Golf Expedition Colorado: Arrowhead Golf Club

good morning and welcome to michael welcoming golf first off i’d like to say thank you to everyone for watching and subscribing this is the first video i’m making after hitting 100 subscribers so thank you so much if you haven’t subscribed yet hit that subscribe button and bell notification and give this video a thumbs up so enough of that um it is about time i think to get out of town on another golf expedition but this time the car won’t get us there so i am off to the airport here we go [Music] arrowhead golf club is located in roxboro state park in littleton colorado it was designed by robert trent jones jr and opened in 1972. the course weaves its way around sandstone formations that are 300 million years old it plays about 6 600 yards from the tips and although it’s on the shorter side it is nothing to scoff at the elevation changes in fast greens will catch you off guard and for me add in the fact that it’s at 5300 feet of elevation and i have to take into account that the ball is going to fly 10 to 15 farther than it does at sea level arrowhead golf club is about 30 minutes from downtown denver it is absolutely worth playing if you’re in the area good morning today i am in littleton colorado at arrowhead golf course spectacular views it’s known for its scenery and its rocks we’ll give you a little preview here the course is laid out in and around these rocks so it’s it’s really something special so playing with my dad today and we’ll see what we can do here we go hole number one arrowhead is a long par for hitting from an elevated tee box down to a generous fairway your approach is into a green that has turned it about 45 degrees to the fairway and slightly tucked behind a lake get over get over i got over it sat down but pulled the crap out of that you number two is a straightaway par 5 again with an elevated tee box down to the fairway and then your next two shots are working way back up the hill to a green that is protected on three sides by bunkers [Music] there you go beauty you do that with the first ball it’s feeling ambitious here but that grass was thick and i hit the ball maybe 20 feet a little too thick i’ll try again keep rolling [Music] lots of elevation change here at arrowhead number three is a long par three uh you’re heading down to a green that’s turned sideways to the tee box or the false front sloped back to front and bunkers on either side there you go number four is a great hole par four downhill to the fairway then you hit over the road over a lake to a green that slopes back to front and this is actually the first ball that bounced off the rock and back into the fairway thankfully after you’re making noise didn’t help this next shot though i work too bad for like six or something hole number five is a shorter par four heading back across the road uh fairway works slightly uphill to a green tucked around behind that rock on the right short see that’s what happens when it’s sitting up like number six is another uphill par four a little i don’t know dog leg left working a little bit left uh trees and cart path up along the right side and that’s what i found the green i don’t know if it went through though seven is another short par four slightly downhill fairway actually ends at about 2 50. um i hit mine through the fairway and into the rough between the fairway and the lake unexpected yep not a good shot out of this rough but if you notice there is a guy diving for golf balls in the lake he had three huge bags full number eight is a par four straight up the hill you can see that huge bunker it looks like it’s in the fairway that actually is fronting the green with bunkers on either side the only safe mist into this green go go go go go go short way short that’s so fat uh hole number nine is a great downhill par three uh lake along the right side and views for days [Music] good t-box [Music] [Music] number ten downhill par four probably the signature hole of the course every picture you’ll see of this course is of this hole [Music] a little operator error on this hole press the record button thinking it was recording but that was actually turning it off so no approach and no putts number 11 a short tough par three especially if you go in that deep bunker on the left bunker i proceeded to find out there was no loose sand in the bunker and thin my shot of the green there i go number 12 is an uphill dog leg left par four curling around these rocks on the left i’m hitting my next shot from here not because my ball landed here but because my ball disappeared somewhere in the vicinity i can’t tell if i got up there not that close [Music] do [Music] hole number 13 is an amazing par three downhill you hit through this shoot of rocks down to a green that is backed by a lake which i have hit into multiple times yeah wow that was short in the bucket wasn’t it 14 is a short par 4. back over the lake to a slightly elevated green it actually took us about five minutes to find this tee box it was tucked back in the rocks on an unmarked car path oh that’s short oh barely i’ll take it i’ll take it so 15 is a slightly uphill par 4 that dog legs about 90 degrees around these rocks around the rock 2 iron was obviously not the right club because i left myself a ridiculously long approach into the screen get out there it’s short oh that’s way too much [Music] [Music] 16 is a long par five blind tee shot up over that crest and then slightly downhill approach into a well protected green there you go oh my god i hit a golf shot don’t go in that bunker that’s my punishment for hitting a good shot oh no stay right oh i chunked it go go go go go go okay i’ll take it yeah i’ll take whatever help i can get that was a whole lot of grass not much ball [Music] highlight of the day birdie with two holes to play we’ll get this thing turned around and then we got to 17. long downhill par 3 uh lake on the front side of the green and bunker behind first one in the lake and pulled the second one but it didn’t go in the lake wow [Music] let me hit another one real quick in case that’s gone guys let’s step up and hit [Music] try and keep it in the reservation here i’ll pull it left well yeah unless i hit it under a tree oh [Music] oh yeah kind of got away with it there the shot tracer will be a bullet line your shoulders you spun out on its shoulders there you go go go go go go not far enough the pitch came out pretty cleanly but the chip did not uh i could not get this grass i couldn’t figure out what it was and why it felt so sticky um one of the starters said that it was kentucky bluegrass that’s not a grass we have in california that i know of so it just tended to grab the club and made it nearly impossible to chip not that my short game is great anyway but this made it worse [Music] so hole number 18. another par 5 to finish your round slightly uphill to start stay right of that rock there is a lake at about 350 yards from these back tees this is the murphy brothers who joined us today cory and alex i decided to give them a little shot tracer love on the 18th hole well they’re staying clear of the lake and then there’s being so far right you’re in the rough the entire hole back in the rough nice maybe i get another chunk and close get up there all right take it [Music] [Music] well at least i got to finish with a par after that debacle on 17. that is it from arrowhead if you like this video hit that thumbs up and click subscribe and that bell notification the golf wasn’t great today but the scenery was so you can see it behind me so you know it’s a beautiful place to come play golf and even if i play like crap i’m going to come back and play it again because it’s a lot of fun so it’s time to head home and plan that next golf expedition see you then you

  1. My suggestion: edit out your playing partners shots. Unless you give us a reason to be invested in them, they're just uninteresting filler, and nobody likes filler. Especially the 200 putts.
Spectacular course, amazing views (though it can be pretty windy at times). And yeah, the Kentucky Blue Grass can be a bitch. Some courses let it grow out a bit here, and it's like hitting your irons out of peanut butter.
