win. It’s kind of crazy when you
hear him say a 20 year career.
There’s something to be said. And you guys know the
physicality every single Sunday
trying to go and bring it. But when you hear Aaron Rodgers say,
hey, last time we’re going to
see him play would be this season. What resonates? The fact
that exactly what he just said,
he’s played 20 years in this league. He’s been highly
successful throughout his career
now. There’s been a lot of turmoil over the past few years,
been a lot of storylines. But
the one storyline that you cannot dispute is the fact that
this dude has been a really
consistent player throughout his entire career. We know that he
has the one Lombardi that he
that he’s able to host right now, but you knew you knew it in
your heart that there’s no way
that Aaron Rodgers was going to leave his career on a five and
12 season. There’s no way he was
going to leave his legacy in that way. So he again, he goes
to an organization that is world
renowned. He goes to an organization that is
consistently in the playoffs. He
goes to an organization that has an amazing leadership and coach
Mike Tomlin, and he gets his guy
with DK Metcalf and allows for him to go out there, have a true
number one, and finish the
career the way in which he wants to. Now, whether that ends with
Lombardi, I highly doubt that.
However, I know that he wants to go out with at least with a
winning record and at least
having a solid season. Yeah, Isaiah I think like what what is
the expectation of the
Pittsburgh Steelers? I know Aaron Rodgers what he has done
historically. He had a bit of a
rough two years in New York. I mean the first year doesn’t
really count. He wasn’t able to
show what he had. But last year really talented offense a lot of
weapons bring in Davante Adams
as well but still was never really able to produce much,
much points or much offensive
explosion. And here now in Pittsburgh the offense isn’t
stacked. You look at you look at
the depth chart. They’re not stacked. You traded away George
Pickens down to Dallas. They’re
outstanding left tackle Dan Moore. He signed a big contract
in Tennessee. It’s really for me
I don’t I don’t I don’t see Aaron Rodgers really lighting it
up. I ideally I think Mike
Tomlin he brought him in because he trust him with the ball so
they can take care of the ball
not turn the ball over. Score points. When you get into the
red zone and rely on the
defense. Yeah. How is it playing out. He’s been following it
following in the footsteps of
one of the greats. And that is Brett Favre. If you if you watch
Brett Favre over there the giant
excuse me with the green Bay Packers absolute legend. He
leaves. He goes to the Jets and
he does things the Jets way they lose. They missed the playoffs.
He threw for 22 touchdowns 22
interceptions third in the division. Then he says I’m a
Hall of Famer. I’m 40. I cannot
go out like this. What does he do? He joins the Minnesota
Vikings. Takes him to 12 and
four, NFC, NFC North champs. He revives himself. He actually
threw for a PR, a PR at the age
of 40 with 107 passer rating. So then what happens? He goes on
and eventually retires. The same
thing with Aaron Rodgers. He has a great over there. He’s a Hall
of Famer. He goes with the green
Bay Packers. He goes to the Jets. Does the Jets way they
lose. They missed the playoffs
five and 12 a lot of little a lot of things. That shows you he
was positive though. But it
wasn’t the Aaron Rodgers way. He doesn’t want to go out like
that. And what does he do. He
joins the Pittsburgh Steelers. Will he have the same success
that Brett Favre did? I’m going
to say no because Brett Favre was handing the ball off. To who
Adrian Peterson that was. They
couldn’t they had one single. Hi. So I think it makes a
difference. I don’t see it
panning out that well. But he is a Hall of Famer. How tough is
this when you know you’re at the
end and you guys are talking about the legacy. You know the
future Hall of Famer. That’s how
we introduce Aaron Rodgers all the time. When you’re down the
home stretch to run and you go
hey this is probably the last one. What goes through your
mind. How difficult is this for
Aaron Rodgers going into what is he saying his last season. No
it’s tough. I just finished my
12th year and it was it was extremely challenging from a
physical standpoint and mentally
too. Just everything that it takes to get prepared to play on
Sunday, it changes. It evolves
throughout the years. My first year, I don’t need to stretch,
warm up, nothing. We just we hit
the field. You guys know you get to year 6 or 7, it starts to
change and you have more of a
routine. But you get to year 12 and him, you’re 20 coming off an
Achilles injury. And it’s just
the process is so much it’s so much more that goes into the
process so many hours. Once you
leave the building in order to get yourself prepared. It’s a
grind. It’s a it’s a challenge
and it plays a part. You know what I mean? So him he knows
that this is his last season.
He’s going all in full investment. I honestly believe
that that might actually help
him. I think that he actually might have an added sense of
urgency. Not to say that Aaron
Rodgers needs one, right, but I think he might have an extra
sense of urgency because not
only is it his last year, but he also had his had his year taken
from him two years ago. Right.
So he understands that this game, as much as we’ve seen guys
get injured, he had it happen to
him. Right. So he knows that he has time that’s not on his side.
And he knows that any given play
I can be out for the year. So his urgency that he’s going to
have with his teammates and the
way in which they approach this training camp and how they
approach this season, I think
it’s going to be even more heightened, and we’re going to
see the best version of Aaron
Rodgers that we’ve seen, much like you talked about Brett
Favre. And I’m not mad at that
take. The thing about it is we know he’s going into his last
season. Right. And so what do
you have to do. You got to corral the locker room behind
wanting to champion you out. And
I don’t know if he’s had enough time during the off season
because it’s like who is going
to be the quarterback? I think if he would have said, I want to
be a Steeler, I’m going out this
way. I think the team in the organization could have got
behind his last hurrah. But now,
because it’s like, we don’t know, you took too long. It
seemed like an individual thing.
And I don’t know if you can get the chemistry behind it so
quickly. So. So what does that
do inside of the locker room? I actually want to go back because
you made a point to bring up
what his time with the Jets was when he signed there. I mean, it
was an entire city galvanized.
And it was all about Rodgers. They were completely behind him.
It was clearly his team. This is
Mike Tomlin’s team. Like I think about the Steelers. That’s their
identity, not necessarily Aaron
Rodgers. So is there those dynamics. How difficult is that
for them to navigate? I think
that is difficult. And it’s because y’all can talk about it
as being a player in a locker
room when you know who the best players are, you know who the
quarterback is, right? And when
you know he’s about the team and he puts the team first and he’s
coming in because he wants to
champion himself out versus, hey, you know, I just want to go
out with a bang. I want to play
with you guys. It’s a different and a different feeling now
we’re professionals, but y’all
can speak to it. How does that affect you guys in the locker
room and the young guys. Yeah.
No, I agree with you for sure. And I think coming from that
position specifically, you have
to see and you you want to see ultimate buy in. You do because
the quarterback is he’s
quarterback in the franchise. He’s quarterback in the city.
He’s bringing the fans. He he
has the ball in his hand more than anybody on the field. And
you want to see the ultimate buy
in. So to your point of him missing some some time in the
off season, I hope it doesn’t,
you know, factor in into the chemistry or lack thereof with
his receivers and the time and
getting the cadence down and all all those things. It takes reps,
no matter how long he’s played.
The other guys on that team hasn’t played 20 years. So I
hope that Tom miss doesn’t
affect the Steelers. We’ve talked about it in the past on
this show about how Aaron
Rodgers, there’s never a question of whether or not Aaron
Rodgers is going to be prepared.
Right. We know Aaron Rodgers is going to be prepared. But I
wanted it from your perspective,
right, from somebody who’s been very successful in the league as
an offensive lineman. How has
his his non-presence affected this team? Right. And how would
you perceive that as a veteran
offensive lineman now, quarterback who waited until
absolute mandatory minicamps to
come in? And how does that affect your preparation for
training camp? Every quarterback
is so different. So we had Tua to start the year. We went
through with with Tua throughout
the OTA process, training camp and then we lose in week three.
