[Music] [Applause] [Music] hamburg in Germany is the latest stop for the ladies European tour and it’s shaping up to be a great weekend at the Amundi German Masters Rookie Amelia Garvey bringing her talents to the four After a quiet start to the year Alice Houston has certainly come to life in Germany Another tournament another week in contention for Singapore’s finest Shannon Tan Ellen Sudo with every reason to smile celebrating her 27th birthday with a visit to the top of the leaderboard alongside Helen Bream the teenage German giving hope of a home winner for the second year in a row 21 players start the weekend within five shots of the lead Three of them Germans including Hamburg’s own and Soheim star Esther Henselike For the fourth year in a row the Ladies European tour is in Germany for the Amundi German Masters A new venue though for an event that always seems to throw up some drama A familiar spot for those of you who are keen watchers of European golf We’re on the north course at Green Eagles Resort just south of Hamburg a venue that for the previous 7 years had hosted the men’s European tour The course comes with a reputation known as the Green Monster a layout with almost every hole featuring water The 18th gets the ferris wheel as well It’s regarded as one of the hardest courses in Europe but the setup this week has been kind It’s a par 73 today playing just under 6,300 yds Conditions have been up and down the first few days We’ve had a mix of sunshine and showers and wind It had been a gorgeous summer’s morning but it’s clouded up this afternoon in the north of Germany I’m Richard Kaufman alongside former LE player Sophie Walker A lot of talk Sophie about this golf course Doesn’t seem to have borne its teeth really over the first couple of days
No you’re right And I think that’s because they changed the course setup to match the weather And then guess what the weather changed we were expecting thunderstorms heavy rain gale force winds over Thursday and Friday morning and that just didn’t happen Now today after the cut we pushed a few tea boxes back but with all the rain that we’ve had the greens are still quite receptible However that westerly wind will bring more of these penalty areas into play 17 lakes Well 17 holes have lakes on this golf course and it’s going to be interesting to see on a a moving day of Saturday What is a good score around here now well one or two are making headway Let’s check out Play got underway just before 9:00 this morning Quite breezy out there right now so that might uh trip up a couple or two Let’s check out the order of merit first And uh worth reminding you Helen Bream Shannon Tan very much in the mix coming into the weekend Best ranked players on the order of merit A win for either of them would take them above Kra Gain and into third spot behind three-time winner Mimi Rhodess and twotime champion Sarah Kuska So as I promised we’d check out who’s been doing what Let’s see who’s been going Let’s start with the world ranked number 21 player
Esther Henselite who is from Hamburg started four back she boated the six This is a T-shot on eight the par three [Applause] [Music] And you can hear can’t you from the cheers that she has a lot of support out there been very much in the focus both on and off the course And this is what they’ve come to see Gets her back to level half for the day That was her at four under Yeah no one really getting away Off to the par five ninth One of five par fives over the last 10 holes
And yesterday she had to get up and down from this spot for par Not today She would tap that in for birdie Go out in minus one Yes So really picking up some momentum but unfortunately here was a stopper Seemed like a a routine par Unbelievably Hensonite missed it Let’s hope she can bounce back from that Par five 11th coming up next for the German Soho Cup player Now Hannah Green is looking for four top 10s in a row She opened with two birdies A bogey on the third and then that there on nine took her to six under par Off to the par five 11th I mentioned just a moment or two ago Nastasia Nadau Greenside in two had just finished with birdies at eight and nine Her first start since finishing as a runner up in Belgium a couple of weeks ago and she’s right up there again as is Shannon Tan She had the lead by a couple She’d birded four and five and then missed a short one there on seven bogey So she’s minus eight Unbelievably that was her first drop shot in 40 holes Shannon Tan on the green in two at the par 511 for Hannah screen Long eagle putt 90 ft up the hill from right to left Got the pace right She would knock that one in Get herself to seven underpar and one back of Shannon Tap Yeah you might be wondering what’s happened to the overnight leaders Enidor Sudo and Helen Breen playing in that final group with Shannon Tan Well not a birdie between them There you go Both at seven under G uh Amelia Garvey Birdie the seventh drop shot for Sudo at three and for Bream at four Dick Shadaga has gone out in 33 No drop shots couple of birdies and uh some good performances out there Bronty Law three birdies in the first five holes got off to a fly Lean Pace has just burned 10 [Music] Great to see some youngsters out there being inspired by the current generation Oh it’s packed out there They’re all looking for autographs Ninth hole downwind off the right 569 But just a layup for Tam See the ball up there alongside Shannon Tans was Eleanor Sudo all laid up I believe here at nine B not able to get home at this par five There are a lot of par fives but we noted yesterday I think and I still think that’s the case Sophie there’s only been two eagles this week and actually one of them came at a par four Correct At the 11th hole is the only par five that the players will be going for That’s because of its distance and its downwind We saw Hannah Green reach the green The likes of 9 and 18 it has this cross bunker It’s called a waste bunker It has a water all the way down the left hand side Nine and 16 very similar They’re just that long that there’s no point in going for them to because you can’t reach it In fact nine you need to a good t-shirt off off sorry a good t-sh just in order to get within that 100 yards They are brutes proper par fives Okay Yeah Well you can see from the grass behind Helen Breen that the wind has certainly picked up this afternoon Her last three starts on the Ladies European tour fifth second and fourth Co-leader after days one and two as she was a couple of weeks ago in Belgium And it was a quiet weekend Eight under par in Belgium Yeah like you say top of the leaderboard Ended up finishing fourth because she shot level for the last two rounds to a point to prove to herself It would mean such a lot for her to win on her professional debut in Germany She’s looking for a second ladies European Tour title Hannah Screen looking for a first and going as well as anybody out on the course Three under for the day
Back right pin here for Screen trying to chop the legs from underneath it Nicely done funny having her in the commentary box uh on Thursday talking as if she she wasn’t even sure she would belong out here on the ladies European tour She wanted to be the broadcaster I remember speaking to her and saying “Look if you do want to be a broadcaster you better have a playing career behind you.” So she kind of turned pro with that thought process Again part of a game she’s been working really hard on Embra just didn’t quite dig its heels in there Downwind pitch shot She has been working on trying to put more spin on the golf ball She noticed in Belgium that her wedges were releasing So that’s what she’s been working on this week with her coach Well I suppose no real surprise to see Helen Bream and and Shannon Tan up there You know I mentioned Bream top five in her last three starts Shannon Tan’s been top 10 in her last three 94 yds That flag on 11 So it’s in the front third of this green The pin on 11 The depth of the green 37 But it’s a downwind shot She’s got the best click in women’s golf town and the ball reacts to it
She really goes looking for them wedges doesn’t she she get down deep into the the divot angle of attack She’s actually changed her shaft She’s gone for the same shaft that she’s had in her irions A lot of players think well I don’t want graphite in my wedges do I but it’s worked really well for her fuller shots with them
So no surprise to see Bream and Tan up there Maybe more of a surprise though to see Edenosudo up there The Swed starting the week 87th on the order of merit One over par today Just that one bogey on the third There may be a chance for a first birdie there went out for a Greek meal with mom and dad last night to celebrate her 27th birthday Off to 10 Alice Houston from the right hand side front right pin found Her approach play has been outstanding this week One bogey one birdie so far for her Now headlight after that miss at 10’s got some making up to do This could help This is for Eagle at the par five 11th They tried for it They were willing it to edge to the right But she’s doing what she needs to do despite that miss from nowhere at the start of this back night World ranking wise she’s by far the best player in the field So she has to stay patient in herself 10th

