HI everyone welcome to another video I’m at 
Duxford I’ve got my green band so I can sit in the pilot’s enclosure it’s great having a 
grandson whose girlfriend whose mother runs the operations so what we’re going to do is run 
the line of the airplanes as part one and it goes all the way down to the Apache helicopters and 
the Chinook. Love it! Looking forward to that and we’ll start at the Sally B then I think I’ll 
walk just the enclosure you know from one end to the other and then we’ll do some footage of 
the planes as they fly see if I can capture some stuff it’s going to be an interesting one. 
I don’t think they’ve actually got a specific purpose today tomorrow is Battle of Britain 
flight and tomorrow is also the Red Arrows today was supposed to be a Boeing I think 
787 doing some low fly pass but because of the conflict in Iran uh they’ve had to um 
withdraw it I think it was probably a military um airplane so yeah let’s have a look and see 
what we’ve got here let’s start with the Sally   B always a lovely thing to see isn’t it sally 
B they plane landed on one and always so huge Memphis Bell right? I wonder if it’s still got   Memphis Bell painted on the 
other side? Glorious airplane I like that they let us this close to the Spits but it makes it sound like I’m never close 
to a Spitfire but if you saw my video at the Manston Museum then of course we 
got close up didn’t we link up here this is a later mark because you’ve 
got the clipped wings and the canopy is it a sea fire actually there are no signs we’ll see some of these flying later I’m sure 
because they wouldn’t be here if we weren’t it’s funny when I did the Manston there was a 
jet provost in the enclosure wasn’t there in the little museum and here we’ve got one and I think 
it’s probably going to be flying today guy’s doing his checks and stuff I do have my Sony Cybershot 
which I’ve got here which is great for capturing movie however I’ve got dust spot on it but I’m 
still going to use it I think it would be worth   um having a look at the video footage hurricane 
I don’t know if you can see it but it looks like there’s 101 dead bugs all along the front 
of the um of the wing tip and the propeller casualties of war right I want to have a look 
at this Dakota C47 not seen this one before it’s got kind of um commemorative air force it 
says on the tail navy colours normally you see these and they’re either all silver or they’re 
in military camouflage colours interesting you’re wondering this this first of all this airplane’s 
based in Dallas Texas we flew it here that’s why   it has the Texas flag up on top lone Star State 
this you’re looking at the last US Navy R4D the R4D was the US Navy’s version of the C47 or 
the Dakota this one is built in 1944 this is a genuine World War II vet served in the war uh 
and it was configured for anti-submarine duty it hunted German submarines so it actually carried 
depth charges if you look under the belly you’ll see the shackles if you look way under the wing 
you see those green things on the ground those   are the depth-charges so this was a Dakota that 
could fire back which was kind of unusual yep obviously it’s still flying because we flew 
it here from Texas it took We took the same   route they did in the war which is the long way 
you can’t cross the ocean it doesn’t have range for that you have to go around the ocean yep 
up the east co Yeah it’s called the Northern   Spruce route up the east coast Goosebay Canada 
North Sar Greenland Reykjavík Iceland Scotland yeah the airplane performed beautifully which 
was good because we work on it so we felt good it’s great that they flew it all the way 
from Texas to have it on the show here 1944 no I want I can do this I can go across I want 
you in the shot you’re like the babe that’s on the front sorry I’m being I’m being creepy sorry 
that’s okay oops hey I’ll talk to anyone even if it’s to try and give some creepy life she was 
a babe though let’s walk down the far left then it’s got a couple of military aircraft but 
I think there are some um aerob aerobic air display acrobatics those things then eventually 
get down to the um Apache helicopters here it goes hello yes hello you can’t have a hollow so you know I’ve been here before and it was um 
a p purposeful display based on things like the Battle of Britain and the like anniversary of but 
here they’ve obviously just opened the event for a weekend of flying and I think we’ll be in 
for some good flying right let’s go and have a look at the Apache helicopters they’re way 
down there let’s just give you a quick view of the civil airplanes EA Monarch Airlines and 
we’ve got a Comet here the Comet correct me if I’m wrong but the first commercial jet airplane 
it had its faults obviously but um I’ve not seen it on display here so this is a first for me 
when we go back out we’ll have a look at it the BC10 and then the Trident is it anyway 
the Apaches just here I understand that they are flying today and we’re going to get a 
display from them the firepower on those things there’s the Chinook over there. so you come here for um a walking tour 
day you know you can do the museums but I don’t think they’re the prime reason 
you would come especially when it’s an   air show and I think it’s just about 
