hamburg in Germany the latest stop for the ladies European tour and on day one some managed to tame a course known as the green monster elenosudo amongst a quartet who shot five under rookie Amelia Garvey bringing her talents to the four 18 Germans in the field and leading the way for the home contingent was teenage sensation Kellen Bream after a quiet start to the year Alice Houston came to life in round one as she looks to add to her wins in South Africa and last year in Switzerland houston and Kelsey Bennett the early ones to go bogey free but a day to make your score with some 38 players breaking part for the fourth year in a row the ladies European tour is in Germany for the Amundi German Masters but a new event in terms of its venue and we always seem to get drama at this tournament familiar spot for those of you who are keen watchers of European golf we’re on the North Course at Green Eagles Resort just south of Hamburg a venue that has for the previous seven years hosted the men’s European tour now it’s the ED’s turn to tackle the green monster as it’s known a layout with water on almost every hole regarded as one of the hardest in Europe well who’s going to have the ups on the ferris wheel today conditions well they were on the whole kind on day one and that was reflected in the scoring today it’s been a a wet windy start but it’s warming up and the weather seems to be improving hopefully we’ve seen the last of the rain i’m Richard Kaufman alongside former L player Sophie Walker sophie who are you looking forward to watching today
well first of all this green monster I mean yesterday it was the easiest it could get and it played a shot and a half over its par but as in for the players Helen Bream she played last year in this event as an amateur the 19year-old long-hitting 19-year-old good to see where she’s at with her game at the moment and obviously Esther Henselite the local heroine silver medalist and Soulheim Cup player well play got underway at 7:40 this morning let’s check out who has been doing what not easy conditions for the morning wave carla Bernat though disproved that theory opening up with four straight birdies and she held it together nicely Sophie didn’t she for for the round of the morning well this player won the Augusta National Women’s Amateur converting that on the seventh moves to four under park yeah five birdies in the round not any of them longer than 12 ft and then some tidying up a par five on the ninth low round of the day so far for the 21-year-old from Spain
yeah 69 the only round in the 60s so far that has her at two under overall and here’s an idea of those conditions we’ve been talking about
yeah there was some swelles of rain that came through that’s Laura Funstuck on the eighth there went out in one over par she would birdie the eighth bogey the ninth two rounds of 72 at minus two fronty Law played some fabulous golf yesterday saw her in our coverage shooting 69 she was one over par for the day coming to the seventh which was her 16th of the day had this downhill from left to right to get back to that important level par unfortunately she would bogey her final hole three bogeies on the par fives for law 74 minus three for the championship dad dagger finished really well yesterday couple of birdies late on well how about a late birdie here what a putt this is at her final hole of the day dad loved it high fives back to level path for the day and four under overall sophie Kgard Neielson three under par yesterday this was her final hole the 18 she had a superb back nine she was two under par needed to get up and down for a round of 71 and did so minus five for the day a good backup some good work on Thursday and Friday for Sophie
so she’s the leader in the clubhouse at five under par but we know five under was leading overall overnight esther Henselite level par for her round through the first six holes pars but tidy stuff here at seven started at a two under good crowds following her so she’d convert that to get to one under patricia Schmidt the German using the putter from off the fringe and it worked there
well what a difference a day makes after eight holes yesterday she was four over par after eight holes today she’s four under par incredible stuff from the Belgian Open champion of 2023 she’s playing with Helen Bream who got off to a birdie birdie birdie start but has given all three of those shots back already so Bream as you can see tied fourth back to where she started today at five under par she’s in fifth place on the order of merit shannon Tan is sixth on the order of merit and Shannon has picked up a couple of birdies but you can see it’s Elellanena Sudo who’s leading 10 birdies already for the week for the Swede amelia Garvey and Alice Houston off to nice starts as well two birdies one drop shot from the pair of them good biog who’s thrown in a couple of 71 so she’s handily placed at the halfway stage we had Hannah screen with us in commentary yesterday she’s given one back so far today bogeied her first hole of the day and there is Carla Bernat the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion big three weeks coming up for her playing here then in Ireland next week before playing in the major championship at Evian keeping an eye on the cut line as well at the moment it sits at two over top 60 in tide always nice to see the crowds out let’s pop off to the par five ninth houston currently one under par for her day a middle flag here on the ninth suitable kick in there setting up a birdie chance she mentioned how important it is to hit the fairway off the tea on nine in order to get close to that pin
so here is the leader birdie birdie start couple of pass since then make that another I mean this is a player who has played on the LPGA tour but has been unable really to show any real form since she’s been on the le of what Esther Henselai’s got who is in form especially in the majors the top 20 last week at the women’s PGA she’ll fancy this one down the slope on a Well she’s a Hamburg girl she moved to the city when she was 5 years old was voted Hamburg Sports Woman of the Year for 2024 after her efforts at the Olympics and the Soulheim Cup and elsewhere as well scottish Open close to winning there tidy stuff she just needs a few more birdies just three birdies so far this week for Esther Henselite another look here outside left slammed it another week another week up there in contention for Shannon Tan who’s had a nice little putting tip from a certain Sophie Walker so if she was to win this week I hope you’re on the percentage i did notice a couple of weeks ago in Tenneref that she was stood too far away from the ball so her eyes were inside the line too much taking it back on the inside and failing to get it square so she was working on that with her coach last week put for a two on eight just did not turn on her i did have a quick look at her putting she’s gained 0.77 on the greens guess what she didn’t miss a fairway yesterday and shockingly she missed one green i mean her her her driving stats her greens and regulation stats are just extraordinary over 90% of fairways found this season hitting all fairways yesterday is not an irregular occurrence as far as Shannon Tan is concerned so if that putter does warm up after a tip or two beware lauren Walsh looking to get it under par here not a whole lot in this one right edge not been a good start to uh day two couple under yesterday couple of early bogeies so that was a much needed look but she could capitalize there lauren Walsh heading back to Carton House next week the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at her home golf course lauren yeah she missed the cup there last year the pressure of uh being at that home course and friends and family and all sorts turning up but she’s determined to put that right in next week’s event yeah bold wasn’t she with the first putt she’s paid the penalty well the first putt was too hard in pace it missed on that right side so she played what she thought was some right to left from nowhere really houston now falls two back with that goi on the ninth out in level part frustrating well it’s been the true up and down day so far for Helen Bream three straight birdies followed by a par and then three straight bogeies even she can’t get home at nine 569 yds it is down the wind but like you say not even Bream who’s averaging over 265 in driving distance this year on the Ladies European tour she has to be disciplined and lay up well it’s the 26-year-old Swede Eleanor Sudo who leads the way started the week 87th on the Order of Merit so could be a big week in more ways than one finding the birdies and finds herself one clear of Amelia Garvey well we say she never misses a fairway i’m sure she’ll live up to her billing here Shannon Tan although a look of concern well there you go
a rare miss down that left hand side the bunker starts at 233 finishes at 270 and she’s got issues now will she be able to carry the waist area for her second that is You just can’t go there there’s so much room to the right hand side here on nine
well there’s a good aerial to to show exactly that that’s a poor miss by her standards
i keep going back to what Houston said which is like if you miss the fairway off the tea here on nine then you can’t hit your fairway wood to lay up which means you’re going to have a seven iron into a par five this one turning from right to left well I’m not sure the applause landed in the bunker i don’t know if it came out or not
no I think it just scuttled up there stayed in that’s like why are they clapping it’s because it’s you Esther you get the ball in the air they’ll be clapping that one was sent okay question for you early on here so if you like posing these ones to you what do you think will be leading come the end of this second round do you want to pause and think about that for a minute or you happy to have a
a go at it
the way Patricia Schmidt’s going
she may be leading i mean she’s four today
five five still as it was at the end of day one
another one right at it from Schmidt and unfortunately she’s just tiptoed onto the wrong level five under okay it’s a bold shout but it could well be right depends on the weather I suppose slightly conservative isn’t it right bream yesterday mentioned she’d been working with her coach on her approach play and it showed she gained five and a half shots on the field she was by far the best yeah harold Royce has been here this week with her yeah they’re working well together by the looks of things it’s a good chance here yesterday for Birdie but settled for the 68 that left her amongst the quartet at the top and when she started birdie birdie birdie we thought here we go the handbrekes come on since
the players lounge there was murmurs it’s like in fact one player said “Are we playing for second?” That is her presence orang Lee at the moment four over par which means she is outside the cut line played well last week in uh the Czech Republic was amongst the uh players up there going into the last round she was in the penultimate three ball that’s nicely done from the Spaniard that’ll get her to plus three hopefully which will be just one shot outside the cut line i don’t think it will be by the end of the day
no I was about to say I mean it could be four over couldn’t it
yeah it’s definitely going to go to three 65 players and tide are at plus three at the moment so I think that’ll shift see that wind getting up you can hear that wind getting up problems for the leader big problems over at 15 one of the three par fives in the last four holes lost her ball off the tea so she’s hit another one remember she’s leading by uh well actually two shots amelia Garvey’s just dropped one at seven as well so maybe Sophie knew something 500 could be leading in a minute 140 yards to the front but that’s not the story there is water waiting for you anything short here it’s 152 yards pin but you got to be sensible here you got to play at least that number keep it left of it as well wind from left to right here that’s good well you can see Esther Henselite’s ball look at it up there just up against the lip that’s going to be interesting coming up first Shannon Tan it went all good now so easy to top that one because you think hold your height don’t fat it in the fairway bunker and you can top it that one’s pretty good it’s clean but it’s releasing down there pentelite’s in trouble though it’s just two big hits to get inside that 100 yards here
it’s a proper par five as a few of them are around here there’s six of them but normally you think par five or there’s a good birdie chance well only 50% 57% of the field hit this green in regulation yesterday on a par five that is Esther Henselite’s golf ball right up against the lip she’s got 287 yards to the front but to carry all that waist area is 110 yards i don’t even know if she can do that right ahead of her on this line is just waste area not water look at that just stab it out that’s a lucky the look says it all oops b
nothing more she could do to pay the penalty