And it’s been a very steady day One birdie no drop shot so far for the Kiwi And here’s another chance for Hannah screen This would take her into a tie for the lead alongside Shannon Tan Yeah
Well she told us how she’d been working really hard on her putting It is reaping some rewards Little fist pump for is it Yanick she only just found him as a caddy this week She played in the proam and her prom partner said “I’ve got someone that will caddy for you.” He’s cied in a few tournaments around this golf course So Hannah Screen alongside Shannon Tan Helen Bream to join them That’s the third day in a row she’s had a makeable puck on this green and has been unable to make one No birdies on the front nine for Bream South Africa’s Leanne Pace A belly wedge played it like a foot there She now has her own clothes and she has her own golf clubs Having two days without them they were stuck at Paris airport

She did She’s kept the putter cuz she said the putter it comes off a little bit differently And she’s been putting lights out with it for the past two days But all the irons all the woods they’re her own and her clothes So Florentina Parker will get her clothes
hopefully washed out Ellen Sudo admitted yesterday she was very nervous Her legs she said were shaking at times out on the course Not that you’d know it She she controlled them superbly to shoot a round of 70 It’s been a I suppose an edgy start one over par for the day but this really would settle things down Chance to open up the birdie account and get herself back to the top of the leaderboard just edge its way from left to right as it goes down this slope Just what she needed Well a couple of weeks ago we were in Belgium and Darcy Harry was celebrating her birthday there and took a trophy as a nice little present home So the models the same And it’s just that her putter is the black version of this Scotty Cameron Oh that was a push Nothing to do with the putter there Shame Pace drops one on one of the easiest holes on the golf course to minus four
Sorry S That’s two we’ve seen in what we’ve been on 15 minutes or so Head salite and now pace just from nowhere tan to try and edge out ahead again and she does So out in a couple par 35 front nine 38 back n par 73 in total there are six par fives back in the lead So took a medicine with the pitch shot over the bunker Really good

