season. This
team on the rise a little less than a month to training camp
before they get the chance to
start doing that. Sarah. Mark thank you. You’re back with us a
little bit later. Stacy. Yes,
Mike. From the AFC South to the AFC East we go that guy right
there, the reigning most
valuable player in the National Football League has had a very
busy offseason, got married
recently. Hailee Steinfeld, congratulations to Josh Allen.
Bills as you see right there.
Report to training camp July the 22nd. And until somebody can
knock them off in the division,
they will continue to chase Super Bowls as we bring in
Cameron Wolfe, who knows all the
ins and outs of the AFC East. Cam, we all saw it last year,
right? They go 13 and four. The
Buffalo Bills. It was a fantastic season and then they
fall short. Once again the AFC
Championship down by the Kansas City Chiefs. How do they get
over the hump at this young
stage in your mind Stacy. The hardest jump for a team is to go
from really good to great. And
that’s where the bills are right now. Josh Allen has done
everything that he’s can do. You
mentioned that MVP title, but they just haven’t been able to
get over the hump. But the real
reason has been their defense not showing up in those crucial
moments. Five straight years
playoff losses, 27 points or more allowed by that defense.
And this year they’re trusting a
lot of newcomers to be the pieces to take them over the
top. That’s something that was
clear throughout the spring. And we’ll watch through training
camp. You start with that pass
defense and quarterback. They drafted Maxwell Harrison in the
first round. And he’s had an up
and down journey in the spring trying to win a starting spot
from Tre’davious White the
veteran they brought back. They’re going to need one or
both of those guys to be able to
stop Lamar Jackson and the Ravens week one, and ideally the
Ravens and Chiefs in the
playoffs. Also on the edge rusher group, they went and
signed Joey Bosa thinking maybe
he’s the last piece that can help them and sack a Patrick
Mahomes on third down. Well,
he’s already got an injury. He’s dealing with a calf injury that
kept him out of spring. He’s
hopeful that he’ll be back in July, but it’s been a story of
Joey Bosa career and having
injuries as of late. And so they’re going to put a lot of
trust in their rookies. I know
Landon Jackson and TJ Sanders are second and third round pick.
They expect them to contribute
early. I had some conversations with their general manager,
Brandon Beane, he says. We think
we have enough an edge in the pressure department, but we’re
not going to know until
September. And ultimately this team is not going to be judged
by if they win another AFC East
title, it’s going to be can they finally get Josh Allen a
different ring than the one that
he got this spring? Great points. Maxwell Harrison was a
pick six monster out of
Kentucky. And so Bills Mafia. Have some fun things in store
with that young man in the
secondary. Let’s shift now to the Miami Dolphins. I guess we
could say and agree perhaps cam,
that until proven otherwise. Josh Allen owns this team and
that’s who they’re chasing. When
you stare down this roster, you’re very familiar with them.
What is the outlook realistic
outlook really for Mike McDaniels club Stacy pressure is
more intense on Mike McDaniel
and the Dolphins than it’s ever been in this era. I’ve been
there almost every day this
offseason, and there’s so much talk within the players about
where different team, the
culture is changing. The accountability is changing. Now,
I’ve talked to some people in
that building culture isn’t a word they’ve used as far as
their plan within the building,
but it’s sort of a bridge. They’re trying to show that this
is a different team, and when I
went up on my homework there, I was like, can a dolphin really
change its colors? Turns out
Amazon pink dolphins can change colors. From a nature
standpoint, this Dolphins team
is going to be challenged to change its colors from a team
that many people who played them
thought was soft, thought they were front runners. A team that
scored a lot of points but
didn’t have the toughness and the road. And it was interesting
hearing Bradley Chubb, one of
their star defenders, when asked why is this year different last
year you guys said we were a
different team. He said, well, we were lying. Last year. We
maybe dipped our foot into the
changing mentality, but this year we’re going all in. I can
tell you this, I’ve watched him
in camp. On paper, they look like a team that is less
talented, but they are younger
and they’re betting on the development with these younger
players, new leaders and the
hope that we can do it from the players to change that
mentality. But ultimately we’re
not going to be able to believe them until we see it in the fall
on the field. I know you cannot
wait for those hot Miami training camp days. Cam coming
up right there July 22nd. I know
you got the fits ready for that. Thank you my friend. Great
information right there. We got
a lot more to come on the program as we get ready for
another front office view.
Players that are guaranteed to improve in 2025. Mark Ross is on
the other side of this break. At the El Camino, Tarantino. At.
Time to take a front office
view. That means a high, you know, angle view looking down on
things, right? That’s what front
office means. Mark Ross, you would know you’ve been in a few
of them and you’ve got an
article on NFL.com, NFL.com, backslash Ross to see it.
