His caddie was threatening to leave him so maybe that sweetened the pot!

Never really understood why pros/caddies don’t use stand bags (I’m sure they could be made just as large as the bags they carry now). Seems like it would benefit everyone with precisely zero downsides
Ryboe999
Dude is so cool, he probably thought of his caddy and said “if I can get everything I need in this walking bag, why the hell would I not?” Even if it’s just a practice round thing, too cool!
He’s the dude, just wish he’d have a better career because personality wise, he deserves it!
theJMAN1016
I believe he is using the new Sun Mountain baseball glove bag that only comes in a stand version.
bullheel626
Sun mountain sponsorship I believe
Shamrocksf23
That’s why he’s awesome
Lost-Plankton-4741
That’s Ben Crane on the bag, probably why!

I caddy some on the LPGA Tour. Players are required staff bags during their tournaments a majority of the time. They do get to choose a (3?) tournaments where their caddies can utilize a stand bag.
Ad/marketing money is an important factor, and players also want space for rain gear, jackets, and other items on the course.

People in the know, what do they even put in the bag to need those huge oversized bags?
omninosis
I always assumed they were bigger and that they carried more stuff. Some times I’ve seen Tiger put on a clean dry shirt in the middle of a round. I’m sure they’re lugging around water and food for both of them as well. They should get a push cart though.

Also some of the smaller guys in the field do use carry bags, not everyone has staff bags with a ton of sponsors on the.
KandS_09
Hoping to get assigned this guy once when I score for the 3M open in July. So excited for it!

I’ve never understood why more guys don’t use these, you can still put logos on there too advertise and if there’s no threat of bad weather or anything you won’t have to carry all the weather gear
dockows412
Presumably they can look at the weather and see they only need, 1 pair of shoes, no rain gear, and a few extra gloves and balls. All things that fit in a stand bag
Very common practice for golfers who don’t get tons of camera time. If they are in contention on Sunday he’ll have a staff bag with his sponsors splashed all over it
sherpa143
That looks like the baseball bag!! That thing is fucking sick.
Robespierre77
Probably cuz it’s scorching outside.

Can I ask an honestly stupid question that I can probably get the answer by googling?
Why can’t caddies use push carts? It doesn’t seem to me that it gives the player any sort of an advantage?
birdie_Sea
Use a push cart coward!
PolskaWonder
Pretty sure him/his caddie are sponsored by SunMountain bags too
Adventurous-Dingo192
Normalize this
parkerreal
It’s because Ben Crane is on his bag this weekend, 5-time tour winner.
Spiritual-Tadpole342
That’s awesome. He had the same bag at the colonial.
destricsgo
Why don’t pros use walking bags, or modified larger walking bags? Am I dumb? Is it a tradition thing? Ad space on the bag?

As someone who’s caddied in a number of pro events at various levels… I appreciate tf out of this lol

Some used carry bags at the BMW last year with the altitude and hills
SgtMac2141

A lot more players are using stand bags
Looking like a smaller Shane Gillis out there.