Listen she’s a player who’s been struggling to make cuts Suddenly you’re in that rarified air Whereas for players like Shannon Tan and Helen Bream it’s becoming a weekly occurrence
Three top 10s in a row for Tan looking for a first win of the season They try and draw this one Hold it against a westerly wind from the left Sit a rare miss fairway hits over 90% on the ladies European tour So that’s her one miss for today
She actually missed two yesterday after hitting 100% on Thursday Oh let’s see what Bream’s got Driver she could get close to getting home couldn’t she oh that’s needs to get down Water all the way down the left It’s up Stayed up Might not be a bad angle actually to a front right pinch He won’t know if that’s dry or not As tall as Michelle Wi is Helen Green Maybe inch or so bigger It’s 6’2 Is she yeah she’s the tallest player on the ladies European tournament Those long levers generate some power Sophie the
setup’s perfect See how she keeps that club face quiet No rolling of the wrists She closes the face there through impact which means that it turns over starts further left than she would have wanted to Not so such a big crowd following the final threeville because uh couple of groups ahead of them is Esther Henselite Helen Bream is the young German star whereas Henselite is very much the poster girl of this week’s tournament Lovely shot it to 10 for PC Best way to start the bat n She gets within two Well a frustrating miss over at 11 for Leam Pace [Music] Two tier green there Not quite finding that back level That’s the way to get around isn’t it dad’s shoulders Good view from up there
He’s going to eat though tomorrow I can tell you that from experience Oh played one there Dagger opted to not take the lob wedge out Maybe use the gap wedge It came out flatter Released back to that pin Birdie put to come
Dave Brooker Heratti watching on Hence the ready to go Nearly hold it here yesterday Pin now on the right hand side Well that was a little bit of misjudgment for me Henssonite last year’s Olympic silver medalist At the moment she is in the group of five under par Anna Foster and Carolyn Calfman both starting the bat nine with three birdies in four holes They’ve moved into the top 10 Shannon Tan leading the way [Music] One left in Brie one right in Tan She’s got different style as she kind of rolls the wrists out lays it off at the top Massive rotation through the golf ball and after it Y looks like the grass is going with her which will mean the ball should come out quicker She’ll be aiming at the dark patch to the left of the bunker So that’s about 20 ft to the left of that pin that sits 9 yards from the edge anything at it brings in that front bunker That needs to go Oh it did That’s some result there by Shannon Dan Well that was a bit of a gamble but it paid this a better angle to get at that flag
A lot better We mentioned it’s 39 yards long this green but she’s playing up it He’s got 13 yards to work with A lush lie That’s delightful That is superb from Broom Well given what we’ve seen already I don’t quite want to give her that yet but that should well be a first birdie of the ramp brought a smile to the teenager’s face Well when you’ve been struggling with releasing as in is it too much spin or not enough spin when you’ve got a lie like she had there she knew it was going to roll out so played for it Lob wedge for Sudo played a beautiful one into nine This one’s a lot shorter though so more of a half swing about 55 yds wants to land it four short of it Anything left runs away Grabs the slope [Applause] [Music] downhill left to right One to come Great to see her enjoying herself in the midst of the battle at the top of the leaderboard screen looking just to push on in what’s been a wonderful round It’s another excellent shot from the English player That pin’s been there all week so they know about the down slope that they have to maneuver it around back a hole to 12 Half a club out with their approach here Pace moving from left to right and up the hill Not for be One or two players who started the day with hopes of a slip back a little bit really Patricia Makova three over par today Sophia Kiborn Nielson again as it seems to have been occurring in recent weeks starting the week well but four over par today Vanny Kapor five over for the round Talia Martin six over for the round So there are players struggling out there Well we understand Hensel tonight’s chipped already here So this is her fourth shot And well she’ll get there eventually This is messy You said it Our leader by one It could be two Other than the line and the pace that was okay Well after watching Esther Hens tonight now watching that hoping for some positive vibes here Come on Dickshshire Show us how it’s done [Music] Well

