Alright Reddit golfers, twitter has been arguing all day about this. I’m curious what everyone hear thinks, and if it matches the sentiment in the twitter comments. Are untucked shirts on the golf course a problem? Where do you draw the line when it comes to clothing etiquette on the course?

I prefer tucking in my shirt when I’m playing golf because most golf polos are long on me and look better tucked in. I don’t care what other people do though
What or how someone dresses has yet to have any impact on me. Until it does i couldn’t give a fuck how they are dressed.
I tuck at nice courses or when wearing pants. Untucked with pants looks and feels bizarre.
I’m not tucking in at the local dog track. Maybe if I was a scratch golfer
Im a fat fuck at the minute so prefer mine out…
I don’t think it’s an issue to have your shirt untucked. Especially at a public muni, I understand if it’s a country club and there is a strict dress code. But all in all I think that tradition of having your shirt tucked in has started trending on the lax side of the traditions and shouldn’t affect other people. It’s not like everyone is on the tour.. why would someone get mad if another person just wants to be comfortable
This is a driving range…
I don’t tuck my shirts in. XL’s don’t go down far enough and XXL shirts drown me. It’s what I get for having broad shoulders and a short torso.
I’m fine with people golfing in basically whatever they choose, just don’t show up in an or band t shirt with the sleeves cut off and homemade jean shorts. There’s a line in the sand lol.
I tuck it in because it gets in the way when putting.

Absolutely blows my mind that so many people give a shit about what’s going on around them at the course. I don’t even know if anyone else on course exists when I’m golfing. Why can’t people just go out, play their round, and go home?
When did people stop wearing suits on planes and shining their shoes every Saturday night?
Standards shift over time. I agree with wearing golf clothes (collared shirt, golf pants or shorts, golf shoes) on the golf course. I think the idea that untucked shirts = sloppiness is outdated.
Go anywhere in town and observe how many shirts are tucked in. People used to tuck in their shirt all the time unless they were getting undressed, but that ended a long time ago. We need to have proper decorum on the golf course, not live in a time capsule.

Who cares.
Public track in heat, untucked. Private course regardless of weather? Tucked
It depends on where you are. If you get invited to a club with real history and rules tuck it in. If there’s no dress code you do you. Just be nice to your fellow human. I tuck my shirt in bc if it don’t, sometimes my putter grip drags on my shirt and I don’t like that.
I don’t give a shit what anybody wears at any normal golf course. Go bare foot in Jean shorts, it has no impact on me. If I pay to be a member of a private club which sells itself on being an upscale respected place, I would expect anybody there to follow the rules of the facility. If that’s tucked in, that means tuck in.
It’s not about how the other people look impacting me, it’s about respecting the club and the experience all members are paying to be a part of.
For reference, I’m a younger guy who doesn’t have nearly enough money to be a part of a club lol
Dress code doesn’t bother me. Once someone has respect for other players on the course, keeps pace of play, doesn’t blare music, then they’re cool with me.
Not in the slightest
I’m no CC member but hitting off mats?! One would think the CC would have a grass range?!
I was at my friend’s private club a few years ago. I was dressed appropriately with dress shorts and a golf shirt.
It was a hot day and part of my shirt came untucked at the back.
A miserable old woman comes up beside me at the halfway house and says, “I remember when gentlemen tucked their shirts in at the golf course.”
I turned my head and told her, “I remember when women weren’t allowed to play at this golf course.”
Some people just look for reasons to be annoying.
I like looking the part when I golf. Don’t care at the driving range.
Not a problem and I’m 69 and typically tucked. Some of my playing partners are untucked. For old guys it’s about the belly.
To be fair those two look like absolute chads
Unless their balls are hanging out of their cargos I really don’t give a shit what people wear at the course
I can go either way but I tuck or untuck based on how nice the course is. Post says “country club”. Im assuming its private so I’d definitely be tucked.
Grass range tuck. Mat range no tuck. /s
If the private club has rules, follow the rules. You play there knowingly, and should comply.
If it’s a public or county course, you could play shirtless for all I care.
While the course I’m a member at suggests you wear certain attire and how it should look. No one, I mean NO ONE says a word about it. I wear a polo most times shorts because it’s hotter than hell in Florida. As long as you are not being a drunk asshole or belligerent to others no one really cares about what you are wearing while playing.
IDGAF what people wear as long as they get around the course in under 4 hours.
i have golfing crocs and you’ll have to rip them from my cold dead 39hcp body before i give them up
I peer out of my ivory tower at the untucked crowd
Untuck or tuck, it doesn’t matter. That said, some clubs do not allow untuck. If that is the rule, you follow the rule of the club.
When the boomer generation moves on. Some of these old school rules will fade, as they seem to be the ones keeping these etiquette dress rules alive. Younger generations don’t subscribe to this stuff and if a club wants to survive it will have to adapt.
Most public courses don’t care.
I’ve always tucked. Makes me feel fresher. I feel fresher I play better.
Never tucked unless there is a rule against untucked shirts.
I don’t like mine untucked at any time. Clubs have their own dress codes but I think they should all be tucked in. They call golf a gentleman’s game so I say look like one. But I respect others choices.
I have a lot of shirts from Untuckit that I like to wear because they’re cut properly to be worn untucked. I only tuck a shirt in for church, funerals, weddings, or court.
I get both ways. For most people, polos are long and tucked in and look nice. Then you have tall, big guys like me where tucking it in does not look good in any setting. While it would suck, if a course demanded tucked in shirts on the course, then I’d just play another course, no biggie.
Just trust me big dudes with tucked in polos? You don’t want that man. The moment we swing, that polo is getting untucked anyway.
Dress code at the range ? Muahahahah
Clearly you have a lot of free time in your life if you care or even notice this 🤣
I only care about attire if they’re fucking around at my home range. You can be naked and practicing, don’t care. But if you’re treating it like a topgolf with your other premature buddies, I’ll trash their attire and etiquette
and shrink the game. never been almost hit as many times as I have the past few months
It’s an old man’s game. I tuck. But I don’t care if the dude in front of me is wearing a cut off and flip flops.
Pace of play
Repair your ball marks
Don’t be a dick.
I’ve played too many courses for too long to care what other people look or do.
HOWEVER… the amount of golfers that show up with their shirts tucked as opposed to the ones that show up in a tshirt and shorts…
It’s just different. But I don’t care either way.
If your enjoyment is affected by whether another persons shirt is either tucked in or not, then you are an asshole.
Its too fucking hot out for tucked in shirts
You’re not at a real country club if they have nets on the range
