yeah that’s right Brad winning these tournaments isn’t easy you’re competing against 150 other guys throughout the weekend and in the six years of the Rocket Classic we’ve had five different champions of course Cam Davis being the lone twotime winner but if we go back to 2019 and the event’s first year it was Nate Lashley taking home the title his only PGA Tour win so far but we caught up with him this afternoon to talk about just how much that win changed his career all right joined by Nate Lashley sixth time participant is it now at the Rocker Classic yeah I think so sixth or sixth or seventh year now I think and the inaugural winner of the event back in 2019 what keeps you coming back to Detroit every single summer well I was the inaugural winner so that keeps me coming back uh I mean this Detroit this golf course always has a special place for me it’s my one and only win on the PJ tour so it’s always you know fun to come back here and I always look forward to it you look on that 18th pole walking up your name is on that board there what does that mean to you what memories come back to you there that week was just one of those you know special weeks where just you know everything went right it was one I hit the ball as good as I’ve ever hit it i was putting well it you know just everything fell into place and it was it was just uh it was one of those dream weeks and getting to win here and you know like I said this will always be special to me detroit’s always going to be a place that I I love to come to and the fans were great and I’ll always appreciate that now you’ve got some other wins in your career but this is your lone PGA Tour win how how has your life changed ever since that win uh well I mean it got me you know off to a career out here on the PJ tour so as far as you know life changing it it got me into to being able to be a kind of a full-time member on the PJ tour get me comfortable out here so it kind of changed me in that way as far as kind of giving me the comfort level and and that’s not an easy thing to do out here a lot of guys struggle with it and I still to this day struggle with it but but yeah I mean as far as the big change from from that week was really feeling like all right I you know I belong i can play out here with these guys it was a great thing so if you win this week you’ll join Cam Davis as you know tied for the most in tournament history with two wins there what would it mean to get a second win uh I mean it would be you know probably almost as special as the first obviously may win here twice i might have to buy a house a house on the course or something but uh uh I mean anytime you win or have a chance to win on the PJ tour it’s special it’s really difficult out here there’s just so many good players in these fields that are 156 man you’re playing against the best players in the world so it’s it’s difficult to win you grew up in Arizona so you’re used to that dry heat when it’s 90 degrees you can you can take it what’s the what’s the humidity like because it is uh it’s quite something here this week it’s dry yeah i’m not used to the humidity and it’s hot today but it looks like the rest of the week’s supposed to be a little better but um you know it’s always it’s usually pretty nice here usually it doesn’t stay too hot for too long usually it’s a good place i love it coming here you know and I’ll always come back as long as I can well you heard it right there potential future Michigan resident Nate Lashley but Nate’s had an interesting start to the season in his first seven events he missed the cut five times but since then he’s really settled in so he could be a potential uh name to watch as we go throughout the weekend brad I’ll send it back to you i really like that Alex good stuff with Nate i’m sure he uh would be happy to buy a second home here in