10 and 11 are your birdie holes on this golf course We’ve seen Hannah Screen do it Carolyn Calfman also playing the second easiest hole on the golf course This 10th hole and then the 11th plays the easiest Down a slide here Want to break off the the bunker to the left hand side of her Missed a couple low and right yesterday on that back nine coming in just needs to take care of this start line hanging on the edge just a part managed to get her car back her qualifying score at the end of last year even though uh she started there with a 79 climbing the leaderboard every day Now Messihole needs to hold this for bogey head Bogey birdie bogey to start the back nine Tid is up well does the leader Shannon Tan Ellen Bream’s had to stay patient hasn’t she Sophie well she’s had a six on a par five Other than that there’s been nothing to report from Bream It’s a golf course that she’ll hit wedges in a lot Averages over 270 yards from the tea box Well yesterday she started birdie birdie birdie birdie the first three holes So didn’t have to wait long yesterday to start picking them up But it’s only going to come here at hole 10 [Applause] back within one We saw the European bracelets the Vaglano trophy this week over in Holland That’s GBNI against Continental Europe And it’s currently 7 and a half to GBNI and 8 12 to Continental Europe
Murdy for Hannah screens gets herself to nine under
and in to a share of the lead again This is a fantastic round she’s putting together Breeze is picking up three in a row five under for the day finished top 12 in her last four ladies European tour starts So not as if this hasn’t been coming We had the pleasure of her company in the commentary box on Thursday said how she’d be working on the pace of those putts [Music] putting together the round of the day Shannon having company again with Hannah screen Helen Bream gets her first bird of the day alongside her co-overnight leader Eden Sudo been steady gold from Amelia Garvey and Carolyn Calfman and Anna Foster another couple players who are going well Foster the Irish rookie and Calfman who is without full rights on tour So that’s how things stand right now into the back nine Day two of this Amundi German Masters [Music] off the back of the birdie at 10 Sophia another opportunity you’d say for Helen B
This downwind par five is a waste bump at 300 yd which is why Bream is hitting this 3-wood So they’ll have 180 yards to the front edge from there O carrier 3wood 270 yards there [Music] Well laid the foundation to her round on day one where she played this back nine fantastically well Came back in five under for a 68 So led the way with Bream after day one Same after day two alongside Bream again at 8 under now There’s birded this hole every day Sudo have a bit of that Well this is a hole where she can go for the green in two Running out of fairway but sitting fine She’s been spoken to her coach Emil Kessle about just being a little more cautious You know question your decision making and apparently he was saying don’t go for the green at four yesterday and she did and she went in the water She still made par though He don’t listen do they shannon hit it down the left hand side here yesterday So had a blind second shot That’s down the right spinny one which means it might not go as far as you would like She’ll still be within range about 200 yds to the front there Was looking for the draw and just open that face again That’s a couple in a row Well it’s certainly not cold this morning though It was beautiful sunshine very warm It’s clouded over It certainly got windier players who went out this morning We had a 68 from Lawn of Mlimant who was part of the Great Britain Idan winning team in the Curtis Cup last year [Music] That’s good from there Garvey showing her strength from the thick rough
One under par so far today The Kiwi in a tie for fifth spot Tough old 14 par three over Walter Hannah screen plays the second hardest hole on the golf courses 139 No issue How about four in a row wouldn’t put it past her the way she’s going Sure will come in the commentary box every week the way she’s going just checked on it Yeah [Music] last three years we were in Sedan in Berlin We had some dramatic finishes there This year we’re in the north of the country just south of Hamburg at Green Eagle Golf Resort Esther Henselite made a little bit of a a mess of uh the last hole Shannon Tan top of the leaderboard but I’m not sure her dad actually might want to win this week because uh he’s a big fan of a certain Esther Henselite I’ve seen her win the silver medal at the Olympics last year and then I think my dad’s a big fan of her as well So like he keeps saying that I have to be more like Esther and stuff But I mean like she’s played well last year and then I think last time was my rookie year when I’ve always seen her name up there So it was nice to play with her You’re going to have to go get a autograph for your dad then aren’t you it’s I’m a bit too awkward to ask but like it took I haven’t asked Georgia Hall for her autograph so clearly I don’t know how to ask Well good luck for the weekend And if you win here maybe they’ll ask you Good luck

Another player on form this one down the hill A hair from right to left Get there That is agonizing for Amelia Garvey Not making her power pay at either 10 or 11 She’s going to have to try and stay patient No drop shots for her but just the one birdie Just a path Alice Houston like Shannon Town won on her first professional debut on the Ladies European Tour down at the South African Open It
took a while to get number two but that came last season in Switzerland Played one there So the green cleared at 11 which means the final three ball will be able to strike here I mentioned that spinny T-OT for Tan that’s left a 200 yds to the front edge 231 to the back where this pin is So 231 flag down off the right so he can use the wind Wants to carry the front bunker that everybody’s in That carries 210 [Music] It’s in the wispy stuff Third cut of rough It did carry the bunker There’s a bit of room there Probably better off being there than in the bunker if the liies Okay 37 yds long this green The flag 31 on six from the back Is