see she has to actually stop doesn’t she and it hits the lip and pops out there’s no follow through there at all been a brilliant front nine for Patricia Schmidt she and Helen Brie know each other really well they come from the same golf club in Stutgar which even though it is in Germany is a long way from here pitching into 10 fusen controls well well she started the front n superbly this is a chance to end it on a high good pot did not come back we saw him miss one on here yesterday for Birdie but that was that was a good put just didn’t go in so Sophie how far in is it from here for Esther she’s chatting away with Dave Brooker a caddy as to what to do oh she can’t reach 253 from this an iron to to play for a position which is her favorite pitching distance the pin isn’t tucked it’s 189 from the right there’s a back stop that she can use beyond it so you’re just looking at putting this around that 80 yard leave a mid iron for position here for Henselite well it was an unlucky break but chance maybe to retrieve it with an up and down just the second time playing a professional event in Germany the Hanselite although she has played around this track a few times dropped a shot at seven but has hit a lovely T-shot here at eight as she did yesterday actually it was even closer no two today took a bobble on her didn’t it maybe always missing low she was thinking that gets me back on track there i’ll roll this one in just bubbling on the edge at the minute garvey she has to remind herself that she’s tied for second this course will test your patience our leaders in trouble this is a par put on 15 sudo from left to right so that’ll be her first drop shot of the day she’ll remain the leader we’ll be it now at 6 under can hear the wind can’t you whipping around Green Eagles we’re on the north course there is a second course being built right now the the south course which if uh Michael Blesh has his way will be a Rider Cup venue in years to come tan looking to cut this one in from left to right pin nine from the right 37 in depth it’s on the bottom tier but there’s a back stop beyond it at 25 yds she can use that so looking to stay up there maybe because it was a downwind second shot didn’t want to fall down that slope greens are slower they’re 10.7 today there were 11.3 yesterday on the stint meter and we’ve had some rain as well 103 left for Walsh sophie Esther Henselite we know how good she can be but would you say what’s coming up now is the strongest part of her game approach shots
usually yeah yesterday not like yesterday she was great off the tea and not very good at approach but that’s not normal for Henite i always think it you go back to where the players from like the Germans their efficiency just how they practice it’s so on the the number they never hit a practice shot in vain they’ve always measuring it and you think when you’re inside that 100 yards that’s where every yard counts and I think the fact with a second shot there you’ll see that maybe or third shot you can’t use that slope Bream there smashing a 3-wood down there on 10 didn’t use driver too many times yesterday did Bream it’s one of the players that might have been able to get it onto the front edge of 10 push that T- box forward it’s only 296 but there’s a couple of bunkers that guard the front edge remember this is her fourth shot here at this par five on the number mark Wedge could save the day here on nine yeah if you look at stats on the LPGA tour that she positive in all departments but it has been the approach play which
as usual it was normally good that’s why yesterday she just didn’t she shot two under and was disappointed she didn’t hit it close enough she normally has is really landing it on the number three under par for her last seven holes going with driver how close can Schmidt get to this green on 10 how far is it down to the the front then it’s 275 short of those pot bunkers that I was talking about oh that’s left
i think she’s avoided the long long grasp that’s down there looking to bounce back after the drop of nine alice Houston up on the green
uphill left to right successful nice bounce back there by Houston she goes to six under part tied for the lead well best score from the morning wave was Cara Bernat the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion with a round of four under but there’s been some good performances from the players out this afternoon four under for Patricia Schmidt through the first nine holes theresa Mleta’s five under for the day she’s only played seven holes walsh a couple over tough road this one right to left and it does try and come back at the end yeah you mentioned the green monster i think there could be some greeneyed monsters the likes of Bronty Law that went out late early that late early definitely got the worst of the weather not as bad as it could have been we was expecting 30 km hour gust of wind thunderstorms yesterday afternoon we didn’t get that but those morning waves today the likes of Kelsey Bennett great score of Levelp had to fight through the rain and there was a lot of rain out there it was quite cold at times as well
yeah Sophia Kib G Nielson was telling me it was raining pretty much on and off from the third hole they played through to the 11th so that’s a couple of hours of getting wet shannon Tan this for a share of the lead that was a good effort there wasn’t it hole in pace you think it would fall down from left to right there couple of steps in this green here on the ninth well with due respect to Shannon Tan and Lauren Walsh there’s only one player that these people here are coming to watch and are willing on important P this for Esther Henselite just the two birdies uh yesterday no drop shots today just the the one birdie today that came at seven as it stands she’s only three shots off the lead so tournament favorite at the start of the week and she’s close enough she started that straight it moved right on her well she’ll blame the T-shot down the left in the bunker but she had an opportunity to not drop a shot there to Henselite but did excellent front nine from Shannon Coup so that’s 33 it’s a 35 front nine 38 back nine this is a par five the ninth hole one of six par fives in the last 10 holes steady for Esther Henselite a bogey there on ninth cancels out her birdie on seven out in level part falls to two under and outside of the top 10 work to be done bream second to 10 controlled just slicing the legs from underneath that beautifully done stunning shot from Schmidt maybe got away with the T-shot a little but made the most of it oh Patricia Schmidt has that to get to five under par for the day and four under in total couple of mis cuts coming into this week although she has been playing some nice golf you can see Annis Houston with that birdie at 10 alongside Eleanor Sudo now at six under part and then a quartet at five under only Sophia Gibs Gore Nielson of the four have finished for the day after an excellent 71 sophie mentioned Kelsey Bennett Bronty Law there they are at the bottom of the page within three having finished at three under so that’s how it looks right now day two of this Amundi German Masters taken just inside the cut line right now three over having a much better day at the number one player from 2023 couple after around a 78 yesterday downwind off the right 465 yd par five second for Houston good leave there carbon copy of the put she had on nine left to right and this one well starting the back nine as she started the front nine she’ll be hoping she can follow the birdie at 10 with a another one at 11 that 11th par five very much in reach for Helen Breen nice to see a bit of sunshine greeting the players once again now when the men play here on the DP World Tour they actually hit short of this water and they have a longer second we’re playing it forward so T-shots hit over the water driver for Tam wind back into her face normal service resumed for Shannon Tan there with a fairway found water right here fescue it’s carried the water it’s like a horseshoe really of water that sits across the middle of the fairway down the right but it goes all the way down the left up until the green so that was maybe that ante left shot by Walsh you
mentioned Henselite’s major form not missed a cut in any of the last eight majors two top 10s this driver this was her forte yesterday the best in the field pencil back into the wind frozen rope there not to be but she is getting herself in the mix good to see some Germans in contention at this Mundy German Masters the defending champion by the way come to her in a moment houston a little heavyhanded there so not guaranteed the birdie here at 11 the defending champion we watched Lexi first yesterday shoot two under today two over but safely in for the weekend at level par which at the start of the week I think she would have taken given her back and toe issues so from one leader to another
down win second par five 16th that’s probably why it pitched firm on that back edge all the high spots on these greens we’ve seen it on nine now we’ve seen it on 16 today with it being downwind just get that firm bounce through would have seen it roll by this one from left to right to take the lead looking for a third ladies European tour win tied for the lead with Elenosudo time for a little snack for Esther Henelite healthy of course works with Reese Phillips both on and off the golf course just look at that lovely drop into the back of the ball there she really gets down and low
and then powers up through it an incredibly straight hitter of the golf ball but with that natural height that she has about 510 Esther Henselite she also has the effortless power round of the day being put together by Theresa Meetska the Czech player five under par for the day he’s just made par at 17 another look coming up nice to see a bit of blue sky up above thick grass you can see just the fairway by quite some way here laura Moch you can hear from the practice swings how thick it is down there it’s only a wedge and she’s got 25 yds of green to work with so fly the front right bunker it’s good result really is a birdie hole though 10 second easiest on the golf course because of that front tee 69 yds left for Henselite pin is in the the back here pretty similar to what it was yesterday maybe a couple of yards shorter playing to a crosswind so wants to take it the left edge of the front bunker from 69 yds throwing a dart there hence a light look she’s disappointed 6 ft right nice standards it’s how you get to number 21 in the world which is where she is ranked right now tan can play this differently she can flight it down like a mid-flight with a wedge skip it up there or take it all the way pitching back into some wind from this angle got caught in between two minds there this is a part of the course though isn’t it 10 and 11 where you you can make a mark make a move
it is and then 12 13 and 14 is where you hold position sudo dropped a shot at 15 look how she kept the pace up there with that chip shot she could hear the grass but she refused to have it stop the golf ball made her only bogey of the round here yesterday so got some making up to do with the ninth Amelia Garvey and that will help
part of the game that she’s been working hard on inside 100 yards so you were mentioning about all the par fives not many of them are reachable but this 11th hole is it plays under 500 yd as does the fourth so those are the two to try and get close tree Chinglab first to go fighting to make the cut here keep your head up front left bunker for the tie play well we know Garvey’s got a good look for birdie to come at nine shannon with an outside chance to get into what is a three-way tie now at the top these greens have slowed up because of the rain this one is up the hill she’ll need to rattle it home you just see the little heads on top of the grass there the pana grass it’s because of the area that that we’re in the meadow grass comes in and that’s what makes it a little bit thicker and slower in the afternoon half five 11 not much in for Helen Brie she’s a little off target there having to come from down that left side where she was blocked out
was blind wasn’t she so I don’t think the start line was in the right spot she hit a good one with a five iron but too far right looking for a first birdie of the day lauren Walsh not coming at 10 she could reach don’t be fooled by the iron here on 11 right stick down the left hand side in the sand that flag is 10 from the left should be okay to get that one up and down similar length P to the one she just missed on the last green for Parentite to get back to three under she was about to go and pick it out of the hole it’s in there the pace on that line that last foot it just edged to the left on a speaking to Dave Brooker new partnership this year how did that one miss theresa Metska for what will be the best back nine of the week if she can pop this in what a round of golf this is two overpar yesterday a round of 75 she’s now two shots off the lead
to put this into perspective the average is about 39 and a half shots for that back nine
gaining a player who is way outside the top 100 on the order of merit has lost her card the last couple of seasons but making a big charge there she is at the bottom of the page the check moves inside the top 10 with that extraordinary front nine at the moment we have got four players tied for the lead really cosmopolitan looking leaderboard player from Iceland India Denmark England Germany naturally and great to see the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion Sophie putting in a really good display today it is because the invites that you get from that are just wonderful with all the major championships but then also to play in some of these ladies European tour events you mentioned we’re going to see her for the next three weeks this could be the best year of her life well we saw Amelia Garvey’s name there in a share of the lead and that is how she got there
two shots better than yesterday at nine and she is back to six under par there’s no doubt her talent i was on the range earlier and Lisa Peterson’s mom went best swing on tour and Amelia said “Sorry.” She was like “You I saw it in Morocco you’ve got the best swing on tour.” And Lisa said “I agree that’s not bad just before you’re about to go and play is it?”