So Skylar Thompson comes in,
Tyler Huntley comes in. Their cadence is different. The way
that they say the say the plays
is different. So it’s so many small details and nuances that
really affect the game. The
first game in Seattle with Scarlet Thompson is like the
center snapping the ball too
early, snapping the ball too late. So we got 3 or 4 false
starts in the first two series.
All those just small details that people don’t really
necessarily think about plays a
huge factor on Sundays. So that time it’s I really hope it
doesn’t impact those guys up
front and it’s timing with the receivers, but it’s for us to
see. Yeah you know you played
Richard Brees late and this is not look they’re two different
guys two different leaders two
different performers. You know two of the all time great
quarterbacks. To Isaiah’s point
on on how you adjust from an offensive line perspective. Was
it different with drew at the
end. And I’m just wondering if the Steelers can take something
away from that. Not really. Drew
was drew was he was so consistent with his preparation
and the time that he spent on
the field and walkthroughs. Now, what was different and it didn’t
impact the offensive line at
all, was drew wasn’t able to throw during the week, so a lot
of people didn’t know drew would
take his drops and Taysom Hill will throw the ball. Jameis
Winston to throw the ball. Drew
really didn’t throw. Maybe third down. He’ll get one one period
of practice. But other than that
he didn’t throw the ball because he was dealing with torn rotator
cuff torn labrum. A lot of
people don’t know drew was playing through it all. Man. He
really was good context there.
Different perspective. When you the end zone, it makes everybody
else want to do the same thing.
To be fair, you do need to leave that early Malibu to Westwood to
get to UCLA’s campus. If you
don’t want to sit in traffic for a long period of time. But from
a wide receiver perspective in
the AFC, do you look at DK Metcalf and this duo now with
Rodgers as potentially maybe a
top five receiver in that conference or in the conference?
Well you think about the AFC I
mean you contending with a lot of top dogs. I like Jamaar Chase
obviously that tandem over
there. You look at Brian Thomas I think that him and Trevor are
going to continue to connect in
the chemistry and look over there with Tyreek Hill and Tua.
I think they’re going to
continue to grow. I really believe Stefon Diggs and Drake
Maye are going to have something
special this year. I truly do. And you can’t forget about rice.
Still he’s coming back healthy
playing with Patrick Mahomes over there. So it’s a lot of
different receivers. Yeah DK I
love DK. How can you not. You know his radius six for what he
two two whatever he is probably
230 a monster. He runs A443 40. So he’s a special specimen
without a doubt. But the
combination he’s coming over from Seattle and he had the most
deep balls attempts, I believe
in the NFL last year. Aaron Rodgers I don’t think his air
time is not there. So that
tandem I mean he’s not a bomber right. And so I don’t know how
they’re going to progress Geno
Smith aired the ball out I don’t think Aaron Rodgers is going to
air it out as well. But I do
like DK. I don’t see him as top five AFC this year though. Yeah
I see DK as a top five talent
for sure. No doubt I do the production, I don’t I don’t see
him having a top five season in
the AFC, the schemes that he’s about to face because of who’s
surrounding him. He’s coming
from Seattle where he had Tyler Lockett, Jaxon Smith-njigba. So
it was a lot of other attention
going to other guys here and here in Pittsburgh. He is the
focal point in the passing game.
So he’s going to see he’s going to see a lot of double coverage.
Jamar Chase Tyreek Hill, Jaylen
Waddle as well I don’t I don’t really see him having a top five
production level of production
in the AFC. I think that there’s a chance excuse me, I think
there’s a chance. And the reason
why is because he because of that right. He is the big dog on
campus. He is the only big name
in the room. The rest of the guys that are really in that
room, you know, you talk about
Calvin Austin, the third Robert Woods, you know, guys who are
complementary players. DK has
always had a complementary player who’s really had to be
respected as like a true number
two receiver. And I think for the first time in his career,
he’s going to have somebody he’s
not going to have anybody in that room with him. Right. So
yeah, now that might work
against him in terms of having coverage roll to him and things
of that nature. But I believe
that I don’t believe that they’re going to bring him into
this team, into this
organization, with this quarterback and not feed him the
ball. When you start looking at
some of the top receivers in this league, you brought up
Jamar Chase. You brought up
Tyreek Hill, some of those guys. But then after you get through
the first 3 or 4 games it starts
getting it starts dwindling down. In terms of top dogs. Most
of the big time receivers in
this league, no disrespect to the other guys are in the NFC
right. So I believe that there’s
a chance for them now. Will he get the opportunities in this
type of scheme? We know
Pittsburgh historically has always been a run first type of
team, so that might impact him.
But I truly believe that if you bring a dk in and you let a
pickens go, you’re going to give
him the rock and give him the it without you. Time for a round
of Whiteboard Wednesday. Kick
things off with the running back position. In honor of Rashad
being here, the best one two
punch running combos, running duos in the NFL. You know this
position better than than anyone
here at the desk. So if I said to you, give me that that one
two punch in the NFL, that’s
just head and shoulders better than everywhere else. Everyone
else, where are we going? Oh, we
reveal the camera. How do we reveal this? Which way are we
going? You look in the single.
There it is right there. Ladies and gentlemen, we’re going over
there with the Chargers. This
duo right here with Najee Harris. Oh I’m telling you they
rocking this season. And Omarion
Hampton coming out of North Carolina University. And the
reason why I’m high on these
two. You got to think about Harris right now. Fighting to be
one of the only running backs
ever in the NFL history to have five consecutive 1000 rushing
yards since his rookie season,
and that puts him in conversation with Eric
Dickerson, Barry Sanders, Emmitt
Smith. And don’t forget LaDainian Thomas. And we know
who he did it with with the
Chargers. So I have to put him in there because of the run
physical defense and Omarion
Hampton I had the privilege to actually do college football,
ESPN radio last year. I would
travel around the country to the top games, and I championed him
as one of the best running backs
behind Ashton Jeanty. No doubt this guy is a difference maker,
and that’s the reason why I
truly believe they’re not going to resign Najee after this year.
So right this year, these two I
love the run heavy. First, I had North Carolina a couple of times
during the season as well. And
Hampton was that team’s offense a lot of ways. Some similarities
with how he totes the rock like
Harris too. I mean, big bruiser guys, they’re like Hampton’s
like a like a freight train out
there. You don’t want to create contact with him. I love that
call to run. Who do you got? It
pains me to show this, but shout out to my guy Aaron Glenn. So
I’m going to go with the Jets.
Okay? Breece Hall, Braelon Allen I think it’s a it’s a response
year from Breece Hall. We saw
the explosion early in his career and he was derailed by
injury. I think this year he
takes off and he shows form. He’s a top five running back in
the league this year I think
with Justin Fields over there as well, we get more of the dynamic
of that added element. You have
to worry about the quarterback. So a lot of RPOs, as we see with
Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry
and those guys, it’s a lot of discipline that takes place.
That needs to be for a defense
to stop the running quarterback. And you got these weapons like
Breece Hall and Braylon Allen,
Braylon Allen in the short yardage game, goal line game.
He’s a bruiser. 612 3240 big
powerful back. I really think this one two punch is the top of
the league. You surprised that
the Jets went away from Hall late in the season last year,
because it felt like he was a
lot of the offense earlier in the campaign. And yet when they
trade Davante Adams, it was
almost like double downing. On Aaron Rodgers in that passing
game. It was exactly that.