super someone said really is that is fabulous again from B [Applause] She just seems to take it all in her stride Looking for a second win already One in the east coast of Spain at Laa last season But here’s the player who is going best of anyone out on the course Double breaker screen for a two Have to pay this hole some respect That’s okay Half a screen Stays at nine Just run out of fairway here Shudo 200 y to that flag with the down wind It’s 185 Take a little bit off that as well Looking at a 165 pitch all things considered It carries that bunker It’s going to come out hot on that green That’s unlucky This green sits diagonally across you from bottom right to back left So it’s the right stick It looks like she’s kind of pushed it but it’s barely a push because of the way that green sits across This will be some up and down for Dick Shadagger after where she left herself at 12 Fabulous putter though but not this time Started it straight [Music] So first bogey of the day for the Indian lefty who doesn’t look in the mood to chat to dad there
I think Narinda was saying “Nope it was a ball right.” She didn’t hit it there It’s all right telling me now I know that Now see that putter cover there from Helen Breen i saved daddy’s job today cuz he dropped that between the driving range to the putting green So I walked on the putting green and I said “Who have I helped not get fired?” He said “Me I normally lose three things a day.” Not going to get there from Esther Hence [Music] she’s got to stay in touch hasn’t she Esther five back at the moment Yes cuz she’s not had the hot round yet the one that we think oh she’ll have that soon
Well she’s level par today 71’s the first two days She’s going to be playing in Evian in a couple of weeks She finished second in the Scottish Open last year So she’ll be taking out both of those This is what’s been happening so far this season I suppose the start of the year the first third dominated by Mimi Roads and Sarah Kuska You can see Kuska on that page as a team winner at the Aramco career championship And then Kuska with those back-to- back wins in Evian at the Jambre Ladies Open and then in terama golf Darcy Harry breaking through a couple of weeks ago in Hulen in Belgium and then last week Cassandra Alexander with that amazing finish on Sunday at Royal Baroon
A course record a chip in for eagle the mic drop moment to win your first ladies European tour event and some great weeks coming up isn’t there really majors co- action events with the LPJ tour and the KPMG Women’s Irish Open next week where they’re expecting well they’ve sold already 40,000 tickets apparently for that So we’re going to get some more big crowds like we’re seeing here this week in Germany Great there Got 10 yards of green to work with into an ups slope and into some wind or maybe some right to left wind which is going to help looking like she’s trying to play a a well it’s a pitch and run but it’s with a a lob wedge so it’ll come out as a mid-flight land into that front edge and then trying to stun it as such and release it back to that pin Just come out normal rather than fast or too spinning Wow Well there’s a touch for you That is delightful from Shannon Tan You can see the practice swing The practice swing was replicated in the chip shot So often those two don’t match She was talking about how last season her up and down percentage was only 35% So over the winter with her coach Ryan Lumston that’s something they really worked on And you see that all that practice all those hours that we don’t see come to the four in a moment like that She’s enjoying herself isn’t she it’s great to see cuz it’s been I suppose she’s asking for a gap behind the pin I think so she can maybe she can’t see She can only see the top of the flag where from where she is Wants a clear view Now focusing again after the stars
This one should release as it’s downwind from a slight ups slope So she’ll get the high carried it too far AB wasn’t all that comfortable asking the crowd to move beyond Very close to the penalty area Alice but playing a second here at 12 Back right pin Could use the down slope Just wants to fade it around a right bunker Still your turn The words no one likes to hear Just a case of which club here She’s testing out the putter and the wedge was good around the greens yesterday Need a shot and a half This one opt in for the lob wedge She could belly wedge this She could blade it or she could just nudge it a third of the way Looks like she’s going for the nudge Just looking at a landing spot there safe park [Music] Play has played on the LPGA tour Got a card in 2023 Struggled there start of 2024 Thought about stopping Not playing golf as a career anymore but has kept coming through some bright spots for the last few weeks had her best le finish with a top 20 in Belgium and she is relishing and enjoying every step it seems of the way here this weekend in Germany

his ball speed [Applause] [Applause] He’s missed one right on the back nine Now left He’s got to play for some release Land it 30 ft short of the pin If it rolls out great If not take the two pot Angle’s all right though They jumped She didn’t play for it He’s still close Well she made a lovely up and down at 11 for Birdie down the slope Little unlucky here for Hite Didn’t come off that from the T-OT [Applause] Three par fives in the last four holes All of them will be layups today Screen won a rose ladies series event at the Bookinghamshire that sparked her confidence Like Rich has been saying she’s had four top 15s now in a row on the ladies European tour on the back of that win and on very different golf courses as well You know you think about Tenneref think about Hulen Court then the Czech Ladies Open and then being here very different setups Same for Shannon Tan She’s been able to profit from all of them Although she didn’t play last week she stayed in Belgium actually and worked with her coach And Bream was talking about that on the range her and her dad about that reset She’s been working here with her coach coming back to Germany You you play so much golf that you slip into your bad habit Shannon Tam was saying my bad habit on my putting is like I stand too far away from the golf ball And I was getting further and further away You just need somebody to look at you And then Yokim Helen’s dad said “It’s always something simple It’s always something very simple You think “Oh why did I not see that?” And the basics of putting really is get your eyes over the ball That’s one of the first things that you would teach even a beginner cuz I think is it what just two events this year where she’s been positive in her strokes gain pattern