Not bad at all i I watched her tee off on the first and I think she was beaming with that confidence because she had that two iron in hand and hit a stinger with a little bit of draw which was perfectly shaped for that dog leg ended up making birdie well another missed fairway for Tan down that left hand side she’ll be blocked out from some rocks that come out in front so she’s going to have to hit over rock and trees there
he’s in range though
there’s a couple left though yeah radar is off oh look at those black clouds
oh dear talking of radars maybe you should check yours out to see if that’s going to hit us missed it right off the 10th no nonsense there by Walsh down 11 with her length she’ll be able to get there no issues such an aggressive player like the golf swing has got that but her mentality on the greens as well helen Bream four birdies already today you’d fancier to make another here threatening the eagle he wouldn’t be surprised if it was a German one two come the end of the week with Bream and Hens tonight very much an opportunity now after that drive for Henselite
you think in 2019 we first saw her there’s a bit more zip at the bottom of that swing now all depends on the lie here if it’s good she should get this one up and down these bunkers have flumxed many players safely aboard see that wind moving from left to right on 17 there
it’s Alice Houston I promise you back left pin for Houston take it right of it skip it towards it from the right hand side this one for a two and to take the lead she is making her fair share of birdies all smiles for Sudo back in front on her own again
puted lights out yesterday looks like she’s continuing that trend got a mom me on the bag there patricia Schmidt with a birdie puck now there’s been a slight change of score in for Patricia Schmidt in a good way she’s actually five under for the day she went out in 30 she actually hauled out with her second shot at the third so she’s had three birdies and an eagle which means this is to get into that group tied for fifth at five under see the seeds on the grass just pulling that one back towards her oh
I think 11 played the easiest hole on the golf course today somebody that hits it as long as she does she just had an iron in there well we’ll be talking about the uh Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion there are six amateurs in the field this is Shalop and that’s gone all the way back off the green so unlucky thought that was going to slam dunk had a brief to join pseudo at seven under so she misses out at 11 as well for her and Schmid that will feel like drop shots back back to back come on make up for it with this hit it she’s going well she’s one under par today two over so inside the cut line but hope she pops that in makes uh makes her par because it hadn’t hit the flag like that she’d have been having a good birdie look movement from right to left for Houston we’ve got somebody at seven under it’s Alice Houston there goes tied with Sudo now give response to the drop at nine 210 yards to the front edge of this green flag is on that front downwind from the right hand side totally blind second shot here this is a great angle got to hit it over those people over our cameraman get that one up and down that’s what Simon Cory will be saying a front miss isn’t too bad here just outside that 200 mark to the front edge here right to left wind for Walsh likes it skip up well early in the week that would have happened but we’ve had quite a lot of rain in the last 48 hours well nearly drove it on the green here at 10 amelia Garvey and that’s you can understand was pretty quick from back there another one will have a chance to get to seven under hence the light this is a real opportunity here for her starting it too far right pin high though loads of green to work with been a busy week came from the KPMG Women’s PGA where she finished top 20 then straight onto a a prime time chat show called DS where she sat on the sofa in between one or two different items talking about life as a pro in America winning the silver medal at the Olympics playing in the Soulheim Cup team you know it’s important for that to to kind of talk to the masses a female role model we’ve got the European football coming up this summer in Switzerland and in terms of golf we’ve had Langer we’ve had Martin Kimmer it’s nice to have a a German woman towards the top of the world with that pop off obviously win a major championship another of the Wildats Charlotte back goes to Arizona State about to start her third year there be great if she can get inside the cut line maybe give Carla Bernat around for her money as the the top amateur garvey for birdie at 10
yeah she’s a Trojan university of Southern California is where Garvey went to this is the similar length oh similar line sorry is the Henselite but not a whole lot in it right to left to start then we’ll come back at the end let’s read with a hypnotherapist back in Stockport where she’s based in England to build her confidence to try and control her mind to prove that you can trick yourself as well she said Lydia Co worked on it when she was a youngster her dad said “Why don’t you give it a go?” Yeah Lydia one of the people that Amelia has been able to very much talk about golf life with over the years also pretty good friends with another major champion in Patty Tabatan it’s not a bad three ball is it
no needs to take care of this one we’ve seen a few players hit it past the hole land it on the front edge then have it release gorgeous and that’s what she is isn’t she very tidy golfer boring golf she calls it sign me up boring golf you lots of money yeah she’s proved already finished top 10 in the rankings last season in fourth position and she’s right there in the top 10 once again currently sixth on the order of merit although a win for her or Helen Breen this week would take them up to third place on the order of merit the rankings won by Esther Henselite in 2019 in her rookie year pitching into more of an ups slope here and coming from an ups slope so there’ll be some more height on this penselite chip she can carry it further take it slightly left of the pin as well well frustration at nine and you’d say at 10 as well but it looks like the birdie is at least coming to him tonight life of sky
life of sky great to see him out here isn’t it hopefully the crowds will be up at the weekend as well so we’ve had two good shots let’s see what Walsh can do not quite but at least left herself the uphill putt there well the green monster as it’s known uh nickname coined by Alice Cooper of all people around this layout has shown that it can be tamed today theresa Mleta with a back nine of six under patricia Schmidt with a front nine of five under has to be said Sophie that the course has been set up to play a little shorter than it could be
because of the conditions you know you you have to look at what we was having coming in front of us and it was uh it was supposed to be awful yesterday so Jamie Cantalow the tournament director has to be given some credit for being so flexible in talking to the players and the caddies in the practice round hearing what they said and setting up the course accordingly it’s not like it’s easy out there you still have to hit good shots worsh testify to that and it’s only her first birdie of this second round gets her back under par and I think also with this golf course we think they’ve got wide fairways but when the wind is up there are so many holes where it’s a crosswind and then it switches for such a wide golf course players are describing that it can be tricky but compared to the practice rounds this is a lot easier a nice birdie there on 11 for Tan yeah this whole playing the easiest on the course and these three are all going to profit hopefully with birdie four shouldite knock this in so she is now three under again es the head salite right at the ferris wheel par five 18th layup from Sudo so narrow back into the wind as well you’ve got a good score you don’t want to be messing around with that water left seven years from 2017 to 2024 they played the European Open here ferris wheel was always there for that as it is for the first time hosting the ladies European tour where two have got to seven under now dictionager and the likes of Goodrin Borgvin Doier will be hoping they’re pretty close to the lead come the end of the day big move today from Patricia Schmidt although it’s been a couple of pass to start the back nine there’s Henselite now in a share of 10th place with the flying to Razer Malletka bring second on the 12th win from right to left 130 yd
she didn’t like it but it’s uh one hole high
there’s a step there she just missed the step so that one will be downhill Birdie Pop that’s the hens game with it another golf ball how often would a player change their golf balls then in
around here amateurs everywhere
no I mean as a professional well found the water let’s talk about Schmidt first he went into the reads right so had to take a drop i think it it if you look at the last few holes Henselite has hit wedges into the last three holes so she probably put new wedges in last week at a major that tends to happen so scuffing of the golf ball two or three times around so they’re spending what 15 or round on golf
i don’t think they’re spending
no okay because Shannon Tan if if she only changed her goal if she lost it she would play with the same ball most of the year yeah true they’ve reached 12 now
this played the hardest toll on the golf course yesterday 370 yds it’s a dog leg from left to right and you see what happens if you leak it right find the water water all the way down the right hand side and at the landing area that’s where it does nip in so Tan will be looking to hit a draw off a fairway bunker down the right hand side which kind of sits over Lauren Walsh’s Cadd’s shoulder that is more like it miss Fairways at 9 and 11 for Shannon Tan only had one bogey so far this week which is by far the fewest that’s an incredible start same play here for Walsh over that right bunker the carry to the fairways 225 and there you think well it’s all right it’s just on the fringe there but she knows that her second shot she has to come over a tree and a bunker which doesn’t affect the actual flight of the ball it’s just you can’t see the the bottom of the flag you can’t see the green henselite using the left hand side of the T- box to make the feel of this hole straighter so that second bunker on the right 225 carry that’ll be her line position Aster Henselite very much in the mix which uh well they tracked the crowds over the weekend three under path four behind the co-leaders Alice Houston and Eleanor Sudo and here is one of those co-leaders 68 yds 3/4 lob wedge right pin brilliant i mean we talk about the pressure she’s been struggling to make cuts this is a lovely kind of pressure isn’t it sitting at the top of the leaderboard this isn’t pressure at the minute
no just avoided the hazard here amelia Garvey at 11 you would think she would profit at a hole like this needs to go okay there’s some menacing clouds around very heavy rain at times this morning kind of showers on and off
it was miserable this morning cold as well at times down slope on the back of the 13th before that flag caught Houston out there mentioned Bream was on top of the step here on 12 so this one a downhill birdie try to join the leaders yeah she uh had a remarkable week at Pew School to get her car back did Eleanor Sudo the first round she shot 79 and was 146th on the leaderboard she came through and got her car back that shows the fighting spirit she had at the start of 2024 she was actually thinking about whether she might call it a day but she’s battling through struggling through I think would be a fairer thing to say but this to get to eight under back down the hill towards the water well she just can’t stop making birdies this week ellen Masudo with her fourth of this back nine to go with the eight she had yesterday terrific follow up to that opening round of 68 mom’s happy she’s happy well it was a lovely approach it got what it deserved as well Sophie and she is feeling very confident right now 68 yds just nicked it off the turf didn’t she got that action in eight under part for Sudo houston is seven under and will remain there displayed a superb short game so far this week shamantan doesn’t need her short game because she hits fairways and greens early wrist set there you can see how it’s slightly laid off at the top that’s why it looks more three quarters with her swing and look how low that right shoulder is through the ball and then high right shoulder at the end a player that’s maybe add five yards to her distances on all of her clubs this year she’s turned 21 started hitting the gym a very basic golf swing in in the most positive of ways going to face the same pup that Helen Bream had not too long ago like a normal yeah 35 yds in depth 28 on so he’s got seven over the back of it six yards from the left it’s in a a depression you’ve got about four yards to the right of this pin if you take it on there it’ll catch a slope and curl back into that flag green flag here for Henselike needs to be aggressive with this wedge well that’s what we’ve come to see wonderful from Henite i was going to say she seems so calm doesn’t she despite all the noise going she’s always calm even at the Soheim Cup when Reese who was cadding for at the time did his backing didn’t he just prior to the start and suddenly she had to have Davy Jones caddyy for her at the soul cup replacement but could be unnerving for for someone