Exactly that they put the ball in Aaron Rodgers hands. Let let
him dictate and orchestrate
everything. With Davante Adams coming over Garrett Wilson too I
mean they have they had extreme
weapons on the outside. So I understand. But I think Breece
Hall is the focal point of this
offense. In order for the Jets to be successful, to be
productive on offense, it has to
go through Breece Hall. Yeah, two duos down. And I’m almost
shocked I didn’t hear the one
that I first came to mind. Listen, I know I respect you
guys answers. You know what I
mean? You know, I got my studious glasses on today and
the reason why I have these on
today, because I’m the only one that has the right answer. The
right answer is Sonic and
Knuckles, 2187 yards. That’s right. If you don’t know Sonic
and Knuckles is. That’s them
boys down there in Detroit. The Jahmyr Gibbs and David
Montgomery. That’s the only real
answer. These dudes are the nastiest one two punch in the
league. You start talking about
ham burger, peanut butter jelly. These guys are the one two that
you have to be concerned about
when Barry Sanders comes out and says, these guys are real. This
is the nastiest duo in the
league. You might want to believe them. You got a power
back. You have an explosive back
that has crazy speed, that is shifty as all get out. You talk
about playing Madden the other
day. They’re hitting all the joysticks. All right. It doesn’t
matter who you are. You don’t
want to see these guys. It doesn’t matter when one comes in
one subs out. The defense has
problems. That’s all it’s all about. You know, I said this to
you in our makeup room this
morning and I go, I know it doesn’t count. And it’s not in
the spirit of what the answer
should be. Lamar and Derrick Henry, that’s the best 212
punch. But once again, we’re not
we’re not necessarily picking running backs that are that are
out there. All right. We go from
offense to a little defense pass rushers to work on their
skills, their techniques and of
course, a little bit of that knowledge. What’s going on
underneath that helmet. So which
player comes to mind when you hear the term sack master? I see
everyone feverishly writing down
on their whiteboard, and it looks like since you have your
answer first, I will let you
unveil who you like as the cream of the crop. Yeah, when we talk
about sack mastery right in the
league today, I’m gonna have to go with TJ. I’m gonna have to go
with TJ Watt. And Myles Garrett
is a very close number two. But he’s one of the crossover. Yeah
the eye crossover. They’re one
of the same. But I have to give him the tip because of his
forced fumbles. Is 33 forced
fumbles is 33 is insane. And then Myles Garrett has 20 is
right behind him. But when you
look at forced fumbles a knack for the ball attacking the ball.
He’s over there with Pittsburgh
Steelers. And that is he is the staple of that defense. He is
the Pittsburgh Steelers defense.
And without him it changes everything. And I think he’s a
special player. He’s a motor
nonstop guy. But I’ll be interested in what our offensive
linemen would say who it is. But
I would have to lean towards TJ. Listen, I definitely respect
your pick for sure. I think the
forced fumbles is the component that makes TJ sacks Uber
impressive. I’m going right
here. Ooh man hater man. Pay the man. Pay the man. He’s a former
teammate of mine I hated him in
practice. He he practices so hard like everything that you
see from this guy in game that’s
that’s how he prepares. He’s relentless. His pursuit, his
intent, his intensity. He’s
going to talk to you crazy. He’s the sack master. And the reason
why I give him the nod over,
over some of the top others is because he didn’t come out the
gate as the starter. He had to
work his way up. He had to go through Cam Jordan and Marcus
Davenport in order to get on the
field. So in limited times and limited starts, he’s right at
that, at that mark with those
guys. As far as sack totals, he’s consistent 15 plus a year.
Sack master Trey. That’s a
pretty good one I respect it I like I respect it easy to yeah
those guys are really good
players really good players. But you know what? Those guys are
humans. You know the only
non-human on this list. Talk to me Myles Garrett Myles Garrett
is the only non-human you guys
see right there not human. This dude is a physical specimen. I
know you probably can say
something about him too. Listen, this the only guy that you line
up against and you’re like, you
know what, I don’t want to speak for you. But you would say, ooh,
I got a problem on my hands in
terms of physically handling this, dude, it’s not only the
speed, it’s not only his power,
but it’s just pure size determination. There is a will
that he has that he enforces
upon his opponents. When he steps to the line of scrimmage,
you have to make business
decisions. It’s not just about what he can do, it’s about his
speed rush or about his, you
know, his his bull rush. This dude can physically pick up
anybody that he’s going against.
And when you have to face that as an offensive lineman, I would
imagine you could back me up. I
would imagine that there’s a little, little, little person in
the back of your head that’s
like, you better get your mind right, because this dude could
do harm to you. That’s a fact.
Well, you know, Crosby is not in this conversation. I mean, we
talk about relentless motors.
I’m almost surprised his name didn’t pop up for you guys.
Yeah, I mean, it’s just because
you got to only pick one, and he’s in the conversation. In the
conversation. Conversation? Yeah
Myles Garrett I mean Myles Garrett has 102 and a half sacks
in his career. Yeah that is not
102. And he just got a new contract. He’s still going. He’s
not slowing down. We’re not
talking. Somebody’s talking about somebody at the end of
their career. We’re talking
about somebody who’s just revving up and they just got him
some help. Right. So you talk
about, you know, young guns, now that he can coach up this
defensive line is a problem. And
he’s not the only person that you have to be concerned about
now. So now what does that do in
terms of freeing him up for more opportunities I agree I agree I
think Trey I go with Trey
because not only is his production and what he’s able to
do, but the Cincinnati Bengals
offense. So they’re playing with leads. Teams have to pass the
ball a lot more. He get a lot
more opportunities to rush. I can’t say the same thing for
Myles Garrett. It’s going to be
a lot of run game. First he got to earn those third downs. Yeah
that is true. I want to go off
menu here beca to earn those third downs. Yeah
that is true. I want to go off
menu here because 28 years ago this week, iron Mike took an
earful of just grabbing that ear
of Evander Holyfield. Third round of a heavyweight match.
This is one of those iconic
sports moments, one of those things that you’ll say, I’ll
never forget when I watched this
go down. So I ask you guys and Isaiah, I will let you kick off
here. What’s that one sports
moment that you watched and you said, you know what, I will
never forget this happening. Oh,
it has to be NBA finals. Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls
facing the Utah Jazz and the
games down to the last eight seconds. This is to win his
sixth championship. MJ comes
down the court. He’s dribbling. He’s dribbling. Byron Russell’s
right in front of him. You know
what ends up happening. Yeah MJ 23 happens. His dude goes up
there hits him with the
crossover. Throws him by whether it was a foul or not. Whatever
it is. And then goes up there
hits the jump shot and leaves it up there like love and
basketball for as long as you
want to. All the way to commercial. That was the prime
time play for me as a young
athlete, regardless of the sport, watching somebody in
their prime doing what they do,
watching the guy that is the best on the court, best in the
game, best in the history show
up when his team needed him most and there was no lack of
confidence. That was the biggest
moment for me. When the goat delivers in that type of moment
on the biggest stage, talk to
him, talk to him. It’s hard to forget that. What do you got a
little bit of recency bias here.
Maybe. Maybe. But listen. Oh yeah that actually I was
watching this game live. Yeah.
And it was just yeah it’s incredible. I was I was
speechless speechless to have
the, the wherewithal the to have the guts and the ability to pull
this off. The one span, the
second mid span to have the ability to elevate. And I’m
still I’m still lost. Doesn’t
make sense. It’s crazy what that was all reaction. That was just
an all reaction. As a runner you
can’t plan for this. You go out on the training field, you got
the cones set up. Nobody is
setting up a cone where you spin hurdle backwards. Backwards.
Yeah, but first doesn’t happen.
The question is, what buttons do you have to hit in Madden this
year. Right Madden 26 to make
that happen. That’s the question. You hit that analog
circle. Analog circle. Would
that have ever crossed your mind. Like did you even think
about envision doing something
like that. No. Like that’s such a it’s such a perfect timing.
You have to you have to have
your foot in the right position, angle everything to even start
to think that way. You know what
I mean? And then the ability to do it this is that is not a
natural move, man. So I don’t
know where that came from, but man forever. It’s a sin to turn
your back to the defense. Yeah.
You ain’t doing that. You don’t turn your back to the defense as
a as a ball carrier. Right.
Because you know and then decide to jump turn your back right.
Hit him with the and then turn
your back. And it’s like, you know what. Yeah I’m going to air
up there on you. Put him on the
not human list too. Yeah that’s a whole human list on there.