No excellent I know you’ve been out on the course This is the 13th which seems strange to say seeing as it’s the 13th but the last par four on the golf course
Yeah it actually is a strange like unnormal finishing Uh par five par five par three par five What about this 14th hole
uh they’ve had on the last two passes they’ve had quite two tricky pin positions So that one’s on the most narrow spot I mean that’s a great shot honestly Um you just have like 5 m to land it to get it close Yeah three good shots there First time really we’ve caught up today with Kelsey Bennett who’s a couple under for the round [Music] [Applause] Have to get it all the way back there This green just seeps from back to front High hopes for Esther Henselike coming into the week but she’s gone into the water here at 15 So playing her fourth shot at this par five and maybe in the water again I mean you’re you’ve been out of the course today Some great crowds Esther obviously is attracting a lot of them
Yeah I mean yesterday when we teed off Helen and me said it doesn’t feel like a early afternoon on a second day It feels like a final group on a Sunday So it was so much fun playing out there yesterday
I heard you had quite the cheer yesterday Yeah
Tell us about that Well hole three I had 146 to the pin hit a seven iron and then it just rolled all the way around the slope and went in So yeah that was a great moment And I know you’ve won on the ladies European tour You won in Belgium a couple of years ago Was the cheer for that louder than when you won
i think it was way louder because when I won I was in the third last group so I didn’t even realize I was leading when I came in Tell us about this 13th hole That flag’s been in the position so often and why is it hard to get to um so flag I had like 90 m today So top of the slope was 80 m and that’s pretty much the last possible point you can pitch it because from that point everything slopes downhill and then it’s just getting a massive kick and really tough to hold it tidily done from from Sudo today Conditions wise it it looks like it’s been very breezy I mean how windy has it been
um I would say compared to the last two days it definitely picked up It was probably like yesterday towards the evening when the wind got a bit stronger Um but no comparison to the practice rounds where we sometimes hit like three club wind three So in the practice rounds how many club wind compared to today
um so today completely into the wind for example is 18 today with where we clubbed up one and a half I would say and then practice round was like two and a half just to keep it low She’s had to stay patient Amelia Garvey and it’s going to have to remain that way as well
Finding it hard to hold the putts Six under Here is Henselite So it didn’t go in the water We shot four [Music] That’s one of the pins where it was really tough to get it close today because it’s just past the downs slope So you’d boom out have no spot to land it

i mean with the T- boxes moved up there is a chance to go low I think how we played it in uh practice rounds like all T- boxes on the back I couldn’t have seen minus 11 leading after three
Well she’s missed a few greens on this back nine Shallan go up and down twice and hold one That’s going to work for those stats As I said plenty of work here for Hela Bream to now remain just the one shot behind Out of nowhere Seen a twoshot swing there in this final group You know Hayden pretty well Patricia Yeah I mean we’re not playing for the same golf club but we’re practicing on the same golf club So I know her and her sister and the whole family quite well especially since she started playing on tour
You’ve been like kind of the big sister on tour have you
yeah I’m not sure if I’m the big sister or
you talking mature wise Yeah I mean we’re playing all the practice routes together and it’s just a lot of fun
What’s she like cuz on the golf course she seems like she cruises around and walks around What’s she like as a personality i mean she’s really open funny like she kind of sometimes seems like she doesn’t care about anyone’s opinion She just does what like she really feels what’s fun now Um and I think that brings her quite a quite far on the golf course as well because she just does what she feels brings her good That’s the way to learn isn’t it i suppose Well three lovely T- shots there at 14 but it’s going to be three threes [Applause] Very slow birdie put this on the 16th for Kelsey Bennett uphill right to left You think to yourself that’s more than enough and then it just dribbles short the player that was on the so-called wrong side of the draw She’s still inside that top 10 So the final three ball off to this lovely looking but at times terrifying par three A hole that Chopi had a closer look at earlier this week The 14th hole It’s a par three gem but not with crosswinds because look what you’ve got to face over the lake with a green that sits across you Club choice That is so important here You want to make sure you carry the front edge Anything down the left hand side isn’t as big a carry Anything down the right you have to add on maybe 15 yards But if you don’t get it right you think I’m going to go long This green is so narrow just 15 yards from front to back That bunker is going to be very popular when the pin is on the left hand side Players are going to do everything not to have a water ball So you see the banking that’ll be a popular spot too But only 15 yards wide That’s a club and a half So like I said get the right club and if you can hit this green four days in a row well you’re a better golfer than me Well you’ve played it three times Patricia Patricia Schmidt with us in the commentary box You hit the screen three times or not no I didn’t hit it
No I didn’t hit it today Uh hit it the two days before So two out of three at least So so why is it so tricky today do you think
well you can’t really feel the wind 100% because you’re having those trees behind I mean you know there’s wind and it’s only 120 over the water Um and then 124 m to the pin Um so you just have to trust that you get that club there And it looks so narrow the spot where you have to hit it Just no bailout is there cuz you’d think with water right well I’ll just turn it left But you don’t want to be in that bumper right shannon Tan hits more greens than anyone on the le Show us the way [Music] It’s really the only spot to hit it isn’t it there
Yeah pretty much I mean the other spot you could do is like long ride and then just take the little slope into account when you putt