imagine having to hit the first T-shot at Soul Cup the nerves anyway it’s your debut and then your caddy your boyfriend your coach He’s not on the bag i mean nerves of steel just inside 100 yards left for Tam Gap wedge i don’t think that was a story that was well documented enough i I think the fact that Davis did such a good job with her nobody really noticed other than the team around her settle she’ll have that to get to seven she’s an exciting prospect isn’t she Amelia Garvey
oh boy yeah i mean she’s got ball speeds of 160 mph with driver that is frightening you mentioned she carries a two iron we’re looking at a player that can hit a driver in the air more than 260 yards that’s Helen Brain numbers easily shannon making a way down and a chance here to make you aware of a new series on the LE channel the LE Players Lounge which takes you behind the scenes and in episode one Liz Yat Nora Commuline and Ursum reveal the challenges of being a mom as a professional golfer and how it spurs them on to success doing this job people say it’s hard playing professional golf so much easier than being a mom golf is not the most important thing anymore uh the biggest challenge for me is feeling the guilty all the time when I’m leaving him and especially when he was younger and he didn’t really understand it and he was crying when I left it it’s that’s not a nice feeling
emotionally it’s tough cuz obviously you’re missing her you’re missing out on things i’m yet to see a sports day
should I be more home am I doing some harm that I’m being so much away now she has started to understand more that I’m going just I just hate it you know there’s a lot I miss in her life but um moments like that hopefully will be there forever and it’ll be good for us all yeah definitely worth checking out part of the LE’s new players lounge series starting with the the moms on tour back to the second round action at this Amundi German Masters lauren Walsh i think we should shout out Eric Ellie and Isabelle there sure they’re looking out for their moms on tour and say congratulations to Annabelle Dimmick the Irish Open next week she won it over there at Carton House she is pregnant with a little girl and talking of news I think we should also say that it was announced earlier today that the Australian Open is going to be back on the Ladies European Tour schedule that’ll be at the start of 2026 we’ll head to Adelaide player that knows Australia well might live in Singapore but has played a lot of golf down there tan this is awkward trying to find the back of the ball with a steeper angle of attack just closed the face there this played the hardest to hole on the golf course yesterday so that’s okay well tap in birdie at 11 only a little more than a tap in here at 12 for Esther Head Salite what they want pentilite taps in after a brilliant red shot in there on the 12th hole moving up the leaderboard four and a part both her wins have come in Africa on the ladies European tour in Kenya it’s interesting you know 18 Germans in the field but none of them all of them feel like locals if you like for the likes of Helen Bream and Patricia Schmidt
they’re actually nearer events on the Ladies European tour outside of Germany whereas for Henselite it really is a a home game
staying in your own bed i mean we saw Miy Lee last week win over in Dallas he’s got to do that i’m just listening to that mom’s piece there and being home just it matters a lot it’s amazing how much better you sleep you’ll be talking maybe a hence a light about her jet lag from being over in in Texas she won’t have jet lag she’s in her own bed it’s about 600 kilometers to Patricia Schmidt’s home bite yeah it’s just I mean we saw this yesterday from her in a way i mean four bogeies first eight holes then she turned it around with great golf then bogeied the last two to the leader Sudo hit the turn after that brilliant back nine oh there’s some action on that one needs to be careful of this downs slope on 13 it’s also downwind that wedge game is working well for Helenbury a real threat she’s going to be well it’s a pleasant afternoon as as it stands little bit of sunshine over this Green Eagle Golf Resort and a nice move in the last 15 20 minutes from Esther Henselite who we caught up with early this week it’s great to be back i’ve I’ve not played in Germany for a couple years now so it’s great that I can be here this week and I’m really looking forward to it
a lot of interest in you this week and of course you’re on on television last night how are you finding all this interest in you obviously it’s a bit different to a regular tournament
yeah it’s fun it’s great to see the interest I got after the Olympics last year it’s great to see everyone out here even on the practice days and yeah I hope many people come watch us the next few days and yeah of course it’s a bit different a bit more media than what I’m used to but I’m just trying to enjoy this week do you do you feel like you are now sort of a trail blazer for women’s golf in Germany cuz there’s a big market here there’s great potential and you’ve almost become the face of it i mean do you embrace that
um yes i mean it’s fun it’s fun to be that person who can kind of inspire the younger generation to pick up golf it’s great to see the growing interest in the women’s tour as well on the le and the LPGA so yeah I’m I’m quite happy to be that person i hope I can help golf grow a bit in Germany and yeah I’m trying to live up to it well you certainly lived up to it this season your results on the LPJ have been really good i think there’s only one cut missed you’ve had second place finish you’ve done well in the majors as well so you know tell me about your form this year and what you feel is going right for you
um yeah it’s been really solid i feel like every part of my game is working pretty good uh still kind of waiting for everything to come together in one special week i hope that’s coming this week but it’s been very good i’m enjoying it out on the golf course there’s no doubt she is the star attraction talked about the way she played in those majors top 25 in all three majors so far in 2025 now facing this 13 dog leg as you can see there right to left and that is position A for Esther Henselite pushed the tea up here at 13 so playing under 350 yards gave that everything shannon quite up there with Esther but
in good position yep wind from right to left there’s a pine tree in the distance they can really cut this corner a front right tea box now all smiles as she should be beautiful birdies at 11 and 12 and in prime position at 13 the world number 21 moving inside the top 10 well it says uh Amelia Garvey there has had a par at 11 so she is a in that group a couple behind Ellen Sudo arian Klots another one having a fantastic day the player from the Pacific Island of New Calonia five under for the round so one or two really enjoying themselves out on the course meets still five under the day wedge to here p does not fall breams had some chances on 11 12 and 13 can’t convert them garvey found the water on the 11th which is why it was only a par five on the left hand side on 12 aggressive i was going to say I didn’t think she was going to miss that part sudo to get to nine under par what a performance this has been so far for the Swede three birdies in a row around the turn she has not been in this position over the last couple of years on the ladies European tour but she’s enjoying that rarified air through the back in two and bogs it now this is where she came unstuck yesterday she bog 13 14 15 and 17 it has been such an up and down week she’s got a cat a coach caddy for her there Jimmy he’s a sweet i’m sure he’ll be saying one or two things to her but what a performance Sophie from Ellen Sudo i mean the likes of Media Garvey here have got their work cut out given the way she’s playing right now i know it’s only day two playing a different golf course isn’t she there a couple of ports that have just come up short and right for Garvey a lovely T-shot from Shannon Tam this is Lauren Walsh lauren Walsh 92 yds into 13 is it on the down slope and that’s not going to be nice through the back there this downs slope on 13 we saw it yesterday and today just skids these greens are skidding a little bit on that first bounce but you can see that brow of the hill there just in front of Shannon so from 90 yards you see it’s 35 on here so you’ve only got about seven over the back on this angle really it’s 44 yards deep more to the right hand side but you’re looking for a 30 pitch and when you’ve got a wedge in your hand you want to go all the way so from 90 yards pitch this 85 with a gap wedge she went the whole lot well plenty to learn from from those two for Esa Hensel just touch looking through the scores there alphabetically keep an eye on one or two of your favorites dave Brooker was carrying for Ginyong co last year moved to Esther Henselit mentioned that big bounce playing for a 72 yd pitch with the lob wedge right about there
she’s dialed in now this believe it or not is the last of the par fours on this golf course par threes and fives only to come after this speaking of that I’d say this is a signature hole the 14th 150 yds water everywhere don’t be short brilliant from Breen she flirted with it but got the reward been entertaining hasn’t it the action this afternoon although I’m I’m not sure those that played this morning will be watching with Glee it’s one of those where I know you’ve got to say “Well I’ve got the wrong side of the draw.” And thankfully there’s another two rounds for those that made the cut but you see Rory Henderson Cali there he’s in the t-shirt supposed to be blowing 30 km an hour right now nine iron fish three very good T- shots there the other ball is the ball of Trichat Chinglab to 30 it’s wet at the back of this green it’s a low point this could come out dead on her favor the right hand side of the cup she’s got a loud clicking finger hasn’t she should be tidy enough for Shannon Tan yeah decent crowds especially for a Friday the the way Esta Henselite’s going and with Helen Bream up there as well i’m sure there’ll be even more coming over the weekend
well they know about Helai but they’ve maybe only heard about Bream so they want to come out and see her and why i mean Helen Bream is is the next generation of European golf she’s as tall as Michelle Wei but has it all she has the distance and the short game 15th third shot for Alice Houston it’s been a a quiet year golfwise for her i think because maybe it’s not been a quiet year off the course Sophie for her