That’s going to be a segment for
later. Yeah we’ll do that later. Not top not human list. Top
five. All right. What’s your
moment? Oh my moment. It was something I was a part of. And
that was a obj. Yes. One handed
catch. MetLife Stadium. Prime time football against the Dallas
Cowboys. And on the air. Look at
that. This was insane. Folks I was in the stadium when this
happened. In the air that came
out of the stadium. Not on the initial catch because it just
happened so fast. It was when we
watched it on a big jumbo screen and it was a replay. Was he
inbounds out of bounds and he
came down. Oh, he caught it with three fingers maybe two and a
half. Two and a half fingers
came down with the ball. I’ve never seen anything like that.
But because of how he practiced,
because of how he trained and what we saw from him outside of
the cameras weren’t surprised.
We weren’t surprised at all. Dude. It’s special. I can attest
to that for sure. We were
teammates this year in Miami, and just as a catcher of the
football, the ball is different.
Still got it. It’s different. Yeah. Give him different. What?
This man is crazy. I think these
are all great moments. When I saw the question, I just started
thinking, hey, like, what are
those things that happened? You referenced MJ like, I was a kid
for that. That certainly comes
to mind. The first buzzer beater that I saw in the NCAA
tournament, Tyus Edney, UCLA
going coast to coast like that comes to mind. O.b.j was on my
list. I should have had Saquon
there as well. But how we don’t talk about one of the biggest
catches that we have ever seen
in a Super Bowl. And I’m almost surprised you didn’t go there
because you used to rock that
uniform. Yeah David Tyree, how are we not talking about that.
And if I’m not mistaken that
might have even been a third down. I think they completed two
third downs on that drive. It
was third and five and a third and 11, culminating obviously
into a Super Bowl title for a
team that was an underdog. Oh, here it is. I was wondering, I
was like, can I get some of the
some of this action. Eli Manning looking like Patrick Mahomes out
there scrambling ready to rock
and roll. Look at that. That ain’t Patrick Mahomes. But the
point is to have the wherewithal
I know it’s not OBJ with the with the hand back and the one
handed grab. But the desperate
moment out on that football field knowing like you got to
make this completion. The fact
that that wasn’t there on that list. Come on guys respect
respect respect the OBJ though
man I’m telling you. And the don’t know how he would have
done that. He had to wrap it.
Five syllable last name. I guess I didn’t even count. That’s big
time. You know the names I like
Josh Allen. I could say it. It’s nice and easy. And that bills
quarterback. We say his name a
whole lot. He picked up some hardware after being named the
NFL MVP last season, but
ultimately his team coming up a little short of that ultimate
prize, the Lombardi Trophy.
After falling to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. And
he told SI.com the ring is still
the thing that he’s chasing. Yeah, pretty much every single
player, right? Allen saying,
quote, you know, it’s such a great honor and I do appreciate
being honored for my work. But
at the same time, I still didn’t win a Super Bowl, didn’t win a
ring. And that is the only goal.
It’s the only focus that I’ve ever had going into this league
now. It’s tough right? Like when
you have in the AFC a guy like Patrick Mahomes who seemingly
every single year and I get it.
Jalen Hurts and the Eagles won the Super Bowl. But at least to
get through Patrick Mahomes is
not necessarily the easiest thing to do. So I ask you who’s
that? Who’s that player? Who’s
that team that can get over the hump and finally dethrone the
Kansas City Chiefs? You know
what, Mike? This is a loaded question. It is. This is a very
loaded question because there’s
two parts to it. You have the quarterback aspect and then you
have the team aspect right. And
we know that the QB leads well how the QB goes usually how the
team goes. So with that in mind,
I’m going to go with the team in the quarterback that I feel has
the most momentum as of late.
Right. And I believe that is Josh Allen and the Buffalo
Bills. I think in the AFC, these
guys are strong. Obviously Josh Allen has improved every single
year. Josh Allen just won the
MVP in the league. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills over the
last three years have went wild
card divisional. And now they won. They went all the way to
the AFC Championship game. I
believe that these guys have increased in their production
every year. Now. The quarterback
is probably at the height of his game, and I think that they’re
one game away from going to the
big time show they are. But yet I look at James Cook in that
backfield, contract issues
there. We still question some of the offensive pieces at that
wide receiver spot around Josh
Allen. Good answer. He got there. Homestretch here. Is
there a different team that you
have on your head. It is it is. We see Patrick Mahomes. He’s
gatekeeping these rings like
like Michael Jordan did back in the day. He didn’t let Charles
Barkley get one. He didn’t let
John Stockton and Karl Malone get one. Patrick Ewing Patrick
Mahomes is doing the same thing
in the AFC. It’s time. Lamar Jackson Lamar Jackson. I see
Lamar being the guy in the
Baltimore Ravens, being the team to dethrone the Chiefs in the
AFC. They get over that hump.
Finally this year the roster is stacked. Yes. It’s no better
time than now. Their latest
acquisition Jaire Alexander and DeAndre Hopkins on offense to
make those big third down
conversions they just played Rashod Bateman. The offensive
line is stacked Ronnie Stanley
outstanding left tackle. The tight end duo like we can really
go go down this roster and the
time is now. I think this is the year that we he finally not we.
I don’t have a dog in the race.
Shout out to dolphins this year. I think Lamar Jackson and the
Baltimore Ravens get past the
Kansas City Chiefs in Baltimore in the playoffs. Yeah they have
they do have at least in my mind
to the best roster in the NFL which is hard to top. But is
there an up and coming team
Rashad. Oh yeah we’ll find it out. Yeah. Listen we love Lamar
Jackson. We love Josh Allen. We
know what they bring to the table. But y’all missing what’s
going on over here in SoFi
Stadium. Again. It’s the Chargers Justin Herbert is going
to be the guy to dethrone. And
we ain’t talking about somebody that can win a couple games.
Actually win the Super Bowl
actually dethrone him. And it’s the Chargers. Now you ask is it
the team or is it the player.
Now we like we like passing yards don’t we. I love 10,000.
Sounds good. He was the fastest
to get to 10,000 yards. And guess who he dethroned that
record from Pat Mahomes. Oh
y’all forget about that. We like TDs right? He has the most TDs
in the first four consecutive
seasons. We like passing yards right. He has the second most
passing yards in the first four
seasons behind Andrew Luck, who Andrew Luck was coached by Jim
Harbaugh in college. And guess
who’s the head coach now with the Chargers Jim Harbaugh. You
see how this works. We like
consistency. He has. He is the only the only quarterback to
throw for 4000 yards his first
four consecutive seasons. So with all that in mind plus their
defense, don’t get me started
about their defense. Their defense is loaded over there
with the Chargers in the offense
bringing in. I told you they got the best duo running back
before. So as a team
collectively we got to start talking about these Chargers I
don’t know what y’all talking
about. Now question for you because I know me and my boy TR
I’m gonna go ahead and pull down
I’m gonna go I’m gonna go with the with the auntie or the
uncle. Auntie. Get him first.
Listen here. Now you brought up all those stats. Yeah. What’s
the playoff stats? I said what
you say now that Chuck, I said what you say now, Chuck, that’s
the question that we all want to
have. We don’t want to talk about the individual stats. We
understand that the QB has to
ball out. But along with the QB, the team, all three phases of
the game special teams, offense,
defense, they got to be hitting and they have to get to the
playoffs in order to even think
about dethroning them boys out there in KC. I’m with you,
Isaiah. I heard a lot of
numbers. Rashad. Ooh, 10,000 40,000 of this individual
playoff wins. Ooh. So hold on
zero. Y’all coming in with a playoff win. What was the number
zero. In Spanish. Come on you
know what. Y’all want to talk about stats. Then let’s talk
about stats then why y’all don’t
we. How y’all like that okay. We’re talking about the
playoffs. Yes y’all bring up
Josh Allen. You bring up Lamar Jackson watching them head to
head. Oh they’re great
absolutely great. Phenomenal. We’re not taking that away.