Players guaranteed to improve in
2025. So let’s start with the first one. This guy did improve
within 2024. But I think you’re
saying even more in 25 Bryce Young Bryce Young no doubt his
rookie season. Mike I never root
for players. But his rookie season early last season I just
wanted to give him a hug. You
know the confidence that you saw at Alabama just was not there.
Those last ten games. You saw
the confidence that was most important. He was carrying
himself like a winner in six of
those ten, he led the team to either a game tying or game
winning scores at the end. And
then the production went up as well. Now you got Ted McMillan,
the big receiver out of Arizona,
the big rookie in there to pair with Xavier Legette backfield
Rico Dowdle great free agent
signing to go with Chuba Hubbard. A lot of playmakers at
his disposal. But most
importantly Mike Bryce has got his swag back. Yeah. Too many
chefs in the kitchen in his
rookie season. Dave Canales and company did a nice job with him
in year two. This is an
interesting one because usually at this point of their careers,
players don’t improve. But Deebo
Samuel well Deebo is still only 29. Everybody’s talking about
him like he’s an old man or
something. But most of it is because of the injuries. You
know he was banged up last year.
People were talking about the weight, but maybe it looks
different in that Washington
uniform from San Fran. Not as slim, but I think with Deebo, if
he stays healthy, he is in by
far his best position where the best quarterback he’s ever
played with. Sorry, Jimmy G and
Brock Purdy, but a legit MVP candidate in Jayden Daniels and
then also the best receiver
complement. He’s played with a legit number one receiver in
Terry McLaurin. Get that
contract situation worked out to go with all the other playmakers
and solid offensive line that
Washington has there. Year two with Dan Quinn system. So with
Deebo he’s going to stay healthy
Mike. And he’s got the best quarterback in receiving duo
that he’s ever been around. Yep.
The injuries yes. And you wonder you put them in a new system
here. How much will he be able
to succeed. You talk about it in terms of the quarterback factor.
Maybe that’s the biggest factor
there for him. So you put it there extremely well. This one I
like Milton Williams heading up
to New England. And listen he has to be if you’re going to say
from the Patriot’s standpoint
all that money was worth it. Well he’s got a he’s got to live
up to it. It’s always risky to
say, well he essentially was a backup. You know, it was Carter
and Davis there the first round
pick. So he’s essentially a backup. But he played like a
starter. He played like a legit
playmaker. Can he continue that. The Patriots are certainly
paying him like that. And I
think the skill set he will do that. Let the defensive tackles
and pressure rate and he really
secured the bag Mike as we know in the playoffs and the Super
Bowl with his two sacks to go
along with the whole entire revamped Patriots organization,
starting with Mike Vrabel and
all the signings on defense with Carlton Davis. Christian Barmore
is coming back as well.
Defensive tackle Keon White another year there on the
defensive line. So I think
Milton Williams is guaranteed to pick up where he left off and
earn that money. $26 million per
season on a four year deal with the New England Patriots. I saw
somebody at some point saying,
how did Howie Roseman let that one get away? You can’t keep
everybody. They had too many
good players at the defensive tackle position. That’s a good
problem to have. So New England
says we’ll take one of those in Milton Williams, who is
guaranteed to improve, according
to Mark Ross. Check it out right there. NFL.com backslash Ross
for the full breakdown. Thank
you. Mark, are the Jaguars guaranteed to improve? No.
Nothing is ever a guarantee in
this league. But do they have a chance to do so. We’re going to
ask Sarah Walsh and Cam Wolfe
our resident Florida reporters coming up to talk about that.
That’s after the break on the
insiders. Grind hard. Push pull. story to tell. Take control at
Ready.gov adults. I neglected to
mention earlier in the show that the Jaguars announced the
signing of Travis Hunter by
tweeting out, we signed wide receiver Travis Hunter, and then
a minute later saying we signed
defensive back Travis Hunter with two different pictures of
Hunter. Reminded me of the
Spider-Man meme, where two Spider-Man’s are pointing at
each other. Yes, he plays both
positions if you’re just tuning in and if you’re just tuning in,
that is Stacey Dales, Sarah
Walsh and Cameron Wolfe joining us to talk Jaguars, starting
with Sarah on Trevor Lawrence’s
recovery. That shoulder that he’s been recovering from.