being here to watch the airplanes fly but also just do a little bit of a 
jaunt so let’s go and have a look at   a closer look at the civil airplanes so 
we start with the Channel Island Hopper kind of thing that you would fly in Scotland 
wouldn’t you across all the little islands so we’ve got the BAC 111 it’s going to be 
the wing walkers and I didn’t say that we have a wing walkers with us right now let’s 
talk first of all to Kirsty Hi Kirsty hello it’s absolutely lovely to have you back 
you’re very excited so once again it’s a an exciting profession it’s a crowd 
stopper isn’t it but I want you to professional walk yes we absolutely love our 
job so if you haven’t seen our space before uh we fly around on vintage boats delivered by 
plane and myself will be climbing around the wings during flight performing on top of the wings the 
Trident the Hawker Sidley HS121 Trident SE this aircraft flew with the British Airways BEA from 
68 until 72 when it was leased to Cypress Airways damaged by gunfire during the Turkish invasion 
of Cyprus in 1974 and abandoned at NASA airport but yes it is brilliant fun and we absolutely 
love our jobs and if you would like to try a room for yourself VC come and join the team at 
our private airfield and we will take you up on the wing of these very aircraft with our 
display pilots for the ride I’ve got to say when you come here any other day than an event 
you can go in these airplanes cost you nothing if they’re open and they usually are but today 
£10 a go just to go in so obviously don’t go in when you’re doing an air show and here we’ve 
got the Comet I do miss it per entry if you want to go in to have one comet for today because I’ve 
never actually watched the way walking display so I’ve always been in it but have never watched it 
so I’m quite excited to actually be on the counter wow 1949 as early as that we were pioneers 
and leaders weren’t we British aviation look how close the cockpit 
is to the nose astonishing they used to have one of these flying at Headcorn 
and you could um pay for a flight in one and then the Spitfire would come beside and you could take 
photographs I don’t think it’s airworthy anymore must be difficult to keep them airworthy I’m not 
getting a vibe of what today’s all about so we’ll walk the length from the American museum back down 
towards the other museums to see what we can see there aren’t many what do you call them cosplayers 
you know where they’re all in uniform and stuff so I think that’s reserved for specific days oh 
I can hear music though suddenly yeah right let’s start at the top and walk our way back okay 
executive decision made I’m going to walk back all the way along but because all the museums 
are all on the left I’m going to do a little   whistle stop tour no more than 2 or 3 minutes 
inside each museum perhaps not even talking it’s the same just go drones I’m often um amazed at their capability 
because we watched the news recently we know that they are um forceful and primarily used 
in air warfare now so the technology that’s in them especially if you think about the 
camera gear they’ve got there and whether it’s electric or fuel powered must cost 
millions and all they ever do is fly to a target and explode anyway onwards 
U2 spy plane Gary Powers wasn’t it? look at the size of this thing super fortress over there I love this it just makes me think about 
hanging aircraft from your ceiling as a kid when you’re building your air 
models this is happens in real life that would have been a familiar site wouldn’t 
it flying Fortress with its escort mustang that was the American Air Museum hanger let’s 
continue down and see what the next one is when we arrived and we went into the pilots enclosure 
to grab our seats James was talking to one of the organizers and he said “Not so many people here 
today only 16,000.” He said “But tomorrow with the red arrows we’re expecting 21,000 people.” And 
I guess that’s the figures of this because you can only come here on flying days with advanced 
purchase tickets so yeah still a lot of people wandering up and down looking at all the little 
stalls but I’m going to take us on a whistle stop tour through the conservation in action hanger 
let’s see what they’re conserving at the moment this changes all the time because last time I 
was here they would have been restoring something what was that a B25 that 
they’re restoring look at that open storage for part of the bomb collection let’s hope that they’re not live can’t think 
they would this is the new stealth airplane that they’re restoring but this does 
look like What is that is that from the um the balloon that went up in the 
air did that have Branson in it oh that looks like a German is that a Mr smith yeah the Hank H162 being restored captured in May 1945 BMW 003 turbo jot engine was mounted on 
the top so that was what it looked like amazing it’s actually looks 
so tiny German jet from 1945 oh it’s the Avro Shackleton to burn well done a Kübelwagen with all their axles and engines their version of a Willy’s 
Jeep right? Westland Wasp. Crusader Mach 2 tank Montgomery’s campaign can caravans wow 
these three caravans were used by senior British Army officer Field Marshal Bernard 