she got married towards the end of last year to Steven and was looking to be based in America try and get her LPGA tour card it didn’t happen well Steven’s American so him and the cats they’ve got to look at moving back over to England so there’s just a lot of personal life that’s getting in the way of work but she’s mentioned how she is back to the day job now trying to take another step closer to the very top of the leaderboard here essa Henselite we’ll move to her right almost to what could have been back n here you think of the chances she she’s had after the drop shot at nine could easily have birded all the holes on this back nine been putting from very far at any of them got a couple well here’s Eden Sudo our leader and birthday girl 27 years old today not a bad way to celebrate how about two oh maybe I was being greedy yeah 27 on the uh on the 27th never like playing on my birthday it’s also Billy Joe’s actually Billy Joe Smith’s birthday it’s also hers today so we’ve got two on the ladies European tour billy Joe unfortunately not having a day quite like Eden Sudo looks like she’s going to miss the cut unfortunately good save got to stay patient i think Lauren Walsh you mentioned how few birdies she’s had that is unusual for the Irish woman plenty left on this one for Sudo and it’s a drop shot unfortunately so back to eight underpar with that three putt and apologies to my Swedish friends i’ve heard Ellen tell me how her name is pronounced it’s more Sudump than Sudo but if I start saying Sudom everyone’s going to look at me like I’m crazy and they don’t do that already
exactly don’t want to add to it
yeah yeah schmidt from the high side on 14 down the slope for a two such a brilliant front nine it’s just dried up now this is another terrific story this week leanne Pace 44 year old from South Africa wins in the double figures on the ladies European tour two under bottom maybe not much to report Sophie but tell us why it’s such a good week to be two under for Leanne
well she has no suitcase so she’s wearing Florentina Parker’s clothes she has no golf clubs so she’s renting a set she told me the driver was going left the fairway woods were going right but it was okay as she’s still in contention to win extraordinary Bream well she always looks I suppose like Henselite really calm and laidback but surely at the age of 19 playing in your national championship now within one of the lead you got to be feeling it
even though it’s only Friday
she’ll be enjoying it won’t she you mentioned the age and this is the event that I remember last year followed around in a practice round and we were saying oh have you heard of this Helen Bream and saw her hit this t-shot and I was like oh wow look at that it was like a rocket off the face and you know since then she’s won on the access series she’s won on the ladies European tour
and I know it’s only what day are we June 2025 Cup qualification started in October she is in those Two Soulheim Cup positions at the moment on the list anna Norquist Anna Norquist is going to be at the Irish Open next week
look at it look at that swing i mean who’s not going to want to play Forsomes or football with Helen Brim and I think you have to look back it’s a European Solan Cup which is a big difference saw how well Henselite a German managed it in America i do think if you’re not playing LPJ tour it’s hard but you do benefit if you are playing a European golf course
she might be playing LPJ tour next season
yeah she might do
she’s got two majors probably coming up now she’s already qualified for Evian looks like she’s in for Royal Fourth Cole as well she’s the number one player on the order of merit as far as qualification for the AIG Women’s Open is concerned five places up for grabs that period ends next week so looks like she will be joining hence tonight in the field
the Caterpillar green at its widest it’s only 15 yds wide minimum carry 148 maximum 160 to the back edge he was right at it holy prize here from Seb World Furniture Designer Furniture worth 50,000 euro up a hold of 15 par five dog leg from left to right water down the right the line is the bunker in the distance fizzle there by Schmear you have to be spot on here you’ve got 10 yards to land this golf ball in that is it another solid hit from another of the contenders here’s another Alice Houston
downhill left to right yeah this 14th hole is going to play downwind from the right hand side here go big nine or take something off an eighth oh not sure if that went in the bunker or into the rough get caught up whatever it’s going to be awkward oh no clubs no clothes but they’re still going in for Lean Pace what an extraordinary story this is comes off the back of a top 10 on the LPGA Tour she’s playing nicely but put a few obstacles in a way it doesn’t seem to matter
i said are you keeping the putter Leanne because she gained four on the field yesterday she said “The putter is the one thing that’s like mine but I have it in black this one’s in silver.” I mean just what a woman what a golfer no one else could do that other than pace
yeah just off the first page of a leaderboard arian Clots worth reminding putting together a really good day she’s inside the top 10 now best round from the players that went out yesterday afternoon and and finished this morning came uh from Sophia Kibs Gord Nielson in the house at five under five players from uh the players out there this afternoon ahead of her catch up again with Amelia Garvey three birdies two bogeies so far today from the Kiwi and that has left herself a lot of work for par impressed me today with these wedges this is just a layup here on 15 this is probably is a wedge
well it will be next she’s good discipline though hasn’t she she could easy go somewhere down that left hand side and try and get as close as possible
now this is a nice story christian Icebice who’s putting together a much better today struggled yesterday here she is at 18 she’s from the same club as Esther Henselike and she has got as much support out there another hamburger and putting together a really good nine holes there three under to the turn and has given herself a chance of making the cut excellent oh that is horrendous though for Lauren Walsh what does she do here Sophie apart from the the hokey koke
well she needs to be able to get some form of stance it she’s just going to have to hit it out he might catch a down slope and run closer to the green but I think that rust’s just so thick fried egg open the club face grip tight and swing as hard as possible but then you’ve got to keep your stamps cuz of that it’s just going to fall out the bunker this one if it gets out the more she presses down on that right foot to put the power in it the more she can slip that is the best she could do from there yeah terrific shot lovely about ice and bouse as well isn’t it you know yesterday she must have been I want to not sure heartbroken but you know the buildup to it all you know in front of all your friends and family to shoot that number and then come back today and now she’s got a chance of making the cut just down the left going for it in two there i think it it’s the occasion isn’t it that first round you know should have been out early wanting to do so well and it’s so easy to put yourself behind an eightball because of all the things that you’re thinking about and your golf game slips away and today she’s like “Right just back to golf let’s just try and put a decent score together.” And she’s put herself in position and we’ll see what she’s got on the back nine this is why amateurs do need to come and play in professional events to get those feels yeah it’s interesting in Germany they play like Bundesliga like in the football they have these leagues so if you belong to a club you play in in the Bundesliga and she’s in the same team as Esther Henselite henselite no longer plays for Falconstein but she did while she was on the ladies European tour
but that was when Henselite was off was it plus seven
that’s right yeah
she plays on scratch now check this one out for Shannon Tam the slope from left to right is heavy excellent effort solid three from a player remind you is only put one bogey on the card so far at the Simundi German Masters over the first two days non today through her 14 holes
it came at the 12th yesterday which was only her third hole of the day that was for par actually for Amelia Garvey saw a short of the green in two so that’s going to be a drop shot for the Kiwi so she’ll be back to five under par which is where she started the day
not so many robust you know what actually I’m thinking about where she was
yeah I’ve been looking at given her
hold on cuz that would have been a great pass i actually think that might have been her second shot we saw not her third shot cuz any 350 yds
and she had a 50 yard pitch it It could be yeah
we’ll get confirmation of that when we get it so it might not be a drop shot that for Garvey she’s going to do that to a few people isn’t she you’re going to say “Is that your second?” And she’s like “No no that’s how far I hit it off the tea.” Esther like every hole on this back ninth a golden chance for Birdie left to right it’s a big change coming from that major last week at Frisco how quick those greens were to come in here and like I say the rain that we’ve had and
they’re a bit slower probably about three on the stimp slower
well here’s the uh the leading German middle right pin on 15 over there
it’s discipline though isn’t it it’s like I’m not messing with that if I can spin it back then so be it and she’s worked it out hasn’t she struggled in Belgium she was leading at the halfway stage there and couldn’t control those wedges so she’s put in the hours and now she’s reaping the reward well somebody like that can generate too much spin on a wedge and then it becomes uncontrollable so what she’s learned to do is just take a bit of speed off it take some spin off it so when it lands it might spin a couple of feet but it is not coming back 20 25 feet it’s the stuff that you know Osme Mortals dream about doing but it hinders her here’s the leader Sudo off the back of a drop shot at two playing the course the other way round may well bounce back these Swedes they have midsummer don’t they
and then they just they have a lovely time a bit of time off at home sunshine and they come back just different he’s interesting Grant’s birthday around this time of year as well and she enjoys being home for midsummer and normally picks up a win or two around this time of year fourth shot now for Schmidt who’s just struggling on this back nine more problems here oh
she boged this hole yesterday as well through the back in two through the back in three theresa Mleta by the way remember she was six under par on her front nine has just gone bogey par bogey to start that front nine so she’s now back at two under green Monster biting back this 15th hole another one of those par fives into from the left off the T- box you want to take it the left edge of the far bunker that’s a 290 yard run out so much more fairway there than it looks will have a decision to make should be able to get there from there well some menacing clouds around but shadows right now on this tea he’s taking next week off shalon not heading back to Singapore she’s going to go over to Evian early spend the weekend there before the next major championship one of her favorite places on earth which is totally understandable yeah spent last week in uh in Belgium didn’t play the Czech Ladies Open either but spent the week in Belgium working with her coach who came over from the UK that’s with Ryan Lumsden whereas it’s Shaina Grady for Laurel Moch same coach as the owner Magguire s too well that’s a safe play down the left hand side got to get up well down two from here schmidt just limit the damage maybe knock it in that’s a good two up give her that one that’s nice for the birdie for Sudo oh that’s two in a row on the second and the third that has just snuck down the right hand side there for Sudo she could be double figures i can’t believe I was saying that this Green Eagle golf course
that’s not a Green Eagle though is it that’s a seagull isn’t it anyway I
was going to say we’re not Tony Johnson are we
just keep quiet that’s the third shot in on 16 alice Houston not a second that’s okay well Sudo didn’t get to nine under so Breen has this to join her at the top it’s got to be a misread she started that one down the right hand side well it’s been an entertaining afternoon at Green Eagle just south of Hamburg for this second round of the Amundi German Masters some terrific performances pseudo on her 27th birthday leading by one from the German teenager Helen Bream arian Clots five under par for the day the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Champion Carla Bernat showing what she can do in her first ladies European tour start outside of her homeland of Spain another German moving into the mix carolyn Calfman Kapalanda just outside the top 10 see a few German names there patricia Schmidt who we’ve seen is going to fall back unfortunately from her two under mark and Laura Funuk 72 today after finishing fourth last week at the Czech Ladies Open if it does get windy this is where it’s quite an exposed part of the golf course all of them within range but I don’t think they’ll all go for it see that there’s a lift there of the hand the hand should lift about 30 cm and then the drop quite a significant right knee bend there it does drop which I think causes the whip at the bottom of the swing but fact all three of these players have quite an active right knee through impact yeah not much difference in yardage left for Shannon Town and Lauren Walsh but looks like it’s the Singaporean who’s going to strike first 200 yds to the front edge with an iron she’ll be playing down the left hand side the slither of fairway leave herself a good pitching number in starts to narrow at 65 yds here on that 15 pole oh
