The new Cobra DS-Adapt X fairway woods pack explosive ball speeds in a forgiving design that can be played by any type of golfer. This includes some of the best golfers in the world, such as Gary Woodland, who have put the Cobra DS-Adapt X fairway wood in the bag. Woodland has one of the fastest swing speeds on tour, so how does the Cobra golf team build his Cobra DS-Adapt X 3-wood?

In this video, Cobra Tour Technician James Posey walks us through the process of building a Cobra DS-Adapt X 3-wood for Gary Woodland to test.

we’re going to be doing a DS Adapt X build for Gary Woodland this week so first I’ll uh his tipping is an inch and a half on 3wood so I come over here mark off an inch and a half and go ahead and take that off and then we have to prep the tip so I’ll take some paint off the shaft so it’ll hold glue [Music] next will be glue that’ll happen pretty quickly here i’ll mix in some uh sand beads to keep the shaft centered in the hoszle load up some glue here all the way so line that up and uh set it off the side to dry and set up before we cut to length we go sweet cool
easy easy now that the the weight is or the glue is set up we’re going to cut this puppy to length what’s the What’s the length you’re cutting to here
Gary’s 3-wood length is 42 1/2 in which is about a/ inch shorter than our standard
okay
interesting what’s that [Music] and Gary uses a BCT midsize i’ll go ahead and slide that on there we go and uh so he so he’s going from that that club to this right
potentially yeah we’re doing it as a test
doing as a test okay
but yeah he was in dark speed before so we’re going to try to see if DS adapt will fit what he’s looking for this one is No I don’t even have the 204 so I’m targeting on this old build sheet you can see our glue settings so I’m going to try to match our hot melt with these locations so these these weights in there are specific to it’s is it more of a feel thing for gear is it more of a ball flight thing
ball flight and feel we obviously want the head weight to be right where he’s comfortable swinging um and some of these locations help move the center of gravity through the head put five g to And you can kind of feel where it settles oh yeah for sure yeah what percentage of players are you doing a build where hot melt is in the equation 99% of it at least obviously in war and sometimes it’s for CG change or sometimes it’s for purely acoustic
like if you put it in certain parts of the head the club sounds different
oh I see just double check to see where we’re at right now that’s 15 g so far then you’re putting the head back on to again measure swing weight
to measure swing weight correct so that’s D4 he’s looking for D5 so my final one will be adding about two grams right back here and then I’ll mark down everywhere where I’ve put it for a total head weight of 220.2 two and which achieves a D5 swing weight and
is there any time that that the hot mouth has to sit in there or is that is that
It cools off pretty quickly probably the next five or 6 minutes it’ll cool enough to stay in place that’s more than the average hot melt so you can tell the whole head’s pretty warm now
oh yeah yep that’s That’s good [Music] there we go threewood build for Gary Woodland there it is