Let’s go to the playoffs. What
happens to Lamar Jackson here. He’s played eight playoff games.
He’s thrown for 1700 yards. You
look at Josh Allen. He’s only played in five. He’s thrown for
3400 okay what happened. Now you
look at them two TDs. Josh Allen has thrown for 25 TDs with four
picks in the playoffs. What
happened to Lamar Jackson ten touchdowns to seven
interceptions. What happened.
You want to bring up stats. Let’s talk about some stats
here. And so when we continue to
talk about the stats you start to say okay who are the coach.
Statistically Jim Harbaugh stats
are insane. So now when you pairing the two give them a
second year. Come on. Who who
else. You know going to the playoffs first year. And by the
way Justin Herbert was banged
up. Remember he got hurt before the season started dealing with
a foot injury. So there’s
something here. What does the evidence tell you. And I know
you can point to Justin Herbert
in some of these losses in the postseason. I understand that.
But the question was how do you
get over the hump against Patrick Mahomes and company? The
reality is we have we saw and
look I’m with you Tyrone. I think the Baltimore Ravens are
the team to beat in the AFC. But
they had a home AFC championship game two years ago and couldn’t
close out against Patrick. And
we saw that team get to the postseason. So these these guys
haven’t had a ton of postseason
success against Mahomes and company. So maybe we point to a
team that is seeing them
consistently inside that division sleeper. Yeah that’s
why we got to go with the
Chargers. And I love Lamar Jackson I think if it’s going to
happen with Lamar it needs to be
this year. This year I mean it needs to be this year because
you got Derrick Henry still
running up. I mean the whole entire defense Lamar still
everybody stays healthy over
there. This is their year. Josh Allen is going to be consistent.
But the sleepers seriously is
the Chargers all right. If you’re going to go sleeper an up
and coming team then that also
means that windows are going like this for a couple of those
star players. And Josh Allen and
Lamar are about to get paid. So yeah, there’s going to be some
people that have to be some,
some some what do you call it. Got to trim the fat on the fat.
Sacrifices collateral damage.
Okay. So do we do say like I don’t want to say this season or
bust because I hate that type of
question. But the reality is, if the window is closing, does it
is there a sense of desperation
to make sure that this is your year? I believe that the
Baltimore Ravens have a sense of
urgency. I wouldn’t say desperation. I would say there’s
a sense of urgency because just
like we’ve seen what just happened in San Francisco,
right? Their whole team just got
got in terms of guys that were impact players that had to leave
the roster because you had to
pay the QB. Lamar Jackson has a contract right now, but we know
what’s about to happen with
Lamar’s contract. Lamar was right there and could have been
a three time MVP. He has a ton
of leverage. If he goes out there and does what we expect
him to do this year, he’s going
to get the bag. Matter of fact, I don’t think that they can
allow him to touch the field
without him getting the bag. So I think that once that happens,
somebody is going to be
collateral damage. So you’re talking about your ability to
have the greatest impact. You
know, your your chances of having the best team. This is
going to probably be the best
team that Baltimore can put on the field for some time to come.
Is it where we’re not talking
about Joe Burrow? We’re not talking about C.J. Stroud. I
mean, two years ago, as good of
a season we’ve seen as a rookie, and we just talked to one of his
teammates in Darrell Taylor.
Like that team seems like they could potentially make a run. I
like those two more than the
Chargers. No no offense I’m not taking shots. Chargers yeah I
like Houston more than the
Chargers. I like Cincinnati more than the Chargers pick with
Cincinnati their defense and
Trey Hendrickson. They get him signed and well paid. Well paid
that that defense is different.
It’s a different dynamic. But they’re playing those games.
They start getting into training
camp. No deal done. If their defense doesn’t have that man on
the edge, they’re not in the
race. They’re not in the picture. I don’t really care
what they can do offensively in
the playoffs. You’ve got to be able to stop somebody’s physical
football. Bully football. How
did the how did the Philadelphia Eagles talking about dethroning
right. But that’s AFC. How did
they beat Pat Mahomes. Big fellas. Big fellas being
physical. Who did Chargers
offensive line. You’re right with bully ball. The way that
Jim Harbaugh wants to play. And
an efficiency behind a Justin Herbert is the recipe. I mean
you got to put together a full
course meal if you want to beat them. Now Lamar Jackson Josh
Allen I think they put together
a good steak. You know what I mean a good play me on. But
we’re talking about we need a
dessert. You need to come clean the crew up all that. So I 100%
agree with you. And I felt that
Philly was going to do that to Kansas City just because of who
they had. But when we start
talking about, you know, some of the top teams in the AFC, once
you go Kansas City, once you go
the bills, once you go the Ravens. For me, the number four
is Houston because you start
talking about the bully ball. Look what Houston has done with
their offensive line. Look what
Houston has done with their D line. We just got off the got
off the call with them right.
Their defense is absolutely disgusting. You start talking
about protecting CJ Stroud. And
now he has all his weapons back on the field. Matter of fact
they doubled down and added more
weapons for him to distribute the ball out to. Who do they
have in the backfield. Two
headed monster. That’s nasty. They got Mixon and Chubb. So you
start talking about being able
to play bully ball and take the ball away. H-Town is a tm you
better have your eye out for. So
then put them head to head. You got you got Houston and you got
you got the Chargers right.
Houston has a better team. So then we have to I don’t know
about that. I think they’re very
similar I think they’re very similar though very similar
though. But the edge goes to the
quarterback. Who you taking as your quarterback. Would you
rather have CJ Stroud in the
strap or would you rather have Justin Herbert. And that’s a
hard conversation. CJ Stroud
proved a win in the playoffs first year. Oh did the team
because you talk about the team
and the coach Justin Herbert was up 24 points. Houston has a
playoff team against
Jacksonville. Yeah y’all got me on that one. Yeah. You know that
was that was a that was a
collapse. But that also led to the Harbaugh to get to Harbaugh
right like that that those
issues without Harbaugh I don’t know what happened without him I
don’t Harbaugh ain’t passing the
ball to nobody up 24 points get the job done even. But even
before I think you can start
having a conversation about the Chargers, right? I talked about
the top four teams Houston being
my number four, my number five. It has to be has to be Denver
Denver Broncos. I was just about
to bring that. They were a playoff squad a season ago.
We’re just afraid of the
sophomore slump. We did see it a little bit with Stroud because
that’s what Miami Dolphins guys
don’t forget the Dolphins we got we got to get that. Don’t hold
on. But look and I know you’re
not going to throw shade at that squad. But they go as far as Tua
goes right. And there’s some
issues that we have seen where I think all of us see some of the
hits that he’s taken and we go,
oh my God, please. I don’t I don’t want to see you hurt in
the long term. Yeah. If he’s not
out there like there’s a real drop in production. Yeah. No
absolutely. Absolutely. We the
Dolphins go as far as to takes them for sure. But as we talk
about the numbers we get into
the analytics. It’s not many differences between Justin
Herbert and Tua as far as their
production as a passer. They haven’t had the production in
the postseason, neither one of
them. So we can’t elevate Justin Herbert and what he’s done
statistically in the regular
season and not give two of the same grace. And Tua has far more
dangerous weapons. That’s not
it’s not even a conversation that’s not even compare to her
and Justin Herbert. Is that
what’s going on when you put when you put those two up, when
you put those two passers on the
field with their weapons? I am much more afraid of the Miami
Dolphins than I am of the
Chargers. I’m not talking about take the running game out of it.
I’m talking about how you going
to take the game? How you gonna take the running game out of it?
Don’t take the running game out
of it. Don’t don’t take the running game is a bigger part of
what opens up. Who are the top
two? Take the running game. The top two people that Herbert’s
throwing the ball to. You got to
think about it, right. You got to think about it. He’s he’s
coming up. Coming. You do have
to think about it. But the point is that regardless of that, it’s
the same thing with Josh Allen.