Sounds like the Jaguars are
confident everything’s going to be a full go. Yeah Trevor
Lawrence certainly feels that
way. It’s been a long time since he had thrown a football, at
least for him. Four months off
of not throwing from a surgery that happened in December. He
said that he’s been working on a
few things, some subtle things this offseason. His footwork,
not major changes, and then
using his eyes as a weapon against the defense. Little
things that he has picked up
from video. Now, you just mentioned Travis Hunter, the
freshly inked deal for him. He
also has Brian Thomas Jr, who had an incredible rookie season
last year rewriting the Jaguars
rookie record books. And now you get the draft, darling in
Hunter, Lawrence says that he’s
already seen Travis Hunter grow tremendously during this
offseason, but he said now is
the time that he can get his mind right. Reset a little bit
because he’s had so much thrown
at him. And Trevor also said in the next couple of weeks he’s
going to be spending quite a bit
of time with Hunter so that they can work on timing and then also
just to be going over everything
in a new system, because it’s not just new to Hunter, it’s
really new to everyone. On the
Jags with the new head coach cam. Yes, Sarah there’s a
special energy in Jacksonville.
There’s a special vibe. And it becomes a part of a team that
you want to see. Travis Hunter
that draft pick brings a lot of eyeballs. And I talk to a
Jaguars coach a couple of weeks
ago and essentially asked what Travis looked like in camp. He
said he is different. He’s been
an unmovable, unstoppable ball of energy. And I joked a little
bit with him about that because
everybody wants to ask, can he truly play wide receiver and
cornerback? That is the plan for
him. He played 112 snaps per game at Colorado. I think his
conditioning is different. He
has been working on both sides of the ball, one on each day.
More offense than defense. They
want him to be a wide receiver first, but eventually when he
gets on the field in the fall,
he will have packages on defense and be a full time receiver on
offense. They think that duo
with him and Brian Thomas can be versatile and special. Yeah. And
Sarah, we’ll go right back to
you. You know Liam Cohen very well. He makes the quick trip
from being the offensive
coordinator there in Tampa three hours north to Jacksonville
takes over as head coach. How
quickly can he transform things there. Well look he transformed
things pretty quickly in Tampa.
It took him all of one season to go land himself a head coaching
gig. So the Buccaneers now
granted they have a Hall of Famer and Mike Evans. They’ve
got a Baker Mayfield who’s
coming off now back to back career years. And then they had
a rookie running back in Bucky
Irving who went absolutely ballistic. But Liam deservedly
so. Got a lot of credit for
getting the run game going there in Tampa, which had been stalled
out, Cohen told his team.
They’ve got a lot of material to continue to go over as they get
ready for this season. But aside
from the X’s and O’s, aside from the installs, Cohen said this
offseason was ultimately about
gaining trust with all these new players. As for Lawrence, Cohen
said that there are not a lot of
plays in his playbook where Lawrence can just shut his brain
off and hand the football off.
That doesn’t exist. He’s going to have to think every single
play. And he said he’s shown the
ability to get the right play calls off, and that is something
they are going to continue to
work on. But look, the Bucs made some quick adjustments with
Liam, and the Jags are hoping
they can do the same. Yep, the Jaguars hoping to catch some of
that magic that the Buccaneers
had last year. Sarah Walsh Cameron Wolfe, thank you much
for your insight on the Jaguars.
Interesting team to watch this year, not just because of the
Travis Hunter factor Joe Burrow.
Yeah, he can sling it on the football field. What about
office? This was surprising.
You’re going to want to see this coming up next on the insiders.
This isn’t just a crisp Mexican
lager. It’s a beer with a story. All in one place all year long.
Welcome home. All right, look, I
know a football is shaped different than a baseball, but
this is weird. This is like
somebody who was 100 yard, 100 meter sprinter in the Olympics
running the 200 and like,
falling down out of the block, Joe Burrow should be able to
throw a baseball better than
this, right? I mean, Stacey Dales, come on in here because a
lot of folks are giving him a
lot of heck for this. I watched this video too many times. Like
that is so far outside the
strike zone. Let me get this straight, okay? He has career
highs in like passer rating,
completion percentage. He led the league in passing yards.
Mike he completed almost 71% of
his footballs last season. This is perplexing to me. Absolutely.
Yeah yeah he gets it eventually.
He’s got you know a little upper upper outside corner cheese
right there or inside corner if
it’s a lefty. But yeah, there’s a couple of weird. Seemed like
he couldn’t like the football
differently. Why is this thing going left. Right. Yeah. Go
submarine and definitely come
back for us for the Insiders on Tuesday. Thank you for joining
us here on Monday. The insiders

  1. Everything Philly lost, was replaced in the offseason , idk what they talking about… And everybody got another year under there belt… Repeat

  2. The title for this YT video should really be called "Low Key Hating On The Eagles While Gagging To A Cucumber With Their Salty Mouths Waiting For It To Turn Into A Pickle"……more or less.

  3. Yeah yeah yeah… we heard all this about stroud before to. And look how he regressed. Defenses adjust. But the media loves drooling over rookie qbs. Yet Jalen has been to two superbowl and won one yet he gets dissed. Smh

  4. The point he made at 3:00 about the Qb deal for the eagles is NASTY Narrative framing. Compare Jalen’s cap hit to his in division contemporary Dak Prescott.