Law Montgomery during the Second World War fascinating I know that you can get an air 
fix kit called Monty’s Humber I can’t even say that pack Pucará 
Argentinian Grand Attack what do you reckon Falklands War ’82 look at all these engines Junkers Juma this looks like something out of Indiana Jones 
doesn’t it where they put all the hidden treasures it’s great that they’ve got these engines   dame the Mercedes Mark IV what do 
you reckon world War One or two I’ll put something on screen now that I’ve got 
the name of it fascinating convers conservation in action I knew this conversation then 
conversation in action let’s look around here because then we can get back to the main 
drag I wonder if the ops block is open every time I’ve come here it’s been shut might be 
worth having a look if we’re lucky this is where you know we’ve seen it in all the war movies 
where they’ve got the big map of the southeast of England and they’re pushing all the little 
markers with their sticks looks like it’s open they go to control church the large raid is 
reported to be approaching the coast between 11 crews are throwing everything they have and 
please start getting the box ready in case they   head our way how many aircraft are available 
49 available sir 11 damaged in the earlier array rhox we need to get them up straight away 
scramble all squadrons yes sir Douglas scramble 242 immediately and form up the wind hello 302 
scramble scramble 31 scramble scramble hello F scramble one 9 and 611 squadrons immediately 
scramble all squadron scramble sir back all squadrons except 242 now airport sir far 
too long emmer connect radio to the channel connect it sir d controls are done what’s the 
hold up your orders and form the wing overhead as quickly as possible and proceed to board 
to patrol the angel 25 bus control stop by update on 242 sir 242 now thank you 
O that’s because they make it quiet 9735 they should be in a storage room now 
controls on idea Douglas vector 175 over yes okay now I know why it was closed every time I 
visited here they’ve been doing all that work in there fascinating so I’ve just skimmed 
through it but I reckon you could spend half an hour in there quite easily but I want 
to look at the other hangers just to see if anything’s changed from the last time I was 
here my fascination with all these military aircraft began as a kid building Airfix models 
but I also used to get the commando comics on screen this kind of thing now my favourites 
were always the RAF type ones where you had like a story of a lone kind of vendetta type 
pilot out to revenge you know the killing of his commandant or his you know squadron leader 
and so he would go on the rampage but it’d be things like this and in those comics this is 
where I learned my first phraseology of German because you’d get the picture of the German pilot 
in an ME 109 or a BF 109 and um it’d be just the voice caption would say a Spitfire and it’d be 
on his tail glorifying it I guess but hey it was it was war right let’s go in this hanger 
and see what they’ve what they’re presenting looks like it’s the Battle of Britain hanger 
I don’t think anything will have changed here let’s do a whistle tour shall we amen sure I got none of them will be at my 
You think that heaven on my pillow I can’t see their pretty 
faces I’ll have to go outside nice harmonies let’s go around the front see if we can 
get a picture of picture it’s video isn’t   it get some video footage of them singing

trip plane here which actually does fly we can’t get past this section but I think 
we can go in the door on the other side so   let’s head around look at this it’s got um 
body wrap on the Jag making it look like a World War I airplane a World War II airplane 
this aircraft is air worthy these do not touch yeah but they got a school outside have you 
crystals melon that’s what it looks like inside must I under there because the spit is so I’ve seen 
this flying actually won’t be flying today though maybe they’ll 
have it out tomorrow yeah but like The Westland Wasp the fairies higher flight that’s all the hangers apart from the main one 
at the end which I’m not going to go in because it’s just too too big um but I have visited it 
before so check out this video here I think what I’ll do is I’m now going to go and sit with 
family enjoy some lunch the flying starts at 1:00 so I will leave you with flying footage 
and photography gallery because I’m sure I’m going to take I’m saying that now in advance 
but I’m pretty sure I’m going to take a lot   of footage and a lot of photographs so thanks for 
that thanks for being with me just walking around Duxford before the air show starts so at least 
we’ve now got the whole vibe of the place I’ve been here when it’s been busier it’s not as busy 
today but we saw the girls singing and they were great tight harmonies and I chatted up the girl 
and I was creepy about it as well so there you go um flying footage gallery see 
you in another video bye for now to hear the roar of the twin Euro Jet EJ2 heat heat half pushing out to the west accelerating 
to a speed in excess of 500 mph heat heat heat heat oh heat heat I’m out a climbing spiral above the airfield now and once he reached the top it’s down into a spin heat heat you can see them here they’re taking off 