You had to think about it. You had to think about who was his
top catchers because it’s him.
He is that good. He’s established these records just
do not happen. I can’t make this
stuff up again. I get things old adage, right. Like your best
skill is availability. I know
there’s alliteration there that I am missing, but we see Justin
Herbert out on the football
field. Not always the case. I think there’s an argument to be
made about some of the pieces
that Miami has compared to the Chargers, but that is new school
football, you know, because you
played there versus old school football. And if we do see that
matchup clash in a postseason
game, I would love to see it. That would be tremendous. I love
to see it now. We started this
conversation with kind of like a two horse race here with Lamar
and Josh Allen, and we said,
hey, maybe that window is shrinking just a little bit. Who
gets that Super Bowl first
between Lamar and Josh I think Josh gets it. Wow I really like
I’m a big Lamar fan. There’s
just something about the Ravens that’s just been missing and you
can’t put your finger on it. And
I don’t think Baltimore could put their finger on it either.
They’re trying to figure it out
also. Right. Which is why they’re stacking the roster and
they’re trying to put as much
talent as they can. But something is missing and you
don’t feel the momentum of their
team gradually building every single year. Regular season.
Yes. But in the playoffs you get
to the playoffs and you just have that. You got that queasy
feeling about Baltimore, right?
You’re not fully confident. Make the same argument with Buffalo.
Buffalo you same argument. But I
went back in the history Buffalo again wild card division AFC
championship. They’re there.
They’re growing towards the towards the Super Bowl right. So
they’re migrating up along with
their quarterback Josh Allen was close to MVP races. Now he won
the MVP right at the same time
that his team got to the last game before going to the Super
Bowl. So they have the momentum
on their side with the Baltimore. We keep going back
and saying, well, their roster
is dope. Yeah, that’s all we can lean on right now. Yeah. Well I
mean but I think Lamar Jackson
if I had to put my money on it happening this year, it would be
his best chances this year. I
really do think that we’ve already alluded to the contract.
Things are going to change. I
don’t think you could keep mark Andrews and likely the next
year, like there’s a lot of
things that have to change. So it’s going to be Lamar’s turn.
It’s got to be this year. Josh
Allen though. I mean I think he’s going to be consistent.
He’s done more with less. I like
him, I like both, but I do too. Yeah, but in a clutch like, who
do you have to lean on. Right.
It’s a combination of a little bit of history but who you trust
and that’s a tough one. I’m
going Lamar going Lamar 41 touchdowns four interceptions.
Insane. Yeah the stats are
stupid you know what I mean. Like that’s that’s efficiency.
That’s protection of the ball.
Turnovers the number one stat in the NFL. If somebody is
protecting the ball I’m going
with that guy I trust that guy. Well if you if you look at the
rosters right. And it does come
down to a trust issue, the better team on paper is
Baltimore. Yeah. Right. I mean,
just based off of the offseason acquisitions, the draft was
absolutely tremendous for him
and the pieces that they already have in place. Yeah, I just
never seen a piece of paper win
a ring. So you know what I mean. Like we can talk about papers
all day. You know how that go.
But you got to get out there and play and you know, consistently.
Josh Allen’s been that guy.
Yeah, absolutely. But find out if Baltimore can get over the
hump. Something that we also
haven’t seen. Buffalo. There’s a I’m not gonna lie. I got a
little goosebumps. Not just
because it’s cold here in the studio. I know I speak for all
of us when I say we cannot wait
to go and watch this. We go three. And out here with season
two of quarterbacks. All right.
We will start with Jared Goff. By the way great redemption
story. If you had to pick a
quarterback to choose here he should be on the short list. And
I’m glad he’s going to get
highlighted. Is this team going to have the same success without
their offensive coordinator Ben
Johnson? I have to say no. And I and it’s not pertaining to the
talent that’s on the team. We
know this is the best running back duo. We covered that
earlier in the show. We know
that these dudes have one of the best receiver tandems that’s
known as well. And we know that
they have a good quarterback and one of the best offensive lines.
But we don’t know what what
plays are going to be called. We don’t know what that sequence is
going to look like. We don’t
know what the distribution between run and pass is going to
look like. We don’t know if the
creativeness that we’ve come to know and love about Detroit is
going to be there. So the
matchups. Right. The, the, the formulations of the plays, we
don’t know any of these things.
So it’s a question mark. So I can’t sit up here and
confidently say that they’re
going to have the same production. They were lights out
the last few years under Ben
Johnson’s lineage. We can’t say that the next man up, okay. And
John Morton is going to be just
as successful as Ben Johnson. I can’t say that for sure. Yeah,
and I’m right there with you
because you hit it on the head. I mean, they got a guy in the
backfield who’s going to be
probably top three running back. They got a guy, the receiver out
there Saint Brown. He’s going to
be a top five receiver I think a top ten tight end. Sam Laporta
is going into his third year Tim
Patrick. And don’t forget David Montgomery. They got they’re
stacked as we mentioned. And I
love Dan Campbell’s type of attitude towards the game. But
when you start to look at Jared
Goff and his success you know remember he was he was with the
Rams. And his last year kind of
was questionable right. And so what does he do. He goes over to
the Detroit Lions. Who is he
under Ben Johnson kind of revamped him. They they put that
man in so many great positions
Re-instilled a lot of different confidence in him. And I think
without him there it’s like it’s
just like the person when you all around the Thanksgiving
table. Right. And you’re all
eating and having a good time. And then that one person leaves
and you kind of feel the room
just dissipate, the air is gone. It’s like, man, that feel
different. I think Ben Johnson
is one of those key elements that makes the Detroit Lions
run. So I don’t see as much
success as we’ve seen in the past, but a good team for sure.
I have to disagree with you. Oh,
okay. I do, I do, and I like your Thanksgiving analogy. But
that great that great cooking
still on that table. It’s still on that table. We just watched
this movie in Philly and that
Kelly Green, both coordinators leaving, they go win a Super
Bowl. The system is in place in
Detroit. The culture is in place. The mindset what these
guys are set out to do, they
know they they dropped the ball last year. Number one seed. They
had all their bases covered.
They they dominated. Throughout the regular season. Hyundai was
derailed by a ton of injuries.
Ton of injuries. But I strongly believe in Dan Campbell. What he
has built, the system that they
have in place, the maturity of these young guys that they that
they have now. Penei Sewell is
now in his fifth year. He’s now he’s not a young buck no more.
He’s and he’s him for sure like
he’s a dog. So those those young guys that they have now they’re
coming into their own even more.
They got playoff experience. Even though it came in a loss
against the commanders. I see
them and I said it said it before I have them coming out of
the NFC, NFC which would be a
big task here. I know the question centers around the
offensive success without Ben
Johnson, but I think you make a really good point because Aaron
Glenn now is in New York with
the Jets. They lose both their coordinators. And you’re right,
we did see that with
Philadelphia. There was a hiccup though that following season I
think they were the first team
in like 30 years or so to lose both coordinators after getting
to the Super Bowl. It took a
little bit of time. Maybe that doesn’t happen. Maybe there’s
something that Dan Campbell can
take a page out of their playbook and fast track that
success for this upcoming
season. Let’s turn to second season. Let’s turn to second
down though. Joe Burrow Isaiah,
you tell me, how did the Bengals avoid another slow start?
Because I feel like this is a
team where we go coulda shoulda woulda last year. It’s their
defense. Yeah it’s their
defense. And it’s we can talk about Trey Hendrickson all day
long in terms of his production
and how he led the league in sacks, but collectively as a
defense, these guys are on the
bottom of the of the league in terms of total defense. I mean,
you could pretty much do
whatever you wanted to against them. And this goes all the way
back to 2022 really. You know,
these guys have not done much. You know they were giving up 22
points a game, 25 points a game.