got stuck up the hill amelia Garvey yeah good shot use the slope such a good pin that one cuz at the anti-water ball that’s where it ends up 200 yds front edge so that’s two laying up i think Pentelite had the woodwork out and coming from this semi- rough this first cut she can get into the back of the ball it’s almost on a slight tea for her you can see the wind moving from left to right so she will play this up the left hand side your minimum carry to get onto this green is 210 yards it must cover that oh she’s leaked it right the more right you go the more water you’ve got to come over it’s nowhere near from Henselot good looking part i don’t think she’s going to get that putter back looks good in the clothes as well those pink shorts are all right
she might be keeping it all vani Kapoor is ticking along very nicely make that very nicely indeed one of an ever growing Indian contingent on tour lovely front nine for her back nine of this golf course out in 35 power of 38 on that inward half a student of Nick Sto the England coach that seems to teach everybody with the flag stick the likes of Charlie Hull Megan McLaren Alice Houston so many of them like the Phil Kenyon of women’s putting coaches excellent up and down yeah and it was a par at 13 she did nearly drive the green there cousin Jamie on the bag now having a good old nibble in the uh the forest there’s a lot of these uh muskrats out on the course cross between a beaver and a rat pin that sits 25 yds on but because this green sits diagonally from bottom left to top right feels like it’s only five yards on coming from this left hand side use that slope see that number 12 there that’s the minimum carry got loads of room over it got 15 yards over it wonderful goal shot controlled there by Tan so I think we’ll give her that one that will take her alongside Helen Breen into second place at seven under 72 yds it’s a good angle there the more left you go the more green you’ve got to work with the 3/4 log wedge here for Walsh has created the angle now needs to use it nearly hold it and stuck it in reverse showboat in there well she’s got the driver out amelia Garvey said if it got windy she’d be using that two eye stinger but the wind’s blowing around a little what figures are we going to see here from her then yeah good shot so blas isn’t it good shot well done should be pulling an iron out for a second
well it’s a tough nearest the pin contest isn’t it is well like at nine forced to try and get up and down to save par didn’t hold the putt at nine hopefully she will there’s at that 15th hole lots of great stories around there big move from Marian Clots esther Hensite at the moment inside that top 10 amelia Garvey going along really nicely shannon Tan playing amongst the big crowds with Henelite still going well alisa one of the quartet tied for the lead overnight sudo though still on top there is Vanie Kapoor we just saw her hold out at 18 hannah Screen with a couple of birdies to start the back nine getting herself back to the mark of four under brontino coming through some of the uh the worst of the weather this morning with her round of 74 nice cut has just moved out to plus three 61 players and tied but remember there’s a few amateurs in there bernat and back so that’s two amateurs to take out
and maybe Imbouse might join them if she can pick up a couple more shots got a couple of uh well kind of gimme birdie putts to come but work here for headlight for par hasn’t really profited too much with the putter today left edge and firm here that’s annoying you’ve watched your two playing partners lay up from the same number as you then you whack it in the water make six and they’re going to tap theirs in for Birdie it’s a mistake that we don’t see too often from Henselite
and she’s one over on the par fives now there are a couple more to come starts the week 12th on the order of merit lauren Walsh as it stands she’s one of the five that will pick up one of the spots for the AIG Women’s Open from the Ladies European Tour Rankings shannon Tan already guaranteed her start call nice birdie from her as well so she gets to seven under alongside Helen Breen pace on the 17th hole 144 yds downwind hole cutting a bowl down the right hand side just missed that over at the par five fourth hole now for Elenosudo giving it a bash
it’s reachable left to right wind oh there’s water down the right that’s going to be wet mistake from the leader so Houston as it stands two back tiptoes onto the green playing with Avani Pant indian at one over he’s been working with Jay and Scott Howeth at Davenport Golf Club was getting a bit shut on the way back rolling those wrists and then had to find it on the way down now she’s squarer she can get that shaft more centered rather than dropping it underneath her and said there was just a couple of shots that she kind of was losing left and right which hasn’t been the case since she’s been back working in Stockport with those two
layup there for Nastasia Nadau who is currently a couple underpart been a good week for her though she got a a phone call on Monday from Frank Reu who’s the venerable gentleman who runs the Evian Championship and told her she will be a sponsors invite for the next major she’s from the Savvoir region she’s from Shambbury which is about an hour and a half away she’s only once been to Evian before for the Evian Championship that’s when she was
a little girl played the Evian Junior Masters 7 years ago
she was 13 at the time
you stay out that Champagne tent leave that one to Richard laying up well you’d have you’d have thought Amelia would have said to Jamie “Come on let me have a little go at this one.” He’s like “No it’s Friday afternoon i’m the boss.” Laid her up down the left hand side worked out all right for Shannon Tan leg from right to left this 16th hole the wind is down from the right as well we can use it nobody can get here in two though 574 yds it’s got that similar feel to the the ninth hole in the sense that there is a a hazard that crosses it this time it’s a ditch whereas it was a waste bunker on the ninth remember on that hole Henselite tweaked it to the left hand side the line here is over the bunker carried to the fairway over the bunker is 227 another wedge in hand for Helen Bream another one all over it you know the headlight’s got a lot of support out there but so too is Helen Bream did go in the water for Sudo at four so playing four now she’s giving herself a chance it’s been a roller coaster birthday for her but I hate under par got that to stay there par three 17 alice Houston turning on a from right to left all the way it’s uphill for the first half of the putt and then goes downhill right to left at the ended both the par threes on the front nine Alice Houston but pars on the ones on the back nine so let’s see if the tactics pay off for Amelia Garvey It’s a little bit of right hand in that the bottom wasn’t it let’s not leak that one to the right of the pin
well we didn’t see the chip shot from Lean Pace this to save par so how did she get the clubs she just listened begging and borrowing
no they’re rentals cuz they’re all the same they’re all the titless clubs but she handed me the iron and said “Feel how heavy this is.” So she normally has graphite irons so it’s heavy uh regular steel said they don’t go as far as mine good job i mean imagine having to come over water to these pins with clubs that you think well they don’t go as far as mine they’re also a little bit long for her and what an upright so he has to grip down on them
well the lead is in trouble so this really effectively is for Ellen Broom to definitely join the lead she’s missed some chances over the last 45 minutes she doesn’t hit the hole has she playing beautifully though
yeah it’s almost like she’s letting the green monster off and I don’t think I’d be saying that ever so this to stay in front of Bream Shannon Tan that is some save from Sudo that means something can hear that come on she’s just said to herself mom don’t forget to put the flag in spend your birthday with your mom out on the golf course leading the Amundi German Masters what’s not to like
27’s looking pretty good isn’t it for her well it was Darcy Harry’s 22nd birthday the weekend she won in Belgium shut over 300 yds to the front there this is a cracker of a bar five so you got to smash your driver then your three-wood probably still don’t have a wedge in a hand there look at Shannon Tan’s caddy there simon down the middle of the fairway i was seeing how much yardage that she’s added last to play dave Brooker on the bag for Esther Hen tonight it’s a new combination dave was on the bag for Jin Yang Co when she won both her majors and was world number one sometimes we can overplay the importance of a caddy but he’s an effective man to have on the bag
not this guy straight talking northerner
from leads isn’t he and that’s that was the next move wasn’t it for Henselite obviously she would love Ree Daddy for her but he’s got a bit of a bad back thankfully he’s back playing some golf at the moment so carrying that tour bag can’t have been ideal for him so he just now watches and coaches and she’s got one of the main men Dave Brooker shows what he rates as a golfer if he’s willing to move from Ginyongo to this player hybrid to lay up doesn’t want to hit it any more than 100 yards from the front edge cuz that brings in the water left stop not to be forgi i saw her up there in Tenneref she did manage a top 10 but fell away towards the end so just keep putting herself in position to those final few groups trying to get more comfortable out in that slot yeah she kind of back door top three in Belgium when she shot 66 on the last day but never really was threatening the win even though it was a terrific finish you go from your first top 10 on the le to then getting your second top 10 which is now a top five can’t all be like Shannon we can’t all win on our first event down in Kenya one for one she was smashed this 276 off the tea still can’t get there though lay up for Tan that is as far as you can go you see that water as that camera pulls away eats into the left hand side heads going to have the ball above her feet and has got to come across water she’s not got a good leave there remains a couple under a player who’s only 20 still in the do third season on tour and is keeps getting better got a couple of wins in the PIF Global Series the team side of things yet to get her first individual title one of the memorable moments of last year beating Georgia Hall in a playoff at Centurion they’ll be going there in a couple of weeks beginning of August back into the win this 144 yards there’s not much up there though these players certainly got the best side of the draw maybe one club that was an eight iron there for Bream pin 10 on five from the right hand side a green that sits from back to front playing 150 delightfully done members of the same golf club these two Should you like that 140 shot um I’m just with it being off the right i’m actually okay with you holding it up a touch as well
i think a 40 held off yeah
