today we are comparing two of the leading players distance ions of 2025 in the form of the Shrixen ZXI5 against the Mizuno JPX 92540 so two players distance irons both forged both looking for a combination of things they’re looking for distance but they’re also looking for feel and sound as well so trying to combine those two elements typically you know generally for a better player mid to low handicap golfer looking to try and combine both these clubs are aiming for good looks you know if we were to sort of look at these from behind um it’s always personal isn’t it i’d probably edge for me on the Shrixen it is personal there’s not a lot in it but what suits my eye I almost prefer that sort of kind of polished chrome look if you like rather than the sort of brush the brush steel i do prefer the the look of that Shrixen in the plane position again yeah Shrixen dust edges it for me but it is personal it really is um it is today really it’s about looking at some speeds cuz players distance obviously is the clue we need to look at the speed i want to give you my honest opinion on feel and sound looking at that dispersion as well okay so both pretty strong 30 31 degrees so quite strong in terms of loft we’ve got an identical shaft modus 105 stiff shaft in both uh let’s kick off with the Shrixen ZXi5 okay so starting with this ZXI5 from Shrixen shrixen have got a nice kind of clean lineup this year uh they got the ZXi 4 five and seven so the four is the sort of hollow back club this ZXI5 is your sort of players distance and then the ZXI7 is more like your players iron so this is this has been great you know we’ve we’ve done a lot of fittings with this iron this year uh at my golf club been super popular generally for your better golfer uh but it is quite a broad range um so looking for a little bit of forgiveness in there and you can see in that sort of playing position mid to small top line but it it does look fairly easy to hit not bad maybe just a touch heavy on that first one yeah that felt lovely that felt really nice and solid that one forge face so you know you you would expect it wouldn’t you on a on a nice hit you know felt really solid off the face but yeah not the longest is he there 163 for 170 so not not crazy long by any stretch yeah felt nice again decent spin as well you know we would expect the spin here around about sort of 5,000 given the the loft ball speed not crazy but feels nice a little bit off the bottom yeah we can see the drop off there in terms of carry around about kind of 8 yards compared to the good one which is not too bad shows that little bit of forgiveness which is what we’re looking for that felt nice yeah so the good ones all hovering about 165 which is quite nice good height on that decent spin there as well 53 ticking all the boxes really here looks and feels good oh yeah felt great that one that felt really nice and good to see like the really good strikes not going too far as well you know so that one felt right out the middle 164 carry again so it’s not it’s not jumping you know good spin number there just just under 5 a half thousand felt really nice yeah good again a little bit further on that one again you know fitting a lot of guys for combo sets in this you know you’re looking at longer irons in the perhaps the ZX i5 maybe you know five six seven and then your rate 9 wedge in the ZXI7 if you’re a fairly low handicapper good again yeah that was a good hit yeah I must admit really enjoyed hitting that it It sort of ticks all the boxes for me looks good feels good pretty forgiving pretty straight not a lot to not like about it so yeah very very good indeed okay so into this Mazuno JPX forge before we get into that if you would like a free swing analysis simply follow me on Skillst the link is in the description down below you will get a full analysis of your swing along with me demonstrating exactly what you need to work on including some drills to help you reach your goals this year back to the video to this Mazuno JPX forged gain their sort of players distance iron um trying to get that forgiveness but get the looks get the feel as well and get some distance so ticking a lot of boxes looks do look great you know that sort of brush steel finish looks great in that sort of playing position excited to hit it you know the Shrixen was very good it’d be interesting to see if that this can compete with it oh yeah the feel there is phenomenal that that I thought the tricks felt good this is even better yeah you can feel it straight away there off the off the strike just feels sensational love absolutely love that it’s funny isn’t it you know I didn’t think anything could feel nicer than that shrix in there and that just feels so buttery off the face there it uh really feels good that Yeah and you can almost that sound as well so soft can see why it’s so popular this iron you’re getting the you know decent speeds there but you’re getting that beautiful feel off it yeah sort of feels effortless there if anything feels a touch longer i don’t think there’s a lot in it and to be honest yes players distance iron you want you want distance but it’s probably not the kind of single factor is it you know it’s just is it forgiving has it got a decent amount of length interesting one that was a bit off the bottom dropped about 10 yards so just a little bit off the bottom but still not too bad felt great again yeah those center hits just feel really good good carry as well you know no sacrifice there in terms of numbers spin seems a bit better as well about 57 on that good one not bad just pulled it a touch okay just one more with this pulled it a touch again 34 feet that was really interesting you know the the Shrixen felt great that felt even better performance I’m interested to see the numbers i don’t think there’s a lot in it uh but let’s start off with dispersion okay dispersion you’d probably say Mazuno is a slightly smaller circle you’d probably argue Shrixen’s maybe a bit more central if anything just seem to be pulling pulling the uh Mazuno ever so slightly there’s not a lot in it but yeah smaller circle definitely definitely Mizuno but almost biased towards the left a bit so I don’t think there’s a lot in it really from from that point of view let’s let’s take a deeper dive into those numbers okay so club speed similar 83 84 ball speed quite a bit more out the uh the Mazuno 118.1 compared to 114.7 so that is quite a big difference to be honest launching slightly higher with the Shrixen but not a huge amount overall height very similar little bit more spin with the Mazuno and I kind of felt that as well as was hitting it five and a half thousand’s really good it’s going to get the stopping power there which is really key you know you look at that the carry there 168 for 175 so it’s stopping within what’s that 7 yards shrixen 163 for 171 again stopping within sort of 7 12 yards or so so not a lot in it guys side plus or minus 20 feet with the Mazuno plus or minus 20 feet with Stricken so good luck picking a winner out of those two you know looking at the numbers bit more ball speed out of the Mazuno overall distance marginally better Mazuno Trixen was great but I think for me just on feel based on all the other numbers being similar I’m going to give the winner to the Mazuno JPX 925 forged

  1. Hi! If my misses tend to be toe strikes or low strikes, which iron do you find works best for your customers in fittings out of ZXi5, 925 JPX Forged and P790?
    Thanks,
    Joe