You can’t have a successful team if you’re giving up a bunch of
yardage and points on one side
of the ball, your offense is the most prolific offense probably
in the league. You know, one of
the best tandems in the league. That’s fine and dandy. You know
you got Joe Burrow on offense
but that’s their that’s that third of the game. If you get to
the other third of the game
okay. And you feel like you can’t stop a runny nose, then
you’re pretty much just trading
points. So I think that if they want to be anywhere in the
conversation of being
competitive once again, like we’ve seen them go all the way
to the Super Bowl in years past,
their defense has to step it up. And it can’t be just on the
backs of Trey Hendrickson
himself. Yeah, I do, I agree with you. On the defensive side
of the ball. They need they
obviously know what they have to do. And we know establish the
run. Stop the run. Right I’m
going to go with the establishment first. I tell you
it’s something about there’s two
Canadian running backs in the NFL and they are both monsters
Joel Hubbard over there with the
Carolina Panthers and Chase Brown with the Cincinnati
Bengals. He actually got the
chance to step up and not split time at towards the end of the
end of the year with Zach Moss,
and we saw what he did. He covered 990 rushing yards close
to 1000, and he had receiving he
had 54 receptions bringing him close to 400 yards. Put him at
1400 total yards. Plus I think
he’s exceptional. I think he’s a difference maker. I think he
helps Joe Burrow in the pass
game and give him a little his legs. That’s very important to
keep him healthy, which is the
long term. But to start off fast you got to run the ball, control
the clock, keep your keep your
keep the defense, keep your defense fresh. Give them an
opportunity. Because if you
score too quick, we know it’s just like basketball. It’s like,
hey, run the clock out a little
bit for us. So I think establishing the run game behind
Chase Brown, they can do that. I
think Joe Burrow I believe Joe Burrow starts strong. I don’t
think he comes out and have
another slow start to the season. I think he comes out
hot. They just pay both of his
receivers. He got Mike Gesicki back. The O-line is back
together again for another year.
So offensively I think they come out explosive. The issue is an
AFC is a lot of elite defenses,
so you can’t really expect them to go out and drop 30 on all
these defenses in their division
alone. You got to see Pittsburgh twice. You got to see Baltimore
twice. You don’t really expect
them to drop 30 every time you see these guys. So defensively
it’s that’s where I’m with you
Isaiah. It’s tough. You know what I mean. Trey Hendrickson is
an amazing player. The one that
I claim to be the sack master. But defensively I don’t see them
being able to hold off long
enough for the offense to keep scoring all these all these
points in every game. If that’s
the case, is it more perplexing what we’re seeing with the
Shamar Stewart situation? You
got a first round pick, a defensive end who’s supposed to
help solidify the other side of
that, that defensive line. What are we doing here? What are we
doing. Honestly, I’m with you.
I’m lost. I don’t understand even just Trey alone, I go back
to Trey. I don’t really know ho.
It’s pushback with his level of consistency and production, what
he brings to the team. And then
you draft a guy first round who you’re making a big investment
to bring into your your, your
football program. And we can’t get the contract done is what
are we doing. Yeah. And also
what are you what are you communicating to your team. What
are you communicating to we’ve
all been in those locker rooms right. It’s a big deal. It’s a
huge deal. Right. In terms of
organizational structure. And we always talk about you know, fans
get mad when players leave and
go to another organization. This is why. Yeah this is why. Right.
Look what happens when I show
you consistent production. And now I’m literally the best in
the league at what I do this
past year. And when you talk about the best in the league
total I’m in that conversation
one, 2 or 3. Right. All of our stats are equal. Me and Myles
Garrett, our stats are side by
side. Now I want to get paid. And you’re like hold up. Yeah
right. Like hold up. And the guy
that you brought in to replace me and for me to groom you’re
like hold up to him as well.
What are we doing. No. For real. So as we read that topic, barn,
it says, how does Joe Burrow and
the Bengals avoid another slow start? Maybe the answer is make
sure that the defense is taken
care of. But I do know we Season three gets followed. Ooh.
All right so here we go. We’re
going third down. The quarterback that I want to see
followed is not just one
quarterback right I’m gonna still want out of here I’m going
to New York I want to go to the
New York Giants quarterback room. Right. Not just one
quarterback. Don’t just follow
one person around. I need a whole film crew. I need three
cameramen to follow around the
New York Giants quarterback room. Reason being, these guys
have. They have Russell Wilson,
who is a 13 year vet and Super Bowl champion. That is Mr.
Affirmation. He’s going to be
your starter. Behind him, you have the most personable person,
probably comedic individual in
the league. And Jameis Winston who’s going to be eating a dub
even if they’re eating losses
okay. And then at third and then at third string you have a first
round pick from this year who’s
going to be your third string quarterback. And in that
quarterback room that is three
different personalities, three different dynamics I cannot
wait, I hope I wish that those
guys would be in this quarterback. Maybe it’s next
year I don’t know. And by the
way, that first round pick has got some. He’s confident very
confident out there. So there is
some swag. He probably will be a starter at some point during the
season. I love everything you
said man. I was about to come over there and dap you up till
you tell me how you going to eat
some of them lawsuits I can’t get. I can’t join on that one,
man. But I tell you, Netflix, I
don’t watch too much TV, folks. But my wife, she loves some
drama. Okay, so she puts me in
front of that TV from time to time, I’ll be like, I get lost
into it. So I got to think about
what is going to give me some drama and beauty, and I’m going
to the best. Let me say it
right, the best. I’m going over there because I want to see
Caleb Williams. He’s going to
give a little bit of everything. Right. Think about this
allegedly. Right. You know he’s
watching film by himself. No structure. He’s a lone wolf
allegedly. Right. Then you think
about he was a first round first overall draft pick. Oh that’s
the drama. And he went to a
beautiful situation that doesn’t happen. But his successor Jayden
Daniels outplayed him. The drama
what’s going to happen this year allegedly right I’ll say
allegedly be careful over here.
But his dad said the bears where you go for quarterbacks to die.
Well man that’s drama. Let me
see what he does this season. But he’s six two. He’s 220. He’s
running a 4 or 5 elite arm D.J.
D.J. Moore’s over there. They got Swift. They got Johnson
Luther is over there. Bird in
the third. I really want to see these guys play the velocity I
think he’s going to do well. So
there’s the beauty of it. And don’t forget September 8th. They
start off Monday Night Football
against the Vikings. Going to Soldier Field 715 Central Time.
This is somebody I want to watch
because he has personality. And they got a storyline over there
this year. Who you got T I’m
going Jayden Daniels. And selfishly for the dynamic of
mama five that as a as a parent
with kids that’s that’s athletes I would love to see their
dynamic. I would love to see how
she handles all these different components of his career on the
field. Off the field, she’s
qualified. She’s certified as an agent. She’s a great business
mind as well. So I would love to
get that insight to see that relationship, how it goes from
parent to child and also as
partners and agent and client. Yeah. Very cool. Jayden Daniels,
speaking of quarterbacks, that
should scare the rest of the It’s a miracle. Can you believe
it? Get NFL RedZone now. Snap.
Levis looking left, stands at the pocket, hit slips the tackle
running left and then finally
brought down from behind. Gobbled up by Taylor. Snap is
back. Pressure coming. Taylor
hits him from behind. Ball is out. Taylor was able to chase
him down. Yeah, just get out of
his way. You saw our next guest open up last season. All up in
the Titans Grill. This year he
is rocking a Houston Texans uniform. Their defensive end
Darrell Taylor joins us right
now on good morning football Gerald awesome to have you with
us. You signed with the Houston
Texans I couldn’t help but notice on your IG account you
got the intense workout, the
dramatic music well produced, but you had the caption that
said it’s personal this year.