in handstand so they’re big swivel around so the seats they’re sitting in they are strapped 
into them and they’re swivel around they can do   handstands they can go sideways and and perform 
a lot of amazing stuff so we’ve got on the red plane I think is Dane and Ter and on the blue 
plane is Emma and Mike t is in her eighth year you have to have a lot of confidence you 
have to have a lot of confidence to do   this in both the aeropine the pilots 
and also that kit that you’re using passes this is the B so 
cool down at the bottom here wait at the top and that’s part 
of your wing walking with us these are some of the moves you would do with us   is watching Emma to make sure they are in 
time with each other and in formation playing and now you can start to see them 
climb around they’re sorting their   straps up to make sure they don’t 
hit in the face and slap around here heat heat and here it comes our bomber and 
fighter the R4D and the Spitfire heat up here and there she goes listen to that place 
give the guy in the door a nice wave is deployed operationally all over 
the world and it’s a go-to aircraft   for rapid insurgent and extra 
troops in dangerous location and the western operator and the field in 2017 
he qualified crew instructor and has been laid over 2,000 hours on rotary platform completing 
many overseas exercises and operation of the toilets and when he’s not in work and mostly 
when he is in work he can be found on the golf   course he’s also found the ability to go in 
the dark which will become apparent later on the aircraft now as the aircraft departs it 
performs what we call an over the shoulder of departure this presented the 
armoured floor to the enemy and   protecting the people on now as depart the 
rope the aircraft begins to climb you can see that David what we call bang off his 
rope on the working hard in the door now to what could be up to 90 ft of ro so he’s 
getting quite a sweat on inside that door not only is it just troops that go down the road 
we all popping a wheelie on our BNS kids now watch do this while 30 ft away from the a wheel in a 
16 12 ton helicopter at this point monitoring the height of each front wheels while monitors 
the a 26° loads up the blades will destroy the ground we will not be demonstrating this today 
the team work on the crew allows for effective information to be passed to power on TJ as they 
handle this magnificent machine you can see now that the Chinook has presented it ramp to the 
crowd Dave’s now currently on the ramp with a nice orange gloves which become a bit of a mark for the 
Chinook crew team as the aircraft lifts you’ll see Dave waving to the crowd so make sure you give 
him a big wave back with those orange hands huge team that keep the airframe function and 
airworthy 365 days a year holding national standby commitments for worldwide operations 
it’s worth noting that the flying today crew exclusively from frontline units with our 
role demo activities conducted around normal operational vehicles it’s thanks to the 
tireless work of the air crew engineers   official recruitment specialists and all the 
other supporting functions that have enabled the team to deliver this demo to you today in 
addition to our normal aircraft into a rapid return to target manoeuvre while in the front 
seat the co-pilot gunners will be working to identify any further targets among the 
dust and debris of the initial strike when the mission commander is satisfied 
that the enemy air defence is destroyed   the gunship can climb to identify 
all enemy threats from above this is done through the use of advanced 
thermal targeting cameras and that   in the cockpit the crews will conduct a 
separate pre-engagement checking clear roger going four weapons on 
108 range match and shoot match and shoot firing if enemy movement 
is seen gunship one and two can take action to dive on the target and engage a 70 mm high 
explosive hydra rocket like you have just seen if aircraft sensors were to pick up a thermal 
image of enemy troops the pilots would then   execute another return to target manoeuvre 
good spot target all target destroyed

  2. 34:24 – Boléro! I like that song. It reminds me of Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean who won the 1984 Olympic Gold that year in ice dancing. They ice skated/ice danced to that song, Boléro. It's lovely. I actually really like and admire Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean. They are not married in real life. They are both married to different people, but they are "partners" on the ice, and I just love how flowy and gracefully those two glide across the ice together, it's like they aren't even two people, they just flow and glide so gracefully together and work so wells together as a unit that they come across more as one person or one unit rather than two separate people. It's just the most beautiful and incredible thing I've ever seen from two ice skaters. Those two are just so well suited for each other on the ice. It's like they are made for each other, two halves of the same coin, and that's why I like them, and they danced to this song in the 1984 Olympics which they also won that year with all 10s and rightfully so, LOL.