yeah and just on the north wind back into her face got nine yards over it pin 30 on nine from the back wants to be bold can take it high and right of the pin it slopes from back to front this green yeah you mentioned here the layup has left himself with an awkward start we’ll play a few of these at every angle when the ball’s above your feet you expect it to turn from right to left on you so what she’ll do is grip down on the shaft to try and make you more level to the slope and she’ll want to aim to the right which isn’t a bad thing here she’s got 130 yards to the flag but on the direct route she would need to carry at 120 to get over the water so she’s not she’s going to try and draw it around the water using this slope you can see that start line there flag on 30 paces and she’s not much of it there across if she was going to get back to that pinch she needed to hit nine iron and you could see Dave Brook is swapping the club out of the hand they were obviously playing for either a jumper
or just to leave it down there cuz if you turn that over and pitch back edge you could run through the back and pitch it on that back tier let’s see what Tan can do from the middle of the fairway she can get the check sets up a birdie lock got new shafts in those wedges something she changed last week working well up to 18 final hole of the day for Alice Houston back into the win this 18th hole so not reachable for Houston another birdie putt for Helen Bream go started the day so well birdied her first three holes but then gave them all back at the fifth sixth and seventh but has been two under for this back nine so far the uh visual that we’re so used to seeing at Green Eagle the Ferrisville behind the 18th green Schmidt for Birdie this one will be quicker from left to right it’s a common theme isn’t it this last hour players leaving it short rolling at 10.7 on the stimp but they’ve certainly grown over the day they’ve slowed up just on the uh wrong level here pseudo but it is a birdie putt go he’s catching there she is top of the leaderboard ahead of Adam Bream and Shannon Tan latan’s got a fairly short one coming up to try and get to 800 tan just showing if you hit the fairway on 16 how you can get after a pin hence a light down the left hand side and just didn’t want to come over all that water don’t blame her so she’s left herself this 50 foot put maybe breaking right to left it’s 3% on the aim point so it’s about a flag stick out to the right hand side hello certainly got the crowd support they were willing that one on back to the brilliant performance from Leanne Pace well what if the clubs turn up tonight and the clothes what’s she going to do
i don’t think anything bothers her anymore probably she will use them you know they’re your tools aren’t you and she will laugh at the fact that the last two days she actually said on the practice ground I think everyone should have a tournament where we’ve all got to play the same balls in the same clubs and see who wins it’s like well yeah I know why she’d make a lot of money just imagine this put coming in at 430 on that clock face for Walsh to get to 200 par
well it is 430 oh
somewhere 5:30 here in Germany
back over in Dublin it is
true playing with Leanne Pace here’s Alice Houston 78 yards playing 85 come on in shannon to move to the summit of the leaderboard here let’s go over it just a part it’s hole in pace though they’re having a chance look at the difference between that effort to a Helen Bream effort fairly long P she already has had a three putt on this front nine and I’m afraid there’s another oh there’s been a three putts now of that length missed all down the right hand side third bogey of this second round for Sudo which means we now have a threeway tie at the top of the leaderboard sudo alongside Shannon Tan and Helen Bream at one point she was nine under parseudo but it’s tightened up garvey in Houston just a stroke behind kipscot Nielson amongst the players that finished this morning with an excellent 71 so back to 18 where there’s a couple of good looks here for birdie switch to this putter during the Australian events needs hitting it’s a slow one outside to the right here for a four wiggle all over the place there on a bogey 368 on day one and that’s a decent followup from Alice Houston 72 today one under for her round and well in contention heading into the weekend best finish so far this year is 14th over at the Saudi Ladies International like you said a quiet start to the season make up for that this weekend here in Hamburg shannon Tan using the T- box you’re allowed at two club lengths past the T- box you’re obviously not allowed to go in front of it so she’s playing this at 146 yds and it’ll play 10 into the wind or maybe right to left more so 25 yds deep he’s playing just short of halfway but tucked on that right hand side flushed it just doesn’t seem to want to come back from that bank just needed hitting pity but that is some effort given the situation for the 44 year old South African 23 pro titles 11 on the ladies European tour she was in the mixing career she’s amongst the contenders again despite being here without closing clubs walsh has hit a good one into 70 shannon Tan’s long a bit walsh is pin high right barely a breath of wind now it should be into Mid iron here for Henselite stayed down on that one pin high yet again see how that divot starts after the golf ball a negative angle of descent to get the crunch into the back of the ball then takes the turf just a layup here at 18 for Helen Bream just a shot behind now amelia Garvey well Hannah Screen went out in two over par birded 10 and 11 she’s now level this is her third at the 15th par five that was exactly where she was aiming long left spin it down to the pin well there’s no doubt this Amundi German Masters has produced some great drama over the years first time at the Green Eagle Golf Resort the last three years we’ve been in Berlin at golf club Sedana Z and it’s been a wonderful watch how good is this get in the hole how is that not gone in she’s done it ladies European tour champion she’s the home heroine another win for Alexandra Lexi firsting this time in her hometown of Berlin yeah the last three years just outside of Berlin this time around we’re just south of Hamburg let’s hope for similar drama over the coming days maya Stark now US Women’s Open Champion Christina Napolea and Alexandra Alexi Fersilic the three previous winners of this Amundi German Masters some super finishes so tan from high of the hole here this one will come down this slope that she sits on top of might want to get away from her from left to right that’s what she’s set up for here oh hit it report everyone just lacking pace these greens slowing up in front of their very eyes well she told us yesterday how she’s been working really hard on her putting Hannah’s screen grab the left edge and she is now within two top 10 in her last three starts is in fact top 12 in her last four she’s trained it hung a third out to the right this one right to left that’s a better speed from downtown Hamburg i think that surprised her in a good way bream in a hurry beautifully done another birdie look coming up she’s now part of a four-way tie for the lead with that birdie from Garvey taking her into the seven under contingent lauren Walsh has just puted missed her putt there we got a different angle of that didn’t we through the uh view of one of the fans out there recording the action you want to run onto these greens don’t you and say “Hit it harder.” They know that they know they’re slow enough they just can’t quite make themselves and that’s what happens when the course changes in front of your eyes we’ve seen that these whole week strong winds dry greens firm greens have slowed up this one up the hill not much in it hit the back of the cup so she’s back inside the top 10 now and given Sudo’s troubles she’s within three of the lead even with a couple of sixes on the car today remember a fourway tie for the lead overnight we’ve got a four-way tie for the lead right now and the back nine problems continue for Patricia Schmidt well trouble off a T so she had to take a penalty drop that third shot was Waywood she’s chipped it out to here now playing five looking to escape with a six but Schmidt does not like this back nine made four bogeies on it yesterday she’s looking like making three on it this Friday afternoon been a good comeback today for Trichat Chinglab trying to fight to make the cut at the moment she’s inside at two over three under today which is good scoring well we’re speaking so positively about a game on Wednesday saying how she’d found a swing so then yesterday to shoot that high number she thought “Oh no I’m falling back into it.” But she’s stuck at that process and it’s a great score anything under par around this Green Eagle golf course no matter what the weather you know even on a perfect day with no wind under par is a magnificent score not a bad line that wheel 456 yds back into a little bit of wind but not much to speak of still please well a rare day where she actually has missed a couple of fairways shannon less not good here left is wet or you get stuck behind those pine trees a little bit down this Five heat oh she leaked one on 10 right it’s done the same there just gone through the pine tree i think she’ll be blocked out with a second there’s three pine trees that sit down that right hand side i think until like last push or there’s a 650 in the center up on the green chinlab to try and finish at one over par through the 36 holes good day though round of 70 eight shots better than her first round effort and she is in for the weekend tough hole negotiated there for Sudo always plays the most difficult hole when the men come here the sixth got that one and Helen Breen moves to the very top of the leaderboard on her own she led at the halfway stage couple of weeks ago in Belgium she’s going to be doing the same here in her homeland of Germany the teenage sensation looks ready to delight the crowds eight underpar round of 70 from Helen Bream that looked as bad as it could get as well didn’t it just needed to hit a few puts harder coming home and I thought on 18 I’m not making that mistake takes the fort and six birdies on the car bream right now the one to catch in Germany oh for a while she was threatened to be up there with Helen Bream but a poor back nine from Patricia Schmidt the Arizona State student back from H Highleberg doesn’t make her birdie at 16 very pretty city H highidleberg where back is from would have given oursel a breathing room there but the cut is plus three Yeah yeah the voice of Robbie Mure Caddy of Lauren Walsh is advised as a seven iron all looks to be sat okay it’s just which way do you choose to go with those trees should be able to carry it over them maybe favor the left hand side hit a high fade there is Reese Phillips spoken about him a lot today and said he’ll be walking around he shouldn’t be in hospitality five iron layup for Shannon
got to do what you got to do haven’t you really maybe just stop there on the way
yeah I’m sure it’s funny uh this one from Shannon laid up when Esther was uh close to winning the Black Desert Championship esther was asked you know how did it feel being in you know the final group in contention she goes “I was fine.” Bree though he was a bundle of nerves well you can’t do anything when you’re watching can you don’t know what’s going on that’s why some coach and some play lay up also for Esther Hensel so Lauren Walsh will be first to play out of this three ball to hit seven iron so she’s got the best part of 130 left whereas the other two are inside that 100 yard mark garby hit nine iron to here popular leave this front right portion leaves herself a right to left birdie pot doesn’t need to worry too much about the pace just send it a cup and a half outside to the right it’s a lovely setting and come Sunday with the crowds thronged around it be a great setting well we’ve been very lucky with the weather although those out this morning might not quite see it that way this is the best side of the draw late early lauren Walsh 128 yds right pin would have taken that result after the T-shot that wailed down the right hand side it’s been a grind hasn’t it but got a couple more days to sort this one out for Walsh and a screen going along nicely an awkward start to day two but she’s turned it around now at 16 hydraw acquired back pin oh that’s lovely got that to get to six under these two are so similar in their golf games Tan and Pence alike how far they’re hitting it i bet they get the same club into the par threes as well just got to make a decision on who’s going first 80 yards if there is any wind it’ll be coming into Shannon Tan’s face this green is narrow it’s quite wide from left to right it’s only 24 yds in depth that pin eight on four from the right hand side so it’s hanging off that right edge you’re pitching into an ups slope from 80 shannon Well Helen Brie provided the cheers for the home crowds at 18 to set the target at 8 under up and I would love to do something similar here and get a closer to her compatriate 78 y she’s never been far away for birdie on this back nine apart from you know the par fives she’s had a couple of sixes at nine and another one on this back nine her approach play has been a lot better today and the reason that she’s almost messed up those par fives is her second shots it’s not been the ones into the green