14 I’ve hit a soft eight just to make sure I’m behind the pin and don’t take the water in play Nice to hear that even pros club up over water Sudo next 139 but like Patricia said with that slight downwind probably playing 130 [Music] finds the bunker where we saw Dixie Dagger get up and down from but it’s not easy You’re a big hitter Helen’s a big hitter I mean you’ve hit eight iron here Would you do you know what sort of club Helen might hit here
we’re usually half a club different So I would say if I hit a soft eight she’s hitting a full nine That’s kind of how it always works with us Trying to hold it off but that face looked quite closed That one’s in the sand as well When you close the face it goes longer So a pull there from Helen Bream She’s going to do well to get that one up and down
And it’s a big week I know Patricia playing in your your national championship Here’s Hannah Screen going along really nicely But you are actually quite a long way from home aren’t you yeah it’s not really close to home I mean there’s so many other events that are way closer And I think closest for Helen and me is the Swiss event with like two and a half hours
And what how many hours it from here to your home now we’re in Hamburg Well we came via Brock but I think it’s roughly like 6 hours driving home

Um I do play practice rounds with her a bit as well She’s a really nice funny girl Her boyfriend’s caddying um since I think one or two years and they’re just a really really nice couple to spend time with
Richard likes it when she does well cuz they share the same surname and he never gets to say his name on a leaderboard ever Well there was Smiley Kaufman there was Kim Kaufman and they I think they both quit now haven’t they it’s down to Carolyn Really I think this suits a lefty This 15th hole that right pin use the step to the left of it [Applause] Maybe coming from that first cut of rough downwind just couldn’t get the grab [Music] Well considering the bunker shot she hit on 11 and she got it a bit clean and it ran through the back that was excellent especially with waiting beyond Ellen Bream having to face Friday She’s plugged So what do you do here i mean definitely not go straight to the pin because you just don’t have any space to run out [Applause] Volunteer might have to leave [Applause] That’s really well played I mean kind of the best you can get out of her It’s one out of 10 probably She’s very decisive isn’t she you know we could say quick player but she goes in there she sees it there there It’s It’s really refreshing
Yeah she’s definitely one of the quicker players I think uh when we played in Saudi and she’s usually not the quickest walker and then someone asked her like “Why don’t you just walk faster?” and she’s like “Well you know how fast I’m hitting if I would walk fast.” Like so how do you play the the plugged bunker shot
so for me I usually don’t really close or open the face I just keep it square and then just try to have a lot of angle that I produce and hit it in So I can just accelerate the club through the ball as fast as possible so it gets height
Yeah So it comes in steeper to the to the golf ball

uh I mean third and fourth round I will but the rounds before I try to not I just try to be in the present try to play my best golf and because I kind of can’t influence it anyway
But when you’re playing with someone so Shannon Tan you can see what she’s doing That kind of makes you know that kind of rams it home what’s going on tournament wise
I think it kind of depends which round it is I mean if it’s the last round you obviously kind of have a battle between so you really care what the other one does First two rounds like with Helen it was more like a party we had out there especially with our start yesterday I think we’ve both been four uners before

Yeah Even though I think Elenor she’s so relaxed I feel regarding the golf um what she’s doing the next year So that probably helps her that she says like I either keep my card and continue or I don’t then I’ll start my job because I do have a finished degree
So maybe that’s helping her No up and down for Dick Dagger So back to level path for the day You know you’re going well when the photographers have got their eye on you going really well Two under par Made one bogey three birdies New South Wales Kelsey Bennett How often you got to play with Shannon Town over the last couple of years i think I’ve only played once with her since I’m on tour in Italy two years ago Okay So not for a while
You need to start playing with her more because it means you’re doing all right And every time I watch her she’s inside the top 10 Yeah she’s really playing so consistent And and we talk about um how consistent she is over 80% greens 90% fairways We know you guys are good but can you explain even to you what that means i feel starting with fairways I mean the more fairways to hit you hit the cleaner shots you kind of have into the greens the better positions Like even if you hit it long but then you’re 60 m in the rough you still have to always think about like how is it running out It just makes your life so much more relaxed and easy to get spin control the balls Smash it at that bunker in the distance We’ve said there’s three par fives to close in the final four holes Can you could you get to any of them
so uh 15 yesterday we went for it with hybrid on the second shot since well from the T- box it’s a bit left wind but then into the green it’s downwind so you can definitely reach it Um 16 is really tough to reach I think you really have to stretch Maybe Halen if she wants she might be able It’s just a lot of risk with 16 isn’t it cuz if you go after 16 the chances are you’ll tug it left cuz you’re trying to hit it further and there’s water there [Music] And the run out was 286 yds and she completed that So it’s in the sand for Bream We’ll be inside 200 yds to the front edge but with a back right pin that would be a brave second shot to take on and go for this green
At least the line’s better than the last bunker What do you like about this swing other than everything it’s quite stable and consistent I would say I mean you can still see her left foot like she’s moving a bit but it just looks the same over and over again When were you first aware of Helen cuz from the same era I assume since she was fairly young
Um I think when I was on ex my first year in EX we played a practice round together and I’ve seen her around on a club a bit Uh but that was the first time we actually spent time together and ever since then already
Shannon Tan has taken command of things here on Saturday just south of Hamburg at the Amundi German Masters It’s a decent lead three shots
She has had some Sunday issues in the last few weeks 73 in the final round in Tenneref when she was lurking 74 in Belgium and she was actually leading with two holes to play at the Jabra Ladies Open in Evian just about a month ago and then got picked at the post by Sarah Kuska He’s all right so far
But you keep putting yourself in position and eventually you will get there Incredibly she won in the very first start on the ladies European tour Sometimes those are moments 10 at 12 under par Hannah screen just player closest to her and we’ll be talking about Carolyn Calfman who’s just birdied the last for a round of 68 which is five under par today five under for the back nine This is how she finished Third shot into 18 inside 100 yds Nile Oh it had a look on the way by That’s an incredible bat n four under park Got this little tidler for five under park