Explain to me why it is personal this year, man, it’s personal
this year. Because, you know, I
feel like I left a lot on the table in Chicago. And, you know,
I’m in a great place where, you
know, the offense is going to do their thing. And, you know, we
have a great coaching staff to,
you know, be able to put me in position to be able to help our
defense out this year and, you
know, make a lot of plays. So I’m excited about that. So
that’s the reason that, you
know, I feel like I’m, you know, playing with much of a chip on
my shoulder than I ever played
with. So I’m just excited to be there and excited to offer what
I got. You know what I’m saying?
My skill level to the to the Houston Texans, man. Well, a lot
of teams aren’t going to be
excited to find out that you got a chip. I tell you that with
that Texas defense. But the
Texans are looking to make the third consecutive playoff
appearance now. They’ve never
done that before in their history. What would you how
would you guys do it this year?
I think it’s just about the time, you know the time we put
in right now, you know training,
working out, you know, getting to know each other and
everything. You know we was just
in OTAs. So you know that time pays off. And just being able
to, you know, connect with one
another and building that brotherhood it’s going to show
on the field, you know. So
anytime you you close with your teammates and everything like
that, it’s going to show on the
field every time. And that’s what we’re excited about, man,
to be able to put what we got on
the field and let everybody see what we’re going to do this
year. All right, I got to ask
you about your QB man. Somebody who went through a lot last year
losing every single one of his
top three receivers at some point in time and probably
doesn’t get enough credit. But I
want to know from your stance what has impressed you most
about CJ Stroud? Man, C.J.
Stroud is just a really good quarterback, man. You know, he’s
very patient and reading. You
know, all his progressions and everything like that, man. We
see it in practice. You know,
just being able to see him making plays and stuff like
that. And we’re like all right
now, now we got to tighten our stuff up because he’s making
plays on us. So he he can’t make
us look bad. So just seeing him, you know, progress through that.
And it’s only year two year
three for him. So it’s exciting to see man. And I’m just you
know happy to be here to be a
part of something very special this year. DT I see you I see
you are heavily involved in the
community. Giving back to the community is truly a gift and
it’s really a passion of mine
for sure. You’re doing amazing things with your 52 Sundays
initiative. Tell us more about
it, man. So it’s something that me and my manager came up with,
man, recently. You know, I was
dating this girl and, you know, she passed away. You know, it
was really sudden for me. So,
you know, I was dating her for like, two years. And, you know,
when it happened, it really
changed. It gave me a lot of perspective on a lot of things
that was going on in my life.
So, you know, giving back to the community was something that
really just hit me. And, you
know, I was in Arizona just hanging around training and
stuff like that. And then I just
started, I said, man, I want to do something to give back, and I
don’t want to stop it until, you
know, obviously I’m not here anymore. So I told my manager, I
said, man, let’s figure out
something that we can do. You know, that is going to, you
know, the world that the world
can see. Really. So we came up with 52 Sundays. It’s already 52
Sundays in a year. You know, my
number is 52 and we play on Sundays. So I felt like it was
just the perfect time to be able
to give back to the community. And I hadn’t seen anybody doing
it. You know, I’m on social
media heavily and I hadn’t seen anybody doing anything like
that. So when, you know, I
reached, I told my manager what I wanted to do. He was like,
man, this is a great idea. And
then we both like, talked a lot. And then we came up with the
idea of 52 Sundays. And that’s
pretty much just giving back to the community, whether it’s
kids, whether it’s homeless
people, you know, elderly people, anything like that. You
know, we all in and hands on
with that stuff. So we’re just happy to be here and be able to
give back to community because
we’re very blessed. And, you know, that’s what God wants us
to do. And that’s, you know, I’m
very heavy in my faith. So I feel like this is something that
God put on my heart for a long
time, and I just feel like this was the opportunity to just take
it, you know, to the next level.
And how do we support that? How do people find you and support
what you’re doing? 52 Sundays
right now, I’m in the process of coming up, creating my own
nonprofit with that. So probably
in about maybe a couple of months, like I have a team
that’s working on that so that I
can be able to have people donate money so we can be able
to create better events and, you
know, be able to give more to the community. So once I get
that on and popping and
everything is rolling, how I want it to be, man, there’s no
limits to how people can help us
and how much we can give back to the community. I love that
you’re using your platform to
for a positive cause as well, but I know you know some of the
struggles that you’ve dealt
with. You’ve spoken publicly about that. I want to take us
back to 2023. I think I know the
reason why, but I think it’s important for you to share the
actual reason. But you had like
hot pink hair, which automatically is going to
gravitate a lot of attention
your way. Once again, the color pink pretty significant, but can
you just explain why you decided
to go in that direction? Yeah, most definitely man. So I wanted
to something big and spontaneous
for my mom. So my mom passed away to breast cancer and 2020
13th May second, 2013. When I
was 1516 years old. So you know that, you know, that shaped a
lot of the rest of my life
through college and everything. So, you know, it was I never
done anything like that up until
that point, you know, really big or special for my mom as far as
breast cancer goes, so that
people can see, you know, that I really represent it. So when I
came up with that idea, it was
really random. And I just said, man, I’m going to do something
big this year. Like, you know, I
didn’t know what was what was going to happen with the season
with Seattle. So I was like,
man, I know that all I can do is, you know, pray to God and go
out there and put everything
that I got on the field. So I did that. And then I came up
with that idea because my mom,
when she passed away, you know, it was it was really tough on
me. So, you know, that was a way
for me to express, you know, how I feel about my mother as far as
supporting her and everything
that we went through together during that. You know, during
that time when I was a kid. So,
man, it was it was everything for me to be able to see that,
you know, people supported it
and everything. And even, you know, the Seahawks, you know,
they pushed it out and put it
all in the media for me as much as they could possibly do. And
that was like that was
everything to me. So that year meant a lot to me. You know,
just being able to do that for
her and being able to showcase, you know, how much I love my
mom. Hey, man, I appreciate your
time. And wrapping it up, tell us why everybody should be
excited about the Texans this
season. Man, y’all should be excited about them Texans
because we going to put points
on the board. We’re going to get people real hard. Yeah yeah
plenty of pieces on both sides
of the football Darryl dude you rock man. Honestly amazing
watching you out on the football
field. But to hear what you’re doing with 52 Sundays, not to
mention what breast cancer
awareness. I think all of us appreciate the mission and can’t
wait to see you out on the
football field. More importantly, healthy. Thanks
again for joining us. All right.
Yeah, we got more gmfb still to come. It’s for you. Do you like
it? Come on, Charlie, use your
new door. Come on, let’s

I think Broncos will have best RB Duo ‘ Dobbins & Harvey ‘
Aronn was the goat
bo nix will dethrone kc this year
This is exactly why the Steelers should have passed on AR
Dk top 5..
NO
DK Metcalf is I think 6’ 4”, runs a 4.3 40, has over a 40-inch vertical leap — far better than NBA average — and is really strong. I looked at his numbers during the Pittsburgh trade and it was obvious the Seahawks were underutilizing him. But I think DK might have a big year because Aaron Rodgers will obviously be the best passer DK has played with even though Aaron is surely past his prime. But I won’t be shocked if DK has over 1K yards and, oh, 15 TDs. Why not? Jump ball back of the end zone, TD, rinse and repeat.
Can Dk even reach top 10😂
No
Why do they keep saying Rodgers is a hall of famer like we didn't know that? 😂

Texans have best running back duo in Mixon and chubb
Najee Harris is burnt toast
Houston will dethrone Mahomes and the Chiefs this year
AAR is washed. A statue with arms that move. DK is a unicorn with elite speed, size and power, but very limited routes and hands of stone. DK is easily frustrated. He needs to be in a situation where he can force single coverage – in that situation there are only 2-3 corners who can hold him down. AAR is gonna get plastered waiting for plays to develop and start throwing the ball before the defense is revealed. Hes not the qb the steelers need, he is the tank commander they have to gaslight fans that the steelers are a story He will be done by the bye week.
Will Anderson Jr for me in sack master