well you know you said it’s Biddy Joe Smith’s birthday today eleanor Sudo’s birthday today as we watch Sudo here play her second at seven and that is going to give herself a good look at birdie there’s another player in the field who I believe it’s her birthday i’ve just checked her Instagram account and she said woke up as another year older is a new name on the ladies European tour pearl Jin what a name that is as well sounds like you should be ordering a drink
a drink the tonic pearl Jin with tonic
she’s making her debut she’s won over pass safely inside the cut line an incredible story she was the youngest player at 12 years of age to qualify for the match play at the US amateur she’s been an entrepreneur
she’s had a all sorts of things going on in her career she she was a pageant for Miss California and she’s out on the course one over par on her birthday 29 today I believe
happy birthday Pearl she might be a singer as well too I for Garvey ow leaked it right
you do get that joke don’t you
i don’t know pearl Jam
pearl’s a singer there’s a song no okay
no i thought it might was above one or two i got the gin joke
yeah good too much spin this is slow two balls from right to left and hit it well it just seems to be a weekly occurrence right now shannon Tan Ladies European tour in contention one back as it stands from the leader Helen Bream seven under park really good days play a round of 69 around Green Eagle looking to convert though isn’t cheating won last year hasn’t won this year but has been close shannon sound gets herself back to where she started the day with that lovely birdie Laurel Walsh two under rewarding that I think for Walsh clearly hasn’t had it so far on Thursday and Friday in a featured group but has got it round a level par that sits you inside that top 30 so two under par today that gets her inside the top 25 wake Forest on a yardage book there well on the 17th she sent the ball in with authority it was uphill this one’s downhill but I still think you can give it a nudge there give this one a chance you can see her just reading the line with her eyes as she draws it back to the the ball for Birdie had a few of those on this back nine lip out for headlight misses out on a birdie birdie finish it’s a a second successive 71 four underart four behind compat Helenbury but good signs especially over that bat nine
that was better wasn’t it with her approach shots and those putts they’re hitting the hole she’s had a couple of them on the bat nine have just spun out the hole got to stay patient lovely scene overlooking 08 we’ll head back to the front nine of the golf course sudo trying to get herself back at the top she’s hit some interesting puts considering how many birdies she’s had it’s all or nothing isn’t it
well yesterday she’s had another five today well there’s a lot of potentially great stories out there helen Bream her first time playing in Germany as a professional teed it up in this event last year as an amateur finished just outside the top 10 already a winner on the ladies European tour she’s not been a pro a year yet but we know all about her talents and she has shown them here at Green Eagle over the last two days good enough to lead the way at 800 part amelia Garvey coming down the last we’ll be looking to match Bream with a birdie and get to eight under as well there’ll be some uh hitting in that final three ball tomorrow if Garvey gets there although that doesn’t look promising does it is she taking a drop here thing is we don’t know whether this is a penalty drop or a free drop down there for Amelia Garvey well if she’s only taken one club length it’s a free drop but you know
we didn’t see the beginning bit did we and with her strength she could get it out of there couldn’t she so you wouldn’t
you would think unless she was behind the tree there and we don’t like guessing but unfortunately we uh Well the two iron went down into the thick stuff down the right hand side so she had the ball in her hand was taking a drop we’re assuming it’s a free drop need confirmation of that one and it’s got that similar leave of what Lauren Walsh had where she’s going to have to try and dig it out try and hit a high left to right shape this is a lot thicker than where Walsh was this is going to have to be a wedge out of here desperately trying to hold that face over but he’s done well all three players in this three ball will be in for the weekend at to what’s been a very entertaining round from Eleanor Sudo plays down win This eighth hole looks to be lying okay well confirmation of how things stand right now it’s underpower the mark thanks to that round of 70 from Helen Breen can hear from the teenager she’s with Edgar Morse helen a round of 70 out there today how do you assess it
yeah I think it was a it was an awesome start um Patricia and me both were minus three after three holes um that was just incredible those first three holes and um yeah I struggled a bit uh after that and but I think I kept it well together uh during the back nine
yeah absolutely obviously those three early birdies and the three bogeies but the back nine you really did fight back well obviously you were bogey free and added those three birdies what was the difference do you think on the back nine it was just easy goal for you it seemed at times well it was it was just uh like it is usually um I think I hit every green on the on the back n um yeah th those three greens I didn’t hit the green i made bogey so um yeah I think that was just the key today and I think it was very solid
obviously I know you said you have tournaments closer to you where you live in Stokart but you are ne necessarily you are sorry playing at home home support it must be lovely with people cheering you on and also having a German in the group alongside you today yeah as I said it was so much fun playing with Patricia and uh I think the crowd was was was as well very amazing and um yeah therefore I’m really happy
and the weather played its part today you obviously had quite a nice uh side of the draw yesterday this afternoon the sun’s come out that’s also helping I guess you playing well here
yeah of course good weather always helps
good luck for the weekend
thank you a very happy Alan Bream and you can understand why so we understand it was a free drop the ball got moved during the search for it so that’s why she was allowed that not going to be easy through the back coming downhill there
remember she bogied her final hole yesterday when she was actually leading by one good luck and result just on the other side of the golf course doing her own thing isn’t she a lovely evening we’re in the north of Germany amelia Garvey who’s uh been playing a lot of golf she does have a base in Manchester but This is her fourth week in a row going to play next week in Ireland actually born here in Manchester much of her family still there two birdies two bogeies to this point when she came to the par five night
boed it hot boied it yesterday sorry birded it today she went out in one under par to minus six through 27 holes then a a run of pars and she missed some decent chances weren’t expecting this one necessarily to fall neither was she that took it to seven under par and into share of the lead at the time helen Bream now has got to eight under players played the last three years on the Epson Tour in the United States where she’s had a couple of runner-up finishes but struggled to get her LPGA tour card so thought it would be a good idea to change things up come to Europe and it’s it’s great to have her here came second in the women’s amateur to Emily Toy over at Royal County down and that was really what put her on the map went over to college in California looks settled out here in Europe now what an explosive kind of bunker shot here for Nadau yeah she’s becoming a very consistent player just waiting for that breakthrough runner up to Darcy Harry at the Huden Court Women’s Open which is her best finish on tour feel like she’s been out here a while it’s hard to believe she’s only 20 still okay so we’ve been playing these all week haven’t we all forwards face jamie’s a short game coach as well as her cousin so just give it a few instructions he’s keen for a not to get this back in the stance says just play it slightly forward so he’s using the loft he’s not driving down on it need a flat stick to help her out there need to keep an eye on that spinny one out to the right off the tea there the two iron got those hips spinning and the ball going to the right that’s what’s costing Garvey down this 18th hole it will frustrate her you know finishing yesterday with a bogey and looking like the same might happen today it’s not an occurrence so you want to keep happening keep mentioning the learning curve of what the positions that she’s putting herself in you don’t want that to be the norm she’s not lost a turn she’s never a good sign not many players have left themselves up here they’ve all spun it back below the cup but because she chipped out or you know lumped it out with that wedge it meant that her third shot was longer so then she didn’t hit it as close she didn’t get the spin where she’s where she is now on that slope that’s where the slope starts that would spin it back to the hole she missed that one and then left herself the chip which flubbed out of that lie the wet sticky lies around these greens they actually cut the grass almost against you so he’s got this to stay save part like yesterday it’s going to be a six to finish the day one of the quartet who were leading overnight a birdie she would have joined Helen and Bream at the top but as it is a bogey takes her back into a share of fourth place and around 72 finish is going to sting but 36 holes left one back what did Harry say to Rory we’d have taken that at the beginning of the week it’s all right me saying it now i probably wouldn’t say it to her face right now give
10 minutes it’s been a a good week for Nastasia Nadau finding out she is going to be playing on home saw at the Evian Championship one of the four special invitations for that championship is to avoid a drop shot himself at the last exit and up and down it’s a good round two under par 71 three under par from the ninth hole gets her in a tie for 15th at the moment and it had been a good round for Avani Brashant but she’s just double bogeied 17 so this to get back to level par that’s a really frustrating five finish for the Indian teenager so she’s won over park comfortably in for the weekend cut line is at three over pile looks like that’s where it will stick she’s annoyed as is Garvey well
it’s been an entertaining day hasn’t it Sophie and you know Esther Henselites right there Helen Bream at the top of the leaderboard we had a German winner last year in Lexi Ferling you’d think right now there’s every chance we might see another
and I’m happy to say that I was wrong i thought 500p would be leading at the end of today but Tan and Bream both bogey free on the back nine tan bogey free today and has only made one all week that is crazy golf around this golf course but you positions I think you look at now you think Henselite that there was room for improvement there wasn’t there yeah she’s at 4 under par and a word for Theresa Mleta because she has shot the round of the week so far even with a couple of bogeies coming in she picked up a couple of twos as well a 67 that is some round around here well we were talking level par at the beginning of the week could win it that was when the wind was up we haven’t quite had that yet we’ll wait and see what the weekend brings us well Sudo’s still got the par five ninth to complete she may yet catch Ellen Bream you can check that out at ladiesuropeanour.com but what we can tell you for certain is that we should be in for a wonderful weekend in Hamburg at this Mundi German Masters we hope you can join us we’ll see you then