well today I laid it up uh just because the pins tucked on the bottom right just after a down slope So I tried to lay up as far down as possible so I see the whole green Um it’s a tricky layup I mean you just have to lay up to a number where you feel comfortable because it looks so narrow that pin position I think she clicks her fingers more than any other player on tour Shannon Tan just asking for the bill

Patricia Schmidt joining us on day three of this Amundi German Masters where over the back nine of this third round Shannon has certainly taken control of things Right now her lead is three shots [Music] [Music] So Shannon Tan with a good birdie look there at 15 Not to beat But now she makes her way to the 16th hole The 16th hole It’s a par five and it is a long one This bunker is the line off your tea Keep it to the right of that It’s a blind t-shot a dog leg from right to left And like I say three shots it’s going to take you to get to this green So you hit it over the water for your second but you have to bear in mind there’s some thick rough down the right hand side and another water hazard down the left That sits a 100 yard short of the green And for me that’s your maximum for the layup because you don’t want to get yourself into any of that rough or water because the third shot is equally as difficult It’s a green that wraps around the water It’s actually quite funky So there’s positioning off the T-OT off the second shot in order to get close to this pin in three to try and knock in a birdie pot Well that’s how it can be done Oh she’s gone where no other player from Singapore has in the women’s game Shannon Tan one under par for the 16th hole so far this week That’s going to do just fine Be just off the fairway No problem though It’s 11:00 in the evening back home in Singapore But um I’m sure Dad Dez is happy that Shannon’s up top and Esther Henselites a little further behind Although he’s also happy to know there’s a signed autograph on its way as well Wind from right to left here [Applause] [Music] Doing her a favor there Just pushing it back towards the semi- rough

Yeah Bream had started the bat nine Birdie Eagle to be alongside Shannon but she dropped a shot here at 13 whereas Shannon Tan did this tracking So we’ve seen a twoshot swing there on 13 and we saw the same on 14 Yeah bunker trouble for Brie Whereas Shannon Tan well this was a beautiful puck wasn’t it right in the middle Dead weight Six birdies on the card for the Singaporean Leading the way at 12 under [Applause] Isn’t she allergic to grass and alcohol and all

That’s a good effort as well Up there again She’s tied 21st She’s been leading or around the lead four or five weeks in a row now Hasn’t finished better than 19th And the uh plot line has followed suit so far this weekend in Germany Playing so well Just got to try and put it all together I think it’s good when you start writing down how you feel and feedback so you can learn from it because it’s not like the the actual golf dips off is it there’s something there maybe mentally you’re thinking well I’ve made the cut now what left edge put here for Houston and this would be some two Oh very good Stays in tied fifth spot on under par today She has been like the steady player If you look at her stats it’s all just very nice gaining a shot here on the drive in and then in to the approach shots All areas of her game working similar scores today

kind of as an unknown quantity coming through as the first player from Singapore to play on the LD One on her very first start and really blossomed since then first from Singapore to make cuts at a major and now looking to win for the second time on the le and she’s really given herself a platform here at Green Eagle Golf Courses to do just that equaling the best round of the day a 68 a threeshot lead over Hannah screen who’s looking for a breakthrough win and Helen Bream will not be in the final group will get that after her round of 71 but she will be out with another German So they’ll carry the crowd I think what’s impressive about Shannon Tan you know she’s obviously at the top of the leaderboard but only four bogeies in three days around this Green Eagle golf course And I said it was similar feeling to Centurion Club in just outside London And that’s where Hannah Green and Alice Houston are attached to [Music] Well it’s been a a brilliant performance from Shannon Tan She deserves all the applaud that she’s going to get but it’s only a Saturday 68 There is work still to be done to see this through And she’s had a few Sunday wobbles if you like in the last month or so Should be a very fascinating final day at the Amundi German Masters Hopefully you can join us tomorrow We’ll see you then Bye-bye [Music] Heat Heat [Music] Heat Heat [Music]
